While googling to try to check whether he'd been reported lost anywhere else I came across this blog
http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/day-3-bull-bay-to-borthwen.html
So looks like he's been caught. Just hope he gets a home - don't have much trust in the rspca

First place and second were about a mile apart. It's a large area of very rough terrain (crags, hollows, steep slopes, sea cliffs) with only 3 access points along paths off a very minor road with virtually nowhere to park - so even getting a trap into the area would be difficult. Both times I was with a few feet of him before I saw him/he saw me because the ground is so uneven and rocky, so he just startled and legged it both times and vanished. I also live about an hour's drive away and work full time so I can't go out again until Sunday, but I'll try to take some food for him again then.

Thanks everyone for your help. Really pleased, Ray, that you've got involved. I was going to contact you today anyway. Hope this poor dog can be caught soon

hi sarah, i say the same to you, if you can find more details re the lurcher in south wales, i will attempt to organise catching it,it,s not fair for these dogs to live like this..what happens when they become ill or injured?? where ,s the next feed coming from?? do your best.. thanks. these lurchers are one of the best natured crossbreeds ever created..they need all the help we can give them.. and DOGLOST UK people are the best people to administer that help good luck..

well done 12, if theres any chance of you dropping some good food near to where this poor thing was seen curled up,and covering it up with a bit of old carpet or sacking so crows etc can,t pinch it and form a feeding station, out of intrest was the first place seen curled up the sasme as the second? if a pattern can be organised i can get a suitable cage trap to the spot and hopefully catch this one.. it,s important that you do not call this dog , act as though you have,nt seen it, let it see you throw food wrapped in paper as though you are throwing your chip or McDonalds food away, then retreat, taking away any threat,s.. hopefully it feels secure there and will return to see what you have left, good luck and hope it responds so we can help you to catch it....why do lurchers get such a RAW deal??

Thanks Sarah. Drove back again today to see if he (or she) was still there. He was (so not just a local dog taken himself for a walk) but near Porth Wen this time. He was curled up in the bracken in a sunny, sheltered spot off the track and again simply moved away as soon as I got near - not even close enough to tempt with some food - then disappeared. Really struggles going uphill but knows his way around.
Sarah
I have shared around the North Wales lost dog sites so hopefully more people in that area will pick up and share more locally as well. There is another Lurcher loose and living rough in South Wales as well and has been for about 4 months. A real shame. x
