Brilliant news! Well done to everyone involved. Welcome home lovely Sam - stay very safe now xxx

Does make you wonder if somebody actually took him in for a time and then let him loose or even he escaped! But again lovely to see him in the blue. With a harness, collar and 2 leads I'm guessing you will stay very close! xxLast edited: 2014-01-18 15:50:34 by ClaireC

Thanks for all the lovely comments. Sam now goes out for a walk with a harness on and a collar and 2 leads to make doubly sure he doesn't wander again. I would still like to no where he made his little den, as he kept himself so clean even though there was mud and water everywhere. Thanks again everyone. xx

Wow! Just logged on before bed and seen the page turned blue!! This is just wonderful news and finally Linz has been rewarded for all her hard work and patience. Cheeky little man, I expect it will be a long time before he is allowed off the lead again! What a little survivor to have kept himself safe for more than two months. A very, very happy ending and well done to everyone involved.

Sam was caught by Simon who lives in Brentmoor Road, last night, we had been feeding him and watching to see where Sam was getting into his garden, and playing with his two dogs, one mistake from Sam and we have him home.Thank you to everyone who has helped me and offered advice especially Heather and Paula. Thanks again from one very happy lady xx
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
That definitely is the area where Sam has been seen previously so there is a really good chance it is him. And he has been known to bark at night too so it does seem likely. There can't surely be two pooches on the loose in that area especially late at night so it must be him.
I don't suppose you have anywhere in your garden where you could put food out, to see if you can lure him into coming regularly? He has been known to find regular feeding spots up until now and almost certainly has one now, so it it possible if he finds a new food source, he will come and Linz stands a chance of capturing him. He has proved illusive up until now but she had a way of catching him with help but he stopped coming the day they decided on the new plan! So now if they can lure him back to coming regularly to one spot, they stand a chance of trying it out. But any help you can give Cailean, especially texting Linz if you do see the little chap, is invaluable.
Cailean
I live near the top of Birch Lane which is close to the car park. That night the dog seemed to be circling between Tanglewood Ride, running up to the car park, then to the houses at the top of new england hill and then towards the far end of broad street. He was barking as he went so it was possible to hear his route. He circled past the front of my house at least 3 times during the course of a few hours. The dog was definitely on its own which makes me sure it was Sam. Co-incidentally I did meet a distressed looking fox that night and wondered if maybe Sam was chasing it around the common, hence the barking and his being very active.
This was Tuesday but no repeat on Wednesday or Thursday night. If I make eye contact or hear him again I will text Linz (even if its very late).
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Cailean, thank you for posting here. Do you live close to the Common's car park area where you heard the dog barking? Linz has received Paula's text so is aware it might be Sam. If you see or hear the dog again, would it be possible to post on here as soon as you can, like you did on the 7th? It is really useful to know if he is still running about on the Common, which is entirely possible, even without sightings. And if you spot him and do think it is him, Linz's number is at the top here. Would be great if it is Sam as that means the little chap is still keeping himself safe and fed.
PaulaK
Have texted owner to make sure she saw your post Cailean

There has been a dog barking and running around Brentmoor Common this evening from around 10pm. Tried to get a look to identify him but never got close enough, he seemed to be moving very fast. Could very well have been Sam back in the area. Last heard around 11.45 around the car park area.
Saza
Sorry to hear that Sam has not been spotted again. I agree with PJ about the local rescues and Posters. It can't hurt to keep people aware he is missing still. And to ask that they check sheds and out houses, in case he has got caught/locked in somewhere. Do you think the local paper would run a story?
It is very hard for you to keep up the momentum in the search when there has been no sighting, but don't give up. I don't know if you live in the direct area. But can Sam access your garden if he walked home? Fingers crossed he re-appears soon.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Might be worth ringing round the local rescues and the dog warden again, just in case the wee one has been picked up in the locality. They don't always find the microchip and it is possible that he is sitting in a local kennel. Secondly, put posters up everywhere saying he is still missing. There is a very good chance he's still out there, happily finding food, unaware of the heartache he is causing. The posters will hopefully jog new people's memories and you will get new sightings. Don't give up Linz, they do come home after being away longer than this. Put posters up everywhere you can, in the Lightwater/Bisley area. I really feel for you. Just wish there was more we could all do to help ensure your little boy returns to you soon. x
Linz
Still no sign of Sam anywhere.
Saza
Have driven down Brentmoor Road and Broad street every time I've been up the A322 over the last few days, in hope of spotting Sam. Also found Turf Hill common and called at Bisley vets today. They are aware of Sam and actively looking when dog walking. Linz we are still looking. I took some posters but really need laminated ones for outdoors. Maybe a new poster campaign is needed to let everyone know you are still looking and to widen search area. Happy to help distribute them.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
I spoke to Linz by text earlier and she is very disheartened by the lack of sightings of Sam since Saturday evening. Hopefully the little chap will reappear as he has done previously after periods of no sightings, but if anyone can think of anything else she, or us, as volunteers, can do to help, please let her know. She feels that going out looking during the day probably will not work as he only comes out at night. If anyone living locally, like Treeman, can keep their eyes peeled, and pass the word on that little Sam is still out there, that would be very helpful. It is highly likely he is still in the area, and we already know he has found several sources of food. The more local people who know he is missing, the better. Hopefully it is just a matter of time before he shows up again, but I think Linz really needs our support and positive thoughts right now.
Linz
Sam has gone walk about again haven't seen him seen Boxing Day, a man texted me Saturday evening and said he had seen Sam on Turf Hill Common, which is across the main road, went up and met the man this evening but no Sam, went to Broad Street where I have been feeding him but only 2 foxes appeared. fed up, to put it politlyLast edited: 2013-12-29 18:50:46 by Linz

Saza - text Sams owner (number above) and ask. I know she is still trying to outsmart the little terror as he wont go into trap or crate

Keep checking to see if Sam's come home. Is there anything any of us can do to help?
Saza
So glad to hear Sam is still dining out in the area.He is a resourceful little chap. Hope he is home for Christmas.
alikat
Great news! Sam is obviously surviving very well - clever little dog. Now it's just a matter of catching him! Good luck Linz and hope you can get him home for Christmas.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Let's hope he'll be home in time for Christmas!
PaulaK
Linz had a call about sam visiting a garden nearby and taking fox food, she went there to watch tonight and sure enough sam turned up! Lots of neighbours feed foxes and hedgehos so goid source of food for sam keeping him near which is great. Apparently he is quite chubby! So linz will do more talking in the riad tomorrow so we can suss his patterns and try to catch him out!
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Paula is right, he will stay close, Linz. He is also used to fending for himself so may well have found another food source and be going to that while the weather is bad. Keep strong, am sure he will reappear. And make sure the posters are visible, to keep him foremost in people's minds, and like Saza says, they can check for him.
Saza
Do you think there is any chance someone has taken him in? There are quite a few houses around there. Would it be worth doing a leaflet drop to ask people to look in their garages/sheds etc where he may be squatting for the night? And to raise awareness he is still missing; and that you are very actively looking for him. Sorry if I'm suggesting what you have already done. Keep hoping he will be home soon.
Linz
Still trying to catch Sam, I haven't seen him for 6 days now he doesn't seem to like coming out for food when it's raining, I am getting worried that maybe he will move away from this area soon if I don't catch him
Saza
Any news on this little chap?
PaulaK
No sign of sam last night, linz back over today and tonight looking
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Treeman has very kindly offered to help. Paula will be contacting him today. Linz is on on her way to collect the trap as Sam didn't show last night. BBC Surrey have agreed to cover Sam's story on their breakfast show. Just waiting to hear when the item will be on air.
PaulaK
Treeman you could be great help to Linz - we really need an area near there that we can safely put a trap after luring Sam there regularly with food - do you know of somewhere - it would need to be watched obviously
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Seems little Sam might be getting bolder so hopefully he'll take that extra step and get in his crate tonight. Linz is doing a great job to bring him home. And Paula has been brilliant. Fingers crossed for tonight.
Linz
Down the bottom of the road, where it's quite, not Guildford Rd end.
Treeman
I live off Brentmoor Rd. Where abouts on Brentmoor was Sam seen?
PaulaK
If there are any volunteers in the area that could help with posters please do, but please remember (and remind others) that Sam should not be called or chased if seen - report all sightings ASAP to Linz
PaulaK
Sam was seen in Brentmoor Road this morning - barking outside a house at 4.30am. Linz on the case though there is a race through the area today so I doubt he will be seen. Brentmoor road not far from where he went missing so glad he is staying in the area
PaulaK
Linz is doing everything right, good luck tonight x
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Hoping it will be good news to tomorrow morning Linz!
Linz
Thanks to everyone for helping me try and bring Sam home again, trying again tonight. everything crossed
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Thank you so much for your help Paula. Linz says that he appeared twice last night and stuck his head into the crate, just got to get the rest of him in there now! But with Paula's expert advice and help, hopefully he will be home very soon.
PaulaK
Have spoken to Linz - heading over there to meet her shortly
PaulaK
Just had quick chat with Heather about Sam - have left message for Linz to call me to see if I can help
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Sam didn't show last night apparently. Here's hoping that he comes tonight or that someone spots him over the weekend as there are bound to be lots of people about on the common.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Hi all, I've edited this post following a long chat with Linz just now. Sam didn't show last night but as before, he comes and goes so that doesn't mean that he is no longer in the area. I've spoken to the Surrey Wildlife Trust Ranger for Brentmoor Heath this morning, as he is the expert on the land and I wondered whether he may be able to give us some idea of any areas he felt a dog may be likely to hide during the day. He said that it was unusual dog behaviour to hide in old badger sets etc and that as the rest of the common was open land he thought there was a much greater chance that Sam is hiding in outbuildings or similar. He has suggested that the area called New England which sits between the two car parks on the common, would be a likely place for Sam to be hiding. It could be that Sam has found food put out for wildlife by a resident and is sheltering in or near one of the buildings. He suggested that Linz go and knock on all the doors in this little hamlet and talk to the householders, which is what she is going to do over the next couple of days. She is also going to give them some flyers so they have something to hand if they do spot him. But it does seem likely that the little chap is hunkered down somewhere nearby, and finding an alternative food source.

Secondly, at this moment in time Linz doesn't think that us searching on Saturday will do any good as Sam does appear to be hiding during the day, and in fact may be detrimental to catching him in the long run. So at present, let's not meet up, unless she asks us to. I have reiterated that there are a lot of people on here who would help at the drop of a hat, if she needs us to, and she knows all she needs to do is ask. She thought he might not go in a horse box sadly, as he was very nervous of the large RSPCA crate, although it was a good idea Julie.

So at the moment, she is going to carry on going to the car park with food and Sam's crate, in the hope he will return and get close enough so she can catch him. And hopefully banging on doors in New England may bring results.

She is determined not to give up and I think she knows that we will all support her in any way we can. Last edited: 2013-12-12 10:46:22 by LostPALS

Just a thought... I lost a little JRT rescue 2 years ago - Fray - she turned up in the back of a removal lorry in Lightwater trying to get warm on a cold night. How about trying a similar tactic e.g. a horsebox left open with food and his bed inside. I have a few horsey friends who may be able to help. If we tried to encourage him to use something like this it could be the answer as its getting v cold. Will await to hear from Linz.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Just text Linz and sadly Sam didn't appear last night so had probably found another food source. However, he didn't come at the weekend, but did return on Monday to wait for Linz to show up, so there is no reason to suggest he won't be back tonight or tomorrow. They are trying again tonight. I have said we will be guided by what she thinks is best in terms of us all searching on Saturday. We don't want to frighten him away from the area, if he is returning to be fed regularly. But if Linz thinks we can help by looking then we shall.

Come on Sam, time to come back to your Mum now, little man.
Saza
Just a thought. Have you told the army about Sam? They may spot him when they are out and about doing their thing. xx
Saza
Hope you manage to get hold of Sam tonight. Have been following his story and keeping eyes open for him when in the area.
Happy to help in the evening or on Saturday if you need more hands.
Good Luck tonight.

Think you are probably right Linz, too many of us may scare him off. Just wish there was more we could all do to help you. But as you can see, we are all here if you do need us, and ready to look for him on Saturday if he is not back home by then. Wishing you the very best of luck tonight. I will keep checking this page and hope Sam will come to you soon. However, if you need extra help on Saturday I would be happy to come over from Dorking - with my little Border Terrier - to the meeting place and at the time already suggested.
Linz
I will see if I can catch Sam on my own tonight, I think to many people might frighten him off, he is very clever but thanks everyone, let you no how I get on
Treeman
I only live 2 minutes away. If you need more hands tonight let me know what time.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Meant to say earlier in my text, if you need an extra pair of hands later, give me a call Linz. Got everything crossed for you that the little chap will be tempted by the food and you can catch him. I emailed all the local businesses and the two pubs, I could find on Google maps that were close to either carpark, or on the Common, yesterday to ask them to keep an eye out for him during the day. I have had responses back from a couple of them kindly saying they will spread the word and keep an eye out for him. Got everything crossed for you.
B30
Good luck Linz.
JulieB
Sounds like good news. Fingers crossed. The butcher in Lightwater will give you some great beef bones if you want them. He must be hungry. Keep feeding him in the same area. Good luck!
I am free Saturday if all else fails.
Linz
Went up the common this evening and it seems like Sam was waiting for me, he ate his food and ran off, tomorrow we are taking a cage up with us to see if we can catch him, he seemed very hungry, so perhaps a nice bit of chicken and a beef bone will temp him into his cage, everything crossed.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Second bit, as I ran out of space!

Take your time, and let him, get used to your scent. If you put out a hand to pet him,, don’t place your hand over his head. Pet him under the chin. If you have a leash handy, attach it to his collar if he has one. If he doesn’t have a collar, form the leash into a slip-collar by passing the hasp through the handle.

Also, I was thinking that if Sam does start coming back for food this week, you could try tempting him with some really smelly hot food from a flask, like cooked bacon, or burgers or sausages. Hopefully the aromas may be just too tempting for him to ignore and you can get close enough to encourage him to you.

Please let us know how you get on this week, and we will go from there, but as you can see, there are people who are happy to come out on Saturday, if all else fails, to see if we can track the little chap down.

Keep positive, he has done really well to be out this long, and obviously has found some form of shelter. Let's hope this is the week he comes home!
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Linz,

In case you couldn't open that link, here is the gist of it:

Don't call the dog to get his attention - Chances are that someone else has already tried that with this dog, and if it would have worked, then the dog would no longer be running loose.

Don't squat down and hold out a hand to the dog - People try to make themselves smaller and make a kind gesture. When you squat down, all your weight is carried on your tense thigh muscles, like a predator getting ready to spring.

Don't slowly approach the dog while looking right at him. This also mimicking the behavior of a predator and won't calm a skittish dog.

Don't chase the dog! The slowest dog in the world can outrun the fastest person in the world.

Whatever you do, try not to make the situation worse for this dog by scaring him out of an area where he feels comfortable.

Use the car
Open your rear passenger door. Place some treats on the back seat if you have any.
Sit quietly, looking forward, and watch the approaching dog in your mirror to the extent that you can. Hopefully, he will hop right in, and that will be that. It has worked on many occasions. If it doesn’t work, at least you haven’t made the dog afraid of you.

Use calming signals.
Calming signals are very specific signals conveyed by body language that dogs use to calm each other down and diffuse fear or aggression. You can use them as you approach a lost dog you're trying to catch.
If the dog is staying in one area, approach him slowly, at an angle, so that path you are walking would go beside him, not toward him.
Turn your head to the side, away from him, so you are just watching in your peripheral vision. You want to appear to be unaware that he is even there.
Slow down and stop the moment he focuses his attention on you as you approach.
Stop your approach in a manner that suggests you were planning on doing that all along, such as sitting on a curb or looking at your phone.
Don’t suddenly freeze, like, “Oh, you caught me sneaking up on you.”

Yawn.
This is a calming signal that dogs use on each other. Your dog has probably yawned at you when he was in trouble for something, in an effort to calm you down.

Sit down on the pavement, or on the curb.
You want to be sitting on your butt, not squatting. If you are in the seated position, you can’t do anything quickly, and the dog won’t feel like you are going to suddenly lunge at him.

"Accidently" drop some food.
If you don’t have food, pretend to eat something. If the dog is watching, but hesitant to approach, you can just lie flat on your back.

Try a magnet dog, if you can.
If the calming signals don’t work, and if you have a friendly, happy dog with you, or if you can run home quickly and get one, see how the stray dog will react to another dog.
Bring your friendly dog into an area where the stray dog can see you. When you have her attention, ignore him, and focus all your attention on your own dog. Give your dog treats. Hopefully, the stray dog will come right up when he sees you giving treats to your dog.
Either way, with food or with games, the idea is to focus your attention on the magnet dog and ignore the stray as much as possible. When the stray is focused on your dog, you may be able to hook a leash onto a collar, or slip a lead over his head.Last edited: 2013-12-09 18:54:47 by LostPALS

I'm happy to do that Julie. Let's hope it won't be necessary but if he's not home by then, that would be a good idea. Shall we wait and see how Linz gets on this week, am hoping desperately little Sam will be brave enough to approach them before then. But if not, check here on Friday and arrange to meet on Saturday morning if he's still out there? Will keep your number to hand. If anyone else can make it on Saturday morning to help look, please let us know here?
JulieB
Shall we meet up on Saturday morning - say 9.30 in the car park opposite Gordons School. My mobile no. is 07884285572 and I live in Curley Hill Road, Lightwater. My husband will come too. If we can meet up at least thats one step forward. I will walk the area Wednesday too but if we can all meet Sat it would be great.

Great stuff Cailean. Do keep your eyes peeled, it sounds very hopeful he is still out there on the Heath.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
I have just had a chat with Linz about the circumstances surrounding Sam's disappearance. It seems that Linz and her two dogs parked in the car park under the trees at Brentmoor Heath and were walking on the common when a woman with a doberman approached. Her dog had a go at Linz's other dog and in the commotion, little Sam got so frightened he managed to get out of his harness and just ran in fear. He has been sighted on the other side of the Guildford Road once but all other sightings have been on the Heath and all at night. He had been coming regularly to the other small car park near the Gordon Boy's School roundabout and taking food that Linz had put down. She and her husband have seen him but as soon as they call he runs off. He has obviously gone into fight or flight mode. She hasn't seen him since Friday but is going to continue to go to the car park with their other dog, and put food down nightly, in the hope that Sam will return to the same spot. Sadly he wouldn't go near the fox crate lent by the RSPCA. But it does sound as though he is staying to a fairly small area of the Heath and may have found somewhere to hide during the day. They have been around the Heath in daytime many times and found no trace, although on one occasion their other dog went mad when they passed a drainage tube, but there was no sign of Sam when they searched it. If anyone on here (Co-ordinators - can you recommend someone, if possible?) can give Linz some more advice about how to catch Sam when they see him, it would be really appreciated. I think anything any of us can do to help get Sam home would be appreciated. It may still be worth us all meeting up for another fingertip search of the area at the weekend if little Sam is not home by then? If you would be available at any point over the weekend, please can you add a message here?
Cailean
I live 100 yards from that car park and would also be very happy to come out and assist any time.

Linz, this is the link I was telling you about: http://www.seattledogspot.com/blog/dog-blog/post/7-tips-for-helping-a-lost-dog
Useful tips that might help. As I said, there are lots of us on here who will do anything to help that we possibly can, so do keep us posted and let us know if you need help of any kind?
Linz
I haven't seen Sam since Friday, I had got him coming for food between 8-15 and 10-30pm at the little car park off the Gordon Boys School roundabout, but I am really worried that something has happened to him, he was really nervous and wouldn't go in a cage. I am going up to night again but do not hold much hope he will show. will let you no if he shows.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
I think that would be a good idea Julie, if Linz is up for it. I'm not that far away, in the Red Road end of Upper Chobham Road in Camberley. I can do Saturday or Sunday next weekend. Would love to think that wouldn't be necessary as he will be home by then, but if not, am happy to came and help. Are you in touch with Linz? Saw an earlier message where you said you were calling her?
JulieB
Is there anyway we could meet up with Linz on the common so that she could show us exactly where Sam is hiding... its such a vast area. Maybe we could discuss a plan. I am free on Wednesdays and weekends. I think if the DL volunteers got together we could devise a plan. One person alone is not going to catch him.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
I was thinking along those lines too, maybe nets or something? But am no expert in catching scared dogs who have been fending for themselves for the amount of time Sam has. I'm hoping there may be someone on here who has had experience of doing just that, who could come on and give Linz some advice. Linz, can you give us more info on times he comes out, and how close you can get, etc? There are lots of people on here who are ready and willing to help you, but we need more info and feedback from you, if possible, in order to do so? This site is a brilliant resource for rallying the troops. If you have an idea of where he might be hiding, maybe a volunteer with a tracker dog can help? There must be something we can all do to help you get Sam home safely and soon. Can you give us as much information as possible, and hopefully we can all pull together to come up with a plan to help you?
JulieB
Hellow everyone
Do you think we could build a pen around the area where Sam is hiding - if we could do this then we could try and trap him into a small area.
I am sure we could get our hands on a small sheep pen from somewhere.
What do you all think? I am happy to help to do this as I am sure other DL members would. Just a thought as I feel we are getting desperate to return him home before Xmas.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
So sorry to see little Sam is still out there, Linz. Am wondering if there is anything we can all do to help? How often are you sighting him? How close can you get to him when you see him? Is he coming for food daily? Do you have any idea of where he might be hiding the rest of the time? Am wondering if it is possible to narrow the search area if he is in one place? Do any DL folk on here have experience of catching a lost dog, who may be able to advise Linz, on other ways to lure him in? Johanna is right, apparently that has worked before. Hi, I'm a vet so I hear about a lot of dogs going missing. I have heard that (brace yourself) urinating on an article of your clothing and placing it nearby can help. Have any dog behaviourists commented? How long have you owned Sam? We keep a look out for him when we are on the common.Last edited: 2013-12-07 20:26:49 by Johanna Headley

Linz, any news on your little boy? Did you get the fox crate and are you still getting regular sightings? I really, really hope that Sam will be back home soon.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Got everything crossed for you that he's home this week.
Linz
R S P C A have said they will lend me a fox trap, next week, so hopefully it won't be long before I get my little boy home again
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Sounds promising, at least he has obviously found somewhere safe to stay during the day, bless him. I really hope you manage to catch the little chap soon.
Linz
Sam is always seen at night, I have been putting food down in the same place in the evening and he nervously comes out of the woods and eats what I have put down for him, Sam looks well and unhurt, but he won't let as catch him. I have phoned the R S P C A and they are bringing me a bigger cage and help me try and catch him, but it won't be until next week. Unless I can catch him over the weekend,

Linz - can you give a clear description as to where you have seen Sam.
I will walk over again tomorrow pm and on Wed am with my 2 dogs with some food and try and find him for you. I will also call you on your mob as to where you think he might be.

Hi Linz, any more sightings of your little boy over the weekend? Hoping this is the week he comes home to you.
Linz
We have had a couple of sighting of Sam, near where we lost him, so we are putting humain rabbit traps about with food in them in the hope Sam goes in one

Did you get any luck with the paper? They may well run a small item on him. And are you still postering? It's really important that you keep little Sam in the foremost of people's minds. The public will keep an eye out for him but they do need a gentle constant reminder that you are still looking.
Do you have any more detail about how he went missing? Was he on a walk? did he run off? Did you see which direction he went in? Were there other people about? Near any roads/ carparks? Anything you can tell us may help. There are lots of people registered here who have either lost dogs, or helped search / find them, who can give you lots of useful advice to help find Sam. But the more info you can give on here, the more able they are to help. And I can't stress how important keeping up with the posters can be.
Linz
We all went out looking again today no luck again. 9 days now, I just hope he has found somewhere warm, dry and some food.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Also, see if you can get a mention of him in the local paper. Spread the word as much as possible. Keep us posted here. Will keep looking for him when we are out and about.

I'm so sorry to hear your little chap is still missing. If someone has taken him in then it makes putting the posters up even more important. Flood the area with them, and make him " too hot to handle". That way even if the person who has him doesn't take note, neighbours or friends who see they suddenly have a new dog which looks exactly like the poster dog may well get in touch. I really feel for you. Hope you find him really soon.
Linz
We all went out again today but still no sightings of my little boy, i'm beginning to wonder if someone hasn't taken him home with them, Thanks to everyone who went out looking today

I live in Curley Hill Road Lightwater. I will put up posters in Curley Hill and adjacent roads and go over to the Ranges tomorrow with my 2 Jack Russells and try and find Sam. Will do my best this weekend.

Sue, Pixies's owner has just suggested contacting the Highways Agency too, just in case he has been picked up on one of the roads. He could have been taken to a local rescue somewhere and it is possible the microchip didn't scan. Everything is worth a try. Thinking of you. Fingers crossed the little chap is home soon.
Linz
I have been round all the local vets,
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Another thing, and it really pains me to say it, but if you can, it might be worth offering some sort of reward. It's amazing how many local dogs in our area returned, after their owners did just that. Pixie and Bonnie, to name just two. Sadly, sometimes that is what it takes to bring them home. But hopefully Sam has just lost his way and has found somewhere to hide until he is found. I really hope you find him very soon. But as I said previously, from being involved in the search for other local pooches, the more posters you can get up, the better.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
So sorry to hear that Sam is still missing. If you can, either email all the local vets or pop in and give them posters to put up. There are quite a few local to Lightwater on Google. And in Budgens and any other shop and petrol station which will take a poster. Still keeping our eyes open when we are out and about and have passed on Sam's details to some of the guys who helped find Pixie Lilley a year or so ago when she went missing as they are all local doggy folk too. Have everything crossed for you that Sam is safely home soon.
Linz
Yes I have contacted the dog warden, I will speak to the MOD.
Thanks for looking and the info, we went out today again looking and putting out posters, but nobody has seen him, also spoke to the ranger
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Also contact the MOD if you haven't already as they have wardens who monitor the ranges daily, and keep an eye on Chobham Ridges, in case he got through a hole in the fence, into them. Thinking of you. Got everything crossed he's home really soon.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Have you talked to Surrey Heath dog warden? Julia Adams, she's very helpful? I can text you her direct number if you need it. Main line is 01276 707390. You should definitely talk to her. But best advice would be to flood area with DL posters. It has worked round here to find other lost dogs. Will have another look over High Curley way tomorrow first thing. Got everything crossed for you that Sam is home soon.
Linz
Thanks to everyone who is helping me look for Sam, he went missing sunday 10 Nov at quarter to twelve approx., Still no sign of him we have widened the search, he is a very timid boy
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
Any news on Sam today? Kept an eye out this morning, will continue to do so, if he is still missing.
HelperLost Pals Surrey Heath.LostPALS
We walk on High Curley and the army land right next to Brentmoor Common. Will keep a lookout for Sam when we are out tomorrow, although I hope he will be home before then. When did he go missing?
