- Have heard back from the owner of alfieslostdogs Tyke and it wasn't a match.
- 2014-06-09 15:56 Angel
- Just happened to be doing a random search and came across a listing on alfieslostdogs.com for a Yorkshire terrier matching this description with same name. It is an old listing but have texted the numbers on their poster with a link here. You never know? That dog went missing from gallywood common, chelmsford, essex.CM2 in 2007. Listing was updated in 2009 and Tyke was still missing.Last edited: 2014-06-09 15:58:02 by Angel

- Angelmort. A good idea to seek information from their next door neighbour. Perhaps someone was looking after this dog, and it escaped somehow.

- hi just a thought but would groomer or dog warden be able to put some tape on the front door to see if anyones going in or out the house just in case the owners in hospital and he was staying with relatives x

- I totally agree with you Angelmort and was composing the following post as you made yours .
I don't think we should assume that Tykes owners do not want him and in view of the fact he has only recently been clipped there may well be an owner out there missing him who may not know who to inform or maynot be able to do so for any number of reasons.
The address on the microchip details may not have been updated and he may no longer belong to anyone at the address that has been contacted .
We don't know the full facts and for this reason can I ask that we draw a line here on any speculation. X

- I think people are getting ahead of themselves saying the owners don't want Tyke back. From what I've read below, there is no answer to the phone (or it's not working properly) or house. That doesn't mean they don't want their dog back. Maybe they're not there. If only I was local I would go round to their neighbours to get more info. Is there anyone local that could do that? They obviously love their dog or they wouldn't pay out to take him to the groomers regularly. If I was their groomer, I would happily go round to the house / neighbours and be very concerned as to what's happened. Last edited: 2014-01-31 15:25:26 by Angel

- Inky - the groomer I spoke to was very helpful and I'm delighted if it was her that did some detective work. Last edited: 2014-01-31 15:30:44 by Bo

- How sad that Tyke`s owners no longer want him. Hard hearted or have they seen a cute puppy? never mind Tyke, I am sure someone will soon be giving you a new home despite your age, and really care for you. Your previous owners loss will be someone else`s gain:-)xxx Keep us posted.

- Just had the following message from the Middlesbrough dog warden services:
'I've just spoken to the dog warden and she put a letter through the owners door to advise where he was, so when he wasn't at the kennels, she (the dog warden) thought the owners had been to claim him which is why he wasn't put on facebook so it looks like they are not going to claim him back. The kennels also tried phoning a number of times but they kept getting cut off. so he is elidgable for re-homing from tomorrow.' - 2014-01-31 11:59 Lorna
- Shelagh, I contacted Middlesbrough dog warden yesterday because I couldn't see this dog listed on their Facebook page and wasn't sure they were aware of him, but I have had a message back today to say they are and that they've put a message through the door of the person they believe owns him.
Thanks Bo, I'm assuming it was you who has led to a groomer of this dog being found : )Last edited: 2014-01-31 13:06:59 by Lorna - 2014-01-31 11:18 Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
- This boy is 10 years old and microchipped as Tyke . The holding kennels have been and are still trying to locate his owners . A groomers that Tyke has visited in the past has been found and these groomers have also tried to contact his owner via the contact details that they have. - Paw. Good idea to contact local vet, and then perhaps a local person could contact a nerighbour who may know where the owner is. It could be that the owner ia away, and the dog was being cared for by someone else. Keep us posted.
- 2014-01-30 11:46 Bo
- Caroline - I'm guessing because after 7 days he's technically up for rehome and they want to avoid that when he's obviously cared for.

- If it were an elderly person and the phone is not being answered? Maybe it should be looked into by someone.I'm miles away i'm afraid or i'd go round there.
- 2014-01-30 11:24 Caroline
- why is time running out? he won't be PTS will he?
- 2014-01-30 11:13 Angel
- The chip company would have the address it's registered too. Has someone tried posting a letter to the address or maybe going round there? The owners could be away and not thought or were unable to update the chip with a new contact number. It wouldn't be the first time a 'carer' has lost a dog in their care. As the dogs is well groomed there must a loving owner out there. x

- I just rang a couple of grooming shops near to pallister park and they are ringing the kennels to find out if there is any more information
- 2014-01-30 09:24 Paw
- Has anyone tried ringing local vets to see if they have chip number registered and groomers who might have done the clipping? Sorry not in the area so can't do either of these things.

- Helpers needed! Postcode indicates Middlesbrough. So NW area?
How many peeps could put up posters in the Pallister Park area? Local shops? Newspaper?
I'm miles away, but this caught my attention as I walk an identical dog for his housebound elderly owner;she would be so upset to have lost her dog and frantic with worry. - 2014-01-30 09:07 AlisonH
