All a bit of a concern that dear Belle was held for so long even though there was clear identification on her(CHIP & TATTOO) ! This needs to be looked into. I have spoken to Belle's owner & Belle is now at home & sleeping. She will be checked by their vet soon but does appear to be OK.Welcome home sweet girl. X

Message from Belle's owner -------Thank you for your advice. Belle has just been returned to her owner. It turns that out Belle had already been collected by the Westminster dog warden's agent on Saturday night/Sunday morning but, despite her microchip, it took over 24 hours to identify her and 48 hours to reunite her with her owner. Both the Mayhew and Battersea dogs' homes were very helpful and tried hard to elicit information; the dog warden's agent was not. The best advice is not to lose your dog outside of office hours and to make sure it does not get found in another borough!

I have just spoken to Belle's owner. A greyhound was picked up by the covering DW service at the weekend & it is now a matter of double checking this is Belle & then returning her back home. Fingers crossed this will happen this afternoon.

Poor Belle, please keep going back to the place that this happened as she is likely to return there to look for you. Posters need to go to all the vets in the area. Hopefully her tattoos and chip will help get her home soon.

Sorry to see Belle is missing. Someone will try to make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days if it has no identification (microchip or ID disk attached), so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog, give them a poster and keep in touch with them every few days.. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
