The Gazette said to me that as they had already done an editorial they don't want to do another one BUT I have suggested to Jane that she calls them again and tells them about how, while looking for Shannon, she came across Sam and the story, obviously highlighting that Shannon is still missing. Will contact Angela at Essex again next week. All posters that J&W have put up are still there, so all in all, quite strange that no one has heard anything. Will give Network Rail another call next week (bloody hate doing those ones for obvious reasons). Will update if we hear anything.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news on Shannon - she seems to have disappeared into thin air. The pregnant bitch (Molly) was recently taken to a local rescue by the police and the RSPCA are involved now BUT THE PUPPIES HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH THE OWNER AND ARE STILL ONLY 6 WKS OLD. Makes no sense to me - they should all have gone to the rescue. Jane & Wayne went to the rescue and saw Molly and said she is now behaving really well (they have been advised not to have a puppy from the other owner). J&W went to another local rescue today and have come home with Sam!!!! He is 5 years old and his owner (who was moving and couldn't take him - once again - no comment from me) 'gifted' him to the rescue. He is settling in really well from what they tell me and is a really handsome boy form the photos. He is a Lab cross and seems very chilled bless him. They are still looking for Shannon and would love to have a reunited happy family (cats as well)! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to Wayne, Shannon's owner today. He told me that the little pregnant Jack belongs to a 'person' who lives quite near. The 'person' lets this dog out all the time and we now think that these were the various sightings that we thought were Shannon. Wayne actually had the dog at his house before finding the owner. The dog has some behavioural problems and tummy problems. He has since found the dog a couple of time (once at a neighbours). The owners said 'Don't worry -she'll come home on her own' Nice!!! Wayne pointed out that this wasn't acceptable! Owners son also takes the dog hunting rabbits ets. Owner asked Wayne & Jane if they wanted the dog. They can't because of the dogs problems as they have other animals but have brought one of the pups (not ready yet). Owner has made deal with pet shop for others. Wayne is giving owner my numbers as I will hopefully try to get the dog rehomed (using local rescues).Don't know if these 'people' want any payment for her - will have to see. I won't be offering and will make other arrangements I can't type on here if they are after a fast buck!!!! W&J spoke to police again who have told them lots of JRT's being stolen in area for 'fighting sports'. Police don't have the manpower to deal with this - WHAT'S BLOODY NEW????? We then got the news that the L&T Post Editor won't let Aline run a missing dog story (only a small paper - limited space etc). All round very disheartened today. W&G are still renewing posters and we are praying that Shannon has been taken in by someone who is looking after her and doesn't want to give her back. Don't want to think of other options at moment as Shannon is only a wee baby. Will try some more media angles next week and at the moment we are all pretty gutted!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another sighting of a similar dog in Elizabeth Close (nr Feenan Highway). Caller said that this dog is in pup. Don't think this is Shannon but very worrying as another little dog out and about on it's own AND PREGNANT!!!!. Shannon's owners went there but no sign of dog. The L&T Post will be including an article on Shannon next week (no space this week) so I'm trying to enhance the photo that owners have sent me, via mobile, as still a bit blurry. Seem to be a lot of little dogs left out on their own in this area (WHY????) which could be leading to the confusing sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another possible sighting again at the Daisy Field. According to Jane the owner, this is a big expanse but has a childrens play area etc and is quite well maintained. The dog that was seen was on it's own. Owners went there straight away but no sign.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Called owners today. They are still postering like mad but haven't had much response. I spoke to the Thurrock Gazette and they told me they did the editorial on Shannon last week. Will check with owner later as they said they had an ad. Success with the Thurrock & Lakeside Post. Spoke to a really helpful lady called Aline. She took lots of details including ones about what Dog Lost was about (Jayne-you may get a call) and asked my opinions on the rise in missing dogs, theft etc.. I have emailed her a poster and a separate photo of Shannon and she will be contacting Jane (Shannons owner) for a chat. Once again fingers crossed that we get an article. Will still be trying the radio stations too.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Editorial coverage is much better than an ad, so for the Thurrock Gazette try Ryan Goad on 01375 411503 or ryan.goad@nqe.com. The Thurrock and Lakeside post newsdesk is on 020 8517 4925 or you could try wayne.tuckfield@archant.co.uk.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Shannons owner has just called. They have had no more phone calls (not even crank calls). I said maybe if landline is on next ad in Gazette but really can't understand it. Have not heard from Radio Essex so will pm Nik for some media help. Told owner to track down person that delivers Yellow Advertiser and give them some leaflets and a small fee for a delivery with the paper. Owners have made loads of new laminated posters and will be out again today postering. They will do some more in town centre. The family are working so hard and I can't understand why there hasn't been more of a response. Owners are keeping in contact with police etc andI can't think of anyone else I can contact via fax, phone or email so any suggestions would be appreciated. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Do hope that Shannon is back home with you very soon. She is a very cute young lady with a very pretty face. Poster power seems to do the trick time and time again in helping reunite lost dogs with their families and so it sounds like Shannon's owners are doing one of THE most important things to get their girl back. Seems like Tilbury and surrounding areas will be absolutely covered in Shannon's Lost posters. It only takes the one person to see a poster and make a connection and then BINGO! Come home very soon Shannon!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to Shannon's owner to update. They have had 3 phone calls (2 number witheld) re sightings of similar dog on it's own. These were at Monarch Close-Tilbury, The Daisy Fields-Tilbury and Manor Way-Tilbury/Grays. Shannon's Dad went to check straight away but no sign. May have been hoaxes but can't take the chance. They have printed another 500 posters and will be postering today. He is going to put up loads of posters around the areas of possible sightings too. They haven't contacted street cleaning or railways so I'll do that on Monday. Also hadn't done radio so we will wait to see if the email to Angela at Essex Radio is successful. Shannon's Dad says if she's not home soon he will poster every lampost he can find in Tilbury!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've been out this evening putting up posters around Orsett Heath and part of Chadwell. Will put more up tomorrow around Chadwell. Also handed out posters to several kids in and around the Heath. One boy said he thought he'd seen her a couple of days ago - let's hope she's still in the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Titania you are doing a brilliant job. Following info is standard info I try and put on all posts and I know you have already covered a very good part of it. Poster lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie, milkmen, binmen (even put poster on bins), schools, deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Keep checking Police stations and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need also checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Shannon. Jan xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has contacted police, Gemini and had advert in Thurrock Gazette. has postered some of Tilbury town and leafleted and also given to various schools. On the day Shannon went missing (13/02) the postman and another lady thought they saw Shannon with 3 boys aged about 7, 3 and 2yrs old. They were asking people where the dog they'd found lived but were told by someone not to knock on doors as it could be dangerous. May or may not have been Shannon. Today owner had a phone call from a man to say that he walks his dog on Heathfield (I'm not familiar with the Tilbury area) and that a dog of Shannon's description has been running around there for 2-3 days. Owner has been but found nothing and man is going back to walk his dog again tonight. Have told owner that she MUST update Dog Lost on main 01302 number with any new info (OWNER DOES NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS) as helpers need the up to date info. Have told owner the normal about postering re the places and people and also told her to contact the traveller liaison officer for her area. I will contact Battersea, vets, rescues etc tomorrow but think owners may need help with more postering.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
