These dogs are so clever at living wild, as Hazel says, yo are doing great. Perseverence is very often the key. Come on Myrtle, let's find you sweetie. x
Unknown
Creekling, did you manage to contact the golf club, pubs and farms on the list and get posters around to them at all ?. It is just getting word out as much as possible due size of where she could be and hoping someone somewhere will see her soon. Keep positive, you all been doing so well and so much to help out there and not give up on her x
BrunosSlave
There is absolutely no sign of Myrtle, I now doubt that she is still in the immediate area. I will of course continue to watch out for her though.
BrunosSlave
Still nothing. Still keeping an eye open.
Creekling
Thank you for the update BrunosSlave, the sightings have stopped but there is still hope. She has to be out there somewhere... Still no sightings, or any signs of her.
BrunosSlave
No sighting to report. I spoke to the angling club bailiff today - he is around the area every day but hasn't seen Myrtle at all. They have been felling trees in the woods around The Park yesterday and today, perhaps that will force Myrtle to break cover? I'm going to start walking further afield again, perhaps our paths will cross further out.

BrunosSlave, Just working on the map at the moment. If you are able to text me your email address then I can send the file over to you. Hope this helps.
BrunosSlave
Creekling it would be useful to see your map with the sightings marked on. Is there anywhere in the area or online that you could put it for those of us looking to see?
M
How many local dog rescue centres have been checked out, I checked with Blue Cross and Wood Green but not handed in.
Have you asked K9 Interventions Weston if they have heard anything and also The North Hertfordshire Council Stray Dogs Department 01462730464.
Creekling
Thank you all. Still no sighting yet. However, there have been a few additional tips from Hazel a Dogslost member for Herts. Here are a few suggestions/ideas as written by Hazel:

1). it took me several weeks to catch a Romanian dog.

2). it would be brill idea to make a map of where she was lost to where sightings were it can be small triangle or large one. If and when more sightings come in you can then work out the size of the Triangle.

3).Dogs always look for places to sleep can be up to two little safe pads they make, they will look for water and food so if in gardens food left for foxes they will go for that if not they will look round shops and bins also bins in parks.

4). Now one thing very very important she could well be there or very near but if she has been scared off she will not be coming out she will be seeing all of you before you see her. Again she could be like the girls i was doing they stopped coming to the feeding station at 6pm it became 8p then 10pm they would disappear then reappear at 2am would be sort of around till 6am then nothing again till night time.

5). Just an idea as that is why no one seeing her simply not out at the right times.

Those were a few suggestions from Hazel, she requested that we share it.
I have printed off a basic map of Weston and drawn a simple Triangle around the area that she went missing.

Thank you once again, to those continuing to show their support. Last edited: 2015-02-27 18:26:31

Nothing to report but still looking
Creekling
Still no signs or sightings... we've parked further away and walked through the location (as she may recognise engine and flee) but still no joy. Thank you all for keeping an eye open. She could be anywhere. We believe local, but slightly further out and watching in... if we hear or see, we shall update.
BrunosSlave
Nothing to report this weekend. I am walking circular routes radiating out from Weston, if Myrtle has moved further out then there's a slim chance I might see her.
M
Myrtle was last seen on Sunday 15 Febuary from the track off The Drive opposite Nursery Cottage near the fishing car park.
Weston Park SG47BY.
BrunosSlave
Thanks M
Yes, that's where I walked from. I started from near Nursery Cottage up to Warrens Green and back, circling The Park. I stick to the footpaths but peer into the woods where I can. I'm also staring into the distance a lot hoping for a glimpse of movement along the bottom of a hedgerow!
M
BrunosSlave
It is the fishing lake near the cricket ground between The Park and The Church
Not the one near Warrens Green.
BrunosSlave
Did a circuit from near the fishing lake along the footpath to Warrens Green, down the footpath past the back of Warrens Green Farm back towards Weston. No sign of Myrtle. I shall continue to keep an eye out for her when I'm walking.

Shared again with local fb group Herts/Beds. Hope there is another sighting soon x
M
If Myrtle is still about which I very much doubt It is upto the owner to make arrangements to put the cage somewhere near or a trap cage but it will need checking every day.
The dog is a feral which has only been in this country a short time.
The owner will have to get someone to check the cage.
If I see the dog I will phone the owner.

BrunosSlave
I have been away for a couple of days but will resume walks around Weston today. It's disappointing that Myrtle's cage and shelter have been moved. I have 2 cats myself so I can see the point of view of someone with 3 cats & a lost dog hanging around but even so it's a pity that it wasn't done with more tact.
How far away do you estimate she will have moved? It will help me plan where to look. Also with her history is she thought to be more likely to keep near houses etc or to head for the woods? With the landowner's permission could the shelter be moved to a more communal area? There are plenty of spots close to the garden where she was feeding.
M
Mrytle was not a home visit to my house it was another house on the estate.
I have just been helping try and find her
M
The cage was removed after 4 days of no sightings the food was not touched after she had eaten twice a day for a week her last meal was on Sunday and it was in a neighbours garden who has 3 cats
I can not keep going onto another person property.
Also the garden in question is on a private country estate.
Nobody on the estate or anglers who use a lake on the estate have seen Myrtle since last Sunday Morning.
Myrtle was on a home visit at the time and she slipped her lead.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
As a thought, who moved her cage and why? Check out that tey didn't take her - just a thought. Would she have gone to them?
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yes, she may have moved away a little, but not that far. Myrtle is very good at hiding so I suspect she is still around. I am so upset at her cage being moved and dumped by the bins! I wish people were more sensitive. Check out any other possible dangers by phoning Highways, and council for roads and if there is a railway, you need to visit station and call Network Rail. But, I think Myrtle is just being clever and hiding out someplace else. Keep the posters gopin up, further out. You need calls again to se where she is. Come on sweetehart, where have you gone? x
Creekling
Thank you all. We have checked other parts of the countryside too, but no signs or sounds. She was last 'seem' on Sunday, but nothing since then. It is possible that she may have been spooked or startled by somebody or something and has moved out further a field as a result...

Unfortunately, the crate and safe place has been removed from the spot in which she was 'most likely' to return and we have been asked to collect it within 7 days or it will be disposed of.

We can only presume that the residents are undergoing renovations in their garden or simply moving house. Let us hope that she doesn't return there in search for a safe-place, to find nothing available.

Myrtle is a survivor. She will be ok.

Thank you all for the continued support at this difficult time.
BrunosSlave
I walked from the church towards warrens green, back to halls green today but no sighting. Still hopeful though
M
Last seen Sunday night, No food has been touched since Sunday night.
I have had a good search of the area today.
I can only think she has moved away as I live in the countryside she could be anywhere.
Will leave food and water and shelter in the normal place.
Jo Webber
I wish I was closer! You're all doing such a brilliant job! One of mine is also called Myrtle so I've been following this little girl. Go Team Myrtle!

Well done everyone! Myrtle will still come back, this is now part of her route. Dogs do a triangle but always come back. So hang in there. Keep up the good work! Come on Mrytle. xxxLast edited: 2015-02-16 22:25:56 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Well done team Myrtle!
BrunosSlave
I'll continue to walk and watch a little away from The Park in case Myrtle does wander off a bit. M's doing a grand job of trying to tempt her in. Lots of people walk their dogs through that area but luckily that doesn't appear to be scaring her off.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
So pleased that you have seen Myrtle again. Great that she now has a shelter to use if she wants to.
It's hard to be patient when you are so close, but the advice that Kimmybear is giving is spot on. You need to go very slowly so that she is not scared off. Slowly, slowly catchy Myrtle!
Wishing you the best of luck.
M
Spotted Myrtle this afternoon she was laying up beneath a thick hedge, have now given her a shelter if she wants to use it with food and water .
BrunosSlave
No sign when we walked this afternoon. went for a walk from the church out towards Warrens Green and peered into the woods but no sign of Myrtle.
M
The owner and walked around the area today but sadly no sign of Myrtle, She may have wandered further away now she is getting used to the area.
Have left food out will keep a lookout over the followings days.
BrunosSlave
Well done M, we had a quiet wander along the woodland path and drive in the middle of the day but I suspect she is lying low in the daytime. Fingers and paws crossed here for Myrtle.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Walkerscreek, yes, let M keep leaving food, twice daily, same time same place. Is Myrtle's bed/cage there? Keep it somewhere safe there or close by but out of view of anything or anyone that might upset her. A sheltered, position with back against wall, or bushes so she only has to watch one way - in front of her. Leave water bowl and owner needs to scent this area. Owner that was in the attachments sent to you. If you have forgotten/lost email, contact me kherbie57@sky.com. Do this around that area. Dogs never forget a smell even if they forget who you are for a short while, its only due to survival mode which is keepin her alive. Excellent news. Once we know for certain its Myrtle eating the food, or actually even now, I would suggest owner camps out there for a night/day. When you see her, don't shout, call very quietly so she can process that it is you. Stay low. If she runs leave her (I know its hard) or she will get frightened off. You could also in fact, simply walk around that area and chat away to someone else she knows or just talk to yourself. If she is in hearing or watching distance, she can have a think and watch you, until it clicks. Then hey presto, she may charge in your direction. You never know exactly what dogs will think when they see you, dogs can go either way, but only because they need time to process as they are on "alert" to survive. I am getting excited here. Keep going Team Myrtle! x Last edited: 2015-02-14 19:19:32 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

M has just updated us that he had another sighting this morning, but Myrtle ran off. Any suggestions Kimmybear? :-/
Creekling
Good morning all, we were updated by M yesterday regarding a possible sighting of a dog fitting Myrtle's description. We described Myrtle, and the description was accurate from what we had said.
So the chances are high...

We instantly went to the sight where she was reported missing. Unfortunately, there was no sightings or sounds. We have left some food there for M, and asked if he'd place it in the crate/near the crate for Myrtle.

Shall update again if we hear or see anything.

Thank you for your suggestions Kimmybear & kind words.

x

Owner, I am sure Phoenix is helping from above. I'm so sorry that you lost Phoenix and Myrtle is missing. Hang in there. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Oh M, really? That is fab! Owner, don't try to trap her yet because there are so many laws on this and also, for her own safety. We will tell you what to do step by step before, and IF, you need to trap her. The trap needs monitoring 24/7, but as you have left her own cage, she may just sit in it and wait for your return. If what M says, is correct, then the garden is a good place to leave food as well. Maybe the resident will watch for her and slowly but surely, day by day gain her trust and capture her or coax her in the garden. Once we know for sure its her coming and going, we can arrange a trap. We need to know for certain and we need a specialist trap (which we have) but usually traps are not needed when when can get owner at the location of the feeding station. Right now Myrtle would be in survival mode, so may not recognise you immediately, but sometimes they do. Whichever it is, once we know whose eating food, we can then progress to the next stage. You can do this! You will do this! Okay, Myrtle, Daddy's on his way to get you. Slowly but surely. x Bumping for sighting. x
M
Think I saw MYRTLE in a garden in Weston Park today at 4.00pm Have informed the owners.
The garden is near the fishing lake and the garden is visible from the private drive near horseshoe pond and wall pond
I have left the cage with some food in it.
Will check on Saturday 14/02/2015

M
Creekling
Brilliant BrunsoSlave, thank you.
BrunosSlave
Nothing this morning but I have put a poster up at the start of the path from the car park to the fishing lake.
Creekling
Thank you everybody for your support. Still no signs yet... she's out there somewhere.
Hopefully she is in the area, but we cannot be certain. The food is being eaten, but it could be a variety of local animals. If she has left the area, it is most likely that she ran and ran on the day, became disorientated and lost her way.

She's a survivor and could be keeping a very low profile. Based on her character, she liked to remain within close proximity and wouldn't venture too far.

It would be interesting to know what is eating the food supply. The only way of knowing is either catching them in the act, a motion detecting camera or simply a trapping crate. If it's her, then she's caught and found.. if not then it will be a case of releasing the caught animal at the time.

It's just a thought...

Phoenix has now passed over to Rainbow bridge, but she was a fully trained Search & Rescue Dog.
She would of helped find Myrtle.

Well, if there are any updates I shall be in touch.

Thank you all...

Please note: The advert has now been updated to Cross Breed.
BrunosSlave
No sign on my walk this morning but I did tell several people about her & showed them her picture. I also spoke to a fisherman at the lake at The Park. If Myrtle is timid then a fisherman sat quietly might have the best chance of spotting her? I will print off a poster and put it up at the fishing car park but that might not happen until tomorrow. Is it still thought that Myrtle is in the immediate area?
tracie 68
I'm local and have been out looking today but nothing x
BrunosSlave
Nothing to report I'm afraid.
BrunosSlave
There was another dog lost for a couple of hours in the same place yesterday. There were a number of people looking for it but no one spotted Myrtle. I will go back and look again today.
twoDs
I agree that the Corgi cross description doesn't really match her photo and people may not realise it is her?
Unknown
She looks a bit like a Stafford or Collie cross more than a Corgi cross so maybe a good idea to ask dog warden if they have one of those crosses too.As we know chips arnt always reliable .....hope you find her soon she is very pretty xxxLast edited: 2015-02-11 07:39:15

Kimmybear will share when I find a brain cell later and will beg for help on the ground. I so hope she will soon be found xx
sophiesuds
Have posted details of her missing in local website to make more people aware, has owner advised vets, wardens etc? On local website have referred them to doglost or dog warden. Too far away for me to help, but maybe posters up, leaflets left in shops or posted through doors may help too.

Thank you for the update BrunosSlave, we have seen no signs today either. It is possible she is within the area, but hiding out very well. There are familiar scents in place where she last disappeared, so hopefully she will recognise those on return.
BrunosSlave
No sign this morning. For clarity this dog disappeared from near Weston Park house not near the Manor House which is in the middle of the village.
Creekling
Thank you BrunosSlave, We've been walking around Weston Park since Friday and no sightings just yet...
We have left some food out for her, at the last point she was seen. The food has been eaten, but it could be a Fox or other wild life resident to that type of environment. However, the food left on the higher object has not been eaten, so it could be an animal that typically walks/crawls along the ground.
BrunosSlave
This is in my area, I will walk around the park tomorrow morning.
