That's good news for Rusty, at least he knows you can see and hear his stamps, glad he got his bits sorted out, couldn't of been comfy for him. I get paid next week so can help a bit xxx
eduardochick
Thank you to those who have contacted me with help for Rusty.
His medical bills are ongoing but the vet is delighted with his progress.
Will get a photo on here as soon as I am able.
Thank you Doglost and the very generous people who are helping Rusty. Words fail me and you know who you are.
xx
eduardochick
Hi
Thank you for your concerns
xx
Here is the latest about Rusty. I am having trouble with my phone emailing photos so will try via FB. Can this be done admin?

I did have an appeal up but it expired and with the op and Easter holidays, I didnt renew it. However it anyone would like to help plse, I would be really grateful. :)
My email is dcbalchin@aol.com or 07818 112550. The first bits were covered by myself and some very kind donations. However, the items detailed below are outstanding .

Here is the story so far:-

So it turned out that he isnt blind or deaf. However, he did have kc, a large mass in the testicules, a heart problem, bad teeth, an eye infection, etc
I regd him with my local vet and asked them for rescue rates. They thought about it, havent given me rescue rates but Sarah, the vet, did discount the operation. I have managed to get Rusty insured but there are lots of exclusions. Cost of this has been £345.61 which is being paid monthly.
The first couple of visits to the vet were funded by myself and some very kind individuals. The recent operation should be partially covered by Petplan - that is the teeth bit.
Sarah is the vet who is treating Rusty. She started him on heart meds and various tabs incl antibiotics. Operation was cancelled once as the heart problem was more severe than originally thought. So a week later, he went back in and was castrated (mass removed) and he had a dental, along with 9 teeth being removed.
He is a happy little dog but clearly he likes his own way :) Maybe he has had little training and he stamps his paws a bit like tantrums as I (try not) to give into his barking! he is a real character and is greatly loved :)
Today he went back for a further checkup and more meds. These bills are £603.65 and £79.99.
The vet details are as follows:-

Sarah - 01235 814991
Larkmead Vets
111- 113 Park Road
Didcot
Oxon
OX11 8QT

I have tried to post a photo of Rusty on here from today but its gone into the atmosphere :0 Its a photo of Rusty lying sleeping - unusual as prior to the op, he was very unsettled. The vet thought it was due to the weight of the mass. She said that he should have been neutered years ago :(
Will try to get info on Dog Lost as well.

Is there any news on Rusty, please?
Viv B
I am sorry to hear Rusty was not well enough for surgery - I do hope he is improving with antibiotics and his scan was OK. Best wishes for Rusty and family. x
duffs54
Hi can't find his facebook page can you post the link for me please, ta lots xx
eduardochick
Unfortunately, Rusty couldnt have surgery last week as he wasnt well enou. He had another shot of antibiotics, a heart scan and is due back at the vets this coming Thursday.
His vet bills are climbing.
Please if you can, help us to give Rusty the chance that he deserves.
Thank you
eduardochick

Great that the plight of poundies has another advocate. Rusty will be great for publicising too, just look at the difference in the two photo's above. Keeping him in my followed dogs box for updates.
eduardochick
And so we visited the vets. Rusty was very well behaved. He has now got some antibiotics to help wuth the cough (end of kc) and more tabs to help with the athritis. We have to go back next week when he will be scanned to see if his heart is up to a general. Fingers crossed.
The vet estimates that already, the next stage will be around £450 and she also wants to take out a rotten tooth. Combing this with the insurance (which has a lot of exemptions), I hope that nobody minds that I have set up the fundraising appeal. Please dont feel obliged to help but if you would be able to share Rusty's plight just to highlight how tough it is for Poundies, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you again everyone and Doglost.
Regards
Deborah

I too was somewhat perplexed that having sent a donation and asking for confirmation, I heard nothing. I also donate quite regularly and usually get a reply quite quick. Glad Rusty Is ok and will look on Facebook for his page. x
duffs54
Hi eduardochick that was me about the hoax comment, I donate quite regularly to requests and this was the first time nothing came back I was just concerned that a few peops hadn't heard anything back and was worried that Rusty hadn't been rescued at all sadly these things do happen.

Relieved all is ok and will look forward to the updates and thanks again for stepping in xx Last edited: 2015-02-24 16:23:27 by duffs54

Thanks for the update on lovely Rusty!
eduardochick
PS
Just read the post about someone worrying if this is a hoax. Dear goodness, no. I appreciate that you dont know me but I hope that my comments have reassured you. If you need further reassurance, I know lots of people in rescue but I tend to do things 'under cover'. I have worked with the late Angela Hogan via Tailends, Coryn at RDR, Sue Tipton knows me as does Louise Campbell at Dogs Trust
eduardochick
Hi
Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. Just got back from break in Scotland. Rusty had his own Rusty sitter at my house:thank you Grace :) for caring for the lovely boy :)
Thank you so much for your donations xxx. I will look at each one later on and confirm receipt of ones that I have received on Rusty's behalf.
Rusty is due back at the vets tomorrow at 9.30am. He has put on quite a bit of weight but his cough is worse. If they can operate then it will need to be soon. If they cant then plse rest assured that I will do everything that I can to keep him safe, comfortable and happy for the rest of his days :)
I have a friend who has sent me details of a collection point on FB for donations. All this is new to me so plse bear with me . T did set up a group called Rusty's Rescue on FB. If you want to join and cant find it plse contact me Deborah Balchin on FB and I will try and link something.
Otherwise I will post everything on here after work tonight.
My mobile is 07818 112550 should anyone like to speak to me re Rusty updates or with regards to ourpursuit to raise the profile of all Poundies but especially oldies.
Many thanks again and Nicky B, I will ring you nless you ring me first.
Thank you on Rusty's behalf.

Just wondering the same thing myself. I think I saw a facebook post a couple of days or so ago.
collieowner
Still no word 😳 seems strange to me that nobody has heard anymore. Have sent a donation and asked for confirmation but not a word. Anyone know anything more?
collieowner
Hi Deborah, did you get my donation? I sent an email asking you to confirm as I hadn't donated that way before. Hope all's well. Sally x
BMdevon

Blurry screen syndrome here. I for one (of many) am delighted that eduardochick is keeping Rusty and giving him the love and attention he needs and deserves. Shrove Tuesday and some good news :)

Thank you for caring and taking this little fella in, just donated xxx

So pleased he is safe.......enjoy your life Rusty xx

Email from his rescuer

Rusty is much more settled and the barking has reduced dramatically :)
I have managed to get him insured under Pet Plan but there are a number of exclusions on the policy - no help with arthritis, lumps that sort of thing. The insurance is costing in excess of £300 and vet bills so far have come in at just under £100 which includes a thunder jacket. This was the basic checkup, jacket and microchipping. We are about to start the bloods etc. He is eating a lot of sardines/pilchards and he loves cheese!
We are in the process of setting up a justgiving page but if anyone is interested in helping us out with Rusty's accelerating bills, I would be extremely grateful.
Paypal to dcbalchin@aol.com or cqs made payable to Rusty's Rescue.
Thank you ever so much.
He is a lovely little dog with heaps of character!
Unknown
I've changed the name to Rusty on here. Well done everyone who's had a hand in this one. We like a good reunited story.
AlisonH
Send a photo of him to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting ID80720 and I will add it to the page for you.
eduardochick
Hi
My name is Deborah and I have decided that 2015 will be the year that I attempt to set up my tiny rescue for old dogs, in memory of the great Angela Hogan (Tailends). On day 8, I drove to the kennels and collected Rusty. He is a lovely little dog. I took him to my vets and had him microchipped immediately to me. I had intended to find him a lovely new home but I think that could be tricky. He has sight and hearing problems (but not totally blind and deaf as I was told). He has a heart problem and it looks like testicular cancer. He also has a bit of kc at the moment. The vet wont neuter him until his bloods have been done and this wont happen until he has put on a bit of weight. Its going on well now, considering. He has been very frightened and to start with, barked the whole time, day and night. This is much better now and he is sleeping and seems a lot more relaxed :)
I would like to put a photo of him on here - just not sure how.
I hope no-one minds me asking but as I cant insure him, if anyone would like to contribute to his vet bill, etc, I would be extremely grateful.
I am going to set up Rusty's page on FB so that any of his followers can see his progress.
Thank you everyone for your concern for this little boy who will spend the rest of his days (whatever time he has left) with me.Last edited: 2015-02-02 23:00:26 by eduardochick

Comment copied from MK page posted by someone that knows this little man (NOT THE SCUM THAT DUMPED HIM)
Annie Parker Helen L Pinnock Could you give me a link as to where I can enter the info, I clicked on his poster but don't seem to be able. I could give you the info, He is 12/13 years old, Jack russel cross, very gentle and friendly nature, going deaf possibly, unneutered unchipped named Rusty. He is used to children, but I think he deserves a quieter environment for his dotage. Thank your friend so much xxx
mathers22
I wondered if he was oldish because some dogs do have discharge from their eyes in later life. Hope he is ok and gets a home if his it is true and his owners aren't interested x
Carol
Has he an injury to his eye xxxxx
Jot cotswolds
If the dog was untagged and unchipped, and tel numbers shown here are recorded weekend messages at council dog warden office..how does anyone know the owners have been identified, contacted somhow, and don't want him back? Are we missing some information here? There's either a big hole in the information available here or assumptions have been made possibly?
Lolathelostmaltese
No offence to anyone on this post but humans are very typical they are selfish creatures.I believe that there is only 1 billion people who give a dam about animals and less who will rescue them.

Poor fella hope he finds a new home what breed do you thin he is?

Have shared in the hope someone can offer this poor soul a loving, forever home. His owners should be prosecuted for neglect surely? Or at least fined and made to pay for his keep until a home is found for him.
