I was of the understanding that it is a legal requirement to have all dogs out in public wearing a collar and tag with the owners name, phone number and house number and postcode so that they can be identified. Obviously if a dog escapes from the home/garden and doesn`t wear a collar at all times that`s not possible. I do see quite a number of dogs running in the areas I walk who are not wearing collars, and on occasions some have been unfriendly to other dogs so it is not easy to restrain or catch them when not wearing a collar.
Ellie
Yes dog ID tags should really be a must. I have on quite a few occasions found dogs roaming around,( mainly ones that have sneaked out of garden gates that have been left open), and managed to get them and deliver them home if there is an address, or ring the number on them. Much to the relief of the owners. It certainly would save a lot of time and worry.
NickyB
of if only all dog owners had collars with id tags on ........ the finder could immediately phone the numbers, and/or go to the address on the tag - reading this story with involvement of doglost, mentioning fire brigade, rspca, comments criticising the finders actions etc etc etc. an pettag costing £4 would have saved so many people do much time and worry

Absolutely love happy endings. Thanks to Adrian, Jager & his Mum are re-united. Welcome home Jager.
The video link of their re-union should be posted with a public warning:- TISSUES NEEDED for the Happy Tears!! X
LindaT
Fantastic news that Jager has been safely reunited! Adrian has done a very good and kind deed in bothering to pick up a stray dog, take him home and then contact the owner ... if he lives in London and works in Bicester he is obviously a busy man and a lot of other folk would have just glanced at a stray dog and gone on their busy way. A friend of mine once got out of her car to catch a dog on a busy two-lane short by-pass when all other drivers were slowing down and no-one else bothered to help or actually stop, I`ve heard of other dogs dodging traffic as well, so Adrian is to be thanked and I hope if I ever lose my dog someone with his good heart is around to help. On another note ... is there a link to this video as I would love to see it but am not on facebook. Welcome home Jagar :-) Haha ... GillyP you were posting as I was typing!! Thank you, will try the link but don`t think it will allow me as I am not a member of the facebook:-( Last edited: 2016-02-19 07:42:16 by LindaT

Lovely photos...press refresh to see....May we have link to video please?

When you watch the video the (gorgeous) gentleman who found Jäger and in this video greets the owner has a foreign ( sexy French) accent - perhaps now someone may cut back on their criticism of this lovely man.
PS - He can find my dog any day of the week ❤️Last edited: 2016-02-19 07:11:12 by Bo

yes i know that, doglover thank you, i also know the law, but not everything is black and white? it might be if you are sitting in front of a computer doing nothing but some people have to do other things as well, the dogs safety is the main thingLast edited: 2016-02-18 21:11:59

Haha Skywalker sometimes computers can't spell!! But he will probably need it at some stage as well.Last edited: 2016-02-18 21:03:45 by ClaireC
Doglover
I know what you are saying Ronmaxtye, but if he had not heard about Jäger, would he still have the dog and not reported. You being a volunteer must know that
If you find a dog it is the law that you hVe to report it to the dog warden.
Unknown
i agree with you doglover, but this man should be thanked that he had the foresight to keep hold of the dog and not just pass by, although we know what should happen not everyone knows what we know and i am very glad he held onto the dog until it can be reunited, at least he was safe, his owner may have gone through a few days of worry but it could have been very very much worse
Bo
Great news and good of the chap to take Jäger home with him and keep him safe. Not everyone is obsessed with lost dogs and procedures and not everyone would have picked the dog up and taken him home.
Doglover
We realise that the man did a good thing in picking this little dog up in the early hours Nd keeping him safe, but he should have realised that someone would be missing him and should have reported it to a dog warden, not one in London, but one in Bicester where he works. Then all the stress and worries that's the owner has gone through since Tuesday could have been alleviated, if it turns out to be Jäger. Xx I sincerely hope it is Jäger.

We are fairly certain that JAGER IS FOUND SAFE & WELL! We won't know for sure until this evening, a man who works in Bicester but lives in London found a dog matching Jager's description in the early hours of Tuesday morning, he didnt know what to do so took him home with him - he has now found out about Jager & has been in touch with Carly - he has sent pictures & we are fairly sure this is JAGER - he is meeting Carly with him this evening at which time Carly will confirm for certain!!
Doglover
Perhaps an old couple has taken him in as no sightings. Pleased to see in local pAper. X

Here is a summary posted to Jager's facebook page x
18/2: Jager is still missing. A huge thank you & well done to everyone for keeping the momentum & the search going, so many people are now aware of Jager - this is essential to get him home! There has been so much activity pro-actively supporting Carly, everyone has been truly amazing.
To recap, Jager slipped out of his home at the Saxon as a guest was leaving at 1am on Tuesday morning, he was seen at 1:30am by Sainsburys but no further sightings have been reported. Jager is regularly walked around the town centre & his favourite, Garth Park.
To summarise incase anyone has missed anything, there are no new sightings of Jager since 1:30am on Tuesday morning - Jager has now been reported stolen & Thames Valley Police are actively investigating his disappearance, they are currently checking CCTV from the area on the night of Jager's disappearance, anyone with info who prefers to speak directly with the Police should contact them, quoting crime ref number 43160047420 - The local & surrounding dog warden is aware, as are local vets & Police, there are group members who are starting to contact vets & dog wardens further afield, any help with this would be appreciated. If Jager is stolen then we really need to spread the word as far as possible as he would likely be moved out of the area & it is important that he would be recognised in any area across the country. THERE IS A CASH REWARD FOR JAGER'S SAFE RETURN
Carly made a lot of calls to OCC yesterday in a bid to get help with checking some drainage in the area where Jager was last seen where the safety gate is missing, sadly despite many calls she has yet to locate a person in OCC who can help her with this, Thames Water have also been contacted for help as have the Fire Service. The Fire Service have confirmed that they are able to help on the request of the RSPCA, therefore anyone who has heard anything in the drains is asked to personally report this to the RSPCA, please be sure to report exactly what you have heard as if Jager is trapped in there this will help them to work this out, please do not speculate as this could hinder their investigation, they can be contacted on 0300 1234 999. Carly will be following up this morning, however if no help is forthcoming, she will be contacting private draining companies to ensure that this is searched today, the third day that Jager has been missing. If anyone has any contacts who can help, please ask them to call Carly asap on 07947896575
Jager's doglost poster can be found here http://www.doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=98648#.VsWNifmLSUk
There is still a possibility that Jager is laid low so searches will continue, a tracker dog is available for Monday if Jager is still missing, a reminder to anyone out searching that if Jager is laying low, he will be very scared, he is a friendly, playful boy but he will now be in survival mode & will not be happy to break his cover. Please try to keep noise to a quiet chat on searches, certainly people Jager doesn't know shouldn't be shooting his name, this will confuse & scare him. Even people Jager does know would be better just quietly chatting, he is far more likely to break his cover for a familiar voice he recognises chatting than if he hears any panic or worry in their voice
If anyone sees Jager, please contact Carly immediately on 07947896575 x
Skywalker99
Fire brigade needed I think...and food near the entrance
DogLostLisa P - Regional Co-ordinator, Central
Thanks all, it's not that kind of drain, more like a tunnel that you'd walk into if it was bigger, you can't see very far into it & we don't know where it leads to or what's in there so it's not safe to attempt anything without professional help x
rachelmorris
Happy to help with searching if people needed, sorry not been around last two days but local and can help some. Don't have any drain skills though. Just a thought. Any dogs he is friendly with, could send down near cover on a long lead see if it entices him outLast edited: 2016-02-17 20:24:42 by rachelmorris
Skywalker99
Fire brigade should have specialist equipment - see Oddie id 98636. Security cover missing must be a health and safety breach
Skywalker99
Fire brigade and RSPCA would be my first port of call, and or dyno rod...also...is it worth lowering some food down where the cover is off to see if he comes for it?
DogLostLisa P - Regional Co-ordinator, Central
Thank you S, owner has spent all day being passed from person to person at Oxfordshire County Council which has wasted a lot of time & now it's dark, also fire brigade & Thames Water now contacted, will pass these companies on thank you x
S
Here is a list of local drain/sewer clearance companies in the area from CheckATrade. I'm sure one of them will help if contacted: http://www.checkatrade.com/Search/default.aspx?postcode=OX26+2EJ&adaptive=True&location=Bicester&sort=1&facet_Category=21&facet_Recent+feedback=Within+last+year

Will the fire brigade not help?
Everything crossed that he is found safe and well.

Due to the lack of sightings, we must consider the possibility that Jager has been stolen, this has been reported to the Police who are now investigating Jagger's disappearance. Here is a summary posted to Jager's facebook page x Jager is still missing, I thought a quick summary would be useful of what has been covered so far. Firstly a big thank you & well done to everyone, we all know time is of the essence in getting the word out asap & you all have been great in helping Carly get so much covered in the first 24 hours, let's hope all your efforts see Jager home soon.

To recap, Jager slipped out of his home at the Saxon as a guest was leaving at 1am on Tuesday morning, he was seen at 1:30am by Sainsburys but no further sightings have been reported

The local & surrounding dog warden is aware, as are local vets & Police, Carly is now asking the Police to consider that Jager has possibly been picked up & stolen. Bicester Advertiser have indicated they will write about Jager. Many other local businesses & organisations have been contacted & Jager's details have been shared to many local Facebook sites & his details are circulating on twitter. Many people have kindly given their time to help Carly search & knock on doors on the area , sadly no leads have come up, however there are some areas to be re-searched in daylight & also council assistance may be required so if anyone has any contacts then please pass details to Carly. Carly has laid down scent in the area Jager was sighted & also around outside his home. Jager's doglost poster can be found here http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=98648#.VsP8GKCnzqA

Carly will be out at dawn whilst it is still quiet to check for signs of Jager & today will be contacting a tracker dog lady, although being in town may affect how successful this could be, hopefully she will be able to help.

In the meantime, please keep doing what you are all doing, tell everyone you know about Jager! Finally, a reminder to anyone out searching that if Jager is laying low, he will be very scared, he is a friendly, playful boy but he will now be in survival mode & will not be happy to break his cover. Please try to keep noise to a quiet chat on searches, certainly people Jager doesn't know shouldn't be shooting his name, this will confuse & scare him. Even people Jager does know would be better just quietly chatting, he is far more likely to break his cover for a familiar voice he recognises chatting than if he hears any panic or worry in their voice x
