Thank you Liz Q for the full explanation. So sad that her humans were not there for her at the end, what a wonderful vet you have to take such good care of her and to undertake that difficult final act of kindness.

For a dog to be turfed out in pain and agony and suffering is incredibly cruel and heartless. Thankfully she ended her days free of pain and with people who care. Run pain free at Rainbow Bridge lovely Ella x

The vets did not take this decision lightly. If you read the comment, this poor girl could not even stand unaided. Unfair to infer there was any other choice x

I know an Alsation that had arthritis it had good medication and was pain free most of the time , I have arthritis and while its painful they haven't put me to sleep , sorry for being negative but I think putting this dog to sleep is awful xx

Poor girl. How can you abandon a dog when it needs you most? There is help if you can't afford the vet fees. It just makes me so angry. Dogs give you everything and they deserve unconditional love and respect. The caring vets make the right decision. xx

Northlands Veterinary Hospital
As you know this gorgeous girl was found 8/9 days ago after being abandoned and then found by a member of the public. She was brought into us by the police as it was suspected that she had been involved in a road traffic accident as she was unable to stand up on her own accord. After a thorough examination it was determined that she had not been hit by car, and that her injuries were actually an on going spinal/hip condition that she has most likely had for quite a while and was most likely also due to her age, as according to her microchip details she was 12years old!
Once she had been examined she was put on a course 2 very strong pain relief tablets, which initially worked really well and she was mobile and moving around on her own, however after this initial response to the medications she showed little improvement and was once again having to be helped to stand

As you may be aware Ella was micro-chipped and, along with the help of the Rspca Northamptonshire Branch, we did all we could to find her owners but unfortunately they could not be located and unfortunately due to her condition we all strongly believe that she was abandoned

As Ella was not improving with the treatment she was receiving it was decided, after a very long and heartfelt discussion between the veterinary staff here at Northlands and the staff at the RSPCA, that it was in Ella's best interests to send her over rainbow bridge. So it is with a very heavy heart, and lots of tears, that we said goodbye to Ella

Such a lovely looking Rottie girl and, from the photo, looks well cared for. Hoping Ella can be given some medication to relieve her arthritis. Our old Rotties have always found slippery floors to be a huge problem when getting up from lying down, especially first thing in the morning which is why we have carpets in all rooms and 'Trapper' mats in the kitchen. Our Milly really doesn't like slippery hard floor surfaces and I couldn't help but notice that Ella is lying on a slippery-looking floor in the photo. How odd that she was found at such a strange hour. Poor girlie. All the Rottie's we've shared our lives with love their beds and home comforts and are normally tucked up and fast asleep by 10pm. Really hoping that her owners come forward as Ella must be missing them terribly.

Also NOT hit by a car, she has bad hips and arthritis and is struggling with her back legs x
