Hoped that this beautiful fella would have showed himself by now. Please stay positive, most dogs are very resourceful, but do check sheds & garages. if he likes the car take it to as near as you can to where he bolted -run the engine- it's another one of my collies tricks-bolting back to where I used to park the car & then crawl under the nearest one he could find. I know how worried you must be but the dog lost helpers will do what they can. For the other owners try walk dogs early before the schools get let out -it's not ideal but at least it's quiet. Fingers crossed for MILO & all the other dogs still missing including my friends 2 x gsds missing from S72 area since May :( Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A busy time ahead the next 2-3 weeks for dog owners. Thunderstorms cannot be helped as an act of nature. B***DY Fireworks are a different matter. I do hope Milo is soon found. Bless him.xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Your're right Tracyb about dogs heading for the nearest cover when frightened by fireworks. Our old Rottie was frightened by fireworks whilst we were out on our walk one night. He just crawled under the nearest hedge & there he (and I!) stayed for the next hour or so until I managed to persuade him to move. I even took my jacket off & covered his head so that he felt safer. He won't go out even if he's desperate for a pee! As soon as Mags hears a firework, he turns & heads straight home - pee or no pee! And so, what I'm saying is that, it is VERY LIKELY Milo is holed up somewhere nearby. Come on Milo, show yourself - fingers crossed!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well said Tracyb and BrodieMurphy. I agree totally. Fireworks should be limited to organized displays for Bonfire Night only. These days they seem to be set off for the slightest 'celebration.' They are just a damn nuisance and, in the wrong hands, dangerous weapons. Stay safe Milo little man. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agree with what Tracyb said - had a collie that used to do the same thing and when he went missing overnight once he was found hiding under a shed at the local garden centre. Milo will be hiding somewhere where he feels safe. Poor thing, it really is awful that we still have to put up with this nonsense. When will the government ban the sale of fireworks and make them for organised public displays only?!! There will be so many dogs on these pages for the next month or so having been spooked by fireworks and it is truly heartbreaking! I hope that Milo is home very soon. Stay safe until you are found sweetheart xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Damn fireworks again. As an owner of a 11 yr old collie who has done exactly the same thing from being a puppy, please go back to where he was last seen & check undergrowth & shrubbery. Mine used to bolt for the darkest hole he could find. I'm too far away to be of any real help but will txt a couple of people I know that drive over that way frequently. To other owners please invest ?5.00 in a glo coller- they flash bright pink all the way round- i swear by them as they've enabled me to find my collie more than once. & flexilead- it's not fair to have to keep dog an a lead but at least you won't have the stress of chasing a terrified dog- alternative is to use it to hang the stupid sods that thinks it's funny to set fireworks off from 5pm in the afternoon.Grhhh. Fingers crossed that Milo is back home safe soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
