Wufra is now a finalist in PDSA Pet Survivor of the Year!

Will has turned into the most gentle of characters. He's still very jumpy and suspicious, but getting more confident by the day.
He hates raised voices, so I'm training Brian to speak like a girl, lol.
He has only just started meeting my gaze - preferring to turn himself inside out in submission.
I got told off by the vet, though, because when he goes out in the garden he's full of the joys of spring and tries to do 'wall of death' round the lawn! I must try to keep him calm...
Don't know if he's younger than we thought or just happy to be alive, bless.
Please don't forget to vote for him in the PDSA Pet Survivor of the Year.

Text VOTE WILL to 70099.

If he doesn't win, it doesn't matter, because he's happy and that's the main thing. Love him. Last edited: 2013-12-10 10:00:41 by Aitch

Update from Helen's facebook page

He was very quiet today, but I didn't hold it against him. He's been through a lot.
The vet is very pleased with how the op went. He showed me the x-rays and it looks like a really neat job, with a plate and screws. His leg will probably turn out a little at the ankle, and will be about a centimetre shorter than the other. But, if that's as bad as it gets, then it's a miracle.
We're hoping that he will be able to come home after the weekend.
Please form an orderly queue...
Paw
Brilliant news!and thanks for keeping us "non-facebook" folks updated. Will keep checking on his progress.
Bo
We have fantastic news - from Helen's facebook page.

Vet has just phoned...
GOOD, GOOD, GOOD NEWS!!
He has FOUR, yes FOUR legs! All mended, came through surgery fine.
Bo
Wufra may have his op tomorrow (07th), he is being prepped (no food) just in case.
Bo
Today's update, direct cut and paste from Helen's facebook page;

Two weeks later. Wufra is making progress, very slowly. He is behaving more like a dog, sniffing and cleaning himself. He is still not well enough to have his operation, I'm afraid. Tony (his vet) is talking maybe the end of the week. Please everyone, keep everything crossed for our beautiful boy. Last edited: 2013-11-08 19:25:41 by Minigirl - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire
ClaireC
Everything crossed for Wufra and his upcoming op xx
Esther
Fingers crossed that goes well. This dog so deserves a great outcome. As do all the people who have put so much in to helping him. Well done
Bo
Wufra continues to do well - he now weighs 18.6kg and his operation to try and save his broken leg should take place this week .
Bo
All good

From Helen Coates facebook page;
Wufra update;
Had a lovely visit with him tonight, delivered lots of cuddles and had a few in return.
All the news is still positive. Every day he's a little stronger, a little bit 'fatter' and a little bit brighter. Come on, fella, you can do it...
Esther
I just looked at the video. What an amazing dog!
Esther
Greatly appreciate the up dates Bo
Bo
For those who have access to Facebook there is a video of Wufra at the vets, popping outside (reluctantly) for his toilet. His coat is starting to get a shine on it and although still thin, his ribs are starting to get a bit more filled out. He's gorgeous.

Lovely to hear this news. Keep up the good work both Wufra and Tony xx
Esther
Great news! Well done Tony and all Wufra 's many helpers
Bo
Tony (his vet) is reported to be very pleased with his progress today. He's getting stronger day by day and apparently he nearly trotted out onto the grass for his toilet this afternoon. Xxx
ClaireC
Thank you for update xx
Esther
Thanks for the update Bo lets keep everything crossed.

Bolts owner has confirmed its not him :(
Bo
From facebook update at 1340 today
Vet (Tony) seems quite pleased with his progress, although he's hesitant to say that he's on the mend. You can understand it - he has been through a lot. He's off his drip, has put more weight on and was pulling on the lead to get back into his bed, this morning.
His intravenous drip is now out.

Bo
Follow his progress here;

Updated today that he continues to gain weight and the vets are hoping his intravenous drip will come out soon (tomorrow).

Photos of Strider have been E-mailed to the finder....
Bo
Paw - I would like to donate but no link on their site yet that I can see works. I will keep trying.
Paw
There is now an appeal on www.grough.co.uk re this dog for help with vet's bills. He has a broken front leg and is very emaciated but doing alright so far. If not reunited with his owner (does have more than a passing resemblance to Strider) I am sure he will soon find a new home, once he is fit and well.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
I will send the link to Strider's owner, thank you poochpal for alerting me to this x
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
So pleased that he was found in time, I hope he is now comfortable.
Could this be Strider? I know it is not his area but he may have been stolen and dumped? It is the expression in his eyes that is similar.
