Well done biccy, it must have been very upsetting to find Oscar like that, but because of you the family now have closure. xx

It was us that found Oscar yesterday morning at the side of our narrowboat at 7am. We had no internet access so rang our daughter to check doglost for a large brown dog lost in the area. She found Oscar's page and rang us with the description and owners details. We managed to get Oscar out and once we were sure he matched the details I rang the owner. We showed Oscar as much care and dignity as we could and stayed with him till his owner collected him late afternoon. I found it very upseting but on refection...without the doglost site Oscar would have remained unnamed or claimed and his family would have had no closure. When I joined doglost I didn't expect to be directly involved with such a distressing incident. Run free at Rainbow bridge Oscar you really were a handsome dog.

Oscars owners let him and their other dogs out into their garden last Sunday evening but found Oscar and one of their other dogs had vanished and that someone had opened the garden gate. The dog that went missing with him was found 24 hours later 3 to 4 mikes from home wandering near Bradley Bar Roundabout, Huddersfield .
There have been 2 possible sightings of Oscar
The first being a SIGHTING of a chocolate labrador wandering in Winney Hill Park on the Monday (the day after he went missing ) at around 6 pm . This is a short distance from his home .
The second possible SIGHTING was on the Tuesday morning on the Brighouse/ Denholmgate Road near to the Shelf Roundabout heading in the direction of Queensbury.
His owners have contacted dog wardens , microchip company and checked with stray kennels. I have given them the number for one kennel they weren't aware of.
Some postering has been done and they will be seeking media coverage.
Really hoping that Oscar is found very soon .
Anyone finding a dog is required by law to report this to the dog warden.Last edited: 2013-10-28 09:23:12 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
