- Very sadly have to report that we found Tunni yesterday lying dead in a ditch at the end of our wood. We guess she must have been hit by a lorry/tractor and crawled into the ditch on her way home. No visible signs of any injuries so hopefully she died quickly. Thank you everyone for all your help and support.

- Having looked at Google Earth I realise the railway line isn't quite as close to Lillington as it seemed by car, so it's most unlikely , it's just an avenue I would eliminate. Apologies if I made anyone nervous.

- Rail lines alongside the woods isn't good..owner def needs to be talking to network rail urgently. Dogs see lines as a natural trail and follow them which is why so many fall victim to trains.

- Had a wander around some woods in Lillington with my dog today but no luck I'm afraid. I went off the beaten track and checked fencing and undergrowth as much as possible. I did notice quite thick undergrowth by railway lines. Is it possible for her to access this? Maybe worth an email to rail company to alert their drivers. They have been very helpful in the past and have the height to see more. In the last few weeks so many dogs on doglost have turned up after being lost for some time.

- is it possible to get a tracker dog in ?

- This dog easily has enough tail feathers and ear fur to be caught up tight in thick brambles or on wire...seen it happen to my own twice

- Thanks everyone. Tunni didn't have a collar on for that very reason. Yes, there are barbed wire fences locally but her coat is not thick, long or shaggy. She negotiates barbed wire fences every day on our walks. I have walked for miles with friends along the local hedges and in the local woods. Saw the local shoot beaters on Tuesday and alerted them. We are a very small rural community and lots of people know Tunni. Thanks for all your suggestions. I will try the torch method tonight.

- Yes I agree Jo glos.I don't know if Tunni was wearing a collar but that is another possibility. Suppose you have searched at night with a powerful torch to look for eye shine. Even better could you arrange a "sweep"of the woods with friends and neighbours working your way along in a line.

- If the area has any barbed wire fencing insoect along it..I recall a soaniel lost a few mths ago eventually found with its coat csught in a wire fence. Sadly too late and only a mile from home. Long soft spaniel fur easily catches. Ask gamekeeper to indicate where there might be any in woods ..spaniels also often go silent when in trouble rather than bark.Last edited: 2015-10-28 20:34:27 by Jot cotswolds

- Have been out since 7.30 am looking and calling and leaving scents all round the local area. Sadly no sign. We alerted our local gamekeeper on Sunday. Hopefully she has been picked up by someone friendly who will hand her in.

- Hope you have luck tomorrow, even better would be if she comes back home over night. Please leave somewhere for her to shelter, a porch or garage in case she comes home early hours.

- Is there a local game keeper you could speak to about Tunni going missing ? I hope she is found soon x
- 2015-10-26 20:24 Fiona
- Thanks for the email and voicemail Poochpal. Tunni ran off during a walk from home, chasing all the local pheasants around the local woods. She has done this before but always finds her way home with no problem. We live in a very rural area. I've been out all morning in the suspected area she would have gone to calling and taking our other dog with us to mark key points as per your very useful suggestions. Will try again tomorrow morning. Thanks.
