a black Greyhound dog has been found apparently dumped on the Burton Dassett hills in Warwickshire, very thin and hungry. This has frequently been a popular dumping ground for dogs in the past (I used to live there.) Ref: www.lostyourpet.co.uk (found dogs)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have worked with this dog recently and I am absolutely disgusted by what has happened to him. He is a gentle boy and the people who took him had clearly not shown any thought to his welfare or state of mind. Shocking.I for one would be happy if the authorities throw the book at these individuals. I was really upset when Retired Greyhound Trust informed me of the situation and I hope he is brought home soon, unscathed and hopefully not too traumatised. Sweep I missed you from the last day I saw you and may you keep safe from harm. Keep warm, keep well and come home soon. There are people ot there that REALLY love you!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There?s an article in the Dursley Gazette today, available online for non-locals. I?m annoyed about being mis-quoted without permission but that?s by the by. There are a number of differences between the newspapers version of events, and description of the dog, and information I was given by police and the dogs connections. Overall I don?t think the newspaper report has done anything to help get the dog back. I?ve made my feelings known to the Gazette but that?s not going to help now the article?s been published. I will cover Cirencester shops with Posters of Sweep, Countrywide the garden centres etc - have contacted Ciren Post office to alert the local posties of the theft. Also contacted our local greyhound rehomer. Tomorrow I will poster all the pet shops food suppliers etc. Has this dog been stolen for his breeding potential or is he neutered? Also I have contacts for some of the traveller liason officers I will email them if owner thinks that it will be of use? My thoughts are with the owners and of course Sweep. Good if their is a description of the two women for the polise (hopefully) to work on. Dog theft is a serious crime and should be treated as such. Fingers crossed Sweep in back in safe hands soon.xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has asked if I could point out that the small scar is actually on Sweeps right shoulder. It does show quite clearly on poster photo.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
