- Have you checked on the lower surface of the collar, next to fur, for a phone number?

- If you take her to a vet, they will scan for free.
If there are kennels locally, they might just have a scanner. Not many police stations would have a scanner..
The wardens may allow you to keep the dog provisionally for 28(?) days or earlier until the owner claims.
The problem with pound kennels is that they legally have to keep the dog for 7days, then can rehome, or worse, pts! So finder you seem to be offering a valuable alternative... Lucky dog!
Ps sounds like cherry eye, which will need to be treated by a vet as soon as returned to owner.

- What a kind finder, I am sure such an old lady is better off with you than in kennels while her owner is found. Hope you get her home soon.

- Will my local police station have a microchip scanner? She had her name tag with a name on but no number so she could be microchipped.

- I wasn't sure whether to put a name incase someone claims the dog, people scour the internet for bait dogs.
Also, I have made some posters which I will put in local shops. I will contacts the wardens and police when I am free later on. Won't they just come and collect the dog though? I want to try and help her get home personally to put my mind at ease. Otherwise she could be in a kennel for months.
