It is 96375 on the M62 Gosh what an awful situation for that dog to be in, it is a very similar looking dog though! Could have been picked up and then got out of a car at a service area? Hope it didn`t get hit, may have heard something on the news as it would have been causing a terrible hazard.
LindaT
Charlie and sooty, the ID 93675 is linked to puppies which have been reunited.
charlie and sooty
Hi...Just a thought, Is there any chance that the dog SIGHTED M62 NOT CAUGHT ID 93675, could be this one, (maybe different breed or to far)..It was just a thought!!!! xx
charlie and sooty
Hi Hollieberry and Doglover. I will keep checking spotted Alvaston page, just incase he/she is spotted again. It really is a shame that no one seemed to care !!! will keep you updated if any news xxx
Doglover
Hi Charlie and sooty and Holliberry, I agree with you. So many people saw this dog and could not, or did not help it. Maybe it belonged to Travellers Nd they have moved on. As you say Charlie and sooty , let us hope he/she is safe and warm somewhere. X
Hollieberry
Charlie and sooty well done for trying to find an update on this poor sad dog if only people had tried to help it when seen.Apparently it could not walk very well so it would not have been hard to restrain.x
charlie and sooty
I messaged Spotted Alvaston face book page, asking if anyone had any updates on this poor dog. I received a reply back, saying that this dog just seems to have disappeared....I just hope this he/his is somewhere safe x
LindaT
Perhaps he/she has been picked up by a local dog-warden? I do hope if that is the case then the dog will get whatever treatment is needed and gets the chance of rehoming.
Doglover
Sane here Hollieberry, perhaps we will never know what happened to this poor dog. x
Hollieberry
Such a shame that this dog seems to be off the radar .Was hoping for a good ending .
charlie and sooty
I have just checked on Spotted Alvaston f/b page. There appears to have been no sightings of this dog for some time.
charlie and sooty
rottie you are brilliant x Thank you
Doglover
You are also amazing rot tie. Wish I was there with you. Xx

YSpent a few hours over alvaston again today, no sight I am afraid, I have posted again on spotted alvaston page and spoken to a few dog walkersLast edited: 2015-11-15 13:15:59 by rottie
Doglover
Hello Rayded, I think you are wonderful. Any help for this poor dog would be appreciated. If you read in my earlier posts, I suggested he may come from a Travellers site or been abandoned. STAFFIES are the most loving and loyal dogs you can find but unfortunately, sometimes it is the way they have been treated that makes them aggressive. I am sure that this poor dog has no strength left in him/her to be anything like that. I am as mentioned in the previous posts, 168 miles away so unable to help physically, but it would make my day, as a Staffie owner, to have this dog safe at last. xx
rottie
I will try to get over tomorrow again, postered area and have not had a phone call, need sightings to be able to trap, Ray is brilliant but needs to know regular area dog is, please local doglost helpers need your help, I am only20 miles away but have hands full will 3 rescues and full time job, anyone with spare time please also help, need sightings. Help please Derby helpers
LindaT
That sounds like the only positive bit of news for this poor dog in weeks, Ray, and I hope that you are able to help to rescue him/her; I don`t know if you have to advise the "powers that be" that you will be setting up a trap as it looks as if the sightings are in fairly busy areas, could this cause problems with other animals/children investigating them? Fingers crossed for some good news very soon, I do wish I was able to give practical help but too far away.
RAYDEDICOAT
this one takes some believing!! if anyone near has been feeding and he sticks to a pattern.i can be up there tomorrow morning and hopefully catch him, its obvious its his breed lines that puts people off, but as you good people say,NO ANIMAL should be subjected to this weather let alone the firework situation.. if anyone can locate the poor thing tomorrow, and find out where he holds up, DON,T feed him and i can be there in just over an hour,he can come back to HOLLY TREES and start to trust people again..i have a few ex large cage traps automatic setting that should end his mental and physical suffering.. we will soon win him over,if you could do that bit of groundwork i will do the rest, good luck.. I know not all dog wardens are the same, one near me did set a trap for a stray dog and didn't give up and that dog was caught and rehomed. Wish this poor dog had him as a dog warden! Not alone thinking how frustrating it is not being near to physically be looking. Does anyone know if there is a dog rescue place near to where this dog is roaming?
Rosie
Yes thank you Doglover for all your hard work. It's unbelievable that the dog wardens are unable to do anything until he is 'contained'. I'm sure if there was a child roaming the streets it would be a different story so why a poor dog is treated differently is beyond me Last edited: 2015-11-13 10:40:02 by Rosie
LindaT
Thanks Doglover for trying to get the warden and RSPCA to pick up this poor dog ... I can`t understand why the dog wardens have to wait until someone else contains a roaming dog ... I thought they were paid to do that!! Perhaps better that a member of the public can catch the dog as from what I have read on some posts on other dogs it is sometimes the case that a very poorly dog gets PTS by the powers that be :-(
Doglover
Same here Rosie, so far away and unable to physically help. And LindaT I have tried phoning Dog Wardens and RSPCA and they Re not interested unless the dog is contained by someone. Their resources apparently do not stretch that far. But if we all pray and think positive maybe we will get some good news soon. He must be getting food from somewhere, otherwise after all this time, surely he would have collapsed. Xx
Rosie
This is so frustrating, surely this poor dog can be caught if someone tried. Please please please can someone try and catch him. Surely he can't run too fast with an injury? wish I wasn't 200 miles away as I would try myself
LindaT
Can a trap be set for this poor dog, it must be a miracle he/she hasn't been involved in an RTA, poor dog. Where is the dog warden or RSPCA?
sophiesuds
This dog is still roaming in the Westminster Street/road area, seen on the 6th evidently about 8.30 am I think from what postings on spotted alvaston has said. Please people who are local try and catch him, wouldn't respond when he was called bless him. I fear for him with fireworks too.
rottie
no news i am afraid that i know of, hoping a local will manage to catch if seen
Nelsonbeagle
Is there any news about this poor dog?
rottie
Posted sighted areas this afternoon, let's hope for some news
Doglover
Hi rot tie, As you are near and hope at some point to go and search for this dog, I think I was told there are Travellers sites in the area, do you think they Re worth checking out as it may be one of their dogs??
Doglover
Hello hollieberry, firstly sorry to hear that you have been in hospital, hope all is ok. Yes, I do have a connection with this dog and was unaware why until, because of this dog I read about the dog in the RTA and followed it up with phone calls etc, which ended up I. Finding the owner. Dog 93244. It is strange how things are meN,t to happen for a reason. I am still so concerned about this dog and I think it has been abandoned. I still pray every night that it will be caught, especially as Winter is coming. Thank you for the mention. Xx
rottie
Dog scratching on doors was a different dog and now home, please any locals help needed postering will try to get over tomorrow but at work, need to get regular sightings to form a pattern for feeding station.
Hollieberry
Just got of hospital so I haven't been on the site for a while, I am shocked to see that this dog has still not been caught especially as it is firework season. To all the people at doglost you are doing a great job and Doglover who has taken this dog to heart a big thank you for caring x
mardyscot
Is the dog's collar too tight hence it walking with it's head hanging low? I hope not but just a thought :0(
Doglover
Hi Jayne, have looked at 93454 and 93467 is definitely a Staffie and not a Lurcher. Shame, as it would have been nice to get this one finally home, but I still think it has been abandoned. X
Shelagh
Do any of the people have a side gate which they cud leave open. Put food and water away from gate opening and watch. If dog enters they can close gate.

Owner of stolen Bud has just seen the photo and says very similar to her dog.

RachelJak
Admin from Spotted Alvaston has commented that as far as they are aware DW was called at 3 this morning but dog is obviouslly still on the loose
RachelJak
There has been a brown terrier reported on Spotted Alvaston as barking and scratching on some ones door at 3 this morning they reported that when they opened dog it runs away. Second about 15mins ago by a person going out. As far as I know neither of them did anything about it other than commenting on Spotted Alvaston. Is there a relief DW on duty at weekends?

rottie
Good idea but need to know if regular spot, any local help would be great as although I can poster might struggle to maintain a feeding station. Even postering better if assistance by local, will happily bring over posters. Could perhaps a couple of local helpers get in touch . Vicky xx
labradorloopy
Could you set up a feeding station by the BMX track?
Doglover
Thank you rot tie, I am 168 miles away, so unable to physically help. Xxx
rottie
main doglost number now added, please anyone local able to poster, if we can get regular sightings might be able to form a pattern and perhaps set a trap, i can come over to poster but dont know the area as approx 30 miles away, anyone who is following on facebook please could you update any info on here also, xx
Doglover
Just checked out Spotted Alvaston Facebook and someone says they have just seen this dog in Alvaston Park near the BMX track. If anyone from Alvaston is following this dog on this site, is there any chance you can have a look or chase up this siting, or get in touch with your local dog warden. Thankyou. Xx
RachelJak
Hi Doglover....I did reply to your message about green areas where this dog could be but has not appeared on here.
There are quite a few fields down Aston Lane and also I think there was a small Nature Park. It was also reported on Spotted Alvaston that dogs regularly are seen wandering around the area that could belong to "The Fairground Folk" who seem to be situated down Aston Lane. GoogleEarth gives a much more detailed picture of this area.
RachelJak
Would it be worth people in the area putting up posters....Post Office, shops, vets etc
charlie and sooty
Hi Doglover. You are welcome, glad I could help. Yes, lets hope that we can all help find the owners. Paws crossed x
sophiesuds
In respect of my earlier post about a crying dog in a house the person was advised to report it to relevant authority. Haven't heard anything unfortunately.
On the Alvaston spotted page again tonight, someone has stated that there's a dog howling in a certain street and will they shut it up! Don't know if it's this guy. Have asked them if it could be.
Doglover
Hi Charlie and Sooty, thank you for your help, hopefully between us all we can find the owners to both of these poor dogs. Xx
charlie and sooty
Alvaston face book page now updated x
charlie and sooty
Hi Doglover. Re your message 2015-10-26 18:14. Thank you very much x. I will of course update Alvaston face book, re dog in RTA, I will also copy and paste your message 27/19 15:19 to there also. Thank you again x

TO THE FOLKS OF ALVASTON WHO ARE FOLLOWING THIS DOG ON THIS SITE. ARE THERE ANY FIELDS NEARBY THAT THIS DOG MAY BE HIDING IN. ALSO ARE THERE ANY TRAVELLERS SITES NEARBY WHERE THIS DOG MAYBE. PLEASE Also check out FOUND DOG 93734 which is the one involved in the RTA on Sunday.
Doglover
Hello Shereen, As you can see from my posts , I am the one that has been phoning the Police, Kennels, Vets etc and managed to finally get a photo of the collar which was on the deceased dog, it was too late for a photo of the actual dog. I also live 168 miles away in Essex, but for some reason, this dog has really got to me and I am trying to do everything I can from a distance to try Nd find this dog and the owner of the deceased dog. I sent a photo of the collar to Spotted Alvaston this morning and it is now on their site. It is also now listed on Doglost 93734.
Shereen
Hi NickyB sorry didn't see you post last night ...I am sorry but I live in Oxfordshire...I saw post on FB and checked here and nobody had registered the dog on DL ...so done it myself. I have also seen the collar of deceaced staffy and 100% not same dog....I think this needs sharing still dogs are clever at hiding ,he must be somewhere...the more it is shared the more likely he will be found again....I hope who originally posted this on FB isn't getting too much grief as it was her child who took the photo's,and the more grief they get will discourage ever helping again.Normally I can only get online in the evenings now but due to half term is why I am posting now....The reason I registered here was in the hope that local helpers could pick up on this as I am am too far away. (see my first post ,I did say hopefully someone more local could pick up on this) :( Last edited: 2015-10-27 15:14:17 by Shereen
Doglover
Spotted Alvaston have contacted me and I have forwarded photo of collar of deceased dog to them and they will put on their website. Thank you spotted Alvaston.
NickyB
shereen could I ask you again and the the doglovers of alvaston PLEASE get together and go and search for this dog. or keep phoning dogwarden saying you have seen the dog. if you can find/and catch it (without risk of being bitten) stay with it til dog warden comes or take home and let dogwarden collect from you.

I HAVE THE PHOTO OF THE COLLAR FROM THE DOG IN THE RTA ON SUNDAY. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET IT ON THE SPOTTED ALVASTON FACEBOOK PAGE AS I AM NOT ON FACEBOOK. MY PHONE NUMBER IS 01376 326886. WE NEED TO DO AS MUCH AS WE can TO FIND OWNER OF DECEASED DOG EVEN though it is not this one. Thank you.
Doglover
Apart from emailing council, this morning I sent a message to Helen at Crowfoot Kennels via her mobile with a photo attached of our dog. She has confirmed that the dog in our photo IS NOT the one in the RTA. I have asked, if it is not too late, whether she can send a photo of deceased dog. Message just come through, it is too late for photo to be sent, but their dog had a blue collar. Therefore THIS DOG still needs to be found. Contact number for Helen at Crowfoot Kennels is 07928 014873 in case anyone needs to confirm this post. Last edited: 2015-10-27 08:36:02 by Doglover
#stoppettheft
If the poor dog can hardly walk - then how come no-one has managed to catch it ?
RachelJak
One comment that was made which seemed a bit odd was by Emily Barrie on the Spotted Alvaston page which followed on from other comments made by people about the dog/dogs being chased on Saturday was "tagging because they are following his dog too" They could be talking about the owner of the staffie that was killed.
Doglover
Hi fionap58.
Have just seen your post. No email address for Crowfoot Kennels, I have had to email environmental Heath at Council. So have done this and attached a photo of the dog. Let,s hope that I get a response from them tomorrow, but I will still phone them and see if they can get the email from the council offices. The only thing I would say in response to RachelJak is that the. collar on the dog on the photo looks brown to me and not blue.
fionap58
Could Doglost admin email a pic of this dog to the kennels before it's too late and dispose of the dog? It could be a staff with blue collar and there could be white on the other side of his chest. It really needs confirming one way or another. And it would get Doglost on the radar!
RachelJak
Admin at Spotted Alvaston spoke to one of the children who originally took these photos of this dog and she has said the dog did have white on its chest. The picture is a bit dark but the collar could be blue....Admin is convinced it could still be this dog :/
Doglover
Hi fionap58' I will phone them tomorrow and see what they say. Unfortunately, the police, two of the Vets and the Kennels had never heard of Doglost.co.uk which is such a shame, because if they had known of this site, maybe many more dogs that are not chipped would be reunited. There is a Staffie with same description as in RTA on this site number 91691. I have tried phoning number but no answer. I know the postcode does not match, but if dogs are taken they can be found anywhere. I will try again later. X
fionap58
Well done Doglover, it's very hard work just to get people to give out very simple info, like colour of dog! Could you ring the kennels and get them to take a picture of the dog, if they haven't already, to release to any potential owners that may come forward.
Doglover
Hi Charlie and sooty. I have emailed Admin at Doglost regarding putting the details of the Staffie in the RTA on the site. Jayne at Head Office is going to get one of her colleagues to get back to me regarding this. I stated in my email that I do not do Facebook, but if you do, is it possible for you to update ,spotted Alvastan Facebook site to advise that it was not this dog. Be brilliant if you could. X
charlie and sooty
Hi. Re Staffie in RTA. Would it be worth posting it on here or all Staffie sites.. Hope an owner is found for closure x
Doglover
With regards to my Brilliant News for this dog, I am also aware that the poor dog that was killed in the RTA must have belonged to someone. I have searched Staffies lost on this site and can only come up with one which is 91691 a brown Staffie, with a white chest and male. Not sure whether to contact person listing as this one went missing in September. The one killed had a blue. collar and was not microchipped. The kennels hVe asked me to phone them if I do find the owner.
Doglover
Hi NickyB Have you seen all of my updates today, looks like this poor dog is still roaming the streets.
Doglover
BRILLIANT NEWS!!!! The dog in the RTA was not this one. Crawford Kennels have just rang me back. The dog that was involved and died was a brown Staffie with a white chest and wearing a blue collar. It was not microchipped. So we must all keep looking and hope our one is found. If anyone wants to confirm this post Crowford Kennels Phone number is 07928 014873. I have telephoned 101 and spoken to south Derbyshire police. They confirmed that a dog was involved in an RTA yesterday on the A50. As I am not the owner they would not give me any information as to description of dog. They did give me the phone number of Local Council who collected the dog. Local Council have rang me back and given me the phone number of the kennels that collected the dog. I have left a message for them to phone me and am awaiting their call.
NickyB
THIS TAKES SOME BEATING....JUST PHONED 01332 640000 DOG WARDENS - THEY HAVE TWO.

THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN THE DOG WITH MY OWN EYES - ONLY ON DOGLOST SITE

THEY REFUSE TO LOOK ON THIS OR ANY OTHER WEBSITE ..............

I AM SPEECHLESS

chief exec is paul robinson, spoke to his pa Karen - who put me thro to dog wardens office...............

shereen do you live locally - l live in northwich Cheshire - sorry babe but its back to you -

could you or anyone else reading this ring dogwarden but say they have seen this dog ?

dog wardens are paid by us taxpayers to search and cstch stray dogs

shereen can you try and find dog rescuers like myself locally - who would willingly go and look for this dog. keep me posted pls

update from helper via email...
My last message was a very poor attempt to copy and paste the comments made by person who saw the rta. Although Sammi Jo Allen reported this and has since confirmed that this dog is the one in the picture there is another dog that is constantly wandering around who is said to come from the Fairground people who live down Aston Lane which would be closer to the A50. I tried to copy a photo of this other dog but cant do it. If you can check of the Spotted: Chellaston page and look through the photo section there a couple of picture of it. It could easily be mistaken as the dog everyone is looking for. If the driver who hit the dog was reported as being attending to the dog what happened to it. The dog must have been injured or even worse dead so what has he done with it. Not reported at any vets in the area so where is it. Could he possibly have left it on the side of the road or hid it from view. Maybe the dog warden collected the poor thing
DogLostFergal - Area Volunteer - Cornwall
Not sure if this will help anything, I did read the post's comments and at one point someone local said it was a dog that the owner kept in a van. Had not seen at that point anything about a dog in a house, or being beaten, so cannot comment. However, if it is kept in a van perhaps someone local could take a look and check that it is still there, then the one in the RTA would definitely be another dog.
fionap58
Apologies if I misjudged you Doglover, just going by your post.....'As for the RSPCA they seem to be all talk an no do, they are supposed to care for animals, but in my experience, never seem to put themselves out to help and I think it is disgusting !!!'...... And if they were filmed collecting strays it was almost certainly because at that point they had the time and are animal lovers but not because they had cameras present. Totally off subject and hijacking the thread I know but I wish people wouldn't bash them on sites where others can be influenced as where would we be without them. Who would you call if you saw a cruelly treated or neglected dog if there was no RSPCA? If you or I knocked on someones door accusing them of neglect or cruelty can you imagine the reaction?
I do hope this dog is found soon. Can someone ring 101 to see if there was a report and where it was?Last edited: 2015-10-26 14:17:36 by fionap58
Doglover
I have just telephoned white cross vets, Abbey vet group and Pride vets and none of them had a dog brought in yesterday that had been hit by a car. Can someone please contact spotted chellaston where it says on the spotted Alvaston site that this was originally posted. I am not on Facebook so cannot get in to find out who put the post on. Last edited: 2015-10-26 13:43:39 by Doglover
Doglover
Just checked out how far the A50 is from Alvaston and it appears it is a fair way, and for a dog that is so weak, I do not know how it made it that far.
Doglover
OH NO. I cannot believe it and I agree with Hollieberry, so many chances lost in saving this dog, if it is the same dog. Can someone please find out?
Hollieberry
Jayne-admin is it possible that you could ring the police to see if an RTA has been reported ?
Hollieberry
OMG it gets worse for this poor dog ,all these chances of getting the dog so far have been wasted.I am speechless !
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
email from a helper...
There have been reports yesterday that this dog was hit by a car on the A50 yesterday. No one seems to know how the dog is dead or alive or even where he is now. Apparently police were informed that a dog was wandering on the A50 not sure whether this was before or after the accident. Whatever has happened to this poor dog it does not look good :(

Chilebat
Does anyone know if this dog has been seen today or if the dog in distress has been heard today? Have been on the facebook page and can't seem to see any updates for today but might be reading it wrong!
Doglover
Fionap58' Can I just get one thing straight, I am not an RSPCA Hater.... I was just going by the Alan Davies TV Programme that followed the RSPCA and not only did they of course cover the cruelty aspects, they also collected stray dogs from the streets and that is all I know about them, apart from when I phoned about a dog in distress at a bedroom window and they were not interested. They stated I would have to see inside the house to see if it was being neglected, how was I suppose to do that!!! So please do not class me as a Hater of this establishment. And I agree with Hollieberry, this dog appears to have been abandoned and I hope they find the people that did it.
Hollieberry
In my own personal opinion I do not think the dog in the picture is the same dog that people are hearing in a house. The dog above walks with a look of sheer dejection almost as if it dosent care any more but as I said that's my opinion. We can not blame people for trying to do their best in their jobs we can only blame the people who put dogs in this situation.
fionap58
As usual the RSPCA haters are out! They are NOT responsible for catching stray dogs. Imagine the fuss if donations were spent on getting inspectors to walk round for hours on end looking for strays while cruelty cases went unchecked. It's the dog wardens job and it's what they are paid to do, and even they don't have to actively go out looking. If the dozens of people who are looking for it can't find it how would one inspector or warden find it? Blame the owner solely for this one.
Doglover
Hi NickyB, we know RSPCA are not Dog Wardens, but surely, if they have been made aware that there is an injured dog, which this one is if you look at it,s front leg, then it must be in their Duty of care to try and find this injured animal and get it help. Also if someone has heard a dog in pain, in a house, I a street, then I cannot understand why this has not yet been reported to either RSPCA or Animal Welfare. I wish you luck with Derby Council tomorrow, I had no luck with them when I telephoned, but maybe as you are in the area, you might be listened to. Has anyone thought about contacting the LOCAL RADIO STATION and making an appeal for this dog and also the one in pain in the "house". It could be the same dog, but I do not think so, I think this one has been abandoned. Good luck anyway and look forward to your posts on this site. X
NickyB
just reading all the mssgs now - if someone localy believes the dog is being beaten in a house then what i have done in the -past rang police saying i could hear terrible screams from the property NOT letting on it was dog.police should respond if they believe victim is human...... police know by now humans and animals are victims at same property
NickyB
having done animal rescue for 20 years it is NOT RSPCA job to act as dog wardens - they are continually overwhelmed with cruelty cases. dog wardens are paid for by us tax payers to catch stray dogs.

I succeeded in getting the council to send someone out to collect an abandoned hamster - honestly - left in a house where police had arrested occupants. I did say if they did not act I would ring the daily mirror.

tomorrow I will ask to speak to derby council chief exec - but what happens you speak to their pa - and in the past have succeeded in getting them to get the mssg through to - in this case - dog warden.

i will leave mssg on here with result of my phone calls - to chief and dog warden office

Doglover
Hello RachelJak, If you have read my comments, you will see that I live 168 miles away, so unable to physically help. I have looked at Streetmap for your area this morning and it seems that sightings in Warren Street, Radford Street and Baker Street are all in the same area, so I think the dog must be somewhere around there. As for the RSPCA they seem to be all talk an no do, they are supposed to care for animals, but in my experience, never seem to put themselves out to help and I think it is disgusting !!! I have watched their programmes on TV, but that must just be for the TV as I told them once when I phoned about a distressed dog. Unbelievable. The dog has a collar on so must have belonged to someone at some point and I think it has been abandoned, poor thing. I will keep praying that good news will come soon. Great that the people of Alvaston are so good in looking for this poor little dog. Thankyou.
RachelJak
The lady who handed the dog to the Dog Warden has confirmed that it is NOT the dog in the picture. Sorry to say this poor dog is still on the loose
RachelJak
People have said that this dog was reported several times to RSPCA but without them knowing the exact number of the property they wont come out. Some one must know whoes dog this is but maybe just don't wont to get involved or maybe friends of this dogs owner. I did ring RSPCA to check on what they said to me and a pretty much tallied up with what the others said
Shereen
Thank you all ...just logge on but on the fb page so many posts to read through that I nee to look tomorrow to see what is going on exactly...also the dog that was maybe handed in ...we can't find out until Monday with that one. :(
Doglover
Hi hollieberry, I see you are following this dog as much as I am. It is so frustrating that I love 168 miles away and therefore unable to physically help in the search for this poor dog. I do not do Facebook, but googled Spotted Alvaston as it ha been mentioned in previous posts and can see that there are lots of local people searching for this dog, which is very re-assuring. Am praying we hear some good news soon. X

On a post further down it says the dog was seen again at 1-30 today. Yes I agree with doglover if someone can hear a dog in pain then the RSPCA should be called.
Doglover
Hi sophiesuds, the person that has heard a dog in pain in a house should be phoning the RSPCA to investigate to ensure that the dog is not going through any cruelty or neglect. And hopefully the DOg Watden can be telephoned on Monday and we can all find out if the dog handed in, is the one on this site. So reassuring that so many people care about this poor dog with no name. X
sophiesuds
The ohoto was taken by a child on their way to school and that's why they didn't catch it etc but told an adult about it, but of course it had gone by then. Secondly there is also on the Spotted Alvaston page mention of a dog that can be heard as if it's in pain in a street near Baker Street but it's in a house. Someone has been running around the area trying to locate the dog in pain to help it and also to see if it is the same dog. Unfortunately neither have so far been located. Evidently the dog that sounds unhappy is heard quite often so hopefully it will be found before much longer!

It would appear that some one has posted on one of the threads on the Spotted Alvaston fb page that they found and handed a dog similar to this one to the Dog Warden a couple of days ago. They cannot absolutely confirm that it is this dog. The whole thing is getting so confusing as people were out searching today after several reports of sightings of this dog together with another dog also missing in the same area. I think this needs checking out with Dog Warden on Monday to confirm if it is this dog or brown staffie which is also being sighted
Doglover
Nickyb if you look down at my posts, I did phone Derby City Council and they told me that the Dog Warden will not go out unless the dog is contained, they will not actually go out and look for it, so annoying because in my area, the dog wardens will go out and look. Also rang White Cross Vets who are aware of this dog and they also told me that the Dog Warden had been contacted and the same answer was given. Absolutely disgusting if you ask me. I don,t think the RSPCA would help either as they will want to know where the dog is as well. The Vets did say that people around Alvastan are aware of this dog and will be keeping a lookout for it. I am praying all the time he/she is found safe. X
Hollieberry
Its so annoying that dog wardens do not work weekends ,thank you Shereen & NickyB x
NickyB
shereen just rang Derbyshire council dog warden 0333 2006981 press 4 then press 1 but its out of hours so kennels answer.if dog contained they will go and get it. on Monday I will ring council. and I will ring chief executive of derby adam Wilkinson and make him aware this dog has been seen since 20 October and to date I understood dog wardens have failed either to come or or failed to find and catch it. I have emailed customerservices@derby.gov.uk.

My heart really goes out to this poor dog ,just wandering around cold hungry & possibly injured. No wonder he looks so sad.Hoping someone can get him soon .
Doglover
Charlie and Sooty, at least you tried. Perhaps if you see him again, you could try and coax him to you with some food. I am just so worried about this dog. X
Hollieberry
Has this latest sighting been reported to dog warden or do they not work weekends .This poor dog desperately needs help.
charlie and sooty
posted on face book today 24/10 at appx 13:00 (Possible sighting ****It look like the one at the beginning of the week, it was gingery coloured, really skinny. He seem so scared, we tried to coax him towards us but he just kept going and we lost him back at the coop again on Crayford Road).
Doglover
Just to let you know, whoever is following this dog, I have just telephoned White Cross Vets in Alvastan. They are aware of this dog and there are lots of local people out looking for it. The lady told me that the Dog Warden has also been notified, but until someone tells them where it actually is, they are unable to do anything. So EVERYONE let us all get our positive thoughts together and prayers, and pray that this poor dog is spotted again soon and taken to either the Vets, who are waiting for it, or the Dog Warden.
Doglover
WHY OH WHY did the people who saw this poor dog not do anything and also the person that took the photos!!!! Beggars belief. I am so worried about this poor dog and frustrated that due to distance, I am unable to do anything.
Doglover
I have telephoned Derby City Council and the nice lady was trying to get me through to someone, but unsuccessfully. They have taken my phone number and promised that someone will call me back. The Breed on Doglost is down as unknown. I have owned and still have Staffordshire Bull Terrier and I think this Dog is that Breed. Last edited: 2015-10-23 15:36:26 by Doglover

That's nice of you Mel-hope you manage to find the poor dog and get him somewhere safe.
Chilebat
Good to hear that you will do that Mel, let us know how it goes x
Mel
No, I think something wrong with his leg. Poor baby, nights are getting cold and needs a warm cosy home. I don't live too far from Alvaston, will go for a walk round that area. Hope this sad doggie is soon getting the love and care he deserves. Xxx
Hollieberry
Some of the people that saw the dog said it had a broken leg, now that the picture is a front view the leg just dosent look right. I think the dog has probably gone to ground now
Chilebat
Just had a look at their Facebook page to see if any new updates about the dog and nothing, really hope people are still looking or trying to find out where this dog lives and may have returned to, as the dog didn't look well in the pictures. Can the Doglost members in that postcode area not be alerted like when a dog is in the Lost section?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Sadly wardens wont come out until a dog has been "secured" have marked for the attention of the local petsearch organization to see if they can help.
Doglover
ADMIN. I have googled Alvasaton, it is in Derby, I live in Essex. Can someone on the Admin Team from Doglost, please phone the Dog Wardens in Derby to get this poor little dog rescued before something Terrible happens to it. PLEASE???
Carol
it sure does deserve a lovely home and love xxx
Doglover
I do hope you are right Chilebat. I do not do Facebook and live nowhere near this dog is, but I am praying that someone, somewhere, will find it and get it in the warm and fed. Xx
Chilebat
Now seems to be more than one post about this dog on the Alvaston Facebook page and confusing. From what I can make out local people thought they knew where the dog lived but that dog has been seen at home and is healthy. The roaming dog has not been seen for a while and on another post someone is saying they can hear a dog in distress in a garden, people are asking if this could be the same dog. Reading the posts it does look like people are trying to find this dog and help it,
Carol
Can someone call a warden or give this dog some food and shelter I wish I live near , it's vulnerable and poorly xx
Carol
pick this dog up someone even a dog warden for gods sake , u are close enough to get photos x
slabcabbage
this poor dog needs a warm bed and lots of good food,
think he must be easy to catch as he is finding it so hard to walk.
please someone save him
Hollieberry
I totally agree with Doglover
Doglover
Why has no one caught this poor dog and at least taken it to Kennels where it will be safe, warm and fed!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable.

There is a better picture of the dog now on the spotted Alvaston Facebook page. I can't work out how to share it here but if I do, I will! No sign yet as far as I can see.
Pet SearchersJan.Petsearchuk
I've shared this on my facebook page, some of my friends live in Derby. Hopefully someone will capture it, but from what I read it looks like it is a regular ''on the street'' dog?
Hollieberry
Fergal unfortunately the dog was seen by passers by also according to the messages on FB .Such a shame when it could have been helped it has probably gone to ground now .It does appear to have an injured leg poor thing. At least the children alerted someone.
DogLostFergal - Area Volunteer - Cornwall
Sorry Admin, sent you an email as this was pm'd to me tonight as a screenshot. I looked up Alvaston's postcode and it says DE2, I think Alvaston Rd is DE24, anyway couldn't see it as a lost.
Hollieberry, from the comments it was apparently children on their way to school who alerted their mother who alerted RSPCA. No shame there, but other's must have seen it.

Shame on the people who saw this dog and did nothing to help it !
Jot cotswolds
The spotted alvaston page on facebook is open to view. A poster thinks it might be a dog which they often see locked in a van overnight..owner may not be in a condition to care for it but rspca have previously said that as it has "shelter" they cannot steo in. I would say they need to step in right away as this dogs lfe is in danger. Local urgent pressure is needed to get the dog taken off the street urgently
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
There are updates on Spotted Alvaston that suggest it may be a local staffy cross. Hoping someone can catch & take care of it very soon x
labradorloopy
Could the local dog lost coordinator for this area be contacted? This dog looks like let's in trouble and needs help. Poor soul.
charlie and sooty
Shared in case anyone in the area x
RachelJak
I have reported to Dog Warden and although they won't send any one out specifically to help look for this dog they have asked that any confirmed sighting be reported directly to them on 01332 293111 and they will then arrange to pick it up.

I have read through all the many comments on FB Spotted Alvaston. Sounds like it really needs help asap x

Oh no, not near me at all unfortunately, hoping someone has now found this dog or is out looking for it as looks like it needs medical care
Hollieberry
Is there anyone in this area that can help this dog ?
Shereen
