typically a lost dog will spend some days moving away from where they were lost and even keep running - which is why posters and sightings are so important so you know what direction and how far a dog has travelled - then they seem to settle in an area - you need to renew the posters and redate them so people who think they might have seen him don't dismiss the idea becasue they have assumed he would have been caught by now if the posters have been up a while. You'll need to renew them as well becasue they get removed :-( Get them up in a circle surrounding the area he was last sighted.
Get dog walkers and people you meet to add the phone number onto their mobile, there and then, so if they should spot him they don;t need to try and remember where to find the phone number or wait til they get home. Make it as easy as possible for the non-dog person to bother to let you know.
Alert anyone ane everyone who travel around the area - taxi drivers, postmen and women, window cleaners, etc etc
I've been there - we got my dog back after over 3 weeks on the run - so stay strong.

I live in Cambridge, when I see a sighting I will do my best to go to the area, I will take a slip lead with me. I have 3 dogs and would be devastated if this happened to them. Good luck, I know of a terrier that was found safe after a few months x

Post from Duffy's owner.....
Sadly no luck in finding Duffy this afternoon. We had 8+ sets of people looking for Duffy all along the River Cam and throughout the green areas from Fen Ditton to Logan's Meadow (South bank). I am devastated. But, I am also incredibly GRATEFUL to all my friends, and humbled by the beauty of humanity. People I don't even know have been helping, and for that I can't express how thankful I am. PLEASE KEEP SHARING AND KEEP POSITIVE - he's out there and seems healthy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

***DUFFY SIGHTING!!***
SAINSBURYS COLDHAM'S COMMON ROUNDABOUT, CB1
Duffy was sighted this evening (21st of February) and the lovely person tried to catch him, but he bolted towards Barnwell Road..
AlisonH
Thank you. I have emailed the ad to Duffy's owner.
Lookout
I've emailed the advert I saw to admin. If I were you I would go to the pound to check as they regularly get the breed wrong, chips can move around inside and sometimes can get damaged so they aren't always picked up. Also phone Wood Green as they are one of the largest places strays get taken so he might've ended up there
Peggotty
re the comment below it may be someone picked him up and took him out of the area if they aren't local - they might not have known how/where to contact a dw (even if there was emergency cover) and in some areas its really not possible to track one down at weekends (whatever the law says). So I'd contact neighbourng authorities as well on Monday. Just in case.
Don't assume they will have found the chip and don't assume if you contact shelters that they actually physically check to see if they've picked him up and he's in their records. (I've come across shelter staff and police who don't bother to look - or the records are deceptive in how they describe a dog - despite what they tell you). Always double check. Nicely of course - you want to keep them onside.
CalamityJane
If he was lost in a country park have you tried leaving something with your scent on /a toy of his near where he was lost, with some food too in case he is still wandering around the area to lure him back and hopefully get him to stay in one place. If you have lots of posters up in the park then hopefully if he comes back he will be seen and you can be contacted.
csquaredb
If he's been picked up, it may be that the finder will hang on to him and keep him safe until Monday to get him checked for a chip, when vets are back open. Many people don't know about the legal requirement to contact dog wardens or incorrectly assume there is no cover at weekends. Fingers crossed xx

Update from Vikki
**DUFFY UPDATE - STILL MISSING!!** Today has been full of friends and family helping to distribute posters and source info. There's been one 'possible' sighting, but apparently a 4x4 picked up the dog. This was on the A603 near Queens and Robinson College sports fields (south west Cambridge). Otherwise, we're still at a loss. I'm so worried, scared for him, and missing him. Thank you, everyone for sharing and getting in contact. PLEASE PLEASE KEEP DOING SO!! I just want him home and there is a substantial reward offered.

Could you E-mail admin@doglost,co.uk the photo and information and this can then be passed on to Duffy's owner, thanks Lookout.

Hi, is there a way to add a picture to the comment? I've seen someone selling a dog on a Peterborough Rehoming site, they said they took him in but landlord won't allow pets, so they are selling him. They say is is staff cross Rottweiler, but original owners are not known, so maybe they just didn't know what he was? I have pictured the add, might be nothing, but might be worth a look?
Doglover
Do not really want to say this, but have you checked with the railways and made sure no accidents have occurred.
Vikki Scott
Hi all - thank you for your help.

I lost Duffy in the country park off Addenbrookes road. Right by the railway line and near Addenbrookes. He went off under the overpass. I think he continued South, but I can't be sure. It's been so long now that I have no idea how far he's traveled. He chased a rabbit and didn't recall - went out of sight and I couldn't get him back.
I'm desperate to find him. Thank you so much for your help and looking out - really appreciate it.
