Subject: Information needed

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found in Cowie in a neglected state.

We were alerted after the male collie was discovered on Thursday (8 May).

The dog, estimated to be under a year old, was found sitting on a pile of builder's rubbish on Burns Terrace, between the miners club and playing fields.

Inspector Louise Seddon said, "The dog's hind legs are extremely weak due to muscle wastage, suggesting he may have been kept in a small, confined space for long periods of time.

"As he was barely able to stand when he was found and kept slumping down, it was originally thought he had been hit by a car.

"His coat was also very matted and heavily stained with urine and faeces.

"Unfortunately, our enquiries have not yet resulted in any leads so we are asking anyone who recognises this dog and knows who may have owned him to contact us as soon as possible.

"The dog is now receiving the care he deserves and we are hopeful he will make a full recovery."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
