one like him found up north tho wearing a dogstrust collar, could you check him out tho? maybe he was picked up by them when he first went missing?

Dorset Dog Rescue are now aware and will look into it. The little chap they have came from Ireland.

I've just come off the phone from Paddy's owner who has been able to give me a little more info.
He advises that Paddy was stolen from the driveway of his 3 acre property which is set back off the main dual carriageway running through St Leonard's. It was on an occasion he had seen a car there and the occupant appeared to be looking over his car. It was only shortly after that he discovered Paddy missing.
Paddy is appx 8 years old and described him as the colour of a ridgeback (gingery) and all one colour except for with a darker black fringe around the edge of his ears . He is a cross between a dachshund and a miniature Jack Russell and has very short legs.
The only other distinguishing feature being that he sometimes , not always , does a hoppy limp with his back leg.
Having just moved he is unable to put his hand on a photo immediately but will get one emailed to me as soon as he can locate one so I can register one here.
No collar or tag and is un chipped.
The dog warden is aware.

Dorset Dog Rescue are looking for a home for a male what I would say is 'brown' dachshund
"Little radar the dachsund x jrt is still looking for his forever home. Hes in foster with other dogs, fine with children whilst I had him and not fussed by our cat. He is mini jrt size very loving and just wants a lap to curl up on. Had a rough few weeks after being attacked by another dog but recovering extremely well."
