This is wonderful news after 4 long years and I think you have made a very sensible decision to have Neo adopted. Welcome back Neo, be happy in your new forever home xx
Chuck
This brings me hope, my dog Stitch is still missing after 7 and a half weeks, I miss him terribly, and do not know where he has disappeared to, he too is micro chipped so I hope he will returned someday soon.
Meeka
It's the wondering what has happened to them that gets to you - the not knowing - but so fantastic that after four years you know where he is. Totally understand your decision, and what a hard one to take - I hope he finds a nice new home soon. Gives hope to others and just goes to show that where there's a chip there's hope.
B30
What a difficult decision for you to make but four years is a long time and I completely understand your reasons. At least you won't forever wonder what ever happened to him.

I hope he finds a new home very soon.
PaulaK
I can completely understand yur decicision - at least now you finally have an end to the story and arent left always wondering where he is xx

Oh wow, after all this time. I remember Neo's little face from way back. That must have been a shock of a phone call, and although a difficult decision one I'm sure a lot will understand. Thanks for the update!
jobadger
I'm sure everyone will understand what has been a very difficult decision for you to make. I'm glad you know what became of him and in rescue, they'll make sure he's safe and settled. Good luck to all of you in the future. Live a long and happy life Neo. xx
Deb4gsd
such a heartbreaking situation to have to let him go after being found after such a long time missing! did he show any signs of recognition when you visited him, or was there no reaction other than 'someone' visiting him! at least you know he is alive and well and will have a lovely new home eventually!
Lisa123
I think you will find alot of people will totally understand your decision. At least you know he is alive and safe x

bubbleblonde20, thanks for posting an update, realise it must of been so hard to do and to make the decision to let him go to another family. But what you have explained is very understandable.

Wish Neo lots of luck and happiness in the coming future. Jan x
bubbleblonde20
i hope this gives hope for all dog owners who dogs have been missing for years that one day they will be found xxx
bubbleblonde20
hiya people yes we are absolutly astounded that neo was found i had a call saturday morning saying he had been found he had been in a stray home for a week and had escaped from there and had been found by a rescue centre and they scanned him and called us i am very very very heart broken to say we could not have neo back we saw him friday and he was lovely and we thought about it all weekend and after 4 years as mush as we wanted to have him home we had a lot to factor in we have a male staff and we have a 18 month old toddler we dont know how neo has been treated or what his moods are like and we had to think of the kids in case it didnt work out and we had to rehome him so the best choice was to let another lovely family adopt him i love neo i always have i always will and its broke my heart to let him go he is a gorgeous dog and he looks like he has been well looked after i suppose one thing is we know he is safe and happy after 4 long years of not knowing were he was if it was a few months after i would have had him back like a shot but 4 years is a long time and he has changed so i am sure we have made the right decision xxx

B30
OMG, I remember this little chap very well. How fantastic that he's turned up after all this time.
PaulaK
Fantastic that he has been found - I hope the family is in the position to take him back as Im sure a lot has changed after 4 years and Im sure its not as easy as if a dog had been missing for a few days, weeks or months even. It gives hope to those with long term missing dogs though which is fab x
lf2000

Such a sad sad story, I’ve just taken time out to read it all.   Good thought about notifying the chip company in case anyone tries to re-register him, there’s no mention of this in his pages.   I’ve been having a real rant lately about police non co-operation, seems like nothing is changing - no surprises there then.   I do hope that Neo is safe and happy, wherever he is, and you never know, miracles do happen.

I haven't got time to read all 6 pages but wanted to ask if you informed the microchip people that Neo was missing just in case anyone tries to re-register him in their own name. Never give up hope he's out there somewhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Statistics in relation to stolen dogs varies a great deal, so dont believe all that you read. Some companies are known to inflate figures to scaremonger a dog owner into buying their product or service. Claims of almost 300,000 pets are stolen each year has been reported yet there is little evidence to prove it. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi again, also try to build up a line of comunication with the local dog warden, during our hunt for Zack we called him out to a few sightings of dogs that where not Zack, we handed 2 into the local police station then contacted him. we just thought ok we might not get him back but at least someone else will get their dog back. its sad that people think they can just take Staffy's but on a positive these type of dogs are so memorable everyone has a strong personallity people see this and are more likely to come forward with info about them. keep up the effortXXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i will try that as i have not heard nothing from police so will have to try something else i read online aswell 56% of stolen dogs are staffys so im hoping if some one has brought neo they are honest enough to take him to vets xxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hello, I know this might be a long shot but try to get the local radio stations to put messages out. We got the local radio news room involved and stories went out all week about the number of missing staff's from telford, you need to kick up one hell of a stink 56 % of all dogs stolen are staffy's. admittedly Zack's return was down to a very honest young lad but stories like this dug tug at peoples heart strings and get them thinking. Boyce another missing staff (a puppy) was sold to a lady out of the back of a van in shrewsbury she went to the vets with him handed him in and he is now back with his owners. dont give up you need to be as tenacious as a staffy! hope you get little neo back xxx Zoe Zack James & jodyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is early days yet Bubble - of course we all want to see Neo back as soon as possible but sometimes it does take a time - I don't know if you have looked at any of the reunited stories - but you can see from some of them, like Digby, or Blue that all the postering etc pays off in the end, even if it takes a while. Don't be downhearted xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased something is now being done by the police. I think this is now the road to go down if the police in the first instance are not responsive. I remember going higher up has been helpful before. I feel the police should now be informed of the problem of this dogknapping etc. and be made to be more hands on. After all in the eyes of the law it is a crime and should be given precedence as one. Good luck in your plight to get Neo back. Stay safe sweetie. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Firstly a little explanation as to the false address. The idea is a legit buyer would ring the number again to say they cant find address, and thats when the seller says dont worry, where are you, we will come and meet you. And they usually bring the dog with them and the sale takes place on the street. Keelah deserves all the thanks, she is the one that wrote a great letter to West Mids Police and you now have them listening to you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

REPOST - bubbleblonde20 @ 15:18 - 18/7/2007 ok went to police thios morning was not helpful as usual said they wont do anyhting till we can prove a crime has been commited so we went to the police head quarters in birmingham to make a complaint and they said they would investigate so about 30 min ago 2 police knocked the door because of the brilliant email kellah sent they had no choice but to send some officers round to investiagte all the claims we have made thank u keelah for that without it we would have still been ignored so they have took all the details we know all the phone mubers and bargain pages and the reg of that car and they are gonna do some serious digging to find out were our beloved dog was these 2 police officers were brilliant they apologised for the lack of police co operation and said it should have been looked into at the start and the police had not done there job i am ecstatic to finaly be taken serious and get some help on this matter from the police A BIG THANK YOU TO JAZZI AND KEELAH THEY WOULD NOT HAVE GOT INVOLVED WITH OUT U 2 XXXXXXXXXXXX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ok so police was supposed to come to my house today before 3 what a suprise they didnt so we went to police station to make a complaint we was told at frond desk that they would trace the phone number and an inspector would phone us to make a complaint they did phone and told us putting on a poster reward offered is illegal and they can trace a phone but it is not worth the cost over a dog so basically they wont do anything even though we being blackmailed and bribed they wont do a damn thing so yet our complaint hasnt been noted so we are going to our local mp see if they can do anything as the police are not intrested they dont think its worth the effort to trace a dog or some one who is blackmailing us they refused to give us a crime number as we carnt prove our dog has been stolen i ask u i pay my taxes for what to be fobbed off by people who couldnt give a toss we are a t aloss to what to do we do the know the number that has text us is a vodaphone pay and go sim card so i phoned voda phone and they were more helpful than the police they are not supposed to give out information but they did say the sim card is not registered ie no name or adress is attached to it so we do not know what to do we know our baby is close but no one is willing to help i am beyond angry and fed upLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Neo's owner - Jazzi has given me some useful newspaper contacts in your area. feel free to ring me on 07843 681980 so we can talk tactics to try and get your lovely little man a spot in the news pages of the local paper. Please, take some time to go on the reunited page and check the staffies on there - all of them came back after being sold on and this may well be the case with your man. every pet shop. petrol station, supermarket and takeaway in the area - anywhere peopel may go - is worth it as are the pubs, which is where a lot of the trading is done. give us a ring and we will talk it through!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a gorgeous little boy Neo is! If you have pet insurance and your policty covers it, ask about help with the cost of advertising and reward. Poster as widely as possible, in local pubs (where dogs are sometimes sold on) parks, vets, local shops, near bus stops, shools, local dog obedience clubs, leisure facilities such as cinemas, pools ect ask for local postman if he/she will help to deliver mini posters and send a poster to your local sorting office. Carry credit card size posters to hand out to dog walkers, with a photo one one side and a contact number on the back. Also worth placing an add in your local free paper to let people know that he is lost. Check as many rescues as you can in person/or someone who knows Neo, to make sure that he isn't there. Great that Neo is chipped, but they are not always picked up by scanners, so he might be listed as an unchipped dog. Also worth contacting your local staffie rescue and breed club and giving them his details. Make your puppy the most recognised Staffie around!!! Hope he is safely home soonxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Try these numbers for RSPCA Shelter 0121 427 6111, Hospital 0121 426 6777. They may no longer work having been replaced by the 0870 ones. Good luck. Lets hope there is some news soon on Neo.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Neo well. Come home soon Neo. Stay safe now x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
