Whatever is happening to this country! Those poor dogs and their owners having been through all that before being reunited - all cases are not the same and should be dealt with accordingly.
So pleased these fur babies are back where they belong. Keep safe Florie & Milo.

hands up who paid? tx

What a relief So happy for both the dogs and the owners to be heading home. I agreed Hazel there must be more done to help people who clearly love and care for their dogs to pay the fees in installments if need be.

I am so, so relieved these two little babies are reunited.....I think each Council should have another review of their system where an owner comes forward but cannot pay the release fee....it's like the difference between wilful refusal and culpable neglect...you try to find a way to they can pay...like fines we find ways to help people pay otherwise we make them pay.....why can't we do this with release fees...dogs are not chattels (even France has now changed their law to acknowledge this!)...dogs have feelings and for many a pound is stressful ...we should treat them with more respect when it come to the money side of the detail....dogs now have more say in divorce law to acknowledge their standing ...so why not with release fees...I really think its time to review this element of the process
So back to these 2 babies...stay safe, keep close and big hugs from me xx

What wonderful news. It is so sad when owners are unable to pay a release fee and face losing their beloved pets.
Red Alert
Great news :)

Great - thanks for the updates - xxx

Vets get scanning have tweeted that someone has paid the fee and these two are going home. Brill.
Bo
Ooooh - Would be amazing if that's true. I haven't rung Helen as above to confirm but if Karis can check the Yorkshire lost and found as below ref Haley Hammond that would be great. The Yorkshire FB group is a closed group so I can't have a look to see the update. I cross posted from Fur and feathers Facebook page. Any update Karis? X

I think a call to Doncaster County Council might be worth a try ....common sense tells me the DW Dept should phone the owners to let them know what the rescue home are keen to do....if the DW Dept don't like the idea of losing out on their pound fee, then I'm sure we as the public will all donate to pay them off.....sometimes you have to see the bigger picture and the perception, important in this situation to show compassion which many DW Depts have in abundance....it cannot be all about the money when dogs and owner are in the middle stressed ....Let's just get them home xx
DogLostNina
I was wondering if H.O would consider sending out email alerts to the post code they wete found in, in the hope thye may reach people that know them
Chris63
So hope these beautiful dogs can go back to their owner. Let common sense prevail, reiterate all the comments already said. X

Could the rescue not scan the microchip and trace the owner the same way the pound did? Even if it's an out of date phone number the address could be current or at least traceable.Last edited: 2014-05-11 14:43:37 by fionap58

Im lost for words at the stupidness of this situation. These obviously well loved and cared for dogs have been put through all this stress because of money. Well done to the rescue for trying to reunite them. The costs can only be what someone else would be paying to rehome them. I would donate to see them back with their owners. I wish these people at the pound would learn to put the dogs interests first.

Total madness, surely the pound could contact the owners and refer them to the rescue. It's a sad situation when there are so many unwanted and dumped dogs in the pounds being PTS, and they won't help two obviously well cared for pets get back home. I'm disgusted.

How frustrating. Am willing to help with any costs to ensure these two poppets are reunited

Well said susieq666, and thanks weimlover for tweeting. Hope these two are back with their owners soon. Will donate if needed to help reunite them. Paws, and fingers xd.

This is ridiculous. Do hope the owners can be traced and get these two beauties back xxx
susieq666
Data protection is an excuse for all sorts of stupidity. Let's just hope the rescue doesn't rehome them just yet and that the pound uses some common sense. (Unless the owners didn't want them, of course...)They're an adorable pair. Hope they stay together.

Cassie - yes its crazy. Last edited: 2014-05-11 12:03:53 by Bo

This is ridiculous. There is nothing stopping the pound contacting the owners themselves, they don't have to disclose the information to anyone surely????

Tweeting appeal for owners....hope these babies are reunited soon x
Bo
Florie and Milo were found straying together in Doncaster - both micro chipped by telephone number out of date. They were taken to the local pound and the owners contacted but the owners could not afford the release fees. Obviously well cared for and loved. The pound released these 2 old dogs to a rescue. Due to data protection the rescue could not be told where the owners live. The rescue want to return the dogs to their owners. Please can anyone who may know these people contact Helen as above.
