Has there been any more developments on Mika? I think she should be back with her original owners: it`s only right
Laura
This is so sad, I really hope that mika is reunited with her original family. If I was in this situation I would be truely heart broken. Xx

CorbiereW, yes what a great idea. Appeal in Sunderland paper! fantastic. I'll tell owner. Its just such a shame that Mika got adopted so quickly. Thank you. x

CorbiereW. thanks for the info: you do a great job. Good idea to put an appeal in Sunderlands local paper. Perhaps it could be put on a local radio station too.
? Paws xd.

As someone very involved in trying to save the staffies in our local pound/s in East Anglia, I can see very easily how Mika could end up a long way away from where she was lost. Pound pullers try every rescue and esp every staffie rescue available, when a dog is at risk of being pts (ie when its 7 days are up) - and if a rescue space is found then a transport run is arranged via one of the Facebook based services (eg Animal Team, for whom I transport) to get that dog to safety - even if it has to go to the other end or side of the country.
I think the best way to reach the adopting family is via an appeal in Sunderland's local newspaper. It shouldn't be hard for this adoptive family to find another staffie after all - every pound is full to bursting of them. I've spend all day cross-posting staffies in danger of being pts on Monday, if we can't find a rescue space for them somewhow over the w/e - and it's not looking good. Every rescue is full, as is every pound :( Last edited: 2014-06-01 00:54:41 by CorbiereW

Bo, you might have a point there! That is very possible too. Sometimes people steal or keep a dog and later find they can't cope and dump the dog. Also, you get those who travel taking dogs they find and sometimes they escape or are dumped. But, yes, Bo that is another thought. Thank you. Also, we on here are all aware of the need to microchip, but sadly many owners really do not even think about it because they don't know the things we know. All of us on DogLost have seen so much, but before we were here, did we know how much a chip was needed? Probably not. That is why we must keep spreading the word. We are the evangelists of the dog world. So hoping both Mika and her owner can get through this. I have advised some things to do. x

Caz. You could be right about Mika`a new owners being unaware of these appeals. I dont do facebook myself, but perhaps those who do will be kind enough to share. This situation should never have happened.

As some have already mentioned this sad case does highlight the importance of MICROCHIPPING YOUR DOG.
Caz
Terrible situation for Mika & her devastated owner, Mika's adopters may not be aware of the situation or know the existence of this site therefore all the appeals to give Mika back to original owner will go unseen. maybe a FB campaign with her photo & sad story to bring it to their attention is something to consider!!!
Unknown
Yes, this is a sad situation, but it does show the importance of microchipping. I so agree with Carol, and Sallybee. Please can I ask you to hand Mika back to her original owners, who must be so distraught. I kn ow she is being looked after, but there are so many Staffies looking for homes. You will make Mika, and her original owners very happy if they can be reunited. And you will know you have done the correct thing by giving her back. Please do what you know is right. THANK YOU.

Thank goodness Mika is safe and will be looked after....yes very sad for original owner but highlights the importance of microchipping pets to show they belong....as Bo says ...other dogs sadly are not so fortunate as Mika xx
Fiona
Oh this is so sad, but at least you know she is ok, Hopefully the new owners can be contacted and pleaded with. Oh how i wish all dogs were microchipped.
Bo
There is a network of people who drive up and down the country taking due PTS pound dogs to rescue spaces so that's probably how Mika ended up miles away from where she was found. She's one of the lucky ones. Many get killed as rescues are full of bull breeds and rescue spaces are hard to find.

Can't really ad anything to sallybee's logical comment below, except there are otehr nice Staffies needing good homes, new home will not have bonded with her yet......
sallybee
I can't imagine how upsetting it must be to find your dog missing because of the fence blown down, spend several weeks searching everywhere and then find someone has driven it all the way to Sunderland for it be rehomed there? This is tragic and heartbreaking, and to me, a bit odd. Poor Mika will be missing her family as much as they are missing her surely whoever has now got her, can out of the goodness of their hearts return her to family? Please.Last edited: 2014-05-31 00:24:38 by sallybee
Carol
Hope the new owners have a heart and give her back , that poor owner I would be devastated please have a heart xxxx

Owner confirmed. Mika was taken miles from home to Sunderland and after serving 7 days has been rehomed! How absolutely heartbreaking! How can people do this to a poor dog and her family? New owners and Rescue are not to blame -but if new owners or those connected, are reading this, suppose it was your dog, how would you feel? Original owner has had far longer with his dog than you have yet and it hurts that much more. Can you find it in your heart to give Mika back and find another fur baby to call your own? We all know it was only the fault of the person stealing Mika and you are all victims in this. Please do the right thing, if you hear this. Thank you. x

Ohhh, that sounds very sad. I don't know? Maybe they were too late? They can still try but wonder what happened? x

Bless her, she looks lovely. I hope she will soon be home safe and sound.

If you can, print off as many posters as possible and get the area flooded with them. Posters can help.

Will share her to Pup's page as its all I can do except hope x
