VENUE CHANGES FOR SAUSAGES. Claire was round today and has been told there is a craft fair at the castle on Sunday so car park will be heaving so everyone to the car park just up from the castle on the Delgaty / Cummingston road. Linda = if cumming from cumminston pass Cairnhill on way to Turriff and take the next clearing on your left big dirt car park - coming in on banff road pass castle head up hill and you will see it on your right. You really cannot miss it honest x

Ollie has his re-united story in the Press and Journal today as well as Davey. They are both on page 7, but I cannot find a link to Ollie's story online.
sweep
Your right Linda there are three car parks but only one at the Castle. Head down the road from the main Banff road to Delgaty and Cumminston and half way down you will see Delgaty Castle gate on your right come along the hard core road and into the car park - if you get as far as Cairnhill sign you've past it. If you are coming the from Cumminston end come as if you are going to Turriff you will pass the cairnhill sign and later on as you travel you will see a large dirt car park - pass this and carry on and in the dip you will see the castle gate and come in that way - it's easy to find - you have my mobile I will come look for you if you want.x

Its very weird Bazil - kinda been so busy looking for him and such a high last night seeing Claire and the kids and today - well it's like getting married - brilliant day everyone happy and the next day the party has stopped - no organisation to do no bits to get done just quiet! I'm so glad he is home and now I know I have another two days to get thru looking for black spots springing thru the barley fields. Bazil I wish I knew you - met you - I could introduce you to Chardonnay!!! hehe x Little Ollie I luv you x I see you are looking at Lollipop something wierd there but get in there Bazil help them x
BBKM
Aaah lovely picture of Ollie with his family, your daughters smile says it all, thanks Claire xx
Sweep I know what you mean when you can't stop looking for him. It took me about 3 days to wind down after finding Tia. Every churchyard, and field I passed I would drive slowly with my head constantly scanning form one side to the other Haha.
jenniec76
Awww lovely picture. Just look at that smile on her wee face, she is so chuffed to have Ollie back home. xxx

A lovely re-united photo for everyone.
Clairey
Thank you Sweep! I'm just back from a drive round and only saw one! I'll do Garmond later today. Pleased to say that Ollie has now been microchipped, wormed and checked over by the vet - who greeted him with 'so this is the infamous Ollie then!' Really looking forward to Sunday - hope to see lots of you there! x
sweep
Hi Claire - I've taken posters down - Delgaty woods back and front. Idoch bridge road to meikle whatever, little ardinn and towards hospital, cumminston low road lodge and up gardenston road, also a few rags but too dangerous to drive to each rag and stop to take away along to the Gamrie road end and took that one also so more or less covered with the posters. Just rags to do. will go with G the morn x or maybe later on today. will do dentist and tesco in a wee bit and was it Harbro at the bottom of Turriff or the on beside the recycling centre.
BBKM
Well done sweep your patience and determination paid off. Enjoy your sausages everyone on Sunday, you all deserve them xx
sweep
Well Mal - I want to believe that he got the food on Friday night and the food when I topped up on Saturday morning at 08:00 or just before - and I think he then went to the shed it's not a long walk very short to the Croft. When Claire came up with his towel mid morning the food was still there. When I went up at Lunch time NO towel and NO food. That's when Bazil suggested a stake out and Stumpy said he would do - that's when he saw the magpies eating the food. I had three food stations - Station 1 the craft Station 2 middle of windmill lane and station 3 the end of the track where the cows were Station 2 and 3 were never touched just Station 1 across from the Croft - the mystery is - where did his towel go? did he take it to the shed? don't worry I'm going over there again to ask the very ? x So in short I think he's stayed in the shed eating cat food and keeping cool from the sunshine - just wished I had gone in and looked properly earlier - but it's someone private property.
Mal
What a wonderful story, I wonder how long he had been in and out of the shed and what happened to his harness? So pleased he is home safe and well.
sweep
NOW SAUSAGES - we thought sooner rather than later and it's father day the following week the 19th. So what about this Sunday the 12th - 11 a.m. Delgatey Castle Car Park. Would be great to meet everyone. Just sausages nothing fancy x
sweep
Well I had a great night's sleep. Thought I'd better let everyone know how we got him back. Claire posted that a lady from Cairnhill Croft had called - I had put a flyer through her door at lunchtime yesterday - looked a little bit into her open shed and called for Ollie - nothing then left and walked my dog - supermarket shop then back up to Cairnhill with food to leave at the Croft. No-one in - went a walk to the duck ponds - no sightings - back home. Then read Claire's post re the call. Got in the car immediately as now I knew someone was in - The couple are lovely - asked if I left food would they put out for him and give me a ring if they sighted them - Husband was walking around - I said I did try to look in the shed but didn't like poking around - in he went and came back saying "He's in here" I couldn't believe it. Went in he was crouched in the corner - spoke to him and let him sniff me stroked his head - felt his collar and then down his back NO harness x then said i'm gona pick you up wee man - he let me and washed me face with his tongue very excited and you know the rest - home with Mum and family now. I've learned such a lot through this site and met some lovely people thank you all for the congrats but it was definitely a team effort x

LOL, Sausages and Chardonnay in the woods for you all!!!
Clairey
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! I don't know what to say... its a blur from Sweep pulling up in her car outside the house and seeing Ollie on the backseat!! The beast himself is sat on my feet as I type like he's never been away! He's thinner with a dull coat and possibly a few 'little friends' but its amazing to finally have him home. I can't thank everyone enough, everyone who helped search, gave advice and kept me positive - you have all been fantastic!! x x x x
Podret
Well done Sweep!! Sausages in the woods sounds great but don't forget to wear your walking boots........for kicking the owner of the dog (that started this) up the behind!! I am so so pleased for you, Claire, the kiddies and Ollie and so is Stumpy. Yeee Haaaaa!!!

I am on cloud nine x winning the lottery is exactly what it feels like x only I would have had a Porsche but a Porsche wouldn't make me feel like this. Was a little cruel to Claire put a sad face on and said she had better come with me and she said no what and I said I'm really sorry but I've found your dog - her face was a picture couldn't stop hugging her - Pinkie No.1 couldn't believe he was there is front of her. What a lovely feeling. Thank you to everyone - we were a great team and to be honest we don't mess around - job to be done - job done - well done everyone think we need sausages at the woods and we can all have a group hug and pat each others backs. Oh and Stumpy - you owe me a 05:30 start monkey - having sore eyes no excuse hehe. I want to hug everyone NOW x Oh Oh I can hear Chardonnay at the door mmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

WOW - WOW -WOW ! HE IS HOME. Sweep found him in a shed at Cairnhill Croft, and put him in the car and took him to Claire. Don't think so Sable. There was something about the way it bounded that instantly made me think dog. How frustrating.....if only I had taken more notice or been quicker or had Stumpy with me.!!Last edited: 2011-06-07 18:17:41 by Podret

Now we've had another sighting - fair enough on the same day (friday) it could mean he's in the same area so I'll get the dog warden to come out with a trap tomorrow - just need to decide where the best spot is so as not to catch a cat, fox or badger...?
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
When my hubby and I went out there on Saturday to search, there was a BIG brown hare there running around. Could it have been him??Last edited: 2011-06-07 18:00:53 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Just drove down past the duck ponds and up to the turbines. Sat at the base of the 2nd one and watched for a while. Went back to the main road and then down the track to Little something or other.....the long track near the buttercup field. Turned round and back to the main road. There was a woman and 2 children there with a dog too. I turned right and then drove to Cairnhill and down the track to where Stumpy and I saw Ollie last. I had driven past the croft ruins and was swinging left to follow up the hill when something shot out from left to right...heading for the scrub and field to the left of the croft. It was bounding but low to the ground so not a deer. I thought it was a brown dog at first but it was only out of the corner of my eye. It could have been a fox or a brown dog or a black dog muddy. I just don't know. Interestingly enough though, not minutes after this happened, I heard a dog barking in the direction of the buttercup field. Not sure if it was the ladys dog that had seen something or what I had seen. Sorry not to be more specific. It was out of the sight of my peripheral vision within a second or two. I parked the Cruiser on top of the hill and just watched but nothing moved. Was the dog warden going to put a trap down there?
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Ollie will be hungry so will be ready to eat most things. Don't leave out fishy stuff like sardines for the cats, but leave out soaked dog food like Bakers etc.or any scraps from home. It may go off a bit quicker if it is soaked dried dog food, but dried food is going to make him go looking for water. Maybe you are leaving water beside the food anyway are you? Unless the cats are very greedy they should not be too interested in that.Last edited: 2011-06-07 17:58:02 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Clairey
We musy be commenting at the same time! She said she would happily leave out food but has a cat who may eat it.... I know our cat eats dog food - any tips on a type of smelly dog food that cats don't like...?
Clairey
Sweep, am I right in thinking that Feed Station 1 is at the bottom of Cairnhill Croft's lane?

sweep
Claire thats the house at Feed Station 1 - have you got her number as I put flyer thru her letter box earlier and Iv been up to her twice today. Would she leave food out for him? Maybe he got the 1st feed on Saturday before the Magpies? so he's had a feed I hope x maybe he even got it on the Friday night x and Saturday morning and Stumpy and I heard a bark and walked the trees but no sight that was Saturday afternoon I think or Sunday maybe no sure it was Saturday cause he went to sit and watch who was eating the food. Oh Stumpy we almost might have had him x
Clairey
Just had a phone call from a really nice lady who lives at Cairnhill Croft - Ollie was at her doorstep at about 7pm on Friday - this would tie in with him being seen earlier in the day about 10.30-11ish just below the turbines. She said that he was there as she pulled up in her car but ran before she got out and headed back in the direction of Cairnhill Farm (and the trees...). At least this means he didn't completely leave the area and may even have been watching us look for him....?
sweep
Just back from the Duck ponds on foot and no sign, whimpering or otherwise. the stream goes directly onto the Cuminston road so I don't mind walking it in the morning and I think it's the stream that came from the field sighting of Friday. No-one in the farm house at Feed Station 1 - but will write a note and leave this when I go to Duck pond asking if she will feed him or at least try as we know he went to her door or there abouts. The Golf Course is a long way off from the Friday sighting but every sighting is a sighting shame it wisna him. Bazil have you any suggestion re leaving food for him. Sorry Claire x let's hope the rags win the day.
BBKM
Gutted this isn't Ollie. I'm sure we will see him soon x
Clairey
Fingers crossed Joolspin!
Joolspin
Oh I'm sorry it's not Ollie :o( He's still out there somewhere and we WILL get him :o) x
Clairey
Just had another phonecall from the dog warden - the small black dog seen on the golf course is NOT Ollie but a terrier that belongs to the farmer who has fields closeby and apparently he is often seen playing on the golf course (the dog not the farmer.....)
Joolspin
I hope it is Ollie :o)
Joolspin
I can't believe Ollie still hasn't been seen out and about :o( Spaniels are soooo clever and like has been said already, survival instincts kick in and the area he was last seen is surrounded by fields so he would have lots of hiding places, the crops and grass is pretty thick and high so he could be under cover quite easily. I'll try to head over to the area to walk my dogs and will keep hoping that Ollie is home safe soon xx
sweep
I hope so to and poor Claire is having such a tough time what with kids and everything. Her mind is working overtime and you can only imagine her worst fears. But, I am trying to keep her positive and gave her the task to phone every man and his dog as she was stuck at home. all the rags are in place to help him home if he isn't stuck but I would have thot he would have got himself stuck sooner rather than later because he has been through thick wood before being seen at little Ardinn and he has town training in him so path's and roads would be his preferred method of travel. Poster in Dentist and Tesco but will do all the shops 2moro. Off to the duck ponds now.

Just been out searching with binoculars for a few hours all around Garmond, Greeness, windmill area but never saw him. Stopped and asked a lady who was out walking her collie and she had npot seen him, neither had heard of him being missing. We need more media coverage. It is going in local papers soon.
Mal
Just hope he is seen again soon, your all doing such a great job, just need a bit of luck!

Great Podret, lets hope he is still in this area and he picks up her scent xx

Just back from a birthday lunch with my daughter. I also gave posters to Norvite and also Lochter where we ate. They said they would put the poster up. May take Lyla (my cocker) out again. I know she is barky but she is a bitch and she is very tiny.......maybe enough to interest Ollie (too tiny to scare him!)!Last edited: 2011-06-07 14:22:58 by Podret
BBKM
Come on Ollie boy we need to see you x
BBKM
It was a great ending for Poppy and family and remember Ollie is a spaniel too and he will survive, and we are going to get a super reunion for Ollie. Most dogs are very clever when it comes to survival and spaniels are very clever dogs.

Only tip I can think of is maybe take a friendly Springer or Labrador on his route, maybe play ball with it and Ollie may get curious.

I have just been out and talking to a friend about lost dogs and she just told me this. This is the happy part - Her neighbours English Bull Terrier ran off on a walk near a river, searched frantically for days, no sightings at all. Then on 5th day some boys fishing in the river found the dog wedged in a ravine in the river alive. They got him out and he was reunited with his owner. Sad part - after a week of being home the vets decided too much damage had been done to his internal organs and he had to be PTS. So sad but just shows how a dog can survive... even in this incident it was just enough to be reunited and spend his last days with his family, I'm shedding tears now xxLast edited: 2011-06-07 14:06:40 by BBKM

Well Bazil thanks for that I'm now breaking my heart with gladness that Poppy was found. I have springers and I know that they can stand a tremendous pain and suffer 'in silence' Let's hope we get the same result for Ollie. Without the pain part!!!!Last edited: 2011-06-07 13:22:43 by sweep

I've just been out to where he run up main road and then took off across country. Claire has sliced up his bed and PJ's etc from No1 child who he loved playing with. I have illegally pinned them to anything along the main road back home hoping he will get the scent and retrace his steps. Like a needle in a haystack here. The stream he followed goes only one way and stops in the field he was sighted in. The food was being eaten by Magpies so we stopped leaving! and leaving food in the wood - well there are deer, foxes and umpteen dogs at any time of night or day. We all have the harness thought in our heads unpleasant as it is. Come back with some tips please Bazilx
BBKM
Have requested map to be emailed to me. Goona have a look so I can get some idea of where Ollie has been sighted. Looking back through the posts, Ollie's 2 sightings were firstly 2 days after running off on Saturday, this was late afternoon on Monday 30th then again nearly 4 days later Friday 3rd. Hoping you get a sighting today. I hate to say this but I would keep going back to the route from where he initally run off, to where these 2 sightings were just in case his harness has got caught, its 4 days now but stay positive.... see Poppy 29445, she lay 10 days injured on a cliff ledge...Also has the trap been set and are you still leaving food in the same places as previously. Hope this isn't too upsetting but got to be real, his harness could be caught. He could have also ventured further away and have that cozy den in bushes or on a farm or in an old building and only coming out dusk and dawn. Please Ollie show yourself son we all want you home xx Last edited: 2011-06-07 11:16:21 by BBKM

Morn Claire - peaceful walk today in the woods no u know who there! I will take No1s socks fae yesterday also please unless your on the ball and they are in the wash. On the map the stream ends where Stumpy sighted him and if Sable is right he must be following it back down. First the Dentist see you about 10 x

Evening folks. Just back from a lengthy walk and drive with Podret as follows:

Walked the Auchry Road from Miekle Cairnhill to Cuminestown checking both sides of the verge.

Walked the woods & burn along the Cuminestown to New Bythe road up to the hard left bend which takes you to Garmond.

Drove like a nervous learner from Cuminestown up the length of the Auchry Road then turned right on the B9105 until junction with A98. Turned right on a small road which runs along the back of a caravan park and stopped 2 riders on horseback to ask about Ollie. One of the riders said she was actually from Delgaty and was out looking all Thursday evening.

Carried on the road to New Bythe and along the B9027 into Cuminestown.

Took a very slow drive from Cuminestown to Greeness and home but alas no sighting tonight.

I know it's been mentioned that we extend the area where we've put up posters and handed out flyers but not sure what area to target.....any suggestions from those more local than myself and Podret??

Let's stay positive and i'm sure this hard to find wee man will be sighted and home safe soon!!

Clairey
I'm kind of stuck tonight and tomorrow - I've got someone coming over tonight for rabbits and I'm babysitting someone else's tomorrow.... Could do tomorrow evening though...? x
sweep
Claire do you fancy having Gran look after the pinkie's and we meet up and try the stream from Cairnhill down to Mill o Potts - he might pick up his own scent and travel back down - which would be great cause it could be home for the next stop - what do you think x Lots easier when working in pairs as if he bolts somebody will catch the direction. take his red towel and something dirty fae Pinkie No 1 x
Clairey
I know Sweep! 1 & 2 were both asleep in the car [thankfully!] I'm turning into Little Bo Peep!! x

Well - he will always be somewhere to access water so think along those lines.
sweep
Been a funny old day really, thought if I went up and maybe sat for a wee while he might peep round the corner but no - nothing. Called for him and no response. I feel I could walk that field blindfolded now. Even the cows come up for a lick although today more interested in my Paddy Dog. I'll do my farmers tomorrow as my phone isn't coming till Wednesday now. What do we do now? anyone any suggestions? I know Stumpy out wi Podret later but where do you start?Last edited: 2011-06-07 07:05:39 by sweep
Stumpy
Just back from a short drive / walk around Cairnhill and i'm sure Sweep has a second home there!! Walked inside and outside the old barn where the 3 cows & calf are but no sign of Ollie. Drove down through the woods and up on to Auchry road. Thought there was a potential but alas another big crow!! Home for a bite to eat but will be out with Podret later this evening. Going to try extending the search area to the North and see if there's anything. There'll be no need for men in white coats Claire, just a bath and some pampering (for Ollie) will do!!!Last edited: 2011-06-06 15:45:51 by Stumpy
Clairey
I thought I was onto something today - but after getting out the car, scaling a gate and going into an SAS style crouch position I realised that what I was about to try and entice was in fact a black lamb.... Show yourself Ollie Dog or its the men in white coats for me!
BBKM
Come Ollie son where are you? xx
Podret
Stumpy and I will be out later. He has just got home from work.
sweep
this feels funny with no comments - come on Ollie show yourself x
sweep
Thanks Sable was only a thought. will go with the flow. Very quiet today though x
sweep
And that is exactly where he went on Friday after his sighting. Through the buttercup feild which from the road could be mistaken for Oilseed rape, then over fence into Barley feid still keeping windmill in front of you - once thru barley you see a ruin of a building to your right and a dirt track road and a feild that is kinda set aside no crop in it and broom hedging this is where Stumpy and his OH parked off road and whre Ollie did his next escape. If you read Stumpy's last report he tells you where he was nexxt sighted. The feeding point No.1 is at the entrance to the lane at the top of Cairnhill heading towards the Windmills there is a small farm house to your left. I'm off to walk my wee dog now x
sweep
You have to walk from there Jenny. To get up to the windmill take car to cairnhill thento the top then along the dirt track. Claire and I did it from Woodside of Litterty, Stumpy and OH did it by cutting thru a farmers field in their 4 x 4 - but the easiest way is drive back towards Turriff you'll see the sign Cairnhill and drive all the way up there the rest will be easy to see where to go. Sorry I was bedded early. Well done to everyone. And Stumpy really believes he is still in that area. Over the windmill hill there are farms and it could have been a farm dog but lets hope you are right.
jenniec76
Just back in after having a good drive about. I went up the road to woodside of Litterty, drove up as far as I could then parked diagonally so I was facing the field towards the windmills. Don't know if there are dogs over there, but as soon as I shouted Ollie, there was a bark and it wasn't a big dog bark. Heard it twice then there was nothing. I haven't figured out how to get the car up to those windmills yet, don't know my way about the country too well.

Sweep, I spoke to Claire erlier and we are going to keep the same poster image for now. Problem is with using the other one that it only shows the back of a black dog with a harness and collar and it gives no indication what type of dog it is.The original shows it is a cocker spaniel and hopefully people would expect him not to be so well groomed and shiny after being on the loose a while. I could do a little insert to the main photo of the other photo, if that would help.
Stumpy
Evening folks. That's me just back in after driving / walking around the Cairnhill area then over Auchry road to the White Lodge garden centre and through to Cuminestown. Whilst I was at the Cairnhill feeding point (where the red towel was placed) a farmer Podret and I talked to on Friday stopped and said a wee dog (guessed it was Ollie) had actually been at the house opposite where the food / towel was placed. The farmer wasn't sure what day that was but at least if it was Ollie he's not too shy to go near buildings with people in them. Fingers crossed we get a sighting tomorrow. Stay positive and i'm sure he'll be home soon!! Last edited: 2011-06-05 20:39:03 by Stumpy

It so does Bazil. On a plus I have seen more wild life than I could ever expect to see. Hares, Deer a Dog Fox (huge) and a vixon, kestrel when I was with Stumpy and buzzards an otter or maybe a mink and birds aplenty, Claire showed me badger sets amazing!!. I do so hope we get a sighting 2moro we need a bit of a buzz to fuel the batteries. Early bed for me but all in all we have had a great day. Fliers everywhere including Posters all we need is the wee dog!!
BBKM
Its just over 2 days since Ollie was last sighted (bet it seems like a week) be prepared for sightings either tonight or tomorrow morning. If a dog isn't being sighted its either resting for a few days, or maybe found a nice cozy safe den after having ventured a little further away to a new area. Tia who I was chasing for over 2 weeks, her last positive sighting was Thurs at 7pm then 2 other possible sightings in a new area about 1.5 mile away. I postered there and she had actually stayed in this new area for nearly 3 days and was caught here too. She had been hanging around near a farm and dog kennels. Ollie son its time to slow down and show yourself xx Good luck!
sweep
Sable can you swap this new image to the poster now. Everyone has seen the cute one and he is still cute but now they can see what he is actually looking like when he went missing. Does this make sense! especially as he has been clipped in the new photo. Cheers x
sweep
I should manage to get a few conversations with my neighbours 2moro and they are all very nice people (that's barring my immediate neighbour) least said about that the better. But the rest would try to help I am sure. Shame about the kids really but a cute puppy missing they are all bound to want to help find him. and maybe you never know!!! cooking tea now sorry my posts are a bit bitty x Good luck everyone x

Please note that Ollie was still wearing this harness and collar in extra image when he was last seen.

Well done everyone. Fabulous work. Need a result now. Come on Ollie - everyone is wearing out now.

That's us just back from our flyer run, we have been along the B9170 from the Aberdeen road, past Idoch cottages etc until the turn off for Cuminestown, along the Delgaty Straight, in past my sisters at Crossfields, down the road to fintry and back through Garmond but ran out of flyers about halfway through Garmond! No sign of Ollie & most people we spoke to had heard about him. Hopefully get a sighting tomorrow with people being up and about early for work :o) xLast edited: 2011-06-05 17:35:04 by Joolspin
sweep
Just met in with one of the Farmer's wifes' her kids have been out shouting for Ollie and her dog has been barking a bit at night. Maybe that is the reason for no sightings and in that case may even push him into turning for Cumminstown. rather than coming down towards me. Although I wish he would. I've seen some poor dogs today. xx
sweep
I did leave a few poster in the Garmond and the ouses before the Garmond - couldn't do drive's a letterboxes as it was so early 6:30 a.m. and I had already got an ear bashing from the farmer at 05:30 and wasn't risking another. I'll do crossfields and delgaty 2morrow and even along the fraserburgh road. Not coming out tonight as I am knackered only way to say it folks sorry if I offend!!! Just in from walking the woods with my dog still no sign of him there. I'll do Barnyards and the others 2moro. We gotta find him soon x Be in touch 2moro Claire x
Clairey
You could be right about Crossfields Joolspin - I've been HOPING he would make the other point of his triangle Cuminestown but it could easily be the other side. If anyone is going to flyer Garmond you can miss out the farm with the long drive on the left as you are leaving Garmond - this is my OH's parents farm.
Podret
Joolspin, we only had 3 posters left so Gamries Candles said they would run off copies. They didn't say whether they would post them through doors or just put them up round Garmond.

We will be back out tonight after supper. If anyone is going out, can they tell me where so we can try in the opposite direction. Ta x
Clairey
Thank you folks! I'm just back from a flyer/poster mission with Sweep, we've covered Home Farm Auchry(all all houses nearby - but not Garmond) then did Ardinn, Hill of Colp area, then back round by Colp and back to Idoch bridge again. Big thank you to Sweep for motivating me and riding shotgun!
Joolspin
Hi Podret, did you post any flyers through the letterboxes of houses in Garmond? I'm about to head out now with a bunch of flyers and that's the direction I was going to head in.

Actually on looking at the map I wonder if he has headed over towards Crossfields, if he went in that direction that would leave the woods in the middle of his triangle. My sister stays in that direction so I know she is keeping an eye out for him too.Last edited: 2011-06-05 14:18:29 by Joolspin
Podret
Nothing at all. We have walked all the fields by the turbines, down the track, back towards Cuminestown, up the road to Wester Badentyre, Fintry etc etc. We came home via the Garmond road and stopped by Gamries Candles who have said they will run copies off and put up posters here and there so that was kind of them. Just waiting for my Son and Grandson to visit and then back out about 5ish. Is anyone else going out so we can avoid that area and concentrate on somewhere else? We were going to walk the road to Hill of Colp from the Cuminestown/Turriff road junction tonight if nobody else is, just in case he has backtracked.Last edited: 2011-06-05 16:10:50 by Podret

So hope ollie gets found your all working so hard dont give up. See reunited dogs davey back home yesterday after 3weeks . Positive thoughts from glasgow. Good luck folks.

Stumpy - I'm gona add the word STILL to my posters and today's date so if your out and about with posters maybe you could add to yours also. Glad your feeling better. I'm going back to bed for an hour after me brekkie.
Joolspin
Can you send me the updated map too please Claire? I'll print off some flyers today....could someone email me the flyer too and i could concentrate on putting flyers through doors this afternoon. The more people who know about Ollie the better. Fingers crossed for another sighting soon.
Hope you're feeling better now Stumpy :o)
My OH is home on Wed too so I will have a bit more free time to help with the search, hopefully Ollie will be home by then though x
Stumpy
Morning folks. Sorry I didn't get out at sparrow o'clock however my eyes were really painful throughout the night and i've hardly slept. I had hoped to get out around 07:30 but alas the ointment still hadn't kicked in by then. Things are feeling much better and i'll give it another hour then head out in search of Ollie. My apologies for any early birds who were out and about and planned to meet up with me. Right, breakfast and continue the search!! Claire, i'll text you my e-mail address for the updated map. I've done another map with the spot where Ollie was bitten and the two sightings, text me your email address if anyone would like one. MASSIVE thank you to all of you for your hard work x
sweep
Stumpy will be out again if he is not already - we are still on the case x
Clairey
Thank you Sweep! - I aggree, Ollie has moved on again, hopefully closer to Cuminestown....I was thinking the same Sable and was going to speak to the Banffie too as he could be headed more towards the coast. I'll also phone NECR again and get another 7 days broadcast. From where Ollie was bitten and the two sightings on either side of it form pretty much a straight diagonal line with Delgaty Woods in the middle PLEASE let us have another sighting today!
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Sweep - you are a star. Everyone up there is putting such a lot of effort into finding Ollie. Looks like he may have moved on. What I do, is look at the map and work out a triangle from where he went missing to where the sightings are, in straight lines, and they "usually" stay within there - give or take. We need more sightings.Claire, I think you need to call the P & J and the Advertiser tomorrow first thing, to see if they will do an article on Ollie with a photo. P & J might be more obliging seeing as you have had a paid ad in, and the Advertiser is usually helpful with these stories. We need people to be on the lookout everywhere in the area and let them know that Ollie has NOT been found yet.He is still missing and we need eveyeryone to be on alert and ready to call if he is seen.
sweep
Thats me back home. I would say that he is no longer in the field that Stumpy sighted him in. Tried being quiet and took my stick to get into deeper grass. Did try my whistle but nothing. Great wild life out though so a positive out of a negative! Bazil on our triangle do we count the point where he went missing? Sorry Claire I so desperately want to find him for you. Cup of tea and a break, shower and b.fast for now. Hope the phone's ring. Oh I also drove round to the Fintry junction then took the Garmond road then along Cumminston low road and back to Idoch Bridge, Little Ardinn, Cairnhill and picked up my dishes and on my way I put out some posters. Will print more and go with'OH' later.
BBKM
Like Sable has posted, when a dog gets lost it kicks into survival mode and all his senses become extra sharpened, smell, hearing and sight etc. A dog can survive for at least 3 months living in the wild. Ollie will be like that now, his one aim is to survive. Dogs usually travel in straight lines when lost and usally have 3 points and this is how a triangle is formed. He may branch a liitle further away sometimes and if he doesn't find his home he will come back to his triangle. This is usually when you have no sightings as he has gone to a different area and if no posters no one calls. Hope this helps xx Good luck tomorrow morning xx
Clairey
I've uploaded a different 'extra image', taken on the morning he went missing hoping that it would show Ollie's collar and harness (that he is believed to still be wearing) a bit better; but it seems to showcase his love of sticks more. Please give your self up Ol, we're missing you!
sweep
Hope your staying positive Claire x 4 sleeps till you 'OH' gets home - love that 'OH'!!! and then he can give that ollie a bit of earache also - he can join the gang x out of every negative comes a positive - proven fact.
sweep
Stumpy if i'm awake I will be there x if not then I'll have a look at posts and come find you. Thank you for the translation of BYOB that would have kept me awake all night!!!! I didn't get the 'OH' hehe. Your a star iv got your mobile so be in touch 2moro. Here's to Ollie's last night of freedom cause he's gona get earache fae me fae his mum fae you ........ and then its play ball time yippee!!! Well done Stumpy for keeping us all positive. x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Even if Ollie is a daytime dog in his normal life, this is not normal now, and he has returned to his instincts as he is surviving by them. Dawn and dusk are when they "usually" come out of hiding, so I reckon this is the best time to spot him. Saying that, it does not mean that he will not appear during daytime either, but evening and early morning are known to be the best times.Hope this helps.Last edited: 2011-06-04 18:54:07 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Claire, thank you. I'll get my bits & pieces together and head out early tomorrow. If anyone wants to join me i'll park up at the croft ruins and hike from their (latest i'll be parked and ready to go is 05:30). I can also pick people up in Cuminestown circa 05:15 if required, BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakfast). Cheers ;)) xLast edited: 2011-06-08 12:38:42 by Angus
Clairey
Thank you Stumpy! I would say that Ollie is a daytime dog - he knows that when its dark its time to go to bed and as soon as the kitchen light was turned off he knew this was his cue and headed straight for his bed. My 'OH' is home on wednesday so either of us will be able to join in early morning missions then BUT fingers crossed we find the brute before then!
Stumpy
Can't add much more to what Sweep has posted i'm afraid (I had to laugh when the Magpies came around though) but i'm absolutely convinced we'll find him and he'll be fine.

Question: Do we know if Ollie is a morning or night dog?

I'm keen to look very early (circa 04:30) but if he's a morning-lark kinda dog there's maybe no point as he'll be awake and alert. I'd like the element of surprise (not fear) if possible as I have a few buildings i'd like to check before he starts his daily routine.

I'll be out and about before Podret has stirred but if there are any early morning folks out there i'd happily meet up.

Never give up, never surrender....we'll find him, have faith ;)
sweep
Thanks for that Stumpy did the stake out and a good job too that he was on his own - cause I think I would have laughed so much that I was feeding Magpie's I cuda had an accident!!!!!

Stumpy has driven outside the area covered so he has thought along that wave - thinking just widen the search area a little like New Bythe - perhaps Gamrie 2moro as the area he was seen in is within both of these villages. We all have flyers in the car and will drop as we stop and ask.
Joolspin
Well done Sweep and Stumpy for your stake out :o) Has anyone been round the houses in the area with flyers? Could also expand the circle that Ollie was seen in and drop flyers through houses in that area too. I should be free tomorrow afternoon but don't want to cover old ground if that's already been done.
sweep
Well no sign people - but we have NOT GIVEN UP yet. Stumpy feels in his gut that Ollie is still in this area there is so much broom to hide it makes it so difficult. We are going to try dog whistles hoping it might catch his attention and if he has done any work in the past he will recognize the sound. It was Magpie's that had a feed, they have eaten so much Bakers they shouldn't be flying!!!! So it's doing it all again 2moro with the hope of a sighting early on. and Bazil we now have 2 points to make our triangle. I just wish the wind would stay silent, the crows would sleep all day, and the hares would just lie down then all of our hearts wouldn't jump with hope and then go flat with disappointment. Thank you Stumpy for your company. Enjoy a well earned glass o wine x see you both the morn. x
BBKM
Come on Ollie son be seen x

You are all fantastic people. Restores your faith in human nature to see this.
sweep
We are on a stake out now - Stumpy is in situ with his trusty telescope im away to do girlie things like shopping and at least we will know if it's him or not in 2 or 3 hours. I will relieve stumpy once I've walked my wee dog x thanks for all the tips you are a fountain of knowledge xxx
BBKM
Don't worry sweep, ticks can be removed and he can be wormed. I'm sure Ollie will be home soon. When you get the next sighting you may need to get a group together, then a few people can go to each sighting area at the same time and sit and wait patiently. Try and work out his 3 main sighting points, then link up and they should form a triangle. Each side will be a rough guide of the routes he is travelling. Remember be prepared to sit for at least 2-3hrs with binoculars too. Have some smelly treats and a slip lead and if he comes, lie low, drop treats for him but with no sudden movements, gain his trust. If he does get close enough try throwing a coat or something over him to slow him down and stop him running off. Good luck xx
sweep
OK - Stumpy on his way and is going to stake out to see who is eating the food x I bet it's crows!!!! although funny the other two food stations haven't been touched ! X your fingers, legs, eyes whatever xx
sweep
Oh Bazil we wish you were here tooooo x didn't even think about the food and then a rest period. It's not enough to fill him up Bazil but enough to keep him interested I think. I'm worried about the fly's poor Ollie he'll come back with ticks and worms!!! but he'll be back I'm sure xx
sweep
Well I'm back home again x almost a repeat of yesterday absolutely no sign. Earlier I refilled the Bakers meaty chuncks as the first food point had gone completely and when Claire visited after me there was still food there But when I got back up there the Bakers had gone but sardines left - did my hunt for Ollie getting back now and the sardines have gone also. replenished the Bakers again x hope it's ollie having a munch but how can we be sure? Sit quiet somewhere and wait? Stumpy is heading out again shortly. I'm for the shower x Was nice to see so many people out looking - I go without my dog because he is upset after being bitten just a thought x
Clairey
Thank you flogoho! hadn't thought of them, just phoned and left a message. I aggree with you Joolspin he could easily be on the move again, Ollie was a 'townie' before he came to live in Cuminestown and I think is definitely used to walking on pavements and roads rather than grass so he may be more inclined to 'travel' along tarmac roads - hoping for a sighting soon...
BBKM
Wish I lived closer to help you, I am in Durham/Tyne & Wear. Remember if he is getting a good feed he will rest more xx
Joolspin
Yeah, I agree about the cat traps prob not being big enough unless they're designed for fat cats ;o) I'm guessing that we need to be sure Ollie is staying in the same area before traps are set? With no sightings today yet, he could be on the move again.
flogoho
Don't think a cat trap would be big enough unless he is a very small cocker spaniel.Have you been in contact with BARKK just incase?
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Just been out searching up there with hubby but no sign of him. Saw other people out there searching too. Bazil there is only one dog shelter here and it is in Aberdeen about 35 miles away. They are only open this morning and then closed till Monday.Dw works out of there but she is on hols now.
BBKM
Have you contacted any rescue centres or cat & dog shelters. I do know NESSR has a trap which we borrowed to trap Tia but they are based in Northumberland. Come on Ollie son show yourself again x
sweep
Hubby up a ladder at the mo so I can't leave him incase he falls. Will get out again by lunch. I do hope there is a sighting soon at least we get an idea on where to start on the haystack!
Clairey
Just spoken to SSPCA, they claim to have no traps large enough and if they needed one in this area they would borrow it from the 'local' dog warden... However someone is calling me back on Monday with more info/tips. Thank you to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning lie-in to go Ollie hunting - here's hoping for another sighting very soon x
Stumpy
Morning all. Not long back in from first outing of the day. Went up and in to the old steading (by the Bull & his young wife) but no sign of Ollie. Back tracked down through the woods and up to the Cuminestown / Auchry Road then down off road to the field where we saw him in yesterday. I checked the croft ruins and old stone water tank but no joy. I went up to the point where he emerged yesterday and whilst there was no sign of him there was a good area of flattened grass where he may have lay down / slept so I left a dish of food just in case. I've come back home to get Podret set for her busy day and our dogs suitably spoiled. I'll be back out later to continue the search. Received a text from the gent who's wife is a vet and no joy there as they don't have dog traps, sorry. Stay positive Claire as i'm sure we'll find him soon!!Last edited: 2011-06-04 10:20:55 by Stumpy

Spoke to receptionist at New Deer this morning, she doesn't think they have any traps but is going to ring Laurence to see if he knows of any. She did say the Cats Protection League have got traps, if we don't get any joy with the SSPCA they could be our next port of call. Hope there is some sightings today x

Claire I didn't see your red towel at all do you think he has picked it up? would that be too far fetched? catch up with you later - Stumpy on way home to see to his dogs etc and will be back out also. Good thing is he has left food also at another location. So one way or another we will catch him x
sweep
Just back home after checking food dishes. Met in with Stumpy but will leave him to do his report. I left food in three different locations. The one at the entrance to the lane was completely empty so refilled this morning. The one half way along still full of food and the one at the end beside the Bull and his Mrs still full and the bits that I scattered around there also not touched. No sighting of him roaming anywhere this morning. Gona breakfast and brush teeth and will go out again.

Sorry Claire, I had forgotten you had told me that, but you could leave out your dirty clothing to perhaps resurrect memories of comfort while he was with you.

Good idea, Reynard......look at reunited dog Pebble's story, it was another dog that led to her being caught after a month on the run, but also the man involved was very patient and a lot can be learnt from how he reacted at the end. Good luck everyone, I have been following this story and hope for a happy ending soon.

Well done every one you are truly amazing!
Is Ollie at all Ball crazed , I have springers and a ball would bring them out of hiding I am pretty sure , no noise though, no direct eye contact just bouncing a ball up and down if you know roughly where he is hiding ,,,,,,,,,maybe?
Good Luck!

Blimey you've all been busy since I logged out this morning!! So glad he's been seen. Couldn't stop thinking about him all day and wondering if any of you had had any luck today. Even got my daughter to log on from her i phone in the car on the way home tonight! Need to gain his trust now and get him used to the feeding station. Can't help wondering though if too many people out looking at once might spook him if he's a bit nervous? You are an amazing bunch of people - keep up the good work xx

Fantastic Joolspin and Stumpy.

One of the guys who works for me, his wife is a vet, i'll text him and see if she could borrow a trap. I'm a dog groomer at Meadows Vets in Newmachar but we own New Deer vets now so I'll give them a phone tomorrow to see if they have anything we can borrow :o)
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
I don't know anyone with a trap up here. Doglost can usually organise it but they are all down south.Police will usually give the job to the DW. You could try calling firstly SSPCA then Mrs Murray's cat and dog home (dog pound Aberdeen) in the morning to see if they have one you could borrow. They are open in the morning or ask local vet (Deveron?)if they know of one to borrow.I wonder if Laurence Brain Vet at New Deer would have anything you could borrow from his wildlife sanctuary.
I take it no sightings tonight? Did you go out with his bed and some clothes from home Claire?

Hi sweep, yes Ollie has always had his name, its the same on his pedigree papers - we liked it and it seemed daft to change it. Hi Joolspin, I know it seems crazy that nowhere else would have a suitable trap but I think Sable was going to look into it and let us know - here's hoping...x
Joolspin
Is the dog warden the only person who would have traps that could be set up? It seems such a shame that we know the area Ollie is in but will have to track him for the next couple of days before traps can be set. Since he won't go to anyone, traps seem like the best way of catching him safely.....What about the police or the SSPCA? Just a thought x
sweep
Claire maybe a stupid ? but has Ollie always been his name? Hubby just asked me that and I never thought to ask that ? x
Clairey
Thank you soooooo much everyone! Sable is spot on - you are all fantastic and I really would be struggling without you all and your positivity!! Fingers crossed it is just a matter of time now. If anyone else is able and would like to join our merry crew of Ollie Seekers text me your email address on the number above and I can send you a new map of the area where he was last seen. All help is very much appreciated x
sweep
oops halo slipping cough cough!!! we still need leg work so if anyone free in the morning we need you!!
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
WOW !! You people are just a bunch of fantastic shiny stars. If we had people like you in the vicinity of lots of other missing dogs all over the UK who go missing, there would be a lot more found and re-united. You are all so kind giving up your time to find Ollie. A worthy cause though I admit.I just want to get him home as much as anyone, then we can all breath a sigh of relief.Last edited: 2011-06-04 08:32:54 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
sweep
Hi Claire just a note to say keep your chin up x everything is positive at the moment, he's running us a merry dance - he's kept himself in good shape - he's finding water and I hope road kill - so everything is positive - there is food down for him and water and the weather is not going to be bad - you just need to stock up on vaseline to remove the thousands!!!! only kidding - of ticks he takes home - or as my chum calls them - a few friends hehe x I have umpteen "tom toms" which are tick removers and they work so don't buy. you look after your little pinkie princesses and we will find Ollie soon Podret and OH said we would - didn't they!!!!!fingers crossed.
sweep
Hi Podret x just back from placing sardines, dog food and Bakers biscuits and water at three locations on the Cairnhill lane where Claire and I went to the derelict building where the Bull and his Mrs was. I saw the ruin you are speaking about and I will trek over in the morning once Pad has had her morning constitutional x I think he will head back to the main road and hope its the gardenston one at least he only has home to find if he turns the right way this time!!!!! There again maybe a Royal feed will keep him at Cairnhill everything crossed and OH I hope your resting those eyes now take care. xx
Podret
OH and I went out again but nothing. We tramped the fields and hedges where we saw him last and then drove completely round the area. We will try and get out again tonight when it is cooler. If not we will be out again first thing tomorrow. Just to add..... to the people searching...As you face the turbines there are the ruins of a croft on your right hand side. Behind it and up the track about 20ft is an old stone water container (dry now) which the farmer thinks if he climbed in, he wouldn't get out again so can you check this place too each time you are up there?Last edited: 2011-06-03 17:03:18 by Podret
Clairey
I have spoken to the 'stand in' dog warden as our so called 'local' one (based in Inverurie) is on annual leave but we could have their dog traps on Mon/Tues if we need them. HUGE thank you to evryone who gave up their time to help today! x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Thanks everyone. If we can contain him there, the dog warden may come and set a trap for him - but this is Friday and I don't know if they are on duty on a Saturday and it is probably too late for today.
Joolspin
I'm just back from the area and no sign of him but it's pretty hot out there so he could be lying low to cool down. I've dropped food around the area so hopefully he'll find it and stick around. He's so close the little monkey, if only he would go to someone. x
sweep
Hi Barney and Ozzie mum, yes that bridge on the Idoch road has a stream under it and I was gona do the walk that Ollie has already done walk to cumminston along the stream edge but the little monkey beat me to it. He was running up quite a fast/busy road towards Gardenstown but of course was off road by the time I got to him. Met in with Claire and Mill o Potts nad then met in with Podret and her hubby in their four wheel chariot. We will get him! x
sweep
Podret Claire and Podret's poor hubby recovering from his op yesterday - had three hours. Podret and hubby actually saw him but boy he is fast. Still has harness on as Sable has alterted you all to that fact. We reckon he had gone to rest around 12:30 but good news that he has been seen again. I will def go back out as he is so close and thank god he is out of those blooming woods!!!!! but bad news folks there is another wood to worry about - he is one smart little cookie x early morning I think and late evening best look time as it's too hot - but like all good things the weather is gona get a wee bit colder so there a good chance he'll be on bush walk more xx
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Ollie has been seen several times in the same area now but will not come to anyone.quiet movements and voices if you see him. He may be likely hiding under bushes just now to stay cool.Leave food out for him in several places to contain him in the area.Last edited: 2011-06-03 15:53:40 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Joolspin
I'll head over just now too, fingers crossed everyone :o)
Goldenfrodo
Good luck everyone xx Come on Ollie, its time to go home.
jenniec76
That is fantastic news that he has been seen again! God I wish I wasn't working so I could get out and look for him. I really hope Ollie comes home today, good luck to everyone today. xx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I'm on tenterhooks here! Just about to go out and won't be home until at least 8pm and no access to the internet all day!! Please, please, please let me come home to good news!!
BBKM
So pleased, lets hope this is the day this cutie is back home safe xxx

So excited, I forgot to say that Ollie still had his collar and harness on when he was seen.

Phoned NECR radio just now to alert them to broadcast this news and they have been very helpful and are going to do so.Last edited: 2011-06-03 08:57:11 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Have called Podret and Sweep who are going out to help, along with Claire.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Great news!! We were obviously posting at the same time Sable! Can anyone get up there to help???
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Come on everyone, can you help?
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Hi Sweep. You mention a little bridge - does that mean there's water close by? He could well be staying close to a stream/river/lake as he'll need water. so try to check any long grass or woods near a water supply. Hope today's search proves fruitful xx
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Ollie has been seen, up past Cuminestown going past Mill of Pot up the Gardenstown road, towards the 3 wind turbines.
sweep
Sorry I didn't get out last night - I'm up tho and going with Paddy on our daily wake up walk. Then I'm coming home and then I will go back to the little bridge on the bottom road and walk towards the main delgaty cumminston road. I can't think he is still in the wood he would have to be whimpering now especially if he's caught. Come on God give us a break and let us find him please!!!!
BBKM
Stay patient, i'm sure he will be sighted again very soon xx Ollie stay safe little man xx
Unknown
Poor thing - hope he is found soon and is ok. Liz xx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Hi guys. Just remember that if you do spot him to keep everything very calm. Don't chase after him, instead sit or lay on the ground and, avoiding eye contact, speak softly or whimper. This will hopefully relax him and catch his curiosity. Good luck to you all - you certainly deserve it xxx
Clairey
Thank you so so much for all of your help so far - its been fantastic and helped to keep me positive! If any of you can, would you be able to walk areas of the wood esp the quarry when it is dark with a bright torch or lamp? Linda thinks he may be trapped in a hole or stuck under some branches and the light from the torch will reflect in his eyes and give away his hiding spot. Its going to be very tricky for me to do have the two girls and I have someone going out tonight to try but if some of you could maybe try too that would be fantastic! thanks again guys x
sweep
Not a peep today - wood noisy with the Forestry men strimming grass - it's gona frieghten the life oot o him.x Open to ideas on where to try next x wil try tracking parcel to see when I can get out 2moro x
Joolspin
Well I'm free tomorrow afternoon/evening and am up for meeting up to organise areas to BBQ in or to plant food and sit in wait, anything to get this wee man home again x
Podret
Hubby just back from having an op on his eyes so cannot get out today. So sorry. Count me in for anything after today though!
sweep
Now that's a good idea!!! sausages!!! yum yum but I'm sorry they have to be John Brown the Butchers i'm addicted!!! Well lets see how the idea goes down with the others x Gona pop down onto the hospital road heading to the back gate in an hour - Bloomin parcel nae coming today after all x too hot for him to be going around so not very hopeful x
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
That sounds a very good idea Sweep. Has anyone already suggested a portable barbecue with some nice smelly sausages? He must be hungry by now, so hopefully this will entice him out of hiding xx
sweep
I am waiting for a delivery so can't get out for now. Don't know where to start. Feel I've done the whole wood. Let's hope the Advertiser appeal works. What about - all local dog walkers - members of these posts meet at the wood without dogs and we all take an area and sit quietly of an evening to see if he appears. we would have to cover the whole wood. Clair has been out with hoover bag dust my Paddy was sniffing it so please Ollie get that nose in the air x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Oh dear. So sorry to hear this. Where could Ollie be now? He is in the Advertiser today.
sweep
Well I have just lost the plot with the owner of the dog who bit Ollie. Seems he jumped up at an older lady and gave her a bruise on her chin the other week. Was dancing over my dog who is 13 years old and has bad hips and another two springers that we had met and were having a chat. Her dog is completely out of control and she has no recall skills whatsoever. Says - and I don't know if I'm aloud to name either of them - that he was only playing with Ollie "hasn't a bad bone in his body" she knows this after 10 months!!!! No sign of our Ollie x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Agreed Bazil. That often is the pattern they take and Ollie was running around wildly the day after ha ran off, so he will be exhausted. I was just telling one of Ollie's helpers yesterday about Tommy -re-united-29997. He was not spotted once since the minute he went missing in the middle of a country park, but turned up a week later filthy, thinner and with ticks, when a man found him in a park futher away, wandering around.
sweep
He has got to be cream crackered by now - so I would agree he is maybe having a bit of a rest. I go round with my springer - she is quiet so won't panic him and we listen - baby crows put you off just now they sound like whimpering and the wood has the best acoustics ever - just a nightmare job - but let's hope we can have one very OLLIE party up there in the end.
DogLostReynard
bazil is so right (Tia 29792) see also this one Wally 30074 another happy ending
Good Luck for a reunited soon! xxx

Clairey
Thank you bazil, I have been finding it hard to stay positive esp now the sightings have dried up, but its good to know that there is hope. There is an article on him going in the local and regional newspaper tomorrow and I'm heading out again in the morning. Fingers crossed.
BBKM
Please don't panic, i know its difficult not to when the sightings stop but he will probably have a rest area somewhere where he will not be seen or may have ventured a little further away. I have just spent 12 days trying to catch Tia a Min Pinscher who is in reunited now, we got her on Sunday. Read her postings, she would be sighted 2-3 times a day for 2/3 days then nothing for a couple of days. Stay positive and keep postering all surrounding areas. Come on Ollie son show yourself so your family can take you home xx
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Yes, it is worrying that he is wearing a harness because it is such a big vast area that it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. There have been loads of people out looking and calling, but no response yet. I had also thought of contacting Ollie's former owner and mentioned it to Claire, but apparently this is not possible.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I don't like suggesting this, but is there any chance his harness could have got caught on something? There was a very sad case a couple of years ago when a dog's collar got caught up on something and unfortunately he wasn't found in time. If you can do anything that is likely to make him bark, like calling his name, squeaking a favourite toy, etc please do so. Stay safe Ollie until you are found xx
Joolspin
Would it be possible to get something from Ollie's previous owner to use to scent a trail? Just thought it might be a more familiar scent for him. I've still got everything crossed here for him to come out of hiding soon. Won't manage over to the woods tomorrow but if he's not home by Friday I will head over again to help look :o) Keep safe Ollie x
Podret
Just did pretty much the same circuit as Sweep along with another lady. There were a few people out there looking for Ollie bless them. My hubby drove around in the car to areas within the last sighting circle that Claire gave me, but no joy. I have to take him to the hospital tomorrow but as soon as I get back I will head over there again.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Might have been a fox that removed the fawn but hope Ollie got some. I know that sounds bad but the thought of him starving is worrying on top of everything else. Thanks so much for all you are doing Sweep.
sweep
Just in from another 2 hour hike. No sighting - area walked was along the top of the wood where the double fencing runs around. my chum Claire found a fawn that had died and put it where her dog could not get at it but the fawn has gone - not saying it was Ollie's tea as would have difficult for him to get over the fence prob a buzzard. back down to bottom track along to trout farm up castle hill at castle car park and thru the middle following the deer tracks nothing - out onto the path at Delgaty gate - I hate this - Please God let us find him soon. x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Thank you Podret. I hope he is safe. This is becoming worrying with no sightings.Claire has been out scenting areas today. Hope he picks this up.
Podret
Walked the woods and the main road but saw and heard nothing. Have been in touch with some people in Greeness and left posters. Also gave my postie a poster. Left another at Upper Keithen Riding School. Will leave one with my neighbour who is in the local walking club. Put one into the local garden centre at Turriff. Just waiting for hubby to get in and we will go back out again.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Great Sweep. I will email some fliers and posters to you now.
sweep
Walked straight up long path yesterday and walked to little Ardinn along the Barley field at the side of the woods and down onto main Road absolutely no sign of him. In the afternoon I walked from the back gate up trail to the right which is what we call Yellow brick road as it winds then straight up to the top and back down the long straight path to the gate at Delgaty then through puddle walk. no sign no whimpering no barking. Maybe we could do a letter box run and post some posters through what do you think.
sweep
Thank you Sable - I am now part of the gang.
Joolspin
Keeping everything crossed here for a sighting today :o)
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Just spoken to Claire and she is off out soon with stuff for scenting trails, although we do not know what area he has gone to now, something has to be tried to get a sighting. It is also in the P & J today.
scootjockey
Hes adorable wishing him a safe and speedy return. We have a young chocolate cocker just as adorable as Ollie, its frightening how beautifull, friendly and how fast these working cockers are im terrified of the same thing happening to Charlie, could be out of sight in seconds but have hell of nose to pick up your scent. Please god help this clever little chap home.Tays mum.

Clairey
Thank you all for your help! If anyone would like a map of the area Ollie was last sighted in please text me your email address (on the mobile number above) and I'll email you it, I've highlighted the area we believe him to be hiding in and the point in the wood where he was bitten.
Podret
I live near Greeness, how can I help? I don't know the Delgaty Woods area very well I am afraid.
flogoho
Will drive home past the woods after my night shift tomorrow morning in the hope that I may see him.Hope that he is found soon.
jenniec76
Had a good look round the field he was in yesterday but no luck. Had a metal bowl with some dry food in it, was hoping he would hear me shaking it. Oh Ollie, where are you!
Joolspin
I'm just back from the area, I spoke to a lady at the farm but she hasn't seen him today so I went to the woods in case he has back tracked but I didn't see him.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Just been out searching for a few hours but no sightings and nobody else I asked has seen him either. I have given Claire scenting advice but the problem is it is such a huge dense and vast area - where to start and end is the problem.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Are you "scenting" in the area of the sightings? Also try leaving an item of clothing with your scent on in the field - this has worked time and time again for other missing dogs. (If you haven't been sent details of scenting, please post and will explain!!) Good luck xx
Clairey
Just back from searching the field around Ardinn and Little Ardinn Farm where he was sighted early today (about 5pm) but were unable to see him. Huge thanks to everyone who helped. A few people around the farm have seen him in the same field earlier in the day but have not been able to catch him. Going to speak to the Dog Warden tomorrow for help/tips.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Yes -local radio has it being broadcast 3 times a day.
Cuffey
Perhaps try local radio and a message out through Neighbourhood Watch
BBKM
Oh good luck, hope he is home safe tonight xx

Hope the gorgeous Ollie is home soon x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Ollie is down beside Ardinn farm and Little Ardinn farm in the fields
Clairey
Thank you folks, I've been driving around the Idoch bridge area and the road just past there that takes you to Greeness but no luck so far. I spoke to a lady earlier this morning who said she saw him not long after he had run off on Saturday heading along the long straight clay path at the very top of Delgaty woods heading towards the Ardinn side carpark, this would kind of tie in with the sighting at Idoch bridge. Thanks again for all your help - we really appreciate it x
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Thanks very much jenniec76
jenniec76
I will be going back out to look again this evening with my daughter.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Probably best if you call Claire to find out what the plan is Joolspin. Thank you so much for helping to search.
Joolspin
Was hoping that Ollie would have came out of hiding last night. I am able to come over later on today and help look for him if he hasn't been found by then. If there is anywhere specific that you would like me to look then let me know :o)
Clairey
Thank you everyone! I have put posters up at all the Delgaty wood car parks and one at the 'cross roads' point in the centre of the wood where he was bitten. Everyone at the Castle and fishery have my details and have been very helpful. Someone thinks they may have seen him on the road by Idoch bridge, I've been round by all the houses and farms there tonight but still no luck. Thanks again for all your help x
jenniec76
Been out looking for Ollie for 2 hours, unfortunately no sign of him. Will try again tomorrow. Stay safe Ollie. x

I will share on facebook, i hope he is home very soon....

Have called Claire and given advice, added to
www.LostDogs-Scotland.org.uk and sent poster and fliers by email. If anyone wants them forwarded to them please post on here and I will email them to you.
Joolspin
If you need any people to help with the search I can head over to the woods tomorrow. Hopefully Ollie will be found safe and well very soon :o)

I'm so sorry Ollie is missing, I've let all my doggie friends know, and we'll be at Delgaty looking and shouting for him. Have you asked the people at Delgatie Castle to keep an eye out for him and put up a poster there? It just might help.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Owner has only had him for one week. Everything possible is being done to find Ollie, except the DW who will be contacted tomorrow.
