Well, it's been a year now since Pippin went. We took in a black sort of lab in January who was very wild - but has calmed down quite a bit! Richie advised me that it was time to move on and we have, but I feel very tearful as I write this. Thanks so much for keeping on looking. I now feel terrible that I gave up. Jayne rang me tonight and said that dogs still get found years after. I am going to be sensible and just check once a week and not let it take over my life again. I just hope that she is safe and well looked after - If whoever has her reads this and would consider giving her back, they would be recompensed for any expenditure they have incurred on her behalf. Thanks everyone! JacquiLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunatley the dog wasn't Pippin, however Pippin's owners took pity on her and have taken her in. The details will be going on the found page, obviously if this dog belongs to someone else, Pippins owners want to track them down.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Jayne, I have had a possible lead on Pippin tonight. A couple have out on trial a black Labrador bitch with a spot on the tongue. They have sent me pictures and it could be her. She has come from a rescue home in Worcester and they are taking her back tomorrow morning. I am contacting them first thing and going to see them Please wish me luck as this is the first positive news I have had since she left!! Hope you and yours are well...........Fingers and paws crossed for you and Pippin! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you checked Hilbrae Kennels, it's the stray dog pound for Telford and Newport and takes in dogs from the dog warden and police? Webiste says it has upto 70 dogs at any one time. Tel: 01952 541254.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On www.dogpages.org.uk, the lost and found dogs page, there is a female black labrador found stray/roaming on the 19th November 2006, in Coleshill, Warwickshire. Approx 3-4 years old. Apparently this girl is quite fat, (unkike Pippin in the photo) but worth checking out just in casexxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jax, I'm sure you've given Pippin'd details to the Dogs Trust in Roden, Shropshire, but have you tried Kenilworth too? Not sure if they hold details centrally or not. Also worth contacting Birimingham Dogs Home if you haven't already. Have you thought of combining forces with the other owners of lost labs in your aread and contacting the Metro, it's a free newspaper given out at train stations in Birmingham and Coventry and on busesxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jax, You will see her one day.I can imagine that you feel that time has gone on now but just look through the site there is dogs missing fro much longer. You have been so strong throughout and so has harleys owners.Have you tried the local news and radio and getting together with the owner of the other 2 labs.It makes you wonder if these dogs could have been taken by the same people. My heart goes out to you because i know how hard you have tried to find pippin, but please stay positive and i hope one day you will be reunited.Love diane.xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still no news, Jenny. My daughter Pippa has just been up as we have to say goodbye to Brandy shortly. Three dogs to one in such a short time! Not quite sure whether to get another companion for Bugle or to still hang out for Pippin. When the owners came to fetch the wandering spaniels that turned up at our door, they all knew about Pippin and had been keeping an eye out. She was clearly picked up close to us and taken miles away and they have kept her. I think really, we shall never get her back now. It's a tough decision to make. Speak soon. hi jax sorry i have not been in contact but firstly my computer was being mended and also i cant find your number as evrything is upside down at home as my daughter is moving in readiness for her 6month trip abroad. i followed up your call to avondale but with no luck. even the dog warden barry brought me a lab the other day who looked just like harley but it wasnt. (he was really lovely, and thankfully was reunited with his owners). so that was good. we must get together and have a chat about crime watch etc..., because if we give up now what was the point. i miss harley like mad and i know you feel the same way about pippin, they say its been 3 months now and life goes on, but, we love our dogs and want them back. our dogs have been stolen and that is a criminal offence (like stealing a car etc..) they are our property and we want them back. lets see what we can do. lots of love jenny xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone. Thanks for your good wishes Diane and thanks Tori for all the new info. I shall get on to it right now! Thanks so much for your further help with all this. Brandy's back legs are beginning to go - I wish Pippin was back before she may have to leave us. So sad... I am afraid she has rather lost it since Pippin went. Still she is a good age. Her sister died six years ago! Someone has left me a private message on the 23rd and I could not access it and now it seems to have blipped off. I must have pressed the wrong button. Could you re-send to me because I have not read it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Jax, sorry that there is no news about your lovely Pippin yet. Might be worth checking http://www.epupz.co.uk and http://www.findit.co.uk/pets/dogs, as they both list adult dogs and puppies for sale all over the country, with and without KC papers. Can also list a dog as missing on Findit.co.uk. Hope there is some good news soonxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi jax tried to ring you tonight , im not going to have the use of my computer for the next week and wondered if you would check my emails on this site for me and let me know of any developments. i have also spoken to lucys owner and said maybe we could do a story in the shropshire star about all 3 of our labs , give me a call and we will try and sort out a meet up with him and dave from the shropshire star. speak to you soon love jennyxxx. also when rich says what he says about pippin hes just being a supportive manjust like mine does and trying to think logically, but we are the more sensative genda and need to go all the way, hes just as sad as you really but wants to be a strong fella and i think thats ok, but us looney women will just not give up and thats good too. so lets crack on darlin and prove these lovely men wrong. haha. love jenny xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have called the people and the owners have already been found. Thank you so much though. It's so good to know that people are still looking out for us. Have contacted Jenny, so hopefully we shall be working together now to look for Harley, Pippin and now Lucy in this area. Thanks so much. I have had two calls today, so the posters are still working!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How about having some badges made with Pippin's picture on them, the fact she is lost and the doglost number? Give them out on market days, to school children, dog walkers ect. Also could have balloons with Pippin's picture on them and hand them out. Might also be worth sending a fresh batch of posters out to vets in a wider area and send more mini posters out. Pippin is out there somewhere, hope she is safely home soonxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Tori, Mollymops, Vicki. Everyone. I am back and hot on the trail again. Have had two calls already, but not mine. I see a dog called Lucy has gone from Telford. She looks identical to Pippin - so shall look for both. I have lost Jenny's number and cannot find it on the site - but I have sent her an e-mail of a possible follow up lead for Harley which I received from a charming lady called Sarah, who always looks out for us. Still really upset and I think my husband has just accepted that she is not coming back - but I just cannot. There has never been a sighting of her so I know someone has her. I hated having to leave with her still not home. I am not giving up, I never will - but I have nothing to go on - I just keep hoping she will escape, but the current owner has had plenty of time to microchip her by now. But she does have the black spot on her tongue and I would go for DNA. I would buy someone a new black lab if they would just give me Pippin back. Thanks for all your continued support. Lots of love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello everyone! Finally found an internet cafe and can now keep an eye on things from Spain where I am looking after two elderly ladies. Missing Pippin and worrying that my husband has drawn a blank. This Pippin and Harley must be with someone - if only they would give them up or someone would let us know if they have seen anyone with a fairly new dog. Thanks for keeping a watch out and all the private messages. Actually can't wait to get back to resume the search. Jane, I saw a programme on you on the television on the cross channel ferry. Good to know what you look like, amazing the sacrifices you have made to keep this site going which is such a Godsend to us all. Well done! Please everyone keeep a lookout for Pippin and Harley. hi jax, well ive heard nothing . feeling really down about the whole thing. its horrible when everything goes silent. i keep looking on renegade site and have spoke to richard who is the main person (i think) on msn, he told me a few things to do which i am looking into. ive also had a message from a lady medium i contacted to say that now harley is in a family enviroment but has given me some physic tips which i will follow. i will tell you all about it when i speak to you, i know it sounds extreme, but i will try anything to get our harley and pippin back, dont think i ever forget about pippin whilst im doing all this stuff. also if i get any feedback on any other dogs i will put it straight on this site. at the end of the day were all in the same boat and i feel upset for you and i but also for everyone else who has lost there lovely pet, its just heartbreaking. will keep you updated. by the way when do you go away. love jenxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much everyone for all that you are doing. It means so much to Jenny (Harley's Mum) and I. We went to Wolverhampton at the weekend. No luck Millie Mops, we found the place you told us about. It looks a likely match. I didn't have the posters with me - but I am running some off for my husband Richie. The sad news for me is that I have to go away for a month - it's not something that I can put off because I am looking after two others. My husband Richie will still be here and he knows how to look into the site but he can't type. You can always reach him on the telephone. I am going to leave hime with a whole load of posters and we shall just keep on that way. Hopefully, I will be able to find somewhere so that I can use the internet while I am away. I just want to thank all of you for your continued supports, help and advice. It has really kept us going and I do firmly believe that Pippin, if she can escape will turn up one day. Thank youLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Diane, Thanks so much - I believe in anything if we can get Pippin back! I am very open minded. I shall have a look. I haven't looked at the website for a few days. Really very despondent as time goes on and nothing comes up. Also shocked to see that we are now on the bottom of page 4 and can't believe how many dogs have gone missing since Pippin did. So sad for everyone. Thanks so much for your help. I shall look now. I am in contact with Jenny all the time, it is even worse for her. Lots of love and thanks JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another sighting today - have posted on Harley's site! Don't think it is either of our dogs, but went to check it out. Hope the newspaper article is making people have a look - but still feel that someone has picked her up. If you have picked up Pippin and Harley and you want to return them and perhaps thought they were strays, please do contact us. It is like losing a member of your family. Not just the humans, but in Harley's case Jet, and Pippin's, Bugle and Brandy. They are extremely old and relied upon the young labs for guidance and looking after. A reward is offered from both families for the return of the dogs. Thank you. 01746 785342.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The search of the woods proved fruitless over the weekend. Don't know whether that is good or bad. Jenny, Harley's owner and I are in constant contact and trying to do as much as possible. More fliers went out today. Everyone has been informed that the dogs are still missing. We had a very nice lady called Nicky tonight who said that a black labrador with a red collar was trying to get into the pet shop in Brossley today. We shall follow that up first thing tomorrow morning and see if it is possible that it is Harley or Pippin. Thanks Tori for your continued encouragement and everyone else who checks in from time to time. Shocking to see how many dogs have gone since all this started - but encouraging to see a number reunited. Thanks all. Love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Eveyone I meet at the sales I go to say they have seen the poster up at car boots, etc. The family is here and we are going to have a big search over the weekend. Harley has been gone for over a month and Pippin now over two weeks, we hope we shall find them. Or maybe they will find us........ Without all your support I think we may have given up. Thanks! Thanks very much Vicki and Yorkiemom. I spoke to Jenny last night and she is contacting some of the press again. Posters and fliers are out - but I don't know how long people will keep them up. There have been no sightings of Pippin at all and it is drying up with Harley a bit. We need to appeal to well-meaning people who have probably picked up a stray. Although Harley is shy, Pippin is not and would go to anyone. We are formulating a plan of action on the publicity side, just in case of the above. On the other side, I am searching the woods again this weekend, my family is coming up and I shall holla if we need help. Thank you so much everyone. Much appreciated. love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had a word with some of the delivery drivers from Sainsburys to keep their eyes peeled, also in a few weeks our store is going to start delivering in Telford (Sainsburys to You Shopping service) they will be making grocery drops all over Telford and the surrounding areas they may be able to spot something, I know it is a long shot but we need to look at every opportunity that may lead us to either Pippin or Harley. Vicki, You are a star. I think I am going to do the woods again this weekend. Someone has been helping me in Ireland and he said that if a bitch was about to go on heat, they could run off for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, she will have found Harley - they could be in the woods! I don't mean to joke. I really feel that anything could have happened. More fliers are going round tomorrow and I shall just keep at it and hope to find others as well along the way. I just wish I had a sighting of her. Everything crossed! Dear Gayle, I have been onto the police and the dogwardens. Nothing has been picked up or reported in that area. Through talking to the dogwarden in Macclesfield (about a possible picking up of a black lab - not correct at all) I learnt about a chocolate lab, 5 - 6 years, barking and won't be approached in Beech Drive, Thoneyholme, Knutsford. Reported evening of 14th. I have informed Margaret of Labslost about this. Hope that this is somebody's!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog may be at the police station when my friend lost her dog that is where it ended up, There are also loads of Co-ops around here could they be a bit more precise, there are 3 by me one just over the road, one down the road and the other across the field, I will go and ask in them all later if any of them have seen a black lab.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi jax and richie, just to repeat what i told rich on the phone , a call from shrewsbury lady {no number left} saying nice lab outside co-op in shrewsbury but also a text from 07891823346 saying a black lab was found in shrewsbury area and to ring 01743 281516 , i did ring but it was council offices which were closed. ive told richie to ring salop police to find out where stray dogs are taken in shrewsbury after being picked up by dog warden. good look hope its pippin. love jenny xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jax - if there is any possibility the stray is Pippin, get scenting the area so she stays close. Try and locate stables in the local area - they have shelter, water and food easily available. Loose dogs often turn up there because they cotton on quick to the "facilities" available to them. Good luck, keep your spirits up! Dee xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Emmalou. Sorted that out. Tori, you are a wonder! I have just spoken to Jenny Harley's owner, and I have decided to do just that, because I can't get to all the houses in this valley. I have been to the obvious farms. Over the weekend, we are taking the rest of the dogs and walking on the top to two large woods where she may be. I have had absolutely no sightings though.... I am making up A5 fliers today to include Pippin and Harley's pictures.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would your postman be willing to put some mini A5 posters of Pippin in letterboxs? Maybe get more ground covered. I wonder if your local sorting office would let other postman do the same thing? Hurry home soon PippinxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone. Just when I was getting rather despondent, I come back and there are all your messages! I searched the area where we had a tipoff for a sighting of Harley, but I have found nothing. So I have postered in Craven Arms, spoken to lots of children and given them posters for their recreation areas.I have e-mailed your suggestions Tori, and thanks Vicki for all the postering you are doing. Everyone in Shrewsbury knows about Pippin and Harley, thanks to you! I shall do another ring round and contact the Beacon tomorrow morning. I'm keeping a look out on my travels for all the other dogs. Thanks guys. Love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello everyone, we are back! What a day! I was just saying to Richie, I don't know how much more we can do, it's like looking for a needle in a hastack, when I come and read all your messages and I feel renewed! Thanks so much. Vicki, Tori, Thanks so much for all you are doing and your advice. I am having a day at home tomorrow working from here. So I shall e-mail and work through more lists. Thanks also for your wonderful encouragement Brodie Murphy! We went to two rescue homes today, on Sarah's advice. Thankyou! Sunnyside in Wolverhampton, and one outside Newport. Harley and Pippin and Zena are not there, we checked every kennel. I have been trying to look at all the dogs listed here, and we did not see a match. We postered more Post Offices, Countrywide Pet Shop in Bridgnorth and that big one on the way to Wolverhampton from Bridgnorth. Everyone has been so kind. No one has turned down the poster, except Bridgnorth Library!! We were at an auction tonight in Pembridge. We are antique dealers, and they announced the loss of the dogs to everyone and we gave out posters, people come from miles around to these auctions. We also followed up a lead given to Jenny (Harley's owner). Poor Jenny has injured her leg in a wood while out looking for Harley yesterday. We followed the advice of a charming lady who is convinced she has seen Harley. We did not find him (or Pippin) today, but we spoke to the gamekeepers son, left posters and we are definitely going to go back there again and see if the stray emerges later on. The lady is keeping an eye out for us. That's all really. As I say, wonderful to come back to your messages, and I shall do some more from here tomorrow! Thanks for the support. Lots of love, JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your kind wishes Roz and thanks so much Vicki. I have done the vet in Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock (and also the police in those areas) It's great to know you are covering Shrewsbury for me. We visited Gonsal R.S.P.C.A. who don't seem to have stray animals there despite amazing facilities. We went to Netley, Lilac Cottage, Roden and Hillbrae - all of whom are charming, have not had Pippin through. I also checked for Harley and looked out for Scoobie. I think I need to take a dossier of all the lost dogs with me! It's difficult to remember them all. I am going to Sunny somethingorother in Wolverhampton tomorrow - they are closed today. Roden gave me the telephone nos. of all the local dog wardens. Thanks so much everyone. I just hope Pippin isn't being badly treated. love JaxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hannah, thanks so much for posting Pippin missing. Tori, they are all great ideas and I shall get right on the case. I have been in touch with Harley's owner and she has very kindly added Pippin in with her publicity for Harley and we are going to work closely together. Hi Everyone! Thanks for continuing to be so interested and helpful. Great idea with the news coverage. We have just returned from visiting all the local farms and the farms on the other side of the hill and given them photos of Pippin. The combines are out and none of them, nor the shepherd have seen her. I am really convinced that some one has picked her up. We have posted posters to the local vet and the police station. We have rung every rescue home in the area and no black labs have arrived. The Shrophsire Radio have announced the loss twice. There is an elderly black bitch with a red collar at Bishops Castle Veterinary - if that helps anyone. I really hope if someone has her, their conscious gets the better of them soon! Two spaniels, golden lab are all pining here as well as us! Thanks so much to all of you - and I'm sorry you can't open the pictures. I shall try and turn my virus thing off - but I am not so hot at computers! We have been to the two most extreme parts of our walk, had the car engine on, called, let the other dogs out. Left some smells - no sign. All sheep look thoroughly undisturbed!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

perhaps its a silly idea!! but could you Jax and Harleys owner and Scoobys owner 23/7 not get together over this with photos of your black labs with red collars and do some sort of media coverage with papers or tv. Call yourselves The three lost Labateers as in Muskateers I suppose it would scupper the plan when 1 or 2 of the three turn up but it just might be the edge you all need to get the publicity, Say what a coincidence it is , 3 black labs,3 red collars(you could always superimpose 1) Perhaps the heat has got me in the end!! Hi jax just anote to hopefully keep your spirits up we lost our dog Harry in june he also only had a collar and tag and no microchip he was missing for 5 extremely long days our lives went on hold the kids got fast food the house went to rack and ruin as we spent every spare minute searching for our great mate of the last 12 years it was the tremendous support from everybody at doglost that kept us going over those 5 long days then 1 more chance phone call to the police who had lost the report of our harry going missing and a very helpful officer on the phone that day and within 30 minutes we had our Harry back home!! Hi Everyone! I can't believe how kind and helpful you are all being. The fact is she was not microchipped. My Spaniel has just been done, and she was going to be next. He is deaf and cannot hear me, but she always comes when called and I did rather think that if she was taken, the person would never call into the authorities anyway. I wish I had done it sooner now. Even her red collar and name can easily be removed if need be. So, I am just relying on this enormous black spot on her tongue. I am working on a Poster now! A million thanks for this incredible support! I feel so useless.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your concern and immediate reponse. She was following a scent - but sadly this time she never returned. the neighbouring farms and shepherd are looking out for her. I am concerned that she has got into someone's car. She loves cars and is very friendly. We searched for her yesterday in case she was injured - but no luck. I do so appreciate your comments and will follow up on all you say and hope that I shall be able to help some one in the future. Thank you!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nothing guaranteed to scare you like your dog darting off when you are out on a walk and not coming back when called. Hope Pippin is found safe and well very soon. Good thing to have an identifying markxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
