Hi, I don?t know if this will be of any help to you but I thought I would mention it anyway..... I live in Clydach in Swansea, on Lone Rd (the main rd) On Wed the 6th I was sitting out the front of my house with my 2 pups watching the traffic (trying to get them used tot he noise) and a scruffy red car like and old escort went up the hill towards Craig Cefn park way. It slowed down to look at my dogs there were 3 guys in the car and a fully grown Staffordshire bull terrier hanging out the back window. Excuse me if I sound ignorant but they looked like gypsies and up to no good in my opinion. I don?t usually judge people but they were 3 fully grown men and didn?t seem to be going any where in particular apart from looking about. They turned back around and came back down the hill and stopped outside my house (I was still sitting on my drive with the pups) the guy on the passengers side wound his window down (I thought they were going to say something) but the guy in the passenger seat went OH MY GOD THERES 2 OF THEM!!!! (Obviously on about my pups) and then they drove off. I wish I had taken the number plate but at that time I didn?t think I just wanted to get my pups inside. They were obviously up to no good as they didn?t look like your normal dog lovers. Later on that evening I was going out to my car on the drive and seen them AGAIN heading up my hill towards the Craig Cefn Park area I tried to take the number plate but it went too fast. I?m not sure where you live in the SA6 area but I thought id mention this incase it would be of any help in the search for Poppy. Id be devastated if I lost either of my too so I can?t imagine how you feel. If you need any more info me a mail and I will help as best I can. I didn?t get the number plate but I had a very good look at the guys in the car!!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dasiy doggy - Hi, Sorry, its the one where you come off the M4 at margam, head towards margam park and then there's a turning right, which takes you on the lanes towards Pyle. Its the one down there. Sorry, not that familiar with the area. Yes, Alfie was picked up with a long legged terrier bitch. If only they could talk. Poor Alfie. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry I'm confused - Kenfig Ind Est or Kenfig Hill - Kenfig is in Port Talbot, Kenfig Hill is in Bridgend. When you say "the other terrier", was Alfie found with another dog then? Not Poppie I presume? Feel really sorry for poor Alfie, especially not knowing what he's been through poor boy. Thinking of you all. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Daisy doggy - Hi, It was Kenfig Hill Ind Est. I went down last night and spoke to one of the security men and asked about cctv. Apparently Alfie and the other terrier had been running around since sun/mon week comencing 11/6 They wernt picked up until the friday. It was shortly after the security followed a van down the road that the dogs appeared. They are going to speak to the guy that was on duty that night to see if he recorded the vehicle and maybe look at the cctv, but would have to check with management first. If Alfie and Poppie couldve stayed together they wouldve have. Alfie doesnt know any different, he's always had her there. He's really depressed now, i think he must be pining for Poppie. The cctv footage i had from up the road by me, has come back. They were able to enhance the image of the van, but not able to make out any details of a number plate. They reckon it is likely that the van either did not have a number plate, was covered in mud or that spray stuff to stop camera's picking it up. They came to this conclusion as other areas of the van were greatly enhanced. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is there any more information on the van? Do you have any idea how long Alphie had been wandering on Port Talbot Ind Est? (ie had anybody in any of the offices seen him at all?) Are we talking about the Kenfig Ind Estate in Port Talbot? Just thinking about the best places to look for Poppie - if Alphie had been in Port Talbot for a day or two then maybe it's best to concentrate on looking there. Would Poppie and Alphie have been likely to stay together, if they could?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would try to get an article in the local press about your experience with the dog warden, the pound and the fact that the dog was moved to Berkshire and about to be rehomed all within such a short time and in spite of the fact that he was microchipped. This sort of thing should not be allowed to happen or there is NO hope of people getting their beloved pets back! Councils are not very fond of adverse publicity and it may just help to prevent it happening again to someone else. I do hope you find Poppie very soon and nearer to home without her meeting up with the same dog wardenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi - After a long drive and arriving home at 01.45am, Alffie is home safe and sound. You will not believe what happend. Alffie was picked up in Port Talbot Ind Est last friday by the dog warden and taken to the pound, which one? We havent established that yet. My sister informed the pounds in that area last thurs/fri and went over with posters. We had a message on the house phone from the rescue centre in Wokingham yesterday, they scanned him to get our details, as they had found a new home for Alffie and wanted to know his temperament etc. The dog warden had told them he had contacted the owner and that we no longer wanted him!!! Can you believe it???!!!! Poor Alffie, we may never have seen him ever again if they had not scanned him. Why didnt the warden do it?? How iresponsible is that!? Why do they get re-homed in Berkshire? It hapend to a friend of mine aswell, apparently they all get sent up there. What is the point of paying to get your animal chipped if no one can be bothered to scan them?? Aparently, it is not that uncommon, a lady at the PDSA said 'Quote' - 'We dont have time to scan every dog that comes in'! It differs from county to county, all depends on the council, some scan and other dont. Anyway, we have him back now, he was exhausted in the car, just collapsed on my lap and went to sleep. I think he was just glad to be found and couldnt believe his luck. Going to play hell with the council later. Please keep an eye out for Poppie as she is still missing, i think they dumped Alffie as he has been neutured. Poppie is my life and i have been devastated ever since they were stolen. My cctv tape of the van is in the process of being enhanced, it is taking ages. Im going to put a load of posters up and trawl the streets of Port Talbot incase i spot her. Thanks for all your support. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

FAO JAYNE -Do you know in which area the CCTV caught the van, as the village of Craig Cefn Parc is out in the country and I can not think of any CCTV being up there ! Or was it in a different location ? If so, we need to know where to keep an eye out. Cheers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Will put up posters in Mumbles. If these dogs got out...why did they get out? No dog should be able to escape! Im sorry but this is unacceptable, careless.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am just down the road from where they are from - I saw the notice in the local paper and also it was in either Dog World or Our Dogs last week. Apparently, they escaped from their home and later that day , were seen being picked up on the roadside by a man in a van. He may have thought they were lost and thought he was doing the right thing. The owners have postered the area well - posters in all local shops and local paper. I am keeping my eye open for them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as admin receives a photograph, the poster can be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible. Lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins, vets, pet shops, ask postmen to take to sorting office, milkmen, bin men, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, all takeaway food shops, dog training clubs, supermarkets, car parks, and in car windows. Hand out smaller posters or cards to people, especially dog walkers and deliver to houses etc. Police stations, and Dog Wardens, R.S.P.C.A , and all rescue centres need checking frequently, and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows POPPIE well. Good luck Poppie x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
