In addition I had a call from someone in denton where sherlock first ran to. She saw a dog come off the moor which was very thin and not looking good. She said it had a collar but ran off when approached back up to high denton. Is anyone else in this area missing a dog ? Not ruling out sherlock although he had no collar he could have been caught and escaped again ? I have driven round late at night in case the dog reappears but no sign so far.
Flossy
Hi. We saw the facebook photos. Thank you so much. We are pretty sure it isn't him. The ears are totally wrong. He was also quite a reddy brown in places. I agree that the White patches etc look correct. Has anyone any idea if this dog is still being seen and where ? He looks in good condition

I only recently noticed the post by Bazil and then contacted Flossy to see she had seen it or followed up on it . I have also contacted Bazil who thinks they may have kept a photo of the found dog at Deerness kennels on their PC and are going to search to see if they did . Thank you Jayne, that's fine. I think I have been used to the FB system that just automatically tells you if there's been a post. I have had a reply from the kennels from Oct. They have no microchip matching his on their system. I have asked if they remember the dog and sent them his picture. I still believe that he is out there somewhere. :)
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
We don't have an automated new post system Flossy we ask people to regularly monitor their own dogs page as impossible for us in admin to read all posts on all dogs...and we have had almost 3,000 dogs in as missing since you posted. But as your dog is microchipped I am sure the kennels would have rung you if it was Sherlock...also keep ringing petlog and ask if anyone has scanned your dog since it went missing as they flag any enquiries on their system.
Flossy
Apologies. I was under the misconception that notifications would come through if poted on here. I am gutted to find these posts. Sadly the links no longer work so I am assuming that these dogs were reunited. Looking at the Leigh one I would think that so recent a post would still be current or he would be on their page somewhere but I will write to them. I have written to the other kennels too. Thank you. We have run articles in papers and are still thinking of ways to try and raise his profile. It's been a very difficult time as some people think it fit to bully others when misfortune hits.

Probably not Sherlock but there is a dog found in North Durham at Deerness Kennels who looks in a hell of a state. Sherlock came to mind as soon as I saw the pic. Can't see any white but the dog looks very very dirty? Here is the link....http://strayaction.com/viewpage.php?page_id=27Last edited: 2014-10-04 02:12:22 by BBKM

The dog that they have caught lives over the road from the stables. I just hope that it's not the same dog that has been seen at deerstones. It's possible Sherlock isn't here at all
Flossy
I'm gutted. They caught the dog and it's not him. After all the positive ids that I had. It's a female and not chipped. They think some kind of collie with a long brush tail like Sherlock's. Anyone registered a dog like that on here ?

Bumping for possible SIGHTING of Sherlock in the Farfield Stables area. Reported to be playing with other dogs but thin and sore around the back end . Owners are going to speak to people from the stables and discuss setting up a feeding station. They have previously been advised about the use and methods of using a trap and have one to hand for when the time is right .
Come on Sherlock it really is time you were caught !! xx
Flossy
Four weeks on and no sightings until a local had a few friends camping In his field and the children mentioned that they had seen a dog running In the field that a brown dog has been spotted before. Over night something was sniffing around their tent. No proof that it's him but this is the right area and the right field where we have previously had sightings. The BBQ may well have attracted him. We haven't given up and are doing what we can despite it being a distance.
Christine Williams
Ray Dedicoat from here should be able to offer advice. He helped catch a dog on Donna Nook who was also a rescue from abroad & very timid.
http://www.raydedicoat.com/
Flossy
Feeding station set near where there has been digging to get into the field from the beck side of the ravine. Pheasant has been eaten in this place and feathers are on both sides of the fence. Also dog matter on ravine path lower down which is not domestic food but the result of a high vegetation diet with some fur in it too. This could possibly be a dog who is living wild according to a local.
BBKM
Good luck, hope this is Sherlock and it won't be long now before he is caught and back home safe x

A major twitter campaign is underway. This is what one of the members of Help find Sherlock has Thanks Rachel. I've been searching for relevant twitter accounts in the area and posting 'at' them with the info. E.g. one of my tweets is: "@greatyorkshow v grateful for RT to #helpfindsherlock - little dog lost from Ilkley, poss just north of river Wharfe pic.twitter.com/1FwCZS1p0e" It would be great if others could tweet 'at' other relevant twitter accounts in the area, e.g. B&Bs, tourist locations, businesses, dog rescues, etc. Include the hashtag #helpfindsherlock (this groups all the related tweets together and creates a campaign). Let me know if anyone needs help!
Flossy
This dog was not Sherlock and has been reunited with it's owner. It has increased knowledge of Sherlock with West Yorks Police however. North Yorks are already trying to help as much as possible. We have posters out in all ice cream vans in Bolton Abbey area now and are targeting radio stations too
Flossy
Policewoman reported seeing a tan coloured dog walking at the side of the road at midnight when she was in the way to an emergency call. She thinks it was too big to be Sherlock. It was near the chevin in the Carlton area which makes it also unlikely.
Flossy
Trying to get the word out around the Bolton Abbey area. Also attempting to get as much info and literature out to North Yorkshire villages in case Sherlock has stayed on the move.
Flossy
Sadly all has gone quiet again. Trying to get info and posters out to as many new areas as we can.

With no sightings of Sherlock for a couple of days we are asking people to look out for him in areas further afield. If he has kept going up country he could come to the A59 and we need posters up there but also wider afield in all directions. We have people helping with searching and postering today and would be very grateful for any extra help. Please stay to designated footpaths and keep dogs on leads near livestock,
If Sherlock is sighted PLEASE do not pursue him but contact his owners immediately . At the very most if you have any food with you sit down on the and gently throw food in his direction and don't make any sudden movements, eye contact or call out to him .... Thats if he hangs around long enough for you to do this. ! Last edited: 2014-03-29 13:58:02 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Hi RAYDED !
Many thanks for your valued comments and advice and i will discuss them further with his owners . Will also send you a text tomorrow x
RAYDEDICOAT
good luck with this fella, but please please don,t use a trap that is too small!!!!. it will only put him off going near or in a proper trap.by all means put food in an open collapsing cage which will do the ground work for a trap. (tied open) it will give him confidence to enter.. also put some good food under an old towel so the crows and magpie,s don,t see and steal it, but sherlock will be able to smell it.this day and age you will have to secure the cage.. good luck.. if you have any probs getting a trap let me know..i think jumanji has my details.

Sorry to see that SHERLOCK is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (66367)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
