So glad to hear Jessica is doing well. I have advised the good news to the dog walking companies I originally emailed.
gpashley
Wonderful news! I'll take down the posters left in Eastville Park
ML
Also, I did e mail Holly hedge last night to let them know and also contacted the vets that I e mailed posters too to let them know the good news!
ML
Hi Jan, I went out this afternoon and removed the posters that I put up the other day and noticed that a couple had gone so you must have got there just before me! Love the reunited pici and I'm so pleased that Jessica is safe and well. xxx
Mollychops
Alovely reunited photo thanks! so glad Jessie is getting back to normal
Jan
Just a note to the helper who put up the black and white posters at the top of Bishop Road near the roundabout and in Egerton Road - please note we took those ones down this afternoon. My partner has been taking down most of the ones he put up in St Andrews, Montpelier, St Pauls, Stokes Croft and I have done Bishopston and Redland, but we have probably missed some so if anyone sees any if they can take them down that would be great. Tomorrow I will contact Dogs Home, Holly Hedge and local shops with posters + vets. Jessie is fine - sore feet and very tired but enjoying her meals and lying in the sun!Last edited: 2010-08-30 18:16:13 by Jan

I'd like to thank everyone who has helped us in our search for Jessica this week. I'm pleased to say she has been passed remarkably unscathed by the vets, other than being footsore and underweight so hopefully it will not be too long before she will start to benefit from being fed regularly. We are delighted to have her back unharmed, and thank you very much to you all! Donation to follow, + a photo update

Mollychops
Im very please to say this lovely girl is safely home. A walker picked her up and handed her into the dog warden. She doesnt appear to have lost any weight, but she has very sore paws, and is booked into the vets this afternoon, just to be on the safe side. Welcome home Jessica. Huge thanks for helping as always Dinkydoodle and Doglover and ML. Owners would appreciate help taking down posters please. Im awaiting a reunited picture which I will put on later.
doglover1
Hi Jan, I was thinking the same as Dinkydoodle in that this sighted dog could still be Jessica if owner of other dog is not aware his dog was out ?? Your doing a fantastic job and all the postering will only help, I'm around most of next week if you get any sightings or need any help looking or postering but I really hope Jessica is back home by then, Come on Jessica please show yourself lovely girl.
dinkydoodle
What a shame the sighting yesterday may not have been of Jessica - if the owner's of the male lurcher were unaware their dog was out it may well still have been her? I hope you get some more calls soon and something comes out of the Stokes Croft visit. I won't be able to get out tomorrow but will be around all of BH Monday if you need any help. Come on Jessica, where are you?
Mollychops
suggested to owners she is put in all local papers.
Mollychops
Jan Im sorry this ended up being another dog,You are trying so hard to find her , and doing such a great job. You have the wonderful Team Bristol helping ..Dinkydoodle and Doglover ML and you son too so im sure It wont be long before another sighting. i will call you later Last edited: 2010-08-28 18:27:15 by Mollychops
Jan
Sorry it seems a shame to come out with more negative news but it looks like the sighting of Jessica was in fact a lurcher (male with no white chest but otherwise very similar, perhaps a bit taller) that lives a couple of houses away from St Bons. My partner called on the house earlier and said he was remarkably like Jess. The only puzzle is how he had got out on his own as the owner did not seem to be aware of it. Unless we get another sighting though it seems likely it was this one. Meanwhile my partner has gone off on his bike to investigate a couple of reports in the Stokes Croft area - will let you know what happens!
DogLostReynard
Good luck! Yes Dinkydoodle is right scenting should be done and if she is staying in the area perhaps a trap could be put up?
dinkydoodle
thanks for the midnight text majorjet to tell me there had been a sighting of Jessica, such great news, let's hope we see more of her. Owner Jan, you and your family are doing an amazing job but if you need any assistance today I am available, mollychops and majorjet have my mob no if you wish to call me - I am about 20 mins from you. Is now the right time to scent the area from the church where she was seen? good luck.
Goldenfrodo
Fingers tightly crossed the lovely Jessica is home soon. Good luck x
ML
Brilliant news. At least it sounds like she is staying close by! I'm really sorry but I was unable to get out and poster yesterday as both my baby and toddler have gone down with this sickness bug but will do my best over the next couple of days. Hope today brings some good news xxx
Mollychops
fingers crossed this is her and she will be safe soon, you are doing an amazing job Jan x I wish I was nearer to help. Good luck today!

Jan, fingers crossed the sighting is Jessica and you find her soon. Good luck. Jan x ..... BUMPED ......

We got a phone call about 7.30 this eve from staff at a club attached to St Bons Church a street or two away from us who were 90 per cent sure they had seen Jess outside there shortly before. We went to the area straight away and again later on but no sign - will look again tomorrow.
Jan
My partner has been putting up posters and spreading the word in the Downs and Stokes Croft areas today - got a couple of comments from people in the latter which made him think it would be good to check again tomorrow.
Jan
Another awful weather day today - we put up a few more posters. Got a phone call from a lady in Horfield this afternoon to say she thought she had seen Jess in her back garden but when more closely questioned she said she thought it was a grey dog with short hair and no tail and she later phoned to say she and her husband didn't think it was our dog after all. Again it was because she'd seen a poster close to her home so you are dependent on people observing closely and reporting accurately. I think her judgement was influenced because she had seen the poster and wanted it to be the dog! No other reports - Bristol Dogs Home say they like people to phone in regularly but no news today. With a fairly undomesticated lurcher that could be living wild it is hard to imagine how she will be spotted. Although she is microchipped we intended to have her tagged as well as soon as we got her but this was delayed because we were trying to decide what to call her. This is a reminder that even when fostering you should always get these things done straight away or before you go and collect her - you can always change the name later! well done everyone . Huge Team efort going on here, lets hope this lovely girl is home soon
ML
I will get my husband to spread the word at Filton Police station so that they can keep an eye out for her too. I will do my very best to get out again on Fri to do some more postering. well done Jan, you are doing an excellent job of speading the word and hopefully soon it will pay off. x
dinkydoodle
good news that Network Rail have called you, they are obviously keeping a look out which is very kind of them; although the police do not help with lost dogs, if you go into police stations and speak very nicely, they may put a poster on their notice board for you and if you see any PCSOs in the area, hand them a pocket sized flyer and they will keep an eye out. Perhaps worth doing flyers now (we can get this organised for you, NW co-ord Majorjet is very handy on the pc!) and handing out to people on their rounds ie window cleaners, paper boys/girls, taxi drivers etc. Jessica will have found somewhere nice and dry to hide in this nasty weather, come on young lady, give us a clue.x.
Jan
Took a poster into our local vet's which does not have internet, also into RSPCA local office on Glos Road. Met our postman who said he is keeping a lookout and telling colleagues about our posters. Network Rail phoned me back to say there have been no reports of incidents or sightings on the line. Dog's Home - no reports - they have the poster. Avon & Somerset Police said that other forces may deal with dogs but they don't, just tell people to contact the Dog Wardens or the emergency RSPCA. Just waiting now in the hope that Jessie will be sighted by someone...

Hi - I'm Jan's son and felt compelled to sign up after seeing all the support that my parents have been recieving - thank you all. I am happy to print full colour posters for anyone who may need some and is able to help with postering. Please contact me on dave_tibbs@hotmail.com if you are able to put posters up and would like some printed. I am hoping to head to Henleaze tomorrow to do some postering. I have also posted an ad on Gumtree.Last edited: 2010-08-25 00:51:52 by DaveT

Posters up in Blaise and at Severn Beach railway station. I am so pleased that you have started getting some calls. The more people that know about her the more chance of getting some sightings. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. x
Jan
We had a trip to Chandos Road, Redland, this eve - a boy rang us to say he had seen Jess there shortly before seeing her poster in Kensington Road and then connecting it was the same dog. We met the boy there and he then seemed in doubt about whether the dog he had seen was grey colour or not. To cut a long story short we eventually found the dog he had seen and it was much fairer coloured and living happily in a nearby house, though it was a lurcher. It just goes to show how effective your poster campaigns can be, even if on this occasion it was the wrong dog! We'll keep trying - we were particularly encouraged by this 'sighting' as we had been out looking on the railway which runs just behind this area and it was on Chandos Road which is full of takeaways and restaurants to appeal to a hungry dog.Last edited: 2010-08-24 22:36:51 by Jan

Great work here from everyone, keep the posters coming, this really helps get the word out that Jessica is missing. Can you get an ad out on trade-it, gumtree and the Evening Post? I've emailed Jessica's poster to a couple of dog walkers in the area.
Jan
This afternoon my partner and I went on the Severn Beach Railway in opposite directions as it's possible she may be hiding out along there somewhere - also put up posters at the ends (Stapleton and Shirehampton), and Montpelier.
ML
I have managed to poster Westbury park, the top of Horfield and spoken to a couple of dog walkers. Unfortunately my printer ran out of colour so the posters are in black and white. I will also take some more to Blaise later. xxx
doglover1
I have posted Jessica missing poster details on my Facebook page and shared to all friends etc, come on Jessica show yourself so many peolpe want you home safe. x
Jan
Thanks to everyone - I have emailed poster and details to Bristol and South Glos Dog Wardens and phoned Bath and North Somerset Dog Wardens (NSom told me they access Bristol's log if they find a dog). Have also phoned Bristol Dogs Home and Holly Hedge today.Last edited: 2010-08-24 12:55:42 by Jan

gpashley, that would be great if you could. The more people that know about her the better.
gpashley
Would it help if I put some posters up in Eastville Park?
BrisDawg_Paul
Did some postering in the Redland/Bishopston area yesterday, will do some in the Redland/Kingsdown area today. Tomorrow I could do Montpelier and St. Pauls.
ML
I have just e mailed poster out to local vets that I could find e mail addresses for. Also e mailed out to Holly hedge. Jan, It would be worth contacting the South Gloucestershire dog warden too as Jessica could quite easily cross the border. Hopefully today will bring some news. xxx
dinkydoodle
I've emailed further advice and scenting instructions (sorry if you've already done this mollychops) to ML who is passing info onto fosterer. I am a bit tied up at work this week but will do my best to put some posters up. Come on Jessica, show yourself sweetie.
ML
I will also try and get out to Westbury and surrouding areas during the day tomorrow and take posters to Blaise tomorrow evening. I will post on here the areas that I have covered. I will also aim to e mail poster out to as many vets as I can. Jan, I think the key is to spread the word as best you can - maybe try contacting some of the local radio stations such as heart and BBC Bristol to see if they will put the word out. Fingers crossed she is back with you soon. xxx
Jan
Thanks dinkydoodle for your earlier postings - it would be really helpful if anyone away from the immediate area could put up posters where they live in Kingsdown, Centre of Bristol, Clifton, Cliftonwood, Westbury Park, Downs area, Henleaze, Muller Road, St Pauls, etc. Marie Louise has said she can put some up in Blaise Castle tomorrow. We're not sure how far she has gone. Thanks
Bath Cats & Dogs Home
Twittered and Facebooked with our followers - Bath and Bristol areas. I'll keep an eye out on my Eastville Park walks
Jan
We haven't had any sightings reported of Jessie today - we have put posters up for all local streets, parks, Severn Beach railway (Redland and Montpelier Stations)i.e. BS7 and BS6. We are her fosterers who had only had her for 2 days - she is very timid and we think she is likely to be hiding away from people somewhere. We would appreciate any help with postering further afield if you are able to contact us -thankyou.
Mollychops
No news this morning, owers are working very hard to get her back
Mollychops
Thanks Dinkydoodle, I dont know the area I afraid, but im sure posters near where Jessica is missing from will be greatly appreciated
dinkydoodle
Please let us know if any specific place needs postering, I can put some up on Tuesday afternoon, ML has said she can hopefully get some up midweek but of course, we hope this lovely lady will be back home by then.

owner, what part of Bristol is Jessica missing from - we have several local helpers available to help poster, search or give advice, please let us know, thanks.
DogLostLostdogs ScotlandSable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
Sorry to see Jessica is missing. Someone will try and make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog & give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
