Helen, I've just been txting with owner and learned where he was found...could he really have got that far on his own?..17 miles in less than 24 hrs?....I suspect he's been picked up which is rather worrying.Last edited: 2014-02-25 15:38:57 by Abe babe

Fantastic, got a call from owners (which was timely cos I was busting by then).
Just got back from taking down posters, short and sweet, that's how we like 'em!
Had met lots of really lovely people who were all very concerned for Rex, and managed to tell them the good news on my way back. :o)
Welcome home little man. x
SerenityPets
Thank you to everyone for your help - just heard from the owners that Rex is safe and sound at kennels in Buxhall (IP14) and they are on the way to collect him

The Phizackleas at Barrow (Pet Crem) have a lot of land on the Barrow/Chedburgh/Chevington area. I am also presuming someone has contacted the National Trust as Old Post Office Lane runs straight into the Ickworth Estate? It would be a good idea to target them with posters also. I'm always banging on about posters but thanks to Helen and a lovely friend who went out early doors as soon as we knew the posters went up and the sightings came in!

Thanks SerenityPets.
A GS on it's own will be noticed, I'm sure we'll get a sighting soon. Show yourself Rex in a safe place and remember to wag your tail!
SerenityPets
Thanks Abe babe, the numbers listed are for his owners (he's not mine) but I've let them you will be in touch - they think they met you last year when you were looking for Maisie. I called Hawkedon last night along with the vets in Bury itself, have told the owners to expand out to vets in Newmarket, Haverhill, Mildenhall & Thetford and the local shelters & kennels. I've also passed on your advice about NT and the local farmers.
I'm going to drop posters at the Bury vets & pet stores on my way in to work and will double check the dog warden has had the information passed on by the out of hours team.
Abe babe
Helen, this is very close to my post code CO10, perhaps you could send alerts here too and perhaps CB9. Rex is missing from the very same road that I helped search for a little dog a year ago.
I will go out today and help poster and search.
Serenity Pets, let Jaybeth Animal Sanctuary know in case someone spots him and rings them: 01440 786612... also, last time I emailed several businesses in Chedburgh (on the airfield business park) and they were all very helpful, also Rede Hall.
You're very near Ickworth so you could ask the NT to tell their Park Wardens etc. There's a lot of sheep in area so need to let those farmers know he's just a frightened baby, it's approaching lambing time.
Hawkedon Vets may be able to alert farmer clients? 01284 789428 and they have an equine clinic on site and a clinic in Haverhill, all good for spreading word.
I will call you later....Last edited: 2014-02-25 06:57:31 by Abe babe

SerenityPets I will forward the information to you that Iceni has given me.
SerenityPets
Iceni - that would be very helpful, thanks - hadn't thought of landowners with pheasants which is daft as one person who sighted him in the village originally mistook him for a fox because of his colouring!

Riverlady - thank youLast edited: 2014-02-24 21:33:41 by SerenityPets

Poor boy. He's light coloured so would be visible to motorists at night etc. If you want the contact details of one of the major farmer/landowners in that area, I can forward them to Helen. I'm sure he'll be anxious to look out for a stray dog as their pheasants are going to start nesting soon.

Farms are quite active at the moment and as this person has a gamekeeper, he could keep a look out for the dog.
