Fergal's Servant: Thank you for your help, please could you keep Rollo on your radar and be aware of any collies that do turn up. Also the dog warden response is a little strange - whilst Rollo was lost in Devon, owners are from Oxfordshire.

I have received a reply from a request for info from the Dog Warden. I don't really think now that Rollo would be amongst their strays, especially with his microchip. This is the response "The Dog Welfare & Enforcement team dealt with 6 collie dogs that could have matched the basic description of male collie in April and the first three weeks of May – all of which were returned to their owners, with the exception of one that was rehomed, although the owner of that dog was known as the dog was micro-chipped, although the registered owners were not from Devon.

We are sorry that we aren’t able to offer any closure to that family, although we didn’t have any dealings with their dog."

Still lost I'm afraid. Pippa

Fergal's Servant, thank you for this information. Sadly devastated owners live a long way and have young children and jobs, so they cannot put the energy they would like into continuing to search for Rollo. I will pass on all your comments by copying in an email. There is a strong possibility that whether by land or sea he could be in Cornwall and it is so frustrating that there are so many Collies found in Cornwall and no photo's added which would mean we could identify him and let owner know.

The saving grace is that he is microchipped, but as we know they sometimes move and a quick scan does not always show them up.

You can check their stray lists historically, since 23rd May this year, on their Cornwall Business & Support page on Facebook. The list is now online on Cornwall.gov.uk under Environmental - Animal Welfare - Stray Dogs - List of Strays. Or follow this link

Bobble, did the owner check all the collie/collie cross/border collie dogs with Cornwall Warden. I have counted 15 in their lists since they have been publishing (23rd May 2014). One was Torpoint, to be collected by warden on 26th June, but it disappearaed from the list the same day - I am still looking to see if it was listed here. They will NOT speak to anyone but the owner. One has just dropped off the list today which was found Falmouth 26th June so is probably being rehomed. Another dropped off in previous list found Landrake 2/7/14. I am still checking but not easy. Also is the owner aware that Cornwall expect you to keep updating lost status to them each month or they will not inform you of a dog found.Last edited: 2014-07-11 17:28:56 by Fergal - Area Volunteer - Cornwall

I've heard no news of Rollo, really quite worrying. Anything you can do to raise awareness etc would be wonderful as owners live a long way off.

I have alerted people I know in the Torbay area and contacted the Brixham (Torbay)Lifeboat crew to look out for Rollo.

Sorry to see that ROLLO is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (67336)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
