Zak's dad!:
Whats the latest on Harley? I remember the news and gmtv coverage of his loss back in the summer and i recall only imagining your pain as i watched my beloved Springer asleep on his bed. This is my first visit to this Godsent website and i can say that not much upsets me, but at the moment i have to keep wiping my eyes... I send my hope and thoughts to you for a happy ending.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jenny, I had no luck with Crimewatch. Still getting nowhere. But - I did have two gorgeous black and white springer spaniels turn up at my back door at the weekend, and they are now reunited with their owners after an enjoyable day with us! I just wish the person who picked up ours had done the same and returned them. It is quite clear to me that they have been taken. I am still looking when I have a spare moment and it is quite encouraging that everyone around here is still keeping a lookout! Hope you are okay Love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jenny, I am in Spain with my two old ladies and I look at every black lab! I found two stray labs walking in the road yesterday half way up a mountian. One brown one blonde. Nearly spray painted them and brought them home!!! Still I left them and told them to go home. They seemed quite aware of where they were! I think about our two every day and feel so helpless here. I don?t think Richie thinks we shall ever get them back, but as soon as I am home, I am going on the rampage again. I suggest we meet with a renewed plan. I don?t think I have ever hated being away from as much as this. Chin up, Jenny, don?t forget me friend did not get her dog back for three months. We shall get them. I am sure. hi, barry the dog warden collected a black lab from ironbridge today after i had a call from a kind man who found him asleep outside on him trampolene barry bought the to me thinking it might be harley, but it wasnt him, but at least thats another doggy found who is now safe waiting for his owners to collect him (he was really beautiful) but they all are. so another day goes by without harley, i really think someone has taken him out of the county, and hasnt seen all the publicity about harley and pippin, wish i knew what to do next. jenny xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

had a signting a black lab last night got quite excited, it was in dawley in telford playing with children on a park. the lady rand me back to say the dog was a bitch, checked it out with barry our dog warden (who is great) this morning and hes taken the dog home (sorry jax, not pippin). if anyone is reading this post who has either harley or pippin or knows of someone who has, i just have to say that they maybe unaware that they have caring owners waiting for them (and their doggie friends) waiting for them to come home. or maybe they just think they are strays and are doing the best thing by looking after, but please, please if that is the case please dont be worried about calling either me or jax, in fact we would be grateful that they were being looked after by someone. the rewards for our dogs are still waiting to be claimed for our dogs safe return, and can assure anyone that if they would like any call to be kept confidential, that how it will be. so im pleading with everyone and anyone to give us a call if they know the whereabouts of our lovely labs harley and pippin. thanks again. love jenny xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Jenny, Just been out again, a sighting of a black lab roaming in Rushbury along the railway line and into a field. My car is in the garage, but a friend picked me up and their son searched on the ridge above and we searched the area where the sighting was. We saw nothing - but one lady said she had seen two dogs together. I am not getting my hopes up, as there were a few caravans there and it could have been visitor dogs, but we spoke to the famer and the couple at the old disused railway cottage and they know to call us if they see them again. they also have Harley and Pippin's names and will try to catch the dogs if they are strays. Speak later love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You definitely did a good thing. The dog warden may well be the one person who manages to catch Harley - and who cares if you have to pay to get him out the pound - at least he'll be safe! If it's not Harley then again the dog will still be safe and cared for rather than living on its wits. Don't worry yourself, I'm sure the dog warden will help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

just phones the lady bt the wrekin again to see if she has seen black lab again she was very off with me due to the fact that i alerted the dog warden barry who went and had a look she said he would take the dog to a dogs home and people would have to pay to get him out which she thought was awfal, she was very abrupt with me and said if she saw him she would ring me. (funny she didnt mention the black panther she was so excited about last night} i dont know about everyone else but i thought i did the right thing by calling barry at least the dog would have been caught and safe instead of running wild pretending to be a big cat. and no matter what our circumstances are , and i struggle, but i would find the money to get my harley back. sorry to ramble on but i feel quite upset about did i do the right thing ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought Jenny but this lady from the Wrekin might be trying to send you round it (shropshire talk) if you know what I mean, she seems to see a lot out of her window and no Black Panthers have been on the news that I have heard of lately and it does normally make the headlines, on another note have you put posters up in any hairdressers, or do you know of anyone who would put a poster in their car someone who travels around alot (plumber, mobil mechanic, ice cream van) that kind of thing. Hi Jenny, Thanks for your messages. The journal idea sounds good and I shall call you today. The postlady has left this morning with all our fliers on Harley and Pippin, so let's hope that throws up some light. It wasn't the same girl who had agreed to take them originally, and this one thought they would keep Pippin for breeding. Just what I wanted to hear!! Oh dear! Also one of my clients has given me a whole load of websites and advice on who to call in Ireland. So I shall start on that today. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jenny, we are always getting sightings of Black Panthers, last year one of my colleagues from Sainsburys went out the back and says he saw one chasing the rabbits, I think he spent too long in the booze cage myself, oh and one was spotted outisde my husbands work a couple of years ago, but from a distance shiny black labs (and harley looks very shiney) could be mistaken perhaps for a panther, don't let it put you of your search, just take some Kiti-Kat with you.( Ha Ha) Hope the lady reported her sighting to the police you never know in their search for the panther they may find Harley.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

no chance that panther couldn't possibly have been a dog?! I know we have big cats here... but a dog running and looking thin from being out would also look cat like.. ish. maybe.?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi , well i got in touch with the lady by the wrekin and now she seems very excited and couldnt talk for more than a minute because although she hasnt seen any black labradors today she has just seen the biggest black panther in a nearby field, just lucky harley is scared of cats especially very large ones. will let you all know the outcome, from disappointed jenny x.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi jax, just waiting for the lady from by the wrekin to ring with another sighting as she says he comes when they take their dog out at 8pm but me and my friend jazmaine will go and look anyway i think i will also take jet my cocker spaniel with me . im feeling a bit dispondent now as the phone calls have died off, but we must carry on because i know well get them back. im not a religious person but i do say a prayer for them both every night to keep them safe until we find them {that is through my tears} i think i aged about 10 years in the last 5 weeks, but never mind. anyway jax my e.mail is jenny.whitehouse@blueyonder.co.uk. by the way i have approached the local journal which i think also covers you {not quite sure} but in my area only {only sighting areas which is dawley, overdale and ketley} i would need over 5000 flyers which would cost about ?140.00 to be inserted in the journal but also would have to get them printed myself. there is a printing company in telford called taws maybe they might sponser us if we had their name on the flyers. but still you would have to find out {or i could} where the journal is delivered in your area , if it is at all {just another thought we could think about} anyway jax i will be home later if you want to call about anything. lots of love jenny x.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You must not think you are going mad just because you have asked the help of a phsyic, I would do the same in your situation. Often they can be of help and do give you that extra bit of hope. Dont give up ,I am sure you will soon get Harley back . He cannot be hidden forever. Get as much publicity as possible and someone hopefully will pick up on it. thanks for messages . a taxi driver has just rang to say he saw harley 3am this morning in oakengates in telford {again just a mile or so away} but said he was by the railway lines he tried to corner him but yet again he ran off , he also said he was limping. i could really kick myself for spoiling him now and not being able to socialise him properly{due to my bad leg} now on another note we all need to help jax, last night she was very down as shes had no sightings of pippin so weve got to keep her spirits up , ive been very lucky with publicity from my local newspaper the shropshire star which escalated to tv but to be honest the tv didnt even say where harley was from. anyway, i live in a largish town with loads of people, whereas jax is quite secluded where she lives . i dont know if this sounds stupid but we could do with some kind of trackers dogs to find pippin, any ideas anyone or jayne do you know any people like that to help jax. love jenny xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jenny if you are getting sightings in the same place, you must put food down regularly, topped with Pilchards then scent around it. He will keep coming back( the smell of pilchards travels forever, they cannot resist them) and you can keep him in the area and then catch him. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thanks everyone for all your messages i really do appreciate them. today i informed my localpaper of harleys sightings and its going in tomorrow i think also had 2 other sightings today but saying they saw harley yesterday at the same location on the rock road nr overdale in telford and all describing him as looking thin but with the curly bit on his collar my friend jasmine drove me around the area handing and putting up flyers but no sign of him also my lovely neighbours martin mo and travis took jet up there and walked him round, he can wee for england so maybe harley will get his scent and come the mile down the road {if it is him} but from everyones description i just know or hope to god it is. thanks jax for saying you would come and help but you have enough worries looking for pippin and rest assured im on the look out for pipin as well. also any stray dog no matter what i will get it home to its owners if i can. we all think this will never happen to us and when it does and you find such a fantastic site like this and such lovely people it changes your whole view on everything, especially getting stray dogs back to their loving owners. we can all be too busy and self centered sometimes without even knowing it in all honesty through the years ive seen dogs walking alone but then just thought there owners are just behaind them, how differently i feel now. but through all the calls i have received many have said the same thing to me until maybe they look at the newspaper or something and have passed the dog the day or even week before. even when hopefully i find my lovely harley i will never forget this experience and will continue with all my heart and go out of my way to reunite owners with their pets and also do everything i can to help jayne with this great site. see you all tomorrow. love jenny x thanks again so much to everyoneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ive had 3 really positive sightings of harley today they even described the bendy bit on his red collar. but when they tried to catch him he ran off they said he looked ok but a bit thin. the place he was seen was the rock road , marlborough way but there are lots of fields and a pool around there ive searched with my friend but no luck but its only 10 minutes away from where i live, so close and yet so far. im putting posters up all around that area as lots of people walk their dogs up there. tomorrow i will take my spaniel jet with me and hope for the best. Its definetly a good idea to try all the dog homes in the country. My friend had a labrador bitch from Sunnyside kennels in Wolverhampton, when the dog owner found her as a stray in the west mids area they looked at her micro chip and the contact information said she was from Wales. Sunnyside kennels had tried to reunite the dog with her owner several times but to no avail. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you tried putting a free advert in the bargain pages. This might help. Also to people who may have lost a dog recently its a good idea to check in there for the slightest chance that someone may be advertising to sell a dog they have found or stole. Another question I wanted to add to Harley's owner, were there any travellers in the area at the time Harley went missing? Just thought that they might have found him and moved to another area. on another note, a good publicity stunt could be to... have a huge poster of harley printed on a DoubleDecker Bus and driven around everywhere, a company or newspaper could sponsor this... that could get on the news... and in national papers.. etc. anything is worth a try.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

All publicity is good...especially for this kind of thing..has anyone thaught that too much publicity could be bad? Shrewsbury Chronicle, and maybe the Shrewsbury Admag might be an idea if not already done, the Admag is free so most people have a look through that I think it is the same sort of thing as the Telford Journal. Printed off posters for my hubby to take into work he works on Hortonwood in Telford and has lots of deliveries from lorry drivers so they may have seen something on their travels. will do the same for Pippin.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I totally agree, Marshend. When the owners post, and we get to know them, the whole thing is more personal. You also know what they are doing to get their animal back, as it is difficult to maintain the momentum if there is no update. Also, so many are returned, and people don't notify Doglost. Still thinking of you Harley. Sue XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to respond to the question of why some dogs get more attention than others.... I think that some owners put a little more effort into finding their dogs and get involved in the posts or get someone to do it..this makes the lost dogs more personal to people and helpers, We all care about all the dogs and wish them all home safe and well, These naughty black labs will be home soon !!! Hi - I am Jax and my Black Labrador Pippin ran off on a scent whilst I was walking her on Wednesday evening. Jayne said there had been a sighting of a black labrador last week in Much Wenlock. Mine is also wearing a red collar and from your photograph, they look very alike. Let us hope they find each other. Pippin may well be coming into Season, so that should be an added lure. If they have been taken, I hope their consciences will finally give the dogs back to their homes. Just getting a taste of how you must be feeling now. All the best JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope the extra publicity will see Harley safely home again with his family very soon. So right BrodieMurphy, it's the worst form of mental torture when a canine member of the family is missing. I would do anything to bring my dogs home again, so I understand why the owner is offering her car. Hurry home soon HarleyxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, well done both of you on GMTV. Not sure if I missed it, but I don't think that it was mentioned where Harley went missing from. Good luck. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Saw you both on GMTV this morning. Jenny you came across very well, very dignified. And Jayne, you always come across well hehe. I hope this interview will bring Harley to the public attention and that he will be home very soon. Only people with pets can ever understand. They are a part of your family, you see them every day and they love you no matter what. I would give anything to get my Murphy back if he ever went missing so I completely relate to the owner offering her car as a reward although hopefully, it won't come to that. BTW Jenny said that her other dog, Jess (I think was the name although I was half asleep hehe) was hurt when you found her, in what way, do you think this could be related to Harley as well? Really hope to see Harley in the blue soon xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i've been looking at another thread on this site, and they are talking about triangulation, and scent marking. does harley's owner know about this technique? if not look at 'teddy's' thread, there is someone called ian who seems to know what to do. Why do some dogs get more 'attention' than others?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Matt Belfield:
Come on Harley, you ickle Bugger... get yourself home pronto, people are missing you, cute little thing.. Until you have a dog, its impossible to know just how much you get attached to them, a best friend for life thats for sure.. To give your car as a reward for the safe return of Harley is the kind of thing i would do, Sod it.... they can have my car, youll need yours yours to take Harvy out Walkies...., and that`s a promise..!
