- Nina hello.... I am local ..... Very rural area and so very few bus stops and poo bins but we do have one Village School and a Village shop in Compton which is about 4 miles from the place Alfie went from ... will take your advice and go put posters there ... all ideas help enormously Thank you.... Annie
- 2014-01-13 20:29 Nina
- Just thought are there any schools nearby that you could contact about Alfie and offer a reward to school funds. Use bus stops and poo bins to display posters in plastic walltts

- Pauline.. Annie here ... just had an hour out there driving along from east Marden through to the Stoughton car park ... calling all the way and most important calling a lot at the car park. Then drove on through Stoughton village to Walderton and through and up to Up Marden .... a long old lane up there and down to East Marden and back to Stoughton. I have yelled all the way "Alfie" like a banshee. No sign. If he has any dog sense he will have found a shelter out of the rain and grotty darkness. Ring me tomorrow hey .. am up earlier than usual as Grand baby coming for day. Will do anything I can to help. Don't give up. Hopefully he has a little meat on him ? and there is no shortage of water and lots of farm buildings round here.. Annie

- Pauline I have emailed you and your sister, so I have now pinked your comment to hide your email address from public view.
Cooking can be useful but really you have to make sure they are fairly close by, you don't need a bbq a camping stove is ok and quicker to get going but best to use steak and garlic or chicken and garlic and leave it bloody to hold the smell.
When we are out trying to catch a dog, sardines are usually the choice and easy to carry in a small tin.
A car left open is fine, but for now just leave something unwashed of yours and something of his there, maybe in a little water proof den.
Most of my email will already have this type of info in anyway. Good Luck - 2014-01-13 19:17 Pauline McGinn
- Thank you Kate.

- Thank you so much Annie, keeping track of the sightings, Jo is on her way home now & is trying to get time of work tomorrow & i will look early tomorrow morning & perhaps speak to you then if thats ok.
Thank you for the idea's Nina the smell of a bar b cue would go for miles.
The family were going to leave a piece of clothing in the car park just to show Alfie that they had been back to look for him. - 2014-01-13 18:43 Annie Judd

- Just thought Sammie what do you think of advisung owner to park car in car park and leave car door open. Also I know its cold but what about trying a BBQ the smells may work.

- Can anyone available give owner scenting instructions
- 2014-01-13 17:52 Sammie
- Pauline this is out of my area but I can email some advice, especially the document on how to scent a dog back to where you want it and how to plot points on a map from the sightings (it helps to see what routine they have)but the email address is Teresa? Where can I send it? I can send it via FB if that helps.

- Hi Annie Thank you for your kind messages, Please don't be sorry knowing Alfie he was probadly gone in a flash & i am glad to have your message as it gives us a piece of the puzzle.
My Sister Jo is at The White Horse in Chilgrove at the moment & plans to stay there for the next hour giving out posters, perhaps if you are free you may be able to pop along & collect some to hand out. Many thanks.

- Just had a message to say Alfie seen at 12 30 today in Up Marden / Walderton area .. can owner contact me ie give me a land line to ring please
- 2014-01-13 17:39 Ratel
- Thanks, Annie. Postering never goes wrong, either door to door, or anywhere Alfie has been sighted. I did a few today but then the heavens opened. I think one at Harting Down carpark would be good as it is a wellknown doggy rendezvous.
- 2014-01-13 17:34 Nina
- Would Radio Sussex be able to help
- 2014-01-13 17:07 Annie Judd
- Annie here again... I have emailed a load of locals and asked them to pass on ... is there anything else I can do to help ?
- 2014-01-13 16:56 Ratel
- I plan to have a very quiet cruise around for Alfie at dead of night, this is no trouble as he has been sighted practically on my doorstep.
- 2014-01-13 16:26 Annie Judd
- Hello ... I am the one who saw the little dog race past my window at 7 30 am on Sunday ... it must have been him. I am SO sorry I didn't know about this Dog Lost Site and I was not 100% sure the dog was lost ... it just looked odd at that time of day and it was running. I will e mail all I know in the East Marden, Chilgrove and Hooksway areas ... I hope and pray you will get him back asap Annie
- 2014-01-13 15:24 Ratel
- I live in Chilgrove so will maintain a constant watch, just returning to Stoughton now for another search.
- 2014-01-13 15:08 Linda Tanner
- Have just been up to Kingley Vale from Stoughton Down Car Park. Met a dog walker on my way back down and when I described Alfie she said she saw him at 7.30am Sunday morning going up the road by her house in East Marden, heading in the direction of Chilgrove. She said she knew something was wrong as the dog was very grubby, as though he had been sleeping rough, and looked panicky. Might be worth looking in the Chilgrove area and putting posters up in East Marden and the White Horse Pub in Chilgrove.
Fingers crossed for some good news soon!
Steve - 2014-01-13 13:53 Pauline McGinn
- Thank you so much Ratel Linda & Steve for taking this up so quickly.
Alfie is specail to all of us, we are all so worried about him
This area is not familair to Alfie, he was taken for a walk on Saturday when he went missing. He lives in the PO6 area near Portchester so a long way from home really.
He normally has a good recall & is often off lead. We have family at Stoughton looking for him again today . Im just about to google vets/dog clubs/rescues & dog people around the area. - 2014-01-13 11:07 Ratel
- Will return up there in the afternoon but it would be useful to know whether Alfie is used to the location - is it one of his regular walks? Is he familiar with any other parking spots in the area? Where exactly is his home?
- 2014-01-13 09:26 Linda Tanner
- Steve will go up there this pm with our beagles to help search. When Megan went missing at Adsdean it was following DogLost instructions about laying a scent trail etc. that helped us find her 3 days later. We strongly recommend you do the same as it's similar terrain.
- 2014-01-13 06:38 Ratel
- I walk here very early most days so am on the case immediately.
