Sadly, I didn't get to visit Shady as Jazz has advised me she has now moved on. But at least she is happy, healthy and safe. I shall always remember her frolicking in her buttercup field! I hope she gets the loving family she deserves - her forever home. Bless you little one. Kim x

I think I've finally got all the posters down, but if anyone sees one, please can you remove it. That way we won't upset the council. Thanks. Any update on Vets, Jazz?
Jazz
if anyone knows of a free or cheap dog trap for jackie at petsearch please, or any dog catching equipment she can use it for the next dogs then. thank you xxx
Julia
So thrilled she's doing OK, and is now safe and sound. Was very happy to be able to help.
I had not been online yesterday/saturday so didn't know at that time a trap was needed. For future reference, I have both a manual as was used yesterday, and an automatic trap that can be used for small dogs. In fact we had just got back to the car to go home to collect an automatic trap when we spotted the lady who was waiting there with Shady on her dog's lead :-)
Border Girl
That is such fantastic news that she is back home with her foster mum. Well done to everyone involved - you did great work. She looks a real cutie and has obviously made herself at home already. Don't dogs have a way of looking as if they don't know what all the fuss is about? I am so pleased she is now safe (please stay that way Shady). xx

I am so pleased this little girl is home - I was too far away to help but have been watching her page all day. Now she can rest and be pampered like she deserves. All you people that have been out there trying to catch her deserve medals. I did try to find her facebook page - could someone let me know the name so that I can see further updates ? Most of all - enjoy being loved Shady as you are one gorgeous girl. Stay safe. Julie xxx

I am so glad she has been caught! Easter was put on hold until she was! :-) Thank you Jotty, Jayne & Shereen - for everything. Would I be able to see her at some point, Jazz? Just for minute? Leodog, I didn't leave you on your own - Mal & Jackie were there, just in different places, but I was told to go home by both as I was upset about the drugs, as you know. It was Jackie that was with me all day and I called Mal for reinforcements. Thank you everyone. All that matters is, Shady is home and safe. Well done and thank you to all who cared. I am so pleased and relieved. I am so glad the drugs didn't kick in beforehand. Have taken the posters down there and will go out tomorrow to take them all down at the Moorhen and Gilston etc. Someone asked me to phone them (via my mum) but I don't know who it was, can you put a note on here & I will. Thank you. God bless you little one, I love you. xLast edited: 2011-04-24 20:42:51 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Jazz
after all these days of not coming near people, she ran straight upto the the 12 year old girl, and was wanting a fuss. so the mum put a lead round her and rang me. julia was almost stood next to her at the time,so she was in the trap and here quick. the pills are starting to work and shes falling asleep. the stitches are out of her face. they are all in her belly, its a bit swollen but I have the ABS the vet gave me,so will get her to my vet on tuesday. if someone can come with me, holding her tight in her straitjacket lol

DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Thanks everyone!
Jennie
Thats all good news. Phew. Will be available after 4pm tomorrow, god willing she be caught and safe by then, but if not book me in. Will call jazz now.
Leodog
I have just come back. I got there about 2.30pm I don't know where Jackie was, but it was Mel that had been there all day, and Kim. The drugs that were given to Shady didn't touch her. She was still running around 2 hours later. At one point she was about 10 ft away from me. She looks well, her coat is shiney, she's alert and cunning. We have taken the trap up near to where her bed is, but not intruding on it. She can't see anyone standing there as there is a little place, like a hide, that people can stand in and won't be seen. Anyone can walk through the field and leave their scent there. I would think that Shady is used to different smells by now, in that field. When I left, the last she was seen was in the field next door. I was left alone there for an hour before someone came and relieved me because Kim wouldn't stay. Shady has food, water and shelter and it's not cold. She needs to be caught, obviously, but she is fine.
Littlelab
Jennie, perhaps you could so a shift tomorrow? Can you call Jazz to arrange please
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Have spoken to Kimmybear and Jazz....who are both exhausted with the huge amount of work they have been involved with trying to get Shady home. The clarification here is there are now two or three freshies there monitoring the situation....watching and waiting. we may need more tomorrow....and well done to all that have been helping....Shady is still in the area.
Jennie
Just got in, if you need me to sit for a couple of hours i can. 07791304872. Confused now, has she stayed in the area or moved on? Last edited: 2011-04-24 18:13:09 by Jennie

Its not OLD Harlow, its Abercrombie - Passmores old museum.
Jazz
im sorry you feel like that kim, but there isnt many people available to sit 24/7 watching her. I didnt tell anyone to stand by her, I said to hide and watch for whenshe drops. I dont know how many humans are all over it, but jackie needs to go home poor sod. we have got a couple coming all the way from brentwood to help now. if you have gone, there are 2 people there as far as I know. im running up a mobile bill with everyone else trying to help. Im happy to back off and let someone else do it, but we are all trying to work together. nobody has got close enough to see stitches in her face to definately say its her yet. Im sorry your upset xxx

Please get Martin! Someone??? We need a voice of reason - we may have lost her already. I'll pay him!Last edited: 2011-04-24 17:42:03 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Jazz
his mobile number said unavailable when I tryed it yesterday
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Everything's gone wrong! I was only away an hour and they've drugged her and invaded her sanctuary. That field was her safe place and now humans are all over it and the trap has been moved right next to her bed of straw with humans standing very close by. She won't go back unless everyone disappears. Why couldn't they just sit and wait patiently at the trap where it was before, away from her safety net? It may have taken days but it would have worked. I am so upset. I have come home but balling my eyes out.Last edited: 2011-04-24 17:39:15 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

I have the number of a guy called Martin and he is a Dog trapper he may very well come and trap, but he may need paying 07815 131164. Romanian Animal Aid used him to assist in capturing their Romy rescue who escaped her mum
Jazz
that would be brilliant!thank you
If you could come to the old harlow museum, passmores house CM18 6YL

if you park before the house, as you have turned off the main road, the parking has bollards round it. then walk left along the cycle track. there is a field on your right with private property on it. shes right there
jane123
Hi im in church langley now and can come and help if needed where do i need to go ?? Do you need anything else bought out there ??
Jazz
there are some fantastic people out there
Littlelab
Found a wondeful volunteer who is going to drive an hour with her hubby to relieve Jackie, she is getting in the car now
Jazz
if these pills work, and I know they do as I give them to my dog in the fireworks, at the moment its a case of someone going down there and waiting for her to drop. there is a lady in surrey with a large collie sized trap willing to come half way
Littlelab
I am frantically making phone calls looking for another trap that can be left without having to operate it
Jazz
we have given her something as shes staying in the field and the 2 people are staying back and watching her, but if someone can relieve jackie, shes been there all day poor sod. we hope they will take effect soon. if we hadnt, we could have people watching her for however many days. if they knock her out, we can have her in the trap and home here today
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
If there is anyone out there who could help with a shift at the trap, please, please do so. Jackie and I won't be able to stay all night as well. Need reinforcements. Call Jackie on 07905154470 or Jazz no. on Shady's poster for details. Just an hour will help greatly. Thanks. No Jazz, please don't drug her or anything! That will make it all worse. All we need is patience. We have to stop trying to catch her, as has been happening today, we need to sit and have patience. A better trap would be excellent and I will help monitor. She's running back and forth thru her buttercup field! Popped home to eat as Leodog now arrived. Going back in a mo. xLast edited: 2011-04-24 15:25:23 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Glad trap is set up and ready to catch little Shady! Would advise against using drugs....if thats your plan ;)...because if after she's eaten the laced food, she gets startled and runs, quite likely if she is nervous, and even if she was not, quite likely in the case of a dog 'on the run'.....you may well not be able to keep up with her and follow her. Obviously then the effects of the drugs could kick in and no-one would be around and no telling where Shady may be at that point, and the people having chased her trying to keep up with her may make her think twice about coming back to her base. Stick with the trap, she'll go in. If she doesn't go in this one soonish we can help find one that is not manually operated (but that would still need regular monitoring)....I believe we have one that's in Kent atm....you'll get her. Thank you re the trap. I am so tired and fuzzy in the head this morning. As a note, we found out last night that you can't get to the back of the house from the front of the house. It is the back of the house that I saw her for two solid hours and one of your flapjacks I put on the fence had gone and it was too early for foxes.
Jazz
thank you for going back xxx
a lady is picking up the trap this morning. If it wont go in her car ill go.

Netty and I have just got back (again). Netty came round and took me back and we did a stake out with smelly fish, but no luck. Think she is asleep, after all she had a lot of exercise this afternoon. Now we know she's so young, we hope she has made this her home and stays put. Netty & I left food and hope she gets it before the foxes. But at least we're feeding someone. I don't know what time I'll wake up now as its so late, so if anyone else can get the trap that would be good, if not I will do so, just a bit late.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Just got in, no luck, but I think she would have bedded down for the night. I was lying in the field with my sardines, but it just got too dark and scary on my own. Fell in the stream so I stink. Saw a man from earlier watching the side of the house for a bit. If no one has got the trap when I wake up and after I take Misty out, I will go and get it. If anyone gets it first, pls leave a note on here. Thank you. I'll see if Netty can help me. Yes, Jotty we got a poster put in house - at least I think we did - I gave it to the lady from the Rescue to do. Did she do it Jazz? The house is very big and is surrounded by fields, a stream, mesh fencing and barbed wire to the fields. The garden is virtually in the field on one side. The banks of the stream make human access awkward, but we did it. Easiest way is the drive of the house, but not sure if they will help us or if they are even there? We could just go in tomorrow again and find out and take it from there. We have to get her regardless. Just hope she stays around there. Sleep tight little one, you'll be home and safe very soon. xLast edited: 2011-04-23 22:34:56 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Just home, but glad you have located a trap now. If I was around or a little nearer I'd have gone and got the trap for you tonight but sorry no can do tonight. Hopefully the man and kim plus smelly sardines will be too difficult to refuse! I am sure this has already been done but has a note plus poster been put through the house who's garden she is going in, just incase the house owners come back late this evening. Wouldn't want them scaring her off, although hopefully they woudln't anyway,. Good luck all of you out there. x

Jazz, if you need help getting the trap, just ask on here. My Mum has given me a tin of sardines so I am going over there to sit with man, if he is still there (or alone) and do what Jennie said. I will not risk scaring her off, so please don't worry. If I'm still there tomorrow, wake me up! :-)

Well i suppose if food is left she isnt gonna go anywhere so tomorrow will still be great.
Jazz
im picking the trap up tomorrow morning
lf2000
You never know, this ;nice man sat' might well get her before tonight... I am miles away too so cant assist :P
Jennie
Dogs are inherantly curious, has somebody tried just sitting on the floor with smelly food and wimpering. Dont look at her, and you may find she will come over. I can help through the night if needed.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Jazz, I left because I thought the Rescue Charity lady had taken over proceedings. But if you still need me, I will help. You have my text and can leave messages here. If we can get the trap tonight, I will sit thru part of the night if you need me to. Just tell me when. Can you bring the smelly sardines and garlic chicken? Also, I'm not a trap expert and I'm scared in case we got it wrong. Don't want to scare her off.
Leodog
I'm free all day tomorrow. Just tell me if you want me to do anything. Lyn.

Have just called Jazz for a chat. I'll ask the co-ords if they know of a trap in the area, and Jazz is contacting a cat rescue person she knows as this little girl could be caught in a large cat trap. Garlic chicken and sardines are the best bait we have found.

Forgot to say, I have left a trail of food around there to try and keep her there. And we need smelly food in th trap I woul dguess to entice her in. We mustn't make a mistake, we have to get the trap right. It is very close to a busy road but she seems to be staying by the fields, streams and bushes below - a lovely area for her. I think we're all sunburt, thirsty with soggy wet trainers from stream walking, we got caught in barbed wire but we don't care - we have seen her!!!I am so happy after being so worried yesterday. Now we have to catch her.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
What an afternoon! We haven't got her yet but now we know where she is we're still trying. We need a trap. Can anyone help??? Herts & Essex Pet search have turned up too. We need a trap for tonight. For the 3 hours I've been there she has gone back and forth from the field with dandilions in, to the house and garden and the stream. She came right over and then changed her mind and shot back. I was SO GLAD when I spotted her on the field at the museum! I had to do a double take! So excited I could hardly text foster mum! So many people were watching from afar wishing for her to be caught. We were wary of frightening her off, so I think a trap is best option.Foster mum is still there with the rescue lady and HEPS. I have come back to ask for help with a trap. HEPS will do that if we get a trap. PLEASE!!!! She actually looks fine, but then they always do don't they. could the people whose garden it is quietly put food and water out for her so as to tempt her to stay in the garden., but not to make any fuss.
tangoandcash
she has been spotted in someones garden next to the museum and thats where she has been for as few hours now but to risky to approach as she is very scared and is bolting when someone gets near if any one has any dog traps or know someone who has got one please let us know as she is sticking to this area so traps will help catch her

shes at the museyum now! everyone quick!

Fantastic to hear there has been another sighting....sure there will be several more now as you are doing so well with all the posters and spreading the word. Smelly sardines are always a favourite for tempting dogs too....and they'll be particularly smelly in this weather as well (the sardines that is, not the dogs!).
Leodog
Just been out there with a neighbour for about an hour. Didn't see her, but did meet Kimmybear, who was just starting to look, as we left. But as I said to them, Shady could be lying in the thick undergrowth just feet from where we were and we wouldn't know. Come out of hiding, Shady, so we can see you.
Shereen
Stay Safe Shady until these lovely people can catch you.
Jazz you should stay logged in ifyou refresh every 5-10 mins or so ,as long as you are active ,you should stay logged in.

Good Luck!
Jazz
fresh people are just going out looking. ive just given one fresh doggy choc flapjacks to try and tempt her. shes 8 months old, only a baby.im disabled so cant keep walking, so have come home to keep the internet updated. is there a way to keep logged in?

I have no idea what to do about a trap - can someone help me? I'm going now with Misty - if anyone sees me pls approach - my collie is tri colour and fluffy. Kim

She looks just like my bitch - how old is she ?? I hope she isn't one of Pippins pups.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help - willingly come down and see if Pip can find her ?
Littlelab
Is it worth setting up traps there tonight if we know she is circling back?
Littlelab
Just got in from walking my dogs, took the call from her Foster mum to say she had been spotted, WOW, come on Shady let us catch you, thanks to those who are dropping everything to go over there now.

RE VETS i sure i was told it was a vets in Colchester but do not know which one.

Re TRIANGLE
It is a proven fact that a missing dog seems to stay within a triangle ften moving around this set area . The point a dog is lost at is point one- then you need a sighting that is point 2 even if you have two points you can guess where the next sighting might be and you can see the streets/countryside to second guess where she'll be holed up. If you can scent the triangle or one corner of it, usually where last seen, you can pretty much keep them local until you can find them in person as it were. hope that makes sense.

Littlelab
NO the papers weren't contacted, but this can be done, however being a bank holiday they are not going to be contactable until Tuesday. I am praying someone has picked her up and is keeping her until the vets open after the BH or even today!!
Jazz
Im afraid she was put into my car, I only put my hands on her to get her out of the car. I was told shes friendly. she can bark at dogs when she first meets, but then is fine. she has to have been taken in by someone to have not been seen. there are so many posters up, thank you, that someone would have let us know otherwise. she hasnt eaten for 5 days so im sure she would have gone to someone, a fisherman, dog walker by now
lf2000
Could you explain the triangle thing for me please. I understand triangle! but is this something that dogs do as a norm or something? Just interested.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yes, Netty tried radio - no luck - see below. I don't know if foster mum did call The Star? I just phoned Harlow council emergency line & they said no reports of any dog phoned thru 446666 today for the dog warden. But he is off till Tuesday, although if anything had happened I would hope they'd call regardless. Thank you Owl for your info - that is good as it narrows it down. We still need to search the local area she was lost in. Maybe her triangle will be Abercrombie, Moorhen and ? Or, something's happned that we don't know about yet. Just hope she's safe.
lf2000
Has anyone tried ringing other vets around the area - say 3 mile radius - to see if she has been taken in.... Or the PDSA if you have one around there... ?
Local radio station... Newspaper? Seeing as she has stitches and it is a big concern to get her back quick they may help.
DogLostOwl
It is rare for a scared dog just to keep running. It will run so far, maybe keep scurrying on for a day or two, and then stop and rest and try to find a safe place. A small dog under a hedge isn't easy to spot. By all means cast the net wide, but remember she may still be somewhere in the areas you have been searching. DWs don't usually work over a Bank Holiday but there may be an emergency person on call, depends on the council.
Littlelab
The vets have been notified that she is missing, but you are talking miles and miles from Harlow to Colchester. I am worried that there have been NO sightings, although looking positively maybe she has been taken in. She is very nervous and therefore she is unlikely to approach humans or be approached. As it's the BH weekend do DW's work over the Bank holiday???
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Could someone notify Nazeing and Hoddesdon and Epping Dog Wardens in case she's gone that way instead of Moorhen? Thank you.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Okay, I'm getting worried now. Why has no one seen her? I'm worried she's gone so far out of town and we haven't let anyone know because we don't know who to tell as we don't know where she is. Or maybe someone does have her. Foster mum/s do you know if she would be friendly to approach, normally? Or do you think she would just leg it, if someone tried to talk to her? Did you get to know her well enough to answer that? Think we need to poster Northbrooks. I am so upset that've I've run out of posters - till tomorrow. Sorry for going on, but I am really sad.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Been down to Abercrombie Way, have postered along the cycle track and fields to the left side by the old Museum. Run out of posters! I think we really need to get some more down there and across to Katherines, Hollyfield and Ada Cole thru the cycle tracks where dogs walk. I need to get some more done. I have one left so will go to Staples tomorrow and photocopy some. If Shady is, or returns to, this area - it is a brilliant place for a dog. Lovely shallow, clear streams to drink and paddle in, lots of shady places to hide and bed down. Food maybe accessible if the kids keep leaving the remains of their picnics around. I worry about her wound and possible infection though. Yes, I hope someone had found her and is helping her. If she goes to a Vet the microchip will show, maybe they are trying to avoid it. Just hope she's okay. We need a sighting. I'm not sure what Vet she was spayed in??Last edited: 2011-04-22 18:19:24 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
lf2000
One more silly thing to add.... Has anybody gone back to the vets to see if she returned? I dont know much but if her scent is leading out from the vets do you think they will try to find their own scent again and then hang out there - being as its the last place she was? I dont have a clue on lost dogs and their ways sorry.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Jotty would know more, but based on two recent dogs on this site who were also lost miles from home, they did stay in the area - a big circle thingy, but nevertheless in the area. But, I am not an expert. I'm going back out now to poster Abercrombie side of town - and surrounding areas. If we get a sighting, we can do the food trap stuff. Or all night vigils even! We just need a sighting and for that we need publicity.
tangoandcash
i think some traps etc should be set up some where she is bound to be extremely thirsty and hungry
Littlelab
The challenge is that she is a Colchester dog, so she will have no idea where she is heading other than just running away, where does a dog go to when they don't know area?? She may head for water or shade in this weather and of course a source of food.
Leodog
Thanks for clearing that up. I will keep a lookout in the Great Parndon area when I'm out and about with Leo and other things. I hope she is found soon, alternatively, I hope someone nice has taken her in.
tangoandcash
just heard back from jazz and this little girl came from colchester so she doesn't know this area at all so she could be heading anywhere.
tangoandcash
Im still looking out in abercrombie way every day as i walk peoples dogs that way but im not sure if shady would know this area as not sure where she came from originally ill contact jazz to find out and 1f2000 certainly a good idea she may well be trying to go back to her previous home ill call jazz now to find out her area
lf2000
Hello, just poking my nose in here... Has anyone contacted the previous owners just in case she goes back there... She was taken to the vets to be pts wasnt she so they shoud have the info - if the people gave the right info that is :)

DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Hi, I know it must sound confusing but she was spotted running at the river (Moorhen) - almost at A414. But, I think we still need to look at Abercrombie side, so yes, anything will help! We need more posters too. We're doing as many as we can, but need more, if anyone can help. If this little mite is trying to get back home, she could possibly run miles out of Harlow and keep going in any direction I suppose. But, if she keeps to the area, she could well come back to Abercrombie. I just don't know? Anyone???? If I remember rightly, two dogs in similar situations (Violet and Eva) were both lost miles from home and stayed within a radius of where they were lost, so I am hoping so much that Shady does too. We need to look everywhere and poster everywhere. We could also poster Kingsland, Woodcroft, Northbrooks, Milwards, Ada Cole, edge of Nazeing, Roydon, Epping Green roads out of town, in case she went that way. It would be good to have people still looking Abercrombie side.
tangoandcash
Leodog there was a possibly sighting of shady running towards the moorhen so thats why we are widening our searches :)
Leodog
Thanks Jazz. I live a five minute walk from Abercrombie Way. Why is everybody looking the other side of town for her?
Jazz
abercrombie way is the road between staple tye and the traffic lights going to asda. thats where she disappeared from
Leodog
I am sorry, I'm confused. There is no Abercrombie Road in Harlow that I know of. Everyone seems to be looking in the wrong place. The post code is CM18, that is Abercrombie Way and it's near Staple Tye. Nowhere near the A414 or Gilston/High Wych. Could someone verify, please, where this poor little mite was lost?
Buds Mum
We've been out along the river to Harlow Mill across the road then along by gibberd garden back up through Old Harlow, no sign of her. We were telling people we met about Shady, some had heard about her. fingers crossed for a sighting today. My printer is not working so could not do posters, did see 1 poster as going to the river near the council yard.
kris
did a walk up the canal and across the fields that run parallel to the A414 at 8am. left leaflets with the canal project as they are going to have boats out all weekend. I wonder if she could have gone in straight line - and gone to high wych/gilston? may be worth postering around there. sorry couldnt do more kris

I am blown away! Thank you to the person whoever you are that has offered to donate a reward, it's incredible and very generous, thank you again to every person out there looking for her, she deserves every chance we can give her xx
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Me again! Foster mum, I didn't mean for you to find the reward, I meant we could all chip in to come up with something - she is worth it. But, I can see that some lovely person has offered the reward. How great is that?! Thank you everyone - we have a good team out there! Let's bring her home! I have postered in a circuit from Pets at Home, Old Harlow station, along Redricks Lane (door dropping where letter boxes available), along thru Gilston, past the Dusty Miller etc left posters on cars and dropped some into the boat people's boats & Harlow Town station. Will do further out tomorrow - Hunsdon Lock & Roydon as river goes on that way from the Moorhen. Will also try and do other way along river from Harlow Mill towards Sawbridgeworth. I am so hoping that we now get a sighting - that is what we need most to be able to get her. If she is searching for her old home, goodness knows knows how far she will go. Also postered 3 access sites to river from Templesfields & the town park from Greybound to Edinburgh Way, to Altham Grove entrance. When we find her, can someone help me take them down?! :-) Thanks. Come on litle one - you have a lovely new home and you are so loved. xLast edited: 2011-04-21 22:32:25 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Just spoken to someone at Mutts in Distriss so they are now aware also and my contact there is actually in the Abercrombie Road area so will keep her eyes peeled. You Harlow helpers are just fab!

A reward would be great but as rescue money is tight and Little Dog Rescue just paid for spaying there is no money left in the pot so to speak :0(

Think we need a Reward on the poster. I have given out a lot of posters and have printed off 50 more - still going! Jotty or DogLost team could you put a reward on? Would that be okay foster mum? I don't know what we could give, but we can find something if need be and if it helps us get her home to you. As she has no family, she needs all the help she can get.

Good ideas... Im dont live by where she has been lost but read about Shady and now hoping that she is found soon!!!

unsure of this area so this may not be of any use but have any local taxi firms been asked to keep a look out ( in my areas have spread the word among cab drivers and always been very helpful) also is it on bus route can they alert drivers??
Its scholl holiday time- are there any play activities being held - ask them to give out details so all the kids can also be looking out and report any sightings. Local libraries takeaway shops if any in this area are all good places where people go and spend time in a q so would read posters in there !!
lf2000
Any news???
tracy
left posters at dusty miller and plume of feathers, if i get time tonight we will go for a walk along the river
Netty-B
phoned heart radio but they would not let us put out a mesg, they have taken all the details incase someone phones in reporting a sighting. I have walk all around the allotments and passmores hse, along the cycle paths were he went missing incase he doubles back. My sister and i then drove around morehen up to the dusty miller pub and through gilston, high wych, and then back to Harlow, no sign of her.Unable to help tonight as going out for meal, but will be out again looking on Friday. Have spoke to both Harlow Town and Mill Station and looked on the 'incident log' and no reports of any dogs in the last two days. Phew.

So it WAS her! Okay, I am going to the river straight after work tonight and I am armed with posters - some laminated. I will try and cover as large an area as possible - both at river and surrounding areas. I will also do some in the park so that dog walkers can be on the look out generally. I have given my work colleague two laminated posters that she is going to display in the allotments at Abercrombie Way - just in case. Poor little love. I hope her tummy is okay as all that running - oh, I dread to think os the stitches pulling. Maybe its still numb? Mind you, they go thru the pain don't they? She must be starving too. Maybe she'll go to the Moorhen pub - I'll drop a poster there - or if anyone can get out before me today, as time is of the essence. I will try and leave some food maybe? What side of the river was she on?? Moorhen or train line. (Keep away from the trains, sweetie). Will inform Netty as well. Please pray for her! Kim x

I am postering Pishiobury Park today. My daugher saw her yesterday, and she was making her way towards the Outdoor pursuit centre. Running down from the Town Roundabout. She would have followed the river and could be towards Old Harlow Mill now. I think someone should poster towards Sheering and Sheering Lower Road. I don't think she will go back towards Abercrombe. I have already postered there, and along Three horseshoes road and Hare Street. Kew and Toddbrook have posters too.

Definitely worth contacting the radio and Star. Kim, can you pass the radio number on to Netty please, its Studio 01245 525 252 or Station 01245 524 500. I will spread the word, post on FB etc too, will also drop helper Capote an email as I think she knows a cabbie who can get some posters in the cabs.

Come on Shady. x

Okay, it's gone midnight and Netty & I have just got back - we drove to the Moorhen and put a makeshift poster up till I get some printed. It is almost two miles by road from Abercrombie lights to the Moorhen! Walked a bit at Moorhen (river). We drove around a bit, went to Abercrombie and to MacDonalds in Staple Tye in case she sniffed out the food. Hope she's safe and sound snuggled up for the night. Will poster as soon as poss tomorrow. Netty said we should call the local Radio station and explain the situation and they may put a bulletin out for her due to the circumstances? Think it's Heart radio - Netty said she will phone if someone has the number? Okay, need to sleep. Oh my goodness! Poor little thing! I have only just seen this as I work in the day and home late. I know excatly where she was lost and I know the Moorhen and river. The Moorhen is quite a way away but it is straight down the main road maybe a mile, so it is feasible. I will check there early tomorrow. The other thing is, if she has got to the Moorhen, and I hate to say this, but you need to check with the station (Jennie can you check your end?). I hope she is not at the Moorhen as there are a lot of dangers one way or another, but there are also a lot of boat people who love dogs and can keep an eye out. I will take posters down there tomorrow after I've printed them off for the boat people. Also, if I can get out of work I will poster Abercrombie, the allotments - I work with someone who has an allotment right there. If she got on the cycle track she could have followed it anywhere across the town. I don't know where foster mum has postered, but I'll take a stack of them with me and do what I can anywhere in the town. We have been round the park which is in between the Moorhen and Ambercrombie, and I would have thought if she was going to the Moorhen she would have gone through the park, or at the side of it. No one has mentioned her. Bless her. I've told Netty to check as she doesn't have access to her computer these days - on the blink. Jotty, would a lost rescue dog still do a triangle? If so, hopefully she may return to Abercrombie. I'll poster Gilston if I can - although as I am at work tomorrow I don't know if I can get there till late. Can anyone else help poster? Poor little mite - her stitches could come undone and she could get an infection - we have to find her!!!! She will be traumatised after what she's been through too. Foster mum try to contact the Star - they tend to refuse lost dog stories generally, but as she's a rescue and just been speyed etc they may well try to help. Do contact them and try - they could put it on the internet version if too late for the paper. Pray she's safe. x

NOTE FROM FOSTER MUM - just got a call, a dog fitting her discription was seen near the moorhen about 3pm today. she was still running, so might be gilston way now? ill put posters in eastwick farm tomorrow and have a look round. its too dark now and I dont know that area.

Shady had been fostered direct from vets in colchester. She fought with her litter brother and owners bought her in to be PTS. Vets contacted rescue and she was put to a foster. She has been spayed that day plus has facial stitches where the two dogs had fought.
Vets put collar and lead on dog and foster lady took her home when getting out of car she backed off and collar came off- she then bolted across the road infront of traffic which stooped but she then went into the allotement areas which also has a lot of undergroth.
Vets police and dog wardens in areas are aware- have suggested also allerting the next councils that are close in case she runns accross the boundaries and is in a different counil.

if get any sighting it may be possible to scent areas using water from part of her her own soaked blanket as this will be a smell she will recognise. area is not suitable for a trap unless she heads towards private gardens etc where it might be possible if someone is around to monitor.
