What a relief this lovely girl is safely back home x

I was totally thrilled today to hear that Nell was found safe and sound and was back home with her family... I am an old friend of the family and helped out with the search on Saturday and was totally blown away by the people who turned up from far and wide to help look for her... Thank goodness for the Greyhound Rescue people and their dedication... (and other friends and indeed strangers who turned out).. Bless you all xxxLast edited: 2014-03-03 20:25:37 by AshbyRockChick

keep safe Nell and make you way home now x

So pleased Nell is still close by - hope you capture her soon. Would you think about using a tracker dog? If so - or if you might - try and bag some things that smell of Nell to retain the scent. Further advice here - http://www.k9searchdog.org/

good news you have had another sighting atleast you know she isnt injured somewhere, she is perhaps laying low in the day so late evening could be the time.xx Really hope you get some good news soon

Another sighting just reported on Marston Lane near Clinton's farm at 1.30 am this morning, the caller tried to catch her but she was scared and ran back towards Marston.
P Lyon
Yes, there are posters at the school and pub, thanks . We are also going to target the areas where she's been seen with updated leaflets today, and take our other hound around too, hopefully he will wee as necessary and save us doing it, but it's a really good thought.
lolbeck
I am sorry I can't join the search but wish you every luck in the world in getting your girl home safe soon. I may be teaching you to suck eggs but have you left posters/leaflets at Abbotsholme School and The Crown? People will travel through the area to get to those places and may spot her. Also if you have positive sightings, would it help to leave articles with your scent in such places? Some people recommend actually urinating on an article of clothing as that is a scent the dog will associate with you.
Everything crossed that today brings good news.
Esther
Good luck tomorrow, fingers crossed

Around 20 volunteers - GRWE volunteers, family and friends - turned out to help us search the areas around Doveridge this afternoon. The fantastic news is that we have additional sightings: Doveridge gun club on Wednesday, Marston Montgomery Thursday, Friday and today and possible evidence of fresh dog tracks in the area between Eaton bank and Waldley. We can't be 100 % positive but this all stacks up to her still being in this area. People in the area have been fantastically kind and helpful too. She is likely to be both nervous and very hungry by now. If you do see her, and you feel able, you may be able to coax her by being very quiet and still and offering really tasty food such as chicken, sardines, sausages or even cat food. Fingers crossed. We're going to spend tomorrow out and about in the areas where she's been seen - if anyone is able to join us that would be great, just contact us on the mobile number on the poster.
Esther
Really sorry but don't think I will be able to help you search, but good luck. I will still keep putting the word out around here and around friends who farm your way.
P Lyon
Still no sign. The wonderful people from GRWE are helping me. They think she may have holed up somewhere now she is cold and tired and hungry. We are now searching farms, barns, ditches etc. We are also organising a dog search at 2pm tomorrow from doveridge. If anyone can join please can you contact me on the mobile number on the poster. All help will be so much appreciated.

Yesterday we leafletted about 250 homes and farms in the area she was last seen and round and across towards Rocester as she may have been be heading in that direction from Upwoods. We've also put up more posters in other parts of Doveridge and around Marston, Somersal & Roston. No further news.
rottie
thats good atleast it looks like she has stayed in the area, is it worth cooking some bbq food outside to try to draw her out.The portable bbq are really good
P Lyon
She was lost very close to home, and the sightings were also nearby although not where we usually walk her. P x
rottie
fingers crossed for you, was she lost far from home or was it from home ? Vicky x
P Lyon
I've been putting leaflets through letter boxes. We have 3 possible sightings of her on Upwoods Road, Doveridge on morning of Tuesday 25th Feb, and one at a farm about 2 miles further on out of the village.
Esther
Any news ?
Esther
I will take a poster to the village hall in Sutton on the Hill. There are various groups who meet there and people come from surrounding villages. How about asking Tesco in Uttoxeter if you could put a poster up in there car park, lots of people go there. Good luck
