Ludo looks to have some saluki in there - which means with his cross he can be very adept at surviving in the wild, as his hunting instincts will kick in. Our foster boy Tom - a saluki cross was feral in Ireland for four years prior to us getting him, and he escaped within two weeks of coming here - thanks to this Charity we got him back. When we found him we thought we would have a job on our hands getting him back, but he came back to us very willingly. We think he was ready to come home. So here's hoping Ludo will be found really soon safe and well. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As per usual if the dog sighted which was actually seen by one of our own new adopters was Ludo then we were about 3/4hr behind him. The latest sighting of a dog *believed* to be Ludo was on Birkholme Drive in Meir Heath. Ive looked on Map Quest and its literally diagonally across about 2 - 3 miles through fields crossing just one road from where the farmers field is. Weve been out there for a couple of hours and nothing. More frustratingly there are miles of fields out there and plenty of ways for a dog to get on there but no where for humans especially humans who dont know the area in the pitchblack we just couldnt find a way in. I really hope its Luds because if it is he is moving into a better area to make a mistake than he was in previously which having been out and looked today was about 9 miles square of fields and private land before he hit a road.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ludo is believed to be frequenting a farm 2 miles away-farmer has reported dog poo consisting of sweetcorn kernals and a "thief " has been stealing his sweetcorn-also his dogs are barking late at night-Lisa from Greyhound gap is on the case-say no more! In expert hands.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It was freezing here last night aswell. We have been out today and right up to where he went missing and I have managed to find what I think is where he squeezed through a barbed wire fence as you can see his paw prints. This would be great BUT we have one massive problem. The problem is an un cooperative reclusive farmer who owns all the land he could possibly be on and isnt willing to have us trapsing around and down there he agreed to this once but no more times so now we are stuffed unless he at some point moves away from this land which I cant see happening. Its like Watership Down there even in the day. :( He was even mean enough to tell Glynis that she shouldnt be wasting her time looking as he would have made his way up onto the railway line by now and been killed by a train, I got a bit cross and said if that was the case someone would have informed us. NO they wouldnt he barked back. I cannot tell you just how frustrated I am now and im not sure where we go from here now. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well lurchers are the best at surviving out there and one of the hardest to lure in again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Think this is going to be a long one folks. Been out today to the area that Ludo is missing in and although its right outside his door its also a vast rural area. He knows where he is but headed a little further than he normally would. Have advised the owner about laying her own scent from the place he ventured into back into his familiar terrotory. I dont think he will go much further on unless scared onwards. There is also a stream and railway line that runs in the area back into familiar terrotory so fingers crossed. I can see this being a typical young saluki cross chase though knowing Ludo and as he is in his usual bunny stomping ground he is probably going to have himself a bit of fun its basically sighthound heaven. He was originally a stray before joining us two years ago so knows what its about. We just have to hope that he stays safe until he gets bored/hungry etc and starts to move back towards houses etc seeking out humans for food.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Ludo well. Stay safe Ludo, until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
