Oh Bustle, we are so sad that we weren't able to get to know you better and that you weren't able to be a member of our family for many years to come. We hope you are now at peace. This is just so sad. I've been laid up with a bad leg for just over a week, but had planned on joining the search this afternoon. Such a shame that the person on the golf course wasn't able to get a hold of him. R.I.P darling Bustle. My boys will be waiting to play with you at Rainbow Bridge xx

I am so sad to hear the news that poor Bustle (formerly Buster ) lost his life when he had just found such a loving home. Why he behaved in such a frightened way will always remain a mystery to me. Happiness was not meant to be for him. Rest in peace my big boy and wait for us behind the rainbow bridge.

Very sad to report that dear Bustle was a victim of the railways yesterday. I am absolutely gutted for Louise and Nigel and their lovely son Matthew for their sad loss. Both the owners and I are just too upset at the moment to write anything but on behalf of them I would like to say thank you to you all who tried so desperately to find him. My very grateful thanks to both Martin and Dean from Network Rail who have given up their day off to collect Bustle who can now be laid to rest with his previous owner. xx
ClaireC
Just waiting on some further information which I will now not receive until approx. lunchtime(ish). In the meantime do please continue to look for Bustle when you are out and about in the Fairford Leys/Walton Court/Southcourt/Stoke Mandeville area. Apologies I cannot give any exact specific area. Thank you all for your help. xLast edited: 2015-08-19 09:27:28 by ClaireC

I could help search tomorrow too. Will be at work until 4pm, but free any time after then. I will also put some posters up at work (County Hall) so even more people will be made aware of Bustle and hopefully that will generate more sightings x

Have spoken to Liam again and talked him through printing off the posters. Thank you Liam for being so helpful, he has also noted all the contact numbers.
LindaT
I Have just phoned Hartwell House which is a Hotel,Spa & Restaurant owned by National Trust, and is next to Fairford Lees Golf Course, Liam says they would keep look out and he will alert guests and staff; he is also going to try to print out posters. Claire ... the mobile number you have listed in your post on 16th has one number too many but if you ring the hotel and speak to Liam he will take note of it : Tel. Hartwell House, 01296 747444 SORRY CLAIRE I`ve just re-read your mobile number and I think that must be correct so will ring Liam back and give it to him :-) Last edited: 2015-08-18 07:20:22 by LindaT

Unfortunately no sightings again last night over the Walton Court area. Please keep reporting any sightings of him and we will go out. If you can give us the road name or landmark and approx. time then that would also be good. If anybody goes out with their dog perhaps take a few extra treats and a spare slip lead (even though he does have his lead attached but that would be behind him and may run off if somebody automatically puts their hand over his head to get it - its a fear thing with most stray/lost dogs!)) that again would help. Very grateful thanks to you all.
Louise Quail
A huge thanks to everyone again especially Claire for all their help. No new sightings since Walton Court but somebody has just phoned up to say about the sighting on the Golf course to say that Bustle looked well and very nearly went up to him but the mower apparently frightened him off. We are going back to Walton Court area in about an hour to see if he is on the move again. Many thanks.
ClaireC
Hi Linda have done all those good suggestions this afternoon to receive calls that he is in opp direction!!! However thank you so muchxx
ClaireC
I have just come back home but Louise is at latest sighting somewhebre on Walton Court.. Bustle seems now to be alternating between Fairford Leys and Walton Court. He could head towards Southcourt and he still does have his lead attached. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT chase after him as he is running scared. If you are anywhere near him and maybe can gain access to a front garden and encourage him in with food that would be a more sensible suggestion. He may go to someone who is taking their dog out for walk as possibility. I will head back to Walton Court later on. If any further sightings please phone any of us. Thank you all once again for your help.Last edited: 2015-08-17 17:57:55 by ClaireC

I walked @ Coombe Hill this a.m. with binoculars, spare lead & smelly treats, saw nothing that looked like a black dog in the fields below monument or Bacombe Hill.Spoke to a few people who promised to keep look out,one lady lives in Bedgrove & her daughter walks her dog there & they will keep look out & pass word on. Louise .. Coombe Hill car park is the National Trust site above Chequers estate, where the monument stands. Access via Ellesborough crossroad then follow sign for Dunsmore. Askett nursey is very dog friendly, near Great Kimble, towards Risborough tel 01844 274635 They may be able to put up a poster and they get customers from a wide area. If I can I will call in there this afternoon & alert them but I have no printer to take a poster myself.

My daughter will be coming home from work that way this afternoon, so will ask her to keep her eyes peeled x

Have asked admin if it is possible to twitter this lovely boy.

Hi Linda thank you but have spoken with goat centre and they are displaying a poster. Care home will be notified today and likewise the vets. Thanks for reminding me of name I think Louise was googling their name last night. All the dog wardens in areas will be contacted and likewise doglost card as we had run out of posters with details of the missing boy is up in car park at Ellesborough. Poster outside Russel Arms on telegraph pole. Just hope that he has turned himself in to someone and that they are waiting for DW/vets to open! I will go up to Ellesborough Golf Club today and make them aware. Any others with suggestions of areas will be much appreciated. On behalf of his lovely family thank you to all those for keeping a lookout.Last edited: 2015-08-17 08:06:22 by ClaireC

Will phone vets in Princes Risborough and also Care Home along road Risborough Road, Stoke Mandeville. Good idea about Coombe Hill (that is he car park opposite the Church you mean) will put up a poster there. Very many thanks to all of you for helping especially Claire who spent a long time with us yesterday. Also going to phone Chiltern, Wycombe dog wardens just in case.
LindaT
The vet practice in Risborough is Sprinz & Nash; 01844 345655; also worth contacting the Goat Centre which is along the Risborough Road a little way along opposite the Woolpack pub; I think it would be worth putting posters at Coombe Hill car park (Butlers Cross) as a lot of dog-walkers and visitors go there all through the day and they may spot Bustle on route. I will keep a look-out when I am in that area, unfortunately I no longer have a working printer but am happy to pick up some posters to place in those locations. I do hope this poor dog can be picked up very soon, he must be so confused.
ClaireC
Will do Denise and thanks xx
ClaireC
Louise/ Nigel there is a vet practice in Princes risborough whose name I can't think of. Could be worth googling them and foning to make them aware that Bustle may just have headed in their direction. I will also ask friend who owns a shop in Risborough to keep a lookout when he goes to work and then on local deliveries.
denise
So sorry to see your dog is missing and just got from Dog rescue centre! Perhaps a search party could be organised when the next sighting gets reported. Claire just ring me.
ClaireC
Another reason for early morn sightings could be because it's cooler at that time and may just be resting later in the day!
ClaireC
Last possible/credible sighting was that at 0730 hrs this morn 2 guys from Highway Maintenance working at Stoke Mandeville saw him heading towards the Risborough Rd which leads enroute to The Chequers (PM Estate) (is he a Volunteer!!). It could be that when he got to the top of Risborough Rd from direction of Stoke he could have gone either left, right or straight on. Ive spoken to a few farmers along this route who are out harvesting and will keep an eye open and they have been given Doglost Tel no.At least if the info given by the Highways guys does mean he is safely off the railway tracks.Don't think he has a triangle but simply lost and just hope he "turns" himself in to someone through their garden for food or water and the owners receive that very important call. Always at the end of the phone if there are any further sightings and indeed the owners are. Please keep looking for this boy.

Tx Sam....will let owner and Claire know...Tx Majorjet for letting HQ know about this new post.
Sam
Odd story but I hope I can help. My name is Sam and I'm a train driver at Chiltern Railways. Whilst driving yesterday at about 12 mid-day I was advised by the signaller that there was a dog on the line ahead, near Stoke Madeville station, so I was to proceed at caution. I saw the dog down the side of the tracks, I can't say for sure that this was your dog as I only saw it for a second, but it was black and about Labrador size. There was a Network Rail guy looking for the dog so I stopped and told him where the dog was, not sure if he caught it though. My advise would be to call Chiltern Railways Customer Services (03456 005 165 but only mon-fri) and ask for information, hopefully they can help. Hope you find Bustle. You have an adventurous dog.
ClaireC
Also notify the pub on Bedgrove and ask if they will display a poster. Just in case anybody finds Bustle and tries to sell him on quickly!
ClaireC
Just made contact with owner. Bustle is chipped but with European chip and Petlog are aware. He does/did still have his green lead on when he bolted off. Owner will make contact with other surrounding Dog Wardens. Hope to meet up with owner later this morning for a search of the area. If there are others who would like to meet up and help search please make contact with me on 07887652916. If I am driving I will get back to you. Thank you.Last edited: 2015-08-16 09:14:52 by ClaireC
ClaireC
Further thoughts but ask the shops on Bedgrove to display a poster. No good putting them on the post up there as they get removed before you can turn your back by council person! Shops such as Budgens, fish chip shop Martins newsagents. Butchers.petrol station.Last edited: 2015-08-16 08:55:57 by ClaireC
ClaireC
There is also a small stream on Bedgrove that he would head for.

Comments on facebook from a local person that she feels he could be holed up in fields along canal. Plenty of shelter there apparently..

A friend of mine lives on Ambleside. I've just messaged her about Bustle and she'll pass the word around. Her husband walks their dogs in the park early in the mornings, so will take a spare lead and treats just incase x
ClaireC
Louis put up posters if you are able as there are lots of dog walkers there. If you would like me to meet up with you tomorrow Sun for a walk around please give me a call 07887652916.

Last sighted in Bedgrove Park, Aylesbury @ 6.30 this morning near Ambleside.

He was apparently seen by Stocklake Industry on the night he went missing. I've left a poster with local vets and Pets at Home. This isn't far from the canal, so wondered if he could be making his way along the footpath and that's why no recent sightings?
ClaireC
Please let the local DW know and also the police station in Aylesbury. Somebody may have reported him to them. Put Bustle on Mix 96 page as a lot of finders do go onto it when they have lost their pet. Also let the pub know nearby as a Lab is always looking for food I believe.
lesleyjane
Not too far from me, will share on FB.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Just going to have a drive around as very close to me. Will also let Hampden vets have a poster. He's probably holed up somewhere dry in this awful weather. Any idea where he lived before? Could he be trying to make his way back there?

Report made at BDCH. Will the chip be up to date as you only got him a few days ago?might be worth letting the rescue know where you got him from.
