So happy to see Jimmy is getting back to his old happy self ;-) xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for the update LisaCooke. Expect he's not jumping up on sofa or bed because he feels a little stiff from the amount of enforced exercise he's had. Either that or he's just milking it, bless him!
Further update today:
"He's a lot better today, barking again and playing with toys, seems more energetic, just lovely to have him back!"
valpark
It is amazing how these little Yorkies survive. They are such a strong stubborn breed with loads of stamina.Anyone who has had one knows that just because they are small... a small walk will not do!!Well done Jimmy for not giving up..and indeed all who helped find him.To all who spread the word and printed posters and sent out positive energy and the lovely person that found him..thankyou from all us Jimmy watchers. As far as Billy Bear is concerned I hope he enjoyed the peace and quiet. It is now over, we are all pleased to see.x
Gina and Timi
Lovely to hear Jimmy's update.... i'm hoping he is going to write a book Jimmy's Travels :) ... I have been round and removed posters around the back of Broad Oak/and surrounding area.. In a few place i have left a note to say he has been found.... i met some lovely people along the way, all knew Jimmy was missing and over the moon to know he has been found safe and well. x

JIMMY UPDATE: Went to the vet this afternoon, where Jimmy fell asleep in the waiting room (admittedly, so did I !!). He wasn't very helpful for the vet, but has been given the all clear, not a mark on him! Overall, he's very quiet (not a peep out of him so far), quite clingy and very sleepy. Not interested in playing with his toys, but has had a "cuddle" with Billy Bear (enough said on that!). Eating little and often, happy to go for short walks on the lead. Won't jump up onto the sofa or bed at the moment, just looks at me waiting to be picked up (vet said there was nothing wrong with his legs!). Just so lovely to have him back, still can't believe it. A big huge thank you once again to all you guys and girls, couldn't have done it without you!

JIMMY's HOME!!!! After being spotted several times in the same area, I left his bed in a barn belonging to a very helpful lady and my clever boy found it, spent the night and was found curled up in his bed this morning. He seems very happy to be home, lost a little bit of weight, possible eye infection, off to the vets tomorrow. He's had a good sniff around, a big bowl of fresh water, but doesn't seem particularly hungry. A huge thank you to everybody who helped in the search, your many kind messages and the fantastic support from DogsLost, very much appreciated. We're all ecstatic to have Jimmy home, lots and lots of cuddles 😃😃

Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Happy to say that despite it being a very busy day at the pub in Margate LisaCooke has battled through the traffic to fetch Jimmy and he is now safe back at home with her.
Love it when a plan works!!! Leaving bedding and food worked out brilliantly thanks to the lovely family who helped .. they went out this morning and Jimmy was curled up on his mum's cardigan in the his bed. He let them pick him up and take him into their house for a little food and cuddles. Can't thank them enough for all their help .. well done!

Many thanks to all the people who helped by postering and searching, especially Timi, kjane85 and Zoe. SamCray1 .. you and the family did a good job too so well done.

I know it's boring but if anyone is able to take down the posters now it would be very helpful. Thank you.

Hopefully we will get a reunited photo from LisaCooke when things have settled down a little and an update on how little Jimmy is. He will be going to the vet tomorrow for a check up.

A huge THANK YOU to the Heathfield team .. together you have helped reunited another dog!!

Thanks bubblyjules. As you can see from my comments below Jimmy is not staying specificially in one place at the moment. He's still running around the area of Pottens Mill Lane and we have left the bedding and food at a property nearby where he has been seen more than once to see if we can encourage him to keep coming back there. When/if he does this then we will arrange for a trap if necessary.
I haven't been told if there are any new sightings yesterday so fingers crossed Jimmy has stuck around the area.
bubblyjules
if he is staying in the same place is there someone nearby who can lend a humane trap and try catch him that way instead of putting food down so he will be hungry to go in trap ?xx come on jimmy be good boy and let someone pick you up xxx

It's so good to get an update, even though we'd like it to be one saying ''he's found''...at least we know he's still missing and people are still looking for him. So many dogs appear on doglost and then we don't get updates so don't know whether they are still missing or not. I hope Jimmy soon lets himself be found and caught...poor scared little chap.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Sorry for late update .. went to grand daughters birthday party after searching today!
Got to Broad Oak at 1pm and met up with LisaCooke and hubby (it was his b/d too!) who came down from Margate.

First thing we heard was the news that there had been 2 new sightings mid/late this morning which was brilliant.
First we went to where bedding has been left but Jimmy had not been seen at the property today. A lovely couple there (with 2 gorgeous dogs!) who are happy to help in any way. So bedding will stay there and they have kindly put food down for Jimmy so he can have something to eat when/if he returns there. If he goes there again and makes a habit of it then it will be easier to catch him hopefully.
We then went up Pottens Mill Lane where the 2 new sightings were and put posters into all the houses up the far end. Found both people who saw Jimmy this morning .. he was on the lane, ran to the end of it but got scared when they tried to catch him and he legged it (very fast apparently) into a field. Then he was going to go into someones conservatory but spotted the lady and bolted off across the field. Again a lovely lady who had a chat with LisaCooke and reassured her that Jimmy looked fine, bit wet obviously but fine. We asked that if they see him again they should not try to catch him but watch and see which direction he goes and to ring number on the poster.
We then searched another place near where bedding is,left a poster with the owner, walked a short way up a footpath having a good look but no sign of the little lad.
However, we felt sure that Jimmy was not too far away despite his not showing himself. I suspect he was hiding again after his escapes earlier.

I saw lots of posters so well done again to everyone who put them up.
After LisaCooke left to go back to Margate I stayed and watched over the fields for a while and then went back up the lane. Met a couple of dog walkers who took a poster in case they saw Jimmy. Put a few laminated posters up in Street End Lane. Drove down and left poster with Rapkyns Nursery, Scotsford Farm and the house opposite.

We asked everyone we spoke to today not to try to catch Jimmy as we do not want to scare him off again.

I have also asked that SamCray1's family let me know as soon as there are any new sightings.
I have also asked if SamCray1 would keep a map of where Jimmy has been seen (because he's good with maps) so we can keep track of where Jimmy is going to/from and what time he is around etc.

We will have to be patient and wait to see where Jimmy shows himself again but it seems he is staying quite close to where he was lost. I think LisaCooke and the family have been reassured today that Jimmy is doing ok for now and at least they know he is fit enough to run away very quickly!

I have spoken to Jimmy's owner LisaCooke and I will meet with her tomorrow when she is coming down to see if he is around. Keeping fingers crossed that he will go to his bedding and stay there as it is going to be a wet night and a wet day tomorrow!
LisaCooke is going to ask the people who saw Jimmy and who very kindly allowed them to leave bedding on their property not to call or try to catch Jimmy but just to watch and see where he goes to and from if he appears.

I know it's hard not to go and try to see where he is but I promise that this is the best plan!
We really must be sure not to scare him away from where he has been, which is very close to where he was lost.
Clever little lad seems to be doing ok and with some luck we will be able to get him home soon.

Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Delighted to say that I have just got message from Jimmy's owner (in Margate)

"Jimmy was spotted several times yesterday, last time 8pm, in private lane down Pottens Mill Lane, Broad Oak. There are some outbuildings there, we've left his bed and food in a barn at the place last spotted. The people try to call him/catch him, he just runs away"

Sooo .. PLEASE DO NOT go and try to catch Jimmy. It's important that he is not scared off from the area. Great that the bedding has been left there and that hopefully will mean that he will go to it and settle down a bit until owner comes down tomorrow to see if he will come to her. I have sent Doglost advice again re catching a scared dog. Last edited: 2015-04-02 15:22:37 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Well done and thanks Timi. You're a star!

I am surprised that there have been no more sightings of Jimmy.
It makes me think that perhaps someone has picked him up and not reported it to the Dog Wardens. (Although I could be wrong and he may just be lying low in someone's outbuildings or in the woods near where he was lost or last seen)

Some people do not realize it required by law to do this .. and if not reported they are committting theft by finding.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE JIMMY IS?
If anyone is aware of someone suddenly getting a Yorkshire Terrier or knows where Jimmy is PLEASE let owners know or contact Doglost in complete CONFIDENCE on 0844 800 3220. Thank you.

Thanks LisaCooke: Not sure how much more Jenny could do as there have been no new sightings since she was last here.
Remember to keep renewing the scent articles (bedding/unwashed socks/tshirts) so the familiar scent is fresh. The places where these have been left need to be checked twice a day in case Jimmy has returned to them.

Again I must say it is very important to keep double checking the rescue centres in case he is handed in to them.
Might be an idea to contact the local Highways Dept as well although we're all hoping Jimmy would have stayed away from the roads.
Hopefully Samcray1 and family will be able to carry on searching over Easter weekend and holidays.
Samccray1 Please keep us updated as to what and where you have searched so your helpers know what is going on.
Just don't give up!

Thanks again to all who are helping find Jimmy.
Gina and Timi
Just to say i walked the fields and woods up to Olives Farm and Chatsworth Farm and have put a letter and poster in the boxes asking them to check out buildings.
kjane85
Hi Timi, just looked up Chatsworth Farm House, it looks like it is situated on 265 between Scotsford Rd and Swife Lane, down a long drive it backs on to woodland Jimmy went missing in. Sorry to see no more sightings despite your valiant efforts.
Gina and Timi
Just read back i remember seeing a big house in the forest i will walk to it tomorrow and put flyer in letterbox.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Abbalish. Timi: thanks for trying to find it. Jenny mentioned Chatsworth farm in her post on 25th March. Sounds as though it is near to where Jimmy first went missing so have a look to see if you know where she means! Sorry but I do not know the area myself.
I sent emails with photo of Jimmy to loads of vets in the South East yesterday .. several actually replied too. Don't guarantee I have told all of them as there are so many but I do feel it's important for Jimmy's family to contact them and the rescue centres regularly. I assume no sightings have come in as I have not heard anything from the family.

Well done LisaCooke..I know how long it takes but it's definitely worth doing in case Jimmy has been found and handed in. Please make sure that the places where bedding/clothes has been put down ae checked twice a day if possible .. first and last light in case Jimmy has found them and stayed there.

LisaCooke: Jenny and Tiga have already tracked Jimmy (see comment below on 25th March) and she did say that she was happy to come and do so again if any new sightings.
I'm hoping that if there is any news/updates that Samcray1 will let us know as soon as possible.

kjane85 .. that's good advice. I thought that Samcray1 would have done that already. Maybe you would let us know if you did Samcray1.Last edited: 2015-03-30 22:06:57 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Just a though Lisa, maybe you should go back to the area the search/tracker lost the scent at Chatsworth Farmhouse. Has anyone from family been back there and spoken to them. Perhaps Jimmy is holed up in an out building. I know Jenny tried intercom but no answer. All the best, Kate

LisaCooke
Quick update! I've spent several hours emailing and messaging rescue centres, vets, dog wardens, police, kennels - even a cattery and horse rescue centres! We've also asked everybody we know to reshare Jimmy's details on Facebook and smelly clothing is littering the countryside! If anybody's got a dog capable of sniffing him out, please contact us on the listed phone numbers. Thanks again for all your continued support and help, so appreciated xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Well done LisaCooke: not a good day to search weather wise as Jimmy is likely to be holed up keeping himself warm and out of the wind and rain. When searching in these conditions it's important to look under hedges, bushes, in outbuildings, garages etc .. anywhere that he could curl up and hide.
Have the farms / stables (especially in the Old Heathfield area) been made aware? Maybe he has found a place in a barn or outbuildings to sleep/hide in?

I am a bit surprised there have not been any new sightings from all the posters that have been put up. It's possible that someone has picked Jimmy up and not reported this to the Dog Wardens. However, not everyone knows that they work 24/7.
Because Jimmy is not microchipped it is very, very important that you check with all the rescue centres in your and the surrounding areas (you can google them to get contact details) on a very regular basis. Hopefully you have already emailed them with Jimmy's details and a photo.
As you are probably aware it is legal for them to rehome any found dogs after they have had them in their care for 7 days. As Jimmy was seen on Monday then there is no danger of that yet, but you should be in touch with them anyway.
Vets should again be contacted to remind them that Jimmy's still missing.

LisaCooke Do not give up! There is no guarantee that Jimmy has been picked up and dogs are much more resilient than most people realise besides he's a terrier so should be able to look after himself.
He may, however, only be coming out at first and last light to find food etc .. this happens when a dog has been lost for a while altho not always.

Have you left bedding/smelly clothes in the area near where he was seen at Samcray1's school like I suggested? If not please do so .. it's a good time to do it now as no children around for the holidays.
You will have to check on it regularly to see if Jimmy has come back to it. As it is a familiar scent to him he may just stay there so is well worth doing.

Hopefully we will get a sighting from the posters very soon and or hear that he has been found. Good luck.

PS Please ask all your friends to share Jimmy's Doglost page on Facebook (just click on the F symbol at top of this page) I also tweeted for a while the other night and if anyone else uses Twitter please do the same. It all helps. Last edited: 2015-03-29 22:21:25 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Hi Lisa sorry you have no news, did anyone leaflet drop Old Heathfield at the weekend? Kate
LisaCooke
STILL MISSING 😞😞😞 I drove up from Margate today and we've looked all over, concentrating on the Old Heathfield area, but also another hour in the woods where he went missing, no joy I'm afraid. Saw loads of posters and updated all dog walkers/public we came in contact with. There hasn't been a new sighting for quite a few days now, so we are somewhat dispirited and starting to lose hope, although we know it's only been a week today since Jimmy ran off. Just want the little fella home, missing him like crazy and so worried - the weather isn't being particularly kind at the moment. Again, many thanks for all your help, can only appeal to you once again and ask that we all keep looking. x
LisaCooke
Timi - looks just like Jimmy, but jimmy was only groomed 8 days ago, so coat is short now.
Gina and Timi
Sam can you have a look at this Link please.. its a long shot but need you to check http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/112804571/3-year-old-male-yorkshire-terrier.html

Any updates today Sam or Lisa??

Wow, that's fantastic work from you all. Well done Zoe, Timi and kjane85
Just a couple of things to mention .. bear in mind that if it's wet and windy Jimmy is likely to be holed up somewhere in a sheltered place so not the best time to go searching although it does mean footprints can be seen in the soft ground.

Samcray1 and family: Please make sure that the 2 telephone numbers on here and the posters are manned at all times in case of new sightings .. if you get any please make sure to letbvme know straight away. I can then add info to this page and 'bump'it.
Timi: I am in contact with Cathy regularly as she is our local DW (who does a great job!) so I know the DW's were aware fm early on (in fact Jimmy's bn registered on there twice)
Got everything crossed that today is the day Jimmy comes home.

Love the poster fairy comment Zoe... Timi you have done Jimmy proud. Now we just need him to pop his head above the turret and we will all sleep sounder.

PS i spoke to Cathy working with the local dog warden team, fearful he should somehow find himself there without a chip and she assured me they are on high alert for him x

i'm finding some amazing dog walks and Timi loves them we just need Jimmy to join him come on boy sending positive vibes x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Timi - it sounds like I've just done a similar route to you - I walked through the church yard and out to Punnets Town and Cade street. Stopped any dog walkers I saw and also saw a lady driving out of a stables so collared her as well as he could be taking shelter in a barn/stable/outbuilding. Saw loads of posters. Drove back along the park wall to get home and it looked like the poster fairy had been out along there as well so huge credit to you:-). Hopefully, with more posters up there may be a few more sightings now? Has anyone walked through Tottingworth ? Think there a public footpath through there? That could be a route that Jimmy might take to try to get back to Broad Oak?
kjane85
Just delivered some flyers to Sam for door drops his parents are home now which is great news. Did drop a few into letterbox's between Vines Cross and Old Heathfield also spoke to chap walking his dog who walks through Old Heathfield four times a day...he has leaflet should he see Jimmy he has numbers to phone. It's a bit of a waiting game now for someone to say they have seen him. Take care all.

I have just been for a walk around old Heathfield church graveyard and fields adjoining. Postering through old Heathfield and Cade Street all other streets from there the houses are a bit remote and i have tried to poster outside them so possibly the houses in Old Heathfield might be a good bet for flyers. Plz god we hear something sori appears to have come up twice :(Last edited: 2015-03-27 17:58:10 by Gina and Timi

Hi Kate - I'm finishing work shortly but have got to go home via Crowborough as I'm doing the feedstation for Rennie today. Realistically, I won't be back in Heathfield until probably 5.30 but could meet you then for an hour or so if you want. I won't be on line now until later - my mobile number is 07768 217008 if you want to call or text me if its an option to meet up? I agree that Nettlesworth is quite a way down but its five days since the last sighting so I guess he could have moved on a bit but I still think he's more likely to be holed up somewhere. x
LisaCooke
Of course my Jimmy's famous, look at what a cutie he is! We are keeping our spirits up back here in Margate by imagining him roaming around with a little bandana on his head, a new bachelor pad out in the woods and thoroughly enjoying his little adventure!!! As you say, everybody being at home at the weekend will hopefully bring more sightings, I'm coming down on Sunday so would be good to narrow down where I should take a look, not sure how I managed the fields/woods on Monday what with having MS and walking with a cane, but whatever it takes! Fingers and toes still crossed and, as always, thanks everybody - I'm so touched with all your efforts x
kjane85
By the way Timi I saw the posters around Rushlake Green Jimmy must be the most famous Yorkie in East Sussex. Well done.
kjane85
Zoe I have run some flyers to put through doors I am free at 4.30 can meet by Secondary School and do some house drops if you are free. Nettlesworth seems a long way down....but happy to do whatever is best. Maybe Sam or Timi can say where would be best. Kate
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Timi - you are doing an amazing job - really well done:-) So Jimmy wasn't actually sighted in Nettlesworth Lane? Are you talking about the primary school or secondary school? Sorry to bombard you with questions but just wanted to get clear in my head where it was and where he might be hiding out? Again, lots of footpaths etc. I wonder if its worth leafleting the houses in Cade Street (if it was the secondary school) and Old Heathfield (if the sighting was near the primary school). He could have headed down behind the church etc- that footpath brings you back out in Punnets Town. We just need another sighting:-(
Gina and Timi
I have some posters still if anyone needs them.
Gina and Timi
Just got back i have postered Old Heathfield, Cade Street to Chapel Cross, Rushlake Green, Warbleton, Furnace Lane, Vines Cross and up Nettlesworth Lane fingers crossed this weekend when everyone home someone will come forward with some news. Kate i believe he was in the road and went through hedge back into field nr one of the cottages just after the school as you head to nettlesworth Lane.
kjane85
You are most welcome Lisa, we are all dog lovers and understand how you feel. Take care, Kate x

Again, your support and help is overwhelming, thank you so much. I know samcray1 is doing his best, just upsetting that I'm back home in Margate and can't help, but I'm coming back at the weekend for what it's worth! If you've incurred costs please let Clarkey know and I will sort out reimbursement, you're all stars and I don't want any of you out of pocket, you're all doing more than I ever expected! fingers crossed we find my little guy soon x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I'm not going to be able to get away early today unfortunately so won't be able to come out to help. I've got a family do this afternoon so by the time I got to Heathfield I would have to come back again.
When I spoke to Samcray1 he said that Jimmy had been seen behind his school. Not sure where in the lane but he mentioned a farm down there. Would be worth ringing on landline number above to find out. I will be thinking of you and hoping for a new sighting soon. Fingers crossed. I noticed the extra posters on the A265 this morning when I drove to work so well done whoever did that. Kate - I was going to ask the same question as there is a footpath that goes off to Warbleton from Nettlesworth Lane so that could be another option.
kjane85
Fantastic..Timi when he was sighted was it on the fields or along the road itself? Kate
Gina and Timi
I shall be out this morning adding to the posters we got out last night we postered all through Nettlesworth Lane to Vines Cross including the pub there i will continue to cover Rushlake Green, Horam and Punnets Town. I shall walk around Nettlesworth lane where he was sighted nr to Old Heathfield and get word around. Unfortunately i am fairly busy tonight and weekend but can be back on board Monday. I feel if he was seen in Nettlesworth Lane he has one of two ways to go up to Vines Cross or into Weavers Rock Lane which comes back to Heathfield so will poster round that way too...
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I'm so sorry I couldn't help last night - we had friends coming for dinner. I am on feed station duty for Rennie after work but am happy to spend an hour having a wander round Old Heathfield when I get back - I probably wouldn't get there until about 5.15/30. Clarkey, I may give you a ring to see where you are when I get back. Nettles worth Lane is heading to either Punnets Town, Cowneech or Rushlake Green across the fields. Did anyone take a poster into the Brewers Arms in Vines Cross - the landlady is very doggie and will display a poster. Also worth taking a poster in to Horse and Groom in Rushlake Green. Sam, I can pick you up if needed if your ankle is still playing you up. Timi & kjane85, I think you're still doing an amazing job with your postering and searching - thank you. X

Clarkey, I can get away from work a bit earlier tomorrow so can meet up around 16:30hrs until 18:00hrs if that suits you to have a look around. Shall we meet outside the school?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Alison.
Thanks for your call Jenny .. glad to see Benson is home now. I rang Sam to get more details and have posted about the sightings on here. Have suggested bedding/clothes with familiar scent in area of school if possible to put in suitable place.

That's really fast work with the posters! Hope your thumbs are not too bad Timi! Thanks so much .. it really does help and hopefully some more recent sightings will come in from those and/or the other posters you have put out already. We just need another sighting to find out if Jimmy is still in the Old Heathfield area or has moved on to somewhere else.
I would usually print posters and bring to the area myself but unfortunately I have run out of paper and am working at the moment.
I would do large ones for telegraph poles etc but reduce to smaller A5 ones for letter boxes. Saves on paper, ink and general cost.
I'm working again tomorrow but if I finish early enough I will call to see who is searching and try to join you. I'll check to see if there are any updates if I can get on to internet on the farm!
Come on Jimmy .. show yourself to someone so we can come and get you.
Good luck everyone.

Thanks to you all - sorry I couldn't help when I got the call from samcray1 about the sightings we were out tracking Benson the beagle.

Extra alerts sent to BN27
kjane85
Timi if you are having to pay for the poster printing will you let me know and I will halve it with you 🐶
Gina and Timi
Myself and Samcray have postered through OLd Heathfield and along to Pub at Vines Cross, i will get out tomorrow and poster more heavily including the areas you suggest have also emailed Highlands Farm Kennels in Horam they are aware.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Admin Please could you send out email alerts BN27? Thanks.
kjane85
BN27 is Hailsham...worth including as not far away and some children go to Heathfield School from there I think. Thank you Clarkey 🐶
kjane85
Yes I believe those post codes cover the area I will check where it changes to BN but think that's Hailsham. Timi has been postering the new area this eve and will do more tomorrow bless her, she had just finished Broad Oak! I think you said initially that dog warden was aware I need to contact the police to see where they would take Jimmy if picked up. Can you confirm about dog warden please.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
kjane85 The Doglost alerts went out to TN19. TN20 and TN21. Are the areas you mentioned covered by those? If not I will request some new ones to go out.
LisaCooke Just wondering if posters have been put along the route from the house to Samcray1's school please? If not done then would be a good idea. Large ones on telgraph poles, bus stops, shops etc and smaller ones into people's letter boxes if poss.
kjane85
in view of sightings could we all re -share this page as area now a bit broader and maybe people in Horam, Punnets Town, Rushlake Green, Heathfield and Old Heathfield could check outbuildings sheds and anywhere Jimmy may be sheltering. Keep those fingers crossed everyone and get sharing.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for your comments LisaCooke. As you can see you have loads of support out there and I'm hoping Jimmy will be found soon so do not give up!
When someone rings with sightings please try and find out what day, what time and which direction he was travelling in if poss as it all helps build up a picture of where the little lad is going to and from.

PS I have sent you and Sam friend requests on Fbk. Last edited: 2015-03-26 19:07:48 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Many thanks to all of you, we're overwhelmed by your response and help. I'm Jimmy's owner, we live in Margate, he was visiting my family. I have driven back and searched myself, but I have MS and walk with a cane, so I haven't been much use! My nephews samcray1 are doing their best. I'm so excited about the possible sightings. Jimmy's a real cutie, quite shy and no doubt very scared. Thanks to everybody once again, fingers crossed x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
ooops sorry .. should have thanked you too kjane85! in fact all of you are doing such a fantastic job which must be a great comfort and support to samcray1.
If someone is able to take posters in to the Star pub that would be great. Also Zoe suggested letting Heathfield Park know too although not sure who or how!
I have just spoken to samcray1 and the sightings were in Nettlesworth Lane and near to his school so I have said to keep eyes open in that area (altho obviously this was on Mon) as Jimmy may be following/staying close to his scent.
I can see on google that the Heathfield Leisure Centre and Community College is nearby so if posters could go there too please (just in case someone going to and from there has spotted Jimmy) Maybe along School Hill, Weavers Rock Lane .. in fact anywhere close to the sightings.

Thanks again to the Heathfield team. Brilliant work from all of you.
Hopefully with the posters that are up now we will get some more sightings of Jimmy and find out exactly where he is now. Last edited: 2015-03-26 18:19:34 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Timi .. that's brilliant! Well done. Seems the posters are working as I have just been told that there have been 2 tel calls to say that Jimmy has been seen twice on Monday by Old Heathfield.
Apparently samcray1 walks to school there so seems like Jimmy may be following his scent.
Unfortunately samcray1 has hurt his ankle while out searching so if anyone is able to help him with a lift or any other way that would be great .. pretty please!
Would be great to get more posters up, this time concentrating on the Old Heathfield area and back towards Gorse Hill which is where samcray1 lives.

Jimmy may still be in the Old Heathfield area and that would explain why there's been no sign of him on searches. If he is following samcray1 scent which seems likely then he could be going between his home and his school.
I'm 'bumping' the page because of the sighting
Gina and Timi
I have postered all down Scotsford Road, Swife Lane and Witherenden Road so massive area covered now, also i dropped flyers in the big houses that face Broad Oak across the fields in Swife Lane in case Jimmy entered their gdns.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Just to confirm that I sent the Doglost advice to Samcray1 in an email so I am sure you will be able to get it from him. Hopefully samcray1 will be able to do some of the scenting and leaving bedding/familiar smells now that he has broken up for Easter.

Kjane if you haven't seen the "stuff" admin send out when a dog goes missing give admin a call I'm sure they'll send it to you. Think it's info re scenting etc.
kjane85
Postered the Taxi place this morning, they were unaware of Jimmy's disappearance but were really nice and said they would keep a look out. Great to see all the posters down Street End Lane...well done!! Horrible wet and cold night, I just hope Jimmy has found somewhere warm to stay. I also put a post on the Mayfield Village FB page last evening, lots of people already aware but quite a few shares so that was good. A lady did suggest putting some of the owners clothing down near he went missing as a dog she knew returned after 12 days due to that..... I am sure it has been suggested already but worth a mention. Tomorrow I will drop flyers in the more remote houses in Scotsford Rd on my way home from work. Any other ideas anyone?
kjane85
I too am looking for Rennie and hope to go on the walk on Sunday if Jimmy is found by then. The Greyhound I saw was light in colour and have learnt that this is not the first time he has been loose on the main road and appears to live in the area and takes himself/herself for walkies darting across the busy A267! He/she will cause an accident and the owners need to be severely reprimanded. I wish it had been Rennie I think about her all the time, and now Jimmy too it really is heartbreaking when they are missing.

Sorry I missed you today Jenny - I didn't meet one person on my walk!! Thanks again to you and Tiga - I know he hasn't been well:-( I just wish we had one current sighting of Jimmy....so frustrating as so hard to know where to start:-( Sam, you and your family are doing a great job too. I'm not around on Saturday as I volunteer for a dog rescue so am going up to kennels.
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Just got back with Tiga having worn out one of the grandsons who was great. Tiga set off from the house and headed down towards the school and actually going up to the school gate where the youngest grandson goes to school. So this will be checked out later tonight when quiet. Tiga then carried on down to the field and the exact route they took when walked the day Jimmy went missing and on past the second gate in the direction he bolted. We carried on and eventually came out at Chatsworth Farm/house - we rang the intercom but no answer so this needs a poster and visit. We heard dogs bark here, some big some small. We carried on down the lane via a wood yard and soon after Tiga lost it and decided it was more fun to track deer which he does when he loses the scent. We carried on trying to pick up more scent but Tiga was looking for it without much success and the grandson was now tired and so we decided to head back as we were a little lost!
I think a door to door would be good in Broad Oak and to make sure that the school are aware as they break up on Friday and will then be out and about over Easter. Yes I saw the taxi firm so they need a visit. The owners are going to visit the churchyard this evening as always a good place. I am happy to go back and see if we can pick up anything else but I didn't want to push Tiga as he was not a well boy last night. I suspect Jimmy is touring the gardens at night raiding cat food or holed up in a farm. There was a small farm selling eggs etc by the entrance to the field which also needs a visit and I saw a sigh for a farm shop closely also well worth a visit. Some of the posters need fixing better as 1 pin top and bottom allows the post to close up and not be visible.
samcray1
thank you all so much for the help, we have been searching for hours but still no sign, please keep trying like we are and hopefully we will find him
kjane85
Thanks Zoe it sounds like you had a fab walk and covered all the places Jimmy could be. Jenny went out this afternoon with her tracker dog but although they got a scent they did not find Jimmy. I can run some leaflets out and distribute some locally although I am thinking like you that he is holed up somewhere. I will get some ready anyway and if no news by the weekend perhaps a few of us can try that tack. Timi has been great today and says she will go again tomorrow. Just wish I was not at work!! To cap it all a greyhound or similar darted across the A267 in front of me tonight going at a great pace, too dangerous for me to stop, have posted him on the site in green - hope he is OK. Stopped in Scotsford at dusk as thought a pheasant in the field was Jimmy!!, I will run a poster in plastic for the public footpath there as it cuts across the same fields. The taxi place or whatever was closed this morning on way to work but will drop one off there in tomorrow. Again, thanks for your help - might call on you at the weekend but hope I don't have to as Jimmy is home by then. With regards where he actually lives I am afraid that I don't know, Jenny K9 may have more info as she spent time with the owner today. Fingers crossed everyone!!

I have had quite a good walk round some of the footpaths in Broad Oak this afternoon. Unfortunately no sign - I was obviously in the right sort of area as I did see a few posters on some of the stiles. I took the footpath just down from the school and headed up to the A265 which I walked down past Swife Park and then took a footpath off to the left. It is very overgrown in places down there, lots of places to hide and stay warm and dry. I came across Olives Farm and headed off across the fields, into some woods and then past the gorgeous house with the moat. Up onto Pottens Mill Lane and then back along the road up to the school. Have Frenches been given a poster - they are a garage and also a taxi firm so they'd be ideal to hand out posters. Also Swife Park may be worth a poster although when I walked down the side of it, it didn't seem that busy. I'm really sorry, I don't have a printer so couldn't print any posters. Broad Oak needs to be swamped with posters or maybe a leaflet drop to every house - the locals are all the people who are most likely to have seen/will see Jimmy. Maybe some posters in Butwash, mayfield, Heathfield, Punnets Town? Can I just ask how far away from home was Jimmy when he initially went missing? I can't help but think he's either been picked up or he is holed up somewhere, possibly closer to home, maybe in someone's outbuilding/shed/garage? Another reason why a local leaflet drop might be an idea? Without any sightings it's so hard to know where to start but it sounds like Timi & kjane85 are doing a fantastic job.
Gina and Timi
I have postered on GPO pole just outside school kjane85
Gina and Timi
have postered Burwash/petrol station ... Heathfield Co-op, all around Broad oak, also been back over woods and fields no luck i'm afraid.
kjane85
Wow, fantastic news...well done everyone lets hope Jenny has some luck. I have everything crossed and sorry cannot be with you all today on the search. Did drop a poster off at the Primary School on my way to work this morning, I put it under their mat as they were not open, could someone passing just see if it is on notice board and if not pop in and ask them to put it up please. Come on Jimmy it's up to you now we all want you found.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Thanks Timi - i thought i read somewhere that they had two jack russells....gettig completely confused. I will head off again in that direction again later then. I wonder if he has taken refuge somewhere, maybe in a farm building - surprised that there has been no sightings. Perhaps someone has taken him in and just not reported him as found? I will be up there around 4pm later. x

Hi Zoe the owner is physically unable to search, her grandson is at school so its down to helpers really, Ithe exact location the dog was lost was in fields that you can access at the end of Street End Lane/Scotsford road, there is an entrance by gate into field the grandson has postered across the fields and forest and the school has been asked to show a poster also the Spar shop, i am going to get some posters done and put around Heathfield town, Burwash and Mayfield, i have asked the owners to contact me if they hear anything. They have no other dogs. feel free to contact me my mob number is further down this page.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Have the owners other dogs been walked in that area again? I do think that may be a good idea to try to get their scent down? I'll stop off later - if there is anywhere that any of the regular searchers would like me to focus on then just post here and I'll check this page before I leave work. X
Gina and Timi
I shall be down walking in the morning across fields and forest again
Jules1
I am sure the owners have been advised to use owners urine to encourage Jimmy back. My mothers dog wandered off and was gone for two night. She kept putting her own urine down around the house and the dog found her way back. We heard after the event she had been spotted a long way from home. Worth a try.
kjane85
Put poster in Spar tonight black and white but better than nothing, he said it would be in post office area as can't display in shop. Will drop same into primary school on my way to work tomorrow. Clarkey do you think a recording of his owners voice might help in case he is in hiding I don't think she can get to fields...believe her Grandson was walking Jimmy when he ran off. Just getting bits and pieces of info. Zoe ...that would be great, there is a chicken farm or something opposite the school, I wonder if they have been informed could you poss check. Sorry at work again tomorrow although might try an early look if I can get myself organised. Clarkey someone said about K9 search....do you have contact?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks to those of you going out and searching. I didn't realize that Jimmy is not familiar with the area.
Thanks Zoe, that would be great if you would do that.
If anyone else is able to poster please put as many as possible up especially around the area that Jimmy went missing. Posters are so important as this is usually how ou will hear of any sightings.

Re the fields that are private land .. does anyone know who they belong to? If they are farmland then I am sure if you asked the owners of the farm they would give you permission to search them. It may be that Jimmy is hiding out there or even on a farm near where he went missing.

I messaged Heathfield, Mayfield, Downwood and Pennard vets on their Fbk pages to let them know Jimmy is missing.

I'm sorry I've not been around today. I can stop off in broad oak tomorrow on my way home from work . I drove through there tonight and didn't see any visible posters? Pet shop on Heathfield might be a good idea - also Scats and windmill feeds. I will start from Street End Lane tomorrow unless anyone wants me to search somewhere else?
kjane85
Just adding to Timi's comment as I spoke to her earlier and apparently the dog was visiting this area so probably won't find his way back to the house as I had hoped. Another plea really for anyone who can go please spend an hour looking. We have been down Swifes Lane today and also back in the woods/fields he went missing from. Told local garden centre and vets in Horam, Timi has told both vets in Heathfield. The word is getting around, we did find other people looking which is great. This lady is desperate for her little lad back so please help if you can. x
Gina and Timi
Have just arrived back from a 2hr walk across fields and forest where owners have postered nothing seen unfortunately. Also contacted local vets with info in Heathfield. I have no facility to do posters but maybe someone could pop one into the Spar Foodmarket between Heathfield and Broad Oak. Keep safe little fella x

So pleased that Jimmy is chipped:-). That map is really helpful as well - I drive through Broad Oak to get to and from work so will keep an eye open. Have you out a poster up at the spa shop in Broad Oak and also at the primary school? Also might be worth putting a poster up at Tottingworth Farm shop and Heathfield school as well - anything that attracts a few visitors.
samcray1
thanks everyone for all the support! we really need to keep trying and we have all day, he IS micro chipped my nana wasnt aware of this at the time

Great to see so many people are already helping find Jimmy .. thanks everyone! What a great team we have helping Doglost in the Heathfield area!
Some excellent advice on here re bedding or something with a familiar scent on it to help Jimmy home.
I have emailed our Doglost advice to samcray1 and hope that will help too.
samcray1 Most dogs will go back to the place that they were lost from altho some may try to head home.
I suggest that you keep looking in places that Jimmy is familiar with and close to where he went missing and anywhere that you usually walk and play with him.
Good luck with your search.
kjane85
Can you text or phone the number above michc and see when her Grandson is next looking he may be able to pinpoint exactly where Jimmy ran off. I am at work all week but I am sure my partner would be up for another search tomorrow. Personally I do not think he will have gone far and may just be somewhere very nearby terrified. Could you perhaps check and see if a poster is up at Broad Oak Primary as that would be seen by loads of locals, there are plenty of posters in the woods. Thank you.
michc
I'm nearby can i help in a search party?

My partner has searched the wooded area for two hours with our two JRT's but no sign of Jimmy, the fields are private land so could not be searched. I understand that the owner is unable to look herself and is relying on her Grandson who is at school today. There are posters up in the area but perhaps if anyone does live locally to Heathfield and needs to walk their dogs today could I suggest they go there and help to try and find Jimmy, he is too small to be out alone. He is frightened of most things apparently and may just be hiding in undergrowth. Fingers crossed he is found safe by someone who contacts Dog Lost or the Dog Warden.

Sorry to hear Jimmy is missing - hopefully someone has kept him safe and will pop him into a vets for scanning today , however I note he is not chipped, so would highly recommend both ringing and forwarding local vets a picture of him asap - have shared him on my fb page - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=939667599387515&set=a.101662736521343.3750.100000328510890&type=1&theaterLast edited: 2015-03-23 10:27:20 by PAW

Someone may have picked him up and wait until today to take him to the vets to be scanned? Please call all the local vets to see if he has been handed in. I would suggest vets as far afield as wadhurst, burwash, battle, just in case someone was driving through who wasn't local and took him home. With no microchip or tag it will be very difficult for them to trace you if he's been taken out of the area so really important to circulate his details widely. I live in Heathfield so have shared with my local contacts via facebook.

Have shared on fb - will keep an eye open locally. Please contact animal wardens as soon as you can as with no tag or chip they will have no idea where to return him:-( We are very lucky to have a fantastic dog warden in our area who goes over and beyond what she is obliged to do. Do we know where exactly he went missing? And whether he headed over towards Mayfield, Heathfield, burwash or Cade Street?
