  • Other Info Diesel seems to be staying in the fields surrounding great Barrow. Last seen on the banks of the Gowy about 4pm today. I had only had him for 2 hours when he ran away so he doesn't know me and he doesn't know the area. When approached he runs away so we will need to try to encourage him with food.

Has he been found? Looks like Millypod has jumped the gun a little there.

Anyway, ways to entice him. A dog bowl with smelly food like sardines or tuna would be good (don't leave the food there as it may attract other animals which in turn might scare him away). Maybe take some camping chairs and just sit there with the food near you. Chances are he will be hungry by now. Water shouldn't be an issue as there is the river gowy. Good luck!Last edited: 2015-08-09 13:37:59 by GedByrne

Thanks for your comments Gedbyrne, problem here is that Diesel does not know his new owner or her voice or smell, he was only with her for 2 hours before he bolted. We spotted him yesterday across the field and immediately knelt down and watched, we whistled quietly, he knew we were there but did not come to us. He is obviously very frightened and confused and appeared to be limping. He went through the hedge and we did not see him again yesterday, we did light a BBQ with some sausages on but to no avail. Any ideas on how to entice hom would be very welcome.

On the off chance that the Diesel is missing for an extended period... DO NOT DO what your instincts tell you! - DO NOT RUN TOWARDS THE DOG! Call "Diesel" as you normally would and walk towards (or near) and allow your scent/sound/sight etc to reach the dog. Casually approach allowing the dog to come to you too. THEN make as much fuss as you like once hooked up again.Last edited: 2015-08-07 21:39:40 by GedByrne

I was driving back from Frodsham earlier (probably about 18:15 ish) and saw a dog loose (albeit running closely to a parked car) on the A56 between Mickle Trafford and the Roundabout under the A55/M53. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2166753,-2.8393952,182m/data=!3m1!1e3

I did not see anyone near the dog which is what made it stand out in my mind. It was kinda sticking to the back of the parked car as it ran around it but it was so close to a main road that I can't imagine anyone would trust their dog so much.

It was only a flash and I drove passed it but from memory it was a medium/large sized dog that could potentially have been the right colour but I could have sworn there was slightly more of a tan colour on the back.

Fingers crossed for you! I lost my two beagles up Snowdon 18 months or so ago and it felt terrible. Both dogs were found 3 and 4 days later - both fine!!! So keep your chin up, dogs are smarter than our fears lead us to believe.
