Doglost are getting all the relevant details together on this case. Correct owners details have been listed on computer until forms are received by petlog together with a covering letter from doglost concerning all the facts of this case.
Due to Christmas posting petlog have taken details from myself to record on file- so in the unlikely occasion that Maggie got away they have the correct details to contact owner Lynn.

Robbie55ww..I totally agree. There seems to be a number of problems at the moment with various chip companies and vets, maybe if vets/chip companies where fined/named and shamed, things might change, or the law needs to change
Robbie55ww
Great news this dog is now home.
Everyone is promoting having your dog microchipped but what is the point when this can happen, if its a loophole or plain ignorance the problem must be sorted to avoid anything like this happening again.

Wonderful news. Must be your best Christmas gift ever. WELL DONE ALL who helped, and advised on how to return Maggie to her RIGHTFUL owner. This thief has caused stress to the owner, Maggie, and the peson who brought her. If someone tried to sell me a dog (Or any other animal) I would be a "Bit sus" Stay very safe now gorgeous girl:-)xxx

Well done team Maggie! A lot goes on behind scenes...but when able to update we will. ..Its more important to get the dogs home first!

Until all the details are obtained we cannot make any comments regarding any others involved. Police are dealing and once everything is finally sorted and we have all the correct facts we can then update.

Oh what a lovely ending to a very sad situation. I still think the owner needs to take action against the Vet and the chip company, this could happen to any of us!!!!
But a wonderful Christmas present for the owner and of course little Maggie. Stay safe now sweetheart. Xxxxxx

Well done Doglost! This shows how important it is to make sure chip details are up to date. The people who bought her have, unfortunately, had a hard lesson, I hope they are able to recover their money.

I can't begin to express how happy I am to be able to say that after a very long roller coaster of a night waiting on tenterhooks Maggie is HOME !!!!!!
Doglost has been helping Lynn locate Maggie but not able to say too much and tonight she has been recovered from people who had bought her from someone by a fantastic police officer who has gone above and beyond to help Lynn get her back and I can't begin to thank him enough ! Also must thank Jan who has been helping Lynn and has been a tremendous support to her !
A reunited photo will be added tomorrow ... or should I say later today !
Welcome home little Maggie and please stay safe from now on xxxx

We are exploring every legal avenue to assist , we need to know who and when any one was contacted regarding changing details. These were not in present owners name but a previous partner.Needs to obtain a reference number and ask police to help to check dog has not been stolen and they have the powers to speak with person who now holds Maggie.

Suggesting a story in local papers as well in the hope it is seen by whoever now has Maggie.
Jaycey
Aww I really feel for Lynn...To know someone has your fur baby and Petlog could help them be reunited, but won't is disgusting..I understand about data protection etc...But why the hell wasn't Lynn contacted when Maggies original chip details were seen...I'd go through every channel available to get her back and make Pet log and the vet suffer the consequences for what they've done!...Hope Lynn gets Maggie back very soon xxLast edited: 2015-12-03 10:02:29 by Jaycey

I have spoken to Lynn and offered some advice and guidance and have also contacted our police co ordinator for further advice
Lynn
No Nina she isn't insured, her owner doesn't work.
DogLostNina
Is your dog insured you may have some legal cover or be able to get some advice from them.
Lynn
Thank you skywalker99

Here is the link for Trevor Cooper's dog advice line http://doglaw.co.uk/, click on 'telephone advice'
Skywalker99
..and ring Doglost to ask for help...they may not see everything here
Skywalker99
Ring the chip company and complain bitterly...and follow it up in writing, you can threaten legal action if necessary. Tell the police, if she has been stolen then they may be able to get the new 'owners' deatils from the vet/chip company. Appalling that a vet did this and the chip company let them. Tell the vet you will expect them to cover all the costs of recovering Maggie. which solicitor did you contact? Try Trevor Cooper at www.doglaw.co.uk, they have an advice line where you pay premium phone rates to get advice but it would be a very long phone call to cost £1000...also tell petlog you expect them to cover costs of recovering Maggie....Last edited: 2015-12-01 17:32:55 by Skywalker99

Hi we now believe Maggie has been stolen, as we contacted the microchip company pet log, with her chip number, to be told she has been rechipped, I told them she had been stolen & that I was the legal owner & have the papers from her vet to prove this, I asked them to tell me who she had been rechipped too & they told me they cannot do this ? They have said only a solicitor can contact them for that information, I have contacted a solicitor to do this and he wants £1000 up front if he is prepared to take the case on, I don't have that kind of money, Iam not working myself my daughter & my grandchildren are distraught we can't eat, we can't sleep we just want our baby Maggie back, please someone tell me how pet log can protect the rights of the person that has rechipped her without my permission & not the right of the owner, I feel soooo ILL I just don't know where to turn. Maggie has not been in a dog shelter because I have checked all of them & they are all aware of her as she is advertised on all of the local dog lost & found sites, dog theft awareness, lost and found pets northeast etc, there has not even been one sighting of her, because obviously she has been stolen and sold on, please can anybody help me with this situation ? I just can't go on without my Maggie. Thank you.

Thanks Jayne x
Unfortunately no news yet of Maggie since she went missing from her garden . I have advised her owner to contact dog wardens , holding kennels , microchip company etc if not already done .
Hoping for news of Maggie very soon x
