So excited to have come home and read this! Had a lovely call from Dixons owner confirming it! I'll be honest, I couldn't quite believe it! Hopefully going to meet this infamous boy next week for a walk (with a sat nav attached to his collar!) xxx

Thank you so much for the call Phoebe.
Just had Dixon's owner on the phone- it was him!!
his owner is so grateful for all the help and support the family have received and a huge thank you to the woman who managed to contain Dixon. He still had his ID tag on so they were able to make contact straight away.
stay safe now boy

A dog of Dixon's description has just been caught in Denby Dale. Owner will be calling me as soon as it is known whether this is Dixon or not.

Had a walk around Linfit Lane and surrounding area this afternoon and also along the canal from Slaithwaite towards Huddersfield. Unfortunately no sightings. I'll keep looking.
Sarah
Update - Today we have searched the following areas (both on foot and by car) Pole Moor, Marsden Moor, Cop Hill and Scapegoat Hill. Unfortunately no sightings. Spoke to a number of people en route and raised awareness with local walkers. Left posters with Co-op (Linthwaite & Golcar), Donaldsons Vets (Birchencliffe & Maple St), Pets At Home (Hudds Central) and Vets4Pets (Marsh).
Shared on Facebook and Twitter. Alerted Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team asking walkers/teams to be vigilant whilst out and about and report sightings/info etc...
I was really hoping to be able to leave some promising news - I'm sorry we have been unable to deliver (I have also updated Dixon's owner) x

Thanks Sarah. Am not at my computer at the moment but from memory the area Dixon went missing from is slightly to the north of Slaithwaite. Wen we mapped the sightings last night they formed a triangular shape which can be quite common when a dog is missing.
Will aim to plot the sightings on googlemap tonight .
In the meantime postering or searching anywhere within the areas of the possible sightings is an enormous help, as until more sightings are reported , it is difficult to focus more specifically. Yesterday we discussed postering along the borders/ boundaries and in between the "triangle" of sightings.
Thank you again for your help
X

Hi Minigirl - which specific target area's should I search? I'm happy to go anywhere you think is appropriate.
Nothing seen last night in Golcar/Longwood.
I'm also not entirely sure where about's in Slaithwaite he went missing from (Dixon's owner told me but we couldn't find it on google maps). The 2 sightings on Sat are quite far apart so I'm not entirely sure which area is best to head out to.Last edited: 2013-07-24 08:01:08 by Sarah

Thank you Nancy and Sarahshooter for your local help and input.
There have been possible sightings of Dixon since he went missing in an unfamiliar area. The last reported sightings so far were on Saturday.
His owners have contacted all the relevant authorities and visited holding kennels.
They have already got posters in place and will be adding to those. We have mapped his possible sightings and discussed areas to target and searching and scenting ideas.
When he went missing Dixon was wearing a collar and ID tag and he is also Microchipped.
Discussed media appeals.
Really hoping for more news and sightings of him to be reported.
If found, he must be reported to the dog warden, as is required by LAW

Sarah
I've spoken to Dixons owner. Various possible sightings; Linfit Lane (thurs), Blackmoorfoot Res (sat), Longwood heading to Paddock (also Sat). Nothing since, unfortunately.
Dixon suffers from separation anxiety and is very timid towards people but is more than happy to approach others dogs.
Posters have been placed in various areas and local vet practices. I will post some more tomorrow with Donaldsons etc. I'm going to walk around the Golcar/Lngwood area this eve and head out to Meltham area tomorrow. Will update if I get any news.
Nancy
Off now to have a look around the Marsden area.
