Awwww .. thanks valpark for doing that but at least you won't need to do any more! However, that reminds me ... ... ...
Just one more job to do please folks .. if you have put posters up please would you take them down?
Very boring I know, but something we try to encourage. It will also show other people that Dylan is not missing any more.

I should also thank the incredibly supportive communities around Cross in Hand, Heathfield, Vines Cross and Horam etc who have shown fantastic support to the family.
Oh and it's not often that a page like this gets so many 'views' .. more than 3000 in just 6 days .. Dylan has been a popular boy!

Thanks again one and all!Last edited: 2014-05-29 16:49:30 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Reunited photo on its way - Dylan is asleep on the sofa with the boys in good shape. Well done to Karen and Monty who walks regularly with Dylan and who gave Dylan the confidence to come when the hand went in the pocket for a treat.

Whoooo hooo!! Oh wow! I have only just seen this and am over the moon that Dylan is safe and at home again! I have absolutely no doubt at all that it's down to the amazing family he has .. they have not stopped searching and postering since their lad went missing last Sat. I am also sure that the hundreds of shares on Facebook helped make so many people aware that Dylan was lost that he was almost 'famous'!!
>>> A special thank you to Zoe who despite having a very busy schedule herself went out searching and postering, also for sharing invaluable local knowledge to myself and Dylan's lovely family.

>>> I look forward to hearing the details of how exactly Dylan was found .. and who managed to catch him!

>>> Again thanks to Jenny and Tiga who spent hours and hours tracking yesterday. Noticed that Dylan was found near to where Tiga had tracked to yesterday (before you left to check sighting in wood) Good on Tiga!

>>> Sedge: PLEASE may we have a reunited photo when you have time for it all to sink in???
I am sure all the people who have been following the progress of your search
would love to see one.

Welcome home Dylan! I am sure you will be smothered in kisses and hugs from Sedge and the family, especially the boys who will hopefully now be able to enjoy the last few days of their half term!

Dylan has been found! Thanks everyone for your help...it seems he was still in the Vines Cross / Horam area and he is now on his way home

Matt Ely is a friend of mine - he is already aware. His partner is going out shortly to search and Matt is planning on running a lot of those footpaths when he gets home from work later:-)

Linda WESTCOMBE is communicator for the Riding Club in that area (Battle RC) tel 01323 831673 Horse riders are always good for looking out as they cover a lot of ground in the countryside, will use the Cuckoo Trail and so on as well as having a higher vantage point.

Well worth someone contacting these people (phone no's are in the public domain, so I am happy to add them here).
valpark
I would suggest Dylan is not near the cuckoo walk but hitting the back road or farmland from Vines Cross to old heathfield area.More posters good news anywhere in the area.
valpark
Hook Lane is near Nettlesworth Lane which goes from Vines x to Heathfield and Dylan may well be going back to Heathfield area.Last edited: 2014-05-29 11:49:49 by valpark

Dylan may well have travelled from Heathfield Park down Park Rd to Vines cross. If he goes south through the back roads/lanes he may reach Cowbeech.
I have made phone calls/ e mails to residents in horam/cowbeech/waldron.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I have been in contact with my friend who lives in Vines Cross - she hadn't heard of Hook Lane either but we have come to the conclusion that it is not technically a lane that you can drive down, but a track that turns into a footpath that then meets with various footpaths. If he was heading "towards" Hook Lane, it could mean that he is heading back Heathfield way. I'd love to know which route he took to get to Vines Cross as he would have had to have done quite a lot on the roads to get anywhere rural which must mean that people saw him - it was the middle of the day in Heathfield - there are always people around!!The cuckoo trail needs some posters (Maynards Green)and also Sapperton Wood as the footpaths do all meet up there opposite the school. My friend is going out a bit later for a scout around.Last edited: 2014-05-29 11:26:26 by Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex

No area is too big for Dylan - he is obviously travelling but doesn't seem to be running scared. Tiga picked up the scent from the kennels and then headed towards Lewes, we then got a call about a sighting in Heathfield, so we accosted a very nice lady who 'happened' to stop where we were and she kindly took us to Heathfield (thank you Maureen). We then spent the rest of the day searching a 300 acre park, only to get a message that there was a sighting on the Lewes Road where we were at 1.00 a.m. Sunday morning. If this latest sighting in Vines Cross is Dylan then as I say he is covering a huge area and not unrealistic for him to eventually try and get home although at the moment in the wrong direction. Maybe a greater range of email alerts can go out. I have pinked my comment below as this post duplicated itself.Last edited: 2014-05-29 11:56:11 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker

Friend in Vines Cross is taking her dog for walk to search.Hook lane is "just up the road from garage".I have printed and laminated posters and will place them round vines cross and heathfield.Dylan could be as far as Cowbeech by now if he took to the fields. As previously posted ..the postmen around this area are brilliant and hope they have been contacted.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Thank you valpark. I am trying to clarify name of lane where he was spotted as i am not aware of a Hook Lane in Vines Cross so i'm still none the wiser where the sighting was!
valpark
Contacted garage. No sightings. They are putting word out.Rang Foresters estate agents..they are on the look out as travel round area.
Sedge
The sighting happened around 4:30 yesterday - he approached a man walking his dog and then ran off towards Hook Lane when approached. Sounds like it could be Dylan.
valpark
I am trying contact Laurence at the garage Vines Cross who will put out the word and watch out for Dylan. The postmen are good source of information.have they been contacted? The area is rural and they are the best dog spotters .

TK - i believe the dog was only sighted.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Really lovely to meet Jennie and Tiga yesterday - what an amazing lady and amazing dog. They literally walked from 9am until 8pm last night!! Sadly no further sightings where he was spotted yesterday....i think we were all so excited but now feeling a bit deflated again....i so wanted yesterday to be the day. My sister and I had one more look around the wood he was last seen last night but nothing:-( It is feasible that Dylan could have got to Vines Cross but he would certainly have been seen as he would have had to cross the main road and travelled on several roads to get there (even if he travelled cross country at times). I am unable to be too hands on for a couple of days so if anyone can offer to help with postering i know that Dylan family would be extremely grateful. I think that Heathfield needs to be saturated with posters, but also Old Heathfield, Horam, Vines Cross & Warbleton now as well, if the sighting was that of Dylan. The landlords of both The Star at Old Heathfield & The Brewers @ Vines Cross are very doggy people and would more than certainly display a poster. I think a big thank you needs to go to Clarkey too who has twice travelled over from Hastings to search. x
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Oh please let it be Dylan.... was the dog only sighted, or caught ..?

hi a dog matching the description of Dylan lost in cross in hand was given to me yesterday in vines cross the dog was decried as a cream prick eared irish wolf hour cross. but if he has been clipped could be him not known in this village so has obviously travelled.

details passed onto owner and local co-ordinator.

A gentleman spotted Dylan at 1am on Monday morning alongside the Lewes Road at the back of Cross-In-Hand. Tiga also picked up Dylan's trail on the same road so he seems to be still in the area albeit marking a large territory. Really positive news today so let's hope we can rescue him soon. Thanks for all the assistance as ever...

Once again thanks to all who are commenting & following the search for Dylan. Great to see how much support this lovely family have from the super local community and others.
TK .. thanks for your help and going all the way out to search.

>>> Was just finishing work this morning & suddenly got call from Zoe re sighting in private woods! Was so pleased that someone has at last seen the boy! Lots of texts & calls from Zoe to owner & JB who had been tracking nearby. They dashed over to Co-op car park and off they went. I will leave JB to update on the tracking.

*** Many thanks to the owner of the private woods that Dylan was sighted in for giving permission for them to go in there .. very kind of you ***

I went over but just missed them at the car park so went & had another look around tennis courts/rugby field & also along private road by woodyard next to the woods. Then went up to the kennels who have also helped with postering and leaving food etc in place that Dylan can go if he returns to kennels.
JB and owner met me there and then I joined them tracking in the woods again. I had to leave about 7'ish but left Zoe and her sister with JB and owner who were going to go back to where the sighting was.

>>> Just before I left there was news of another sighting in early hours of Monday .. I will leave Sedge to post about that one as not sure of details.
So now we know a couple of places that Dylan has been .. a good day and hopefully this will give the family a boost and they will feel more positive.

sighting sounds positive. Power of posters. Fingers and paws crossed.

Thanks for information Zoe.
I was going to say a GSD are good with their noses.
Also just read there is a siting.
I do hope if they see him they approach carefully.
As he is probably very confused.
Maybe sit or crouch down with food.
Plus Gently call his name .
Just so he doesn't think he is getting told off.
Fingers crossed for him.

Drove up from Battle this am, parked at Rugby club, walked around in the woods at back of rugby club & came out by church.... was only aware of sighting at co op as we were heading back down to Battle, as had to head back to collect daughter... everything crossed x

DYLAN HAS BEEN SIGHTED :-)

I had a text at lunchtime to say that he'd been sighted in a friends wood - unfortunately she couldn't get anywhere near him:-( But we at least know where he is and actually he hasn't ventured very far from where he went missing. He has also been sighted in the Coop car park. Dylans owners are there and searching the woods. I have absolutely everything crossed that they find him soon. Will be back up there after work if needed. Sorry, edited to say all these sighting are in Heathfield.Last edited: 2014-05-28 13:27:49 by Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex

Driven through back roads to Hailsham. No sightings.Thought good move to take poster to ask and put up in post office sorting offices. The local postmen in Sussex are brilliant and they know what is going on in rural areas round cross in hand.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Patlucky - i travel through Stonegate every morning to get to work - we've put a couple of posters up en-route and know Dylans owners have driven the back lanes from Heathfield to Stonegate so it is an option, but not a route he would know or has ever been walked. To be honest, its really only about 13-15 miles between the two places so is more than do-able but i don't know how good a dogs sense of direction is?
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
TK - thank you very much for your offer of help. I think that the owners are in the area at the moment with the tracker dog. If she can give somee idea of direction that he might have headed then it will give us all somewhere to focus on. I think they would be very grateful of any help possibly when we have something to work on. I will be out of circulation from Friday to Monday as i have a family funeral on Friday then doing an overnight charity bike ride on the Saturday night in Windsor so an extra pair of hands would be invaluable. If you are in Buxted would you be able to put up a poster at the station and also the pubs please? And Buxted Park please? I have a couple of spare laminated ones or am sure that if you phone the number on the poster you could meet Dylans owners in heathfield somewhere this morning. Thank you again. x
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Heart were very helpful a little while ago with a local missing dog ...if I remember right.
Have to drop my daughter off in Battle shortly, will drive on to cross in hand & have a walk around... will keep eyes peeld on way up from Battle.... I dont have mobile internet, my number is 07929648556 in case there is anywhere in particular you want me to look.....
BigGSDPatlucky
Just another thought he has not found his way home has he.?
BigGSDPatlucky
Some newspapers and radio are not very helpful.
Guess they feel help one have to help all.

In this case I think this story would be considered .
It is well worth a thought.
I feel for the owners with my fingers crossed.
Hope he will soon be home.

Just to confirm what Clarkey has said. Dylans owners have been amazing over the past few days - they were in the area most of the day yesterday and then came back last night to go back to the kennels and drive around all the back lanes. It has been very hard for us all to know where to centre the search as we ultimately don't know which way he headed off. We have concentrated on a wood that he potentially would have gone into from the last place he was seen but his family have walked round and round, calling and calling him, for the past four days so you would like to think he'd have made an appearance if he heard them and was still in there. There are posters on all accesses to the wood and know that people will be walking in their on a daily basis, so again, you'd think he would have appeared at some stage if he was in there. My sister came over with her dog last night and we walked the bridleway opposite where he was last seen - there is a lot of vast wooded areas which are all private so very hard to actually look in there but we did a circular walk and saw nothing. We took a poster into Stuart Ford Fencing and English Woodlands so they are looking out for him now. My thought is that he may have taken shelter in a quiet outbuilding somewhere but it is a rural area so again, just too many places to look. He may even have moved further away....without a sighting we just have no idea. I have suggested postering all the cars in all the car parks in Heathfield. I have contacted a farmer i know in the area and have asked him to let other farmers know as well. I have also suggested an article in the local paper as well. Hopefully Tiga will give us an idea which direction he headed.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Valpark, I'm not sure why it happens but sometimes if you just share on fb from this page the picture doesn't come up, but if you 'view poster' then you can link it to facebook and the photo always shows. Is it JB and Tiga going today? Best pair for the job! Keeping all crossed and have informed as many colleagues etc from that area as possible x
valpark
I have put this on facebook several times. It would help a great deal if Dylans photo could be on the post.People would take more notice if they knew what he looked like.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thank you everyone for commenting and making suggestions. Thanks also for sharing and continuing to let people know Dylan is still missing.

>>> Dylan was only in the kennels 1/2 nights and he is not familiar with area. Sedge and his family have been more than proactive .. they have been searching with their 2 young lads every day from the time Dylan went missing (I and Zoe joined them on Sunday.. gave lots of advice etc) Posters have been and still are being given out. A long list of vets and rescue centres have been emailed by the owners and dog wardens in the area have been alerted and are aware.
As there have been no sightings reported at all we have no idea where Dylan has headed off to. I have asked for help from tracker dog. They will be going there today and hopefully get clues as to direction he went in. GOOD LUCK!

I have posted the link to this page on Uckfield FM's facebook page. Really hope there is some news very soon of this lovely dog.

Is there a local radio station or local newspaper that can do a bit on Dylan..? Just wondering if people could be asked to check garages, sheds, out buildings. In case he has been locked in somewhere or hiding from weather & due to him being shy..? Is it possible tracker dog maybe able to help ..? Had he been at the kennels long, has he been before & familiar with them - maybe he might try to head back there, are they looking out for him in case he does go back, maybe a crate & some familiar clothing etc could be left outside the kennels So hoping he is found safe very soon .. connorbrighton
Any idea which direction he headed in from the boarding kennels? Could he have gone down the road towards Lewes/Brighton? Have you rung Raystede/Kit Wilson and any other local animal rescue places? Would it be worth contacting BN postcodes just in case?
connorbrighton
Has anyone contacted the farmers/owners of farm buildings in the area? How about local taxi companies to keep an eye out? This is not a good time for this poor boy to be loose, he will be cold and scared, and there are lambs in the fields. Anyone organising a search?? I am out of the area but have shared on FB. Best to search proactively rather than leave it to the goodwill of passersby. Am sure there will be plenty of local support willing to help out.
Sedge
It's a rural area so plentiful farm buildings around. There are plenty of posters up so we really are reliant on people's goodwill and hoping someone sees him soon
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Don't know the area, but just wondering, are there any farm buildings nearby where he may be hiding, may be sheltering from rain & feel secure in a barn etc... ?
Paddy
Have been looking in the area - Hope he is found soon - Reward offer might tip the scales - Bearing in mind the Heathfield Show was on!!!

My wife went up to Heathfield market this morning and handed out posters / spoke to people there. Many were already aware but still no sightings. I have spoken to the dog wardens and they have had no reports yet either. Thanks all for the continued support.

Although I am in TN38 my work sometimes takes me to Burwash and Burwash Weald so have packed some tins of sardines in my car and will keep an eye out for him......good luck to you all

Another great days work from Dylan's family and Zoe .. and not to best weather to search or poster in either. You are doing absolutely everything you can and certainly hope your efforts will be rewarded soon.

I've advised to poster imbetween Cross in Hand and Stonegate just in case Dylan tries to make his way home. Also you mentioned to Zoe that you had walked the Cuckoo trail sometime in the past it would be worth postering along there too.
As there have been no sightings then maybe someone has Dylan and is waiting to report to DW tomorrow and/or take to a vets to be scanned. Will be waiting and hoping.

>>> Zoe .. Once again, many thanks for helping the family .. I know how invaluable it is to have someone who knows the area on hand and to give support.Last edited: 2014-05-26 20:23:20 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

It helps so much and you do not feel so alone.
I so hope Dylan is found soon.
Fingers crossed for him to be home soon.

Thanks Zoe and thank you so much for your help over the past couple days. Unfortunately still no news and no sightings that we know of so v difficult to know where to look. Hoping that we will get some news once the vets / wardens are back at work tomorrow.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Dylan's owners are back in Cross in Hand again today with some friends and their dog. I postered at Selwyns Wood and some of the back lanes between Heathfield, Waldron & Cross in Hand. Also put a poster up at the entrance of the woods at the Coop. I saw lots of people riding and walking dogs on my travels so accosted all of them and gave them a poster! Some already knew about Dylan and some not. I took a poster into the Heathfield Coop. Hoping today brings some much needed news, either a sighting or someone who's picked him up. I have suggested postering Jewsons in Heathfield when they open tomorrow and also Hockley Surfacing who were really helpful when another dog went missing in our area. Dylan's owners are a credit to him and I really hope all their hard work pays off. Very hard to know where to focus on at the moment when there has not been a sighting since he went missing :-(
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Have shared on fb, Am in TN37, so not very local, but hoping friends of friends will share..... do hope he is soon found ..
BigGSDPatlucky
Please god let him be found soon.
Bad enough to lose a dog.
Worse when they escape from boarding kennels.
Fingers crossed here

This is Dylan's owner. We had some great help from Clarkey and Zoe today in searching the area he was last seen and have begun postering. No sign of Dylan though unfortunately. If you are in the Heathfield, Horam, Broad Oak area or surrounding then please keep an eye out for him as all the family miss him . He is fairly timid so unlikely to approach people but he has never done anything like this before (he is 5). He is likely to be able to cover reasonably large distances but doesn't know the area so could be heading in any direction.Last edited: 2014-05-25 21:39:16 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

I have spoken to Dylan's owners .. they were searching last night and putting posters thru doors in area he was last seen. They have been there again all morning looking in the woods and will carry on all day.. posting posters thru local people's doors, shops, pubs etc. People hv even bn coming up to them asking if they hv seen a white GSD so the word is out!! Have given some more advice re looking for place he has slept and what to do if they see him and he does not come straight to them. Oh and he likes sardines .. so hv said to arm themselves with some! Apparently he does like to go to other dogs when they walk, so someone may be able to get him that way.
Come on Dylan .. show yourself so you can go home.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Zoe: That's brilliant. Thanks for your help. This page was only registered y'day evening, so I expect owners were searching and didn't have posters done so no-one would have known who to contact if they had seen Dylan. Also if he is very scared he may be holed up somewhere quiet. Those are good suggestions of where to search Glad word is getting around .. as you say it should be easy to spot him. I think it's important for owners to check with all dog wardens in surrounding areas just in case he has been picked up and taken home by someone..hopefully they will report finding him (as is required by law)and/or check him for his microchip. I will find out from owners what they are doing about posters and contact you.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I have been out most of the morning on my bike. This is my area - have cycled round all the surrounding lanes and seen nothing. You would think that someone would have seen him yesterday as there would have been a lot of traffic for the Heathfield show. I didn't see any posters up on my travels. I did speak to a couple of horse riders who had heard about him through facebook so the word is spreading. I am more than happy to poster locally but I don't have a printer. I'd suggest searching the woods behind the rugby club/behind the church. I know the owners of Isenhurst Wood so will get I contact with them.i have shared Dylan's details on facebook and will also email his poster to all my local contacts. I really hope there is some good news today.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Gino.
I have advised owner to poster everywhere. Have posted link to this page on to loads of Heathfield Fbk pages.. H Runners, H Free site, H Selling/swap page as well as Heathfield Show page. As it was the Heathfield Show yesterday and there were a lot of people from outside the area around H'field. I'm hoping someone saw Dylan (or even picked him up)and that we will get some much needed information today.

Have just had this from Dylan's owners .. "Dylan is not in an area he knows. He was boarding at a kennels in Cross in Hand and managed to get out. He is likely trying to head home but we live in Stonegate so he won't know the way home"
Comment on post on DL SE says he was seen on road this morning Cross in Hand .. and above it says near tennis club / rugby pitches.Last edited: 2014-05-24 23:22:33 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

I have emailed to see if we can have some more information. Not sure if Dylan's owner or the kennels have registered this page. Also asked if Dylan is in an area he knows and where his home is.
Have turned photos around .. you may have to refresh page to see!
Should be easy enough to spot though and let's hope he is found very soon. Last edited: 2014-05-24 21:27:07 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
