Well done islander. You have been such a very valued helper on Roxie's page, and there are many of us who call in, hopeing for an update. She is still on our minds, and in our hearts. It would be nice to hear from her owners if there ever are any sightings of similar dogs x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I haven't heard from Roxie's owners so don't have any news. But, if they're still looking at this page: PLEASE don't give up. Roxie's microchip is likely to mean that sooner or later she will be recognised. Please look at Weimaraner Blue's page on this website, found after nine months, and border terrier Digby's page, found after almost three months. Both dogs had fallen into the wrong hands, both reunited with their owners this month, both microchipped. Please ring or email me, or DogLost, if you'd like more help from DogLost helpers. Roxy?s owners have told me about two possible sightings. One was in Whimple, near Exeter, when a white husky was seen walking on a lead with a man beside the road sometime last week. Owners have been to Whimple and left posters in village stores and vets and with dog walkers. The other sighting was in Plymouth, also last week ? hope to get more info on this soon. Both sightings were thanks to the Lost ad in the Western Morning News. The paper also did a good editorial piece on Roxy on June 8, with a big pic and mention of DogLost. Doing a a search for ?Siberian husky? on the newspaper?s website brings up the article.. The owners also phoned the Ad Trader ad but didn?t manage to get much from the seller, other than that the dog had been sold. (Asking price ?200). Kylie managed to get more of a feel for the person.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Managed to speak to the people selling the Husky she was sold last Wednesday she did have blue eyes!! They say they had her from 10 weeks old, only re-homd her as she was a bit jumpy with her 6 month old child and she has another on the way!!! My feelings are they are genuine, she would give me details of who she sold her to just it was a man who had 5 acres of land so thought it would be good for her. Shows they know nothing of the breed. Land isnt the problem time and effort is. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Iv seen an advert in the Ad Trader for a pure white siberian husky female for sale 22 months old, in Launceston 01566 772958 it is probably genuine, but just incase Iv left a message on Roxys owners phone with the details. I also have tried to call the number to get some info but no answer will keep trying you never know. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Roxie was in Ivybridge and South Brent Gazette yesterday and also the other South Hams newspapers, with a pic. She has not been in the Herald Express and the Western Morning News (the best place for her to be) has now failed twice to use the story. Combining her story with Pansy's is a good idea. Went to biggish dog show at Cornwood near Ivybridge today and put Roxie posters in very prominent positions. Also got the organiser to make an announcement about Roxie on the PA system. I think I personally would try to follow them and hope that they go to their house. Would also try to take a photo with my mobile phone. If they headed for a car I would take the registration no. and try to get them in conversation by admiring the dog and petting it to try and see the collar or ID tag. Ask them about it in friendly conversation - how old, is she a rescue etc, how long have you had her, where did you get her from etc etc. Try and establish if they live in the area and if they come to the place a lot? Probably would have to play it by ear. Hopefully if I was with my husband he would have shot off to get our car so that we could secretly follow, but I don't suppose he would think of that !! Ha Ha Bless. Others may have another idea. Just to confirm that all those Emails were sent this morning, and have had about ten replies so far to say they have displayed the poster. Come on Roxie - give us a sighting ! x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in TQ9 so will obviously keep an eye out for Roxie, but what do you actually do if you think you spot a 'lost' dog. Do you ask questions if they are accompanied? Or follow if they are on a walk? It seems a hard next step to take to be sure you are not making a terrible mistake. Another suggestion I have is to use children as informants. They are clearly in an ideal position to observe any 'new' dog in their neighbourhood, and tell mum and dad rather than take any action themselves and parents can check on doglost....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The story is on page 3 of the Ivybridge and South Brent Gazette, but without a picture, as they got it too late, and unfortunately with no mention of DogLost either. The story is correct, though - more or less the same as the Exeter paper. But I don't think it's in the other South Hams papers of the same group, which is a pity. The news editor has told me that they'll do an update next week and I'll try to get them to correct all three omissions. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, got the paper, its on page 18 in the top left hand corner, a good write up so hopefully something will come of it. Have just heard (from someone on the Western Morning News) that Roxie is in the Exeter Express and Echo today. Can anyone confirm this? The paper doesn't circulate in the South Brent/Totnes area, where I am. The Plymouth Evening Herald said they wouldn't do anything on Roxie unless she had been reported to the police as possibly stolen and they could then do a crime story. Fingers crossed for the WMN tomorrow. I'm just going out to buy our local Gazette. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good idea from another dog's page: holidaymakers are out and about all the time and see things, and there's a website which lists loads of camp and caravan sites throughout the country, together with their contact details: ukcampsite.co.uk. Most sites have reception areas and noticeboards that everyone sees.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would also be good idea for all helpers to deliver posters to police stations and to give them to police officers and community support officers. Police stations in the same area often don't communicate properly with each other.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Roxie's owners: I think it would be very good if you took out an ad in the Pets Lost/Found section of the Western Morning News, which is seen by loads of people and would run for two weeks. Including Roxie's picture would draw people's eyes to the ad. You might also consider 'upgrading' Roxie as 'stolen' with the police, which should get you a crime number and them more involved and the press more interested. It's easy to argue that as there have been no reliable sightings she must have been picked up by someone who isn't returning her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Kylie, that's great - thanks. You asked for ideas for postering, so here goes: the places where lots of people go, especially dog walkers - pubs, supermarkets, vets, petshops, entrances to parks, village shops and noticeboards, fast food places, schools (children talk!), events such as horse/dog shows.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Roxie's owners: Would probably be good idea to contact the Sibe Husky Club of GB, which includes Husky Rescue, if you haven't done this already. Tel: 0871 277 6783. Heard from the Dartmoor rangers today that they're all aware of Roxie, as are the info centres at Haytor, Newbridge and Postbridge (probably duplicating what you've already done, I know). The AdTrader comes out today, and the other free yellow ads paper tomorrow, I think - both should be checked in case Roxie is being offered for sale. Gave posters to my postman to put in Totnes sorting office.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, my dad works at Sandy Bay a holiday camp here in Devon he has put posters up in the gatehouse, I have a day off today so going to put one up in the local Tescos, you never know all the tourists shop there. Also going out to put some at our local vets and tomorrow will put one up at Pets at Home, where most people down here shop for their pet supplies. Any other ideas gratefully received, we must get Roxie home, my Sibe Timber is her half brother would be good for them to get to be friends. Also sent 30+ posters to a friend who shows his huskys around the country hes going to distribute them at shows. come home Roxie XXXXX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Roxie's owners: I know this is a horrible thought, but do please check with Transport Police in case Roxie has strayed on to a railway line. Also Highways Authorities should be checked for any info on reports of dogs on the road. Maybe they even have cameras on the Devon Expressway like on motorways? (When we were helping owners find Merlin KT22 reunited in this area, Highways Authority were v. helpful). However, the fact that there have been no positive sightings to date probably indicate that she has been picked up by someone. So, lots and lots of posters please local helpers and let's hope someone comes forward with good news soon . . . . . Keep safe Roxie! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Although I live miles away in Surrey, have promised my friend, Islander, to spread the word about Roxie around here in case she had been taken out of the area. So, took Roxie's posters to Surrey County Show yesterday to display in dog show area. Battersea Dogs Home, who had a stand at the show, have taken a poster to check with their records - apparently there have been quite a few huskies turning up at the kennels recently.P.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

to islander, thank you for all your help firstly. yes my parents have contaced woodside, gables, RSPCA, dog wardens, every local vets, we chased the story to princetown but there are a few husky owners up ther so it was a dead end though we did leave lots of posters up there with the park rangers and the local tourist information centre aswell as the pubs. we believe that the only sighting is the one in filham park ivybridge which is where i myself live anyway and am in constant contact with all local dog walkers and the vets there. We have sent pics to local newspaper which covers very large area too, the western morning news. thank you again...e mail from owner. leanneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Leanne - good to hear from you. I've just left a message with your mum to ask her what, if anything, she managed to find out in Princetown. If this definitely wasn't Roxie we need to know. I plan to tell newspapers that if they want to use a picture of Roxie they should contact your mum and one will be emailed to them. If this is not the case, please let me know soonest. If you want to email one to me, then I could send it to papers as required. Your mum has my phone number in case you want to ring me. Roxie's owners, who do read this page, have contacted local dogs homes, but I'm not sure which ones. I suggest they should make sure they've talked to Gables Farm (01752 331603) and Woodside (01752 347503) in Plymouth, the RSPCA in Exeter (01392 439898), Margaret Green in Tavistock (01822 810215) and Animals in Distress, as well as Foredown Kennels in Kingkerswell (01803 872260) which I think is used as the local pound. The Dartmoor rangers also should have been informed. Dog wardens to contact are: South Hams (01803 861234), Teignbridge (01626 215881), Torbay (01803 201201), Plymouth (01752 304147) and Exeter (01392 265156). There's been no newspaper coverage so far, and I'm helping the owners with this this week (Keelah: have PMd you): Ivybridge and South Brent Gazette and Western Morning News for sure. Will also try Plymouth and Exeter papers but this is more difficult as Roxie is not from their area. Other suggestions would be welcome, including for national publications that might consider this story. Farmers Weekly? I'm continuing to poster in the South Brent and south Dartmoor area. Went to little dog show yesterday at Yealmpton and put posters up around the place. ADMIN: if Roxie has been picked up, which is very possible, she could well be outside the TQ area. PL starts about eight miles to the west, and EX only a bit more to the east. Please could you email Roxie's details to all helpers in EX, PL and TA (going up towards Taunton) areas?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I called South Hams Radio yesterday afternoon and they kindly put out another request to keep a look out for Roxie. Also rang Radio Devon and left message on their Helpline answerphone as all lines were busy. I rang Gabrielle vet near Filham Park in Ivybridge and they confirmed they had posters up and that there had been a sighting of a dog similar to Roxie's description, chasing a cat nearby. I have also sent details to the local branch of SARDA (Search and Rescue Dogs Assoc) so they will keep a look out too. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I talked to Roxie's owner yesterday evening. She's had a rather dubious report that a similar dog was seen running across a road on the outskirts of Ivybridge (Filham Park area) during the evening of May 23. Also on May 23, but at lunchtime, a friend of mine saw a 'cream-coloured' husky in the Plume of Feathers pub in Princetown. The dog was with two young men in their early 20s and was lying down, looking quite relaxed. Roxie's owner is going to Princetown tomorrow to investigate. Whether Roxie is still on the loose, or whether she's been picked up, sooner or later she's going to be spotted as she's such a distinctive dog and very unusual is this area. What we need to do, therefore, is to put up masses more posters, and over a wide area including, of course, Princetown. Please can anyone help with this? We don't have as many active helpers in this area as we need. Roxie could have run south of the A38 into the South Hams, or north onto Dartmoor, and would have no problem surviving on rabbits. Tomorrow I'll take a load of posters to the Dartmoor Preservation Association's AGM and give them to the 70-80 people from across the area. The DPA's office is in Princetown and I've asked the staff to keep their eyes peeled. I, or Roxie's owner, will report back here when the Plume of Feathers has been investigated. I live 15 miles away in Torbay, but I have emailed details to my dog loving friend in Didworthy, South Brent. Good luck, being white I expect someone will see her soon, even if she has gone up onto the moor.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in Ivybridge about 3 miles away, will be keeping an eye open for this very distinctive dog, there are no other dogs in this immediate area i am almost sure so she will be easy to spot if local. Good luck in your hunt, stay positive!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
