Looking on google earth the waves and sand patterns go towards st Margaret's bay, so if he went in the water he could have swam that way as the tide, if it was going in, (coastguards would know) could help take him in that direction, if he didn't go in the water he may have picked himself up and gone in either direction,( cases of dogs surviving falls of up to 500ft) someone could have found him and taken him in, or he might be hiding out somewhere....if no body has been found there is still hope that he is okLast edited: 2013-07-14 12:02:41 by Nora

I have found a few stories of dogs falling off cliffs and surviving, including a springer spaniel called Poppy who plunged 300 foot into the sea and managed to swim ashore....so there is still hope
Nora
Poor Barkis, I was so hoping that there would be positive news, my thoughts are with his family xx

I am sorry to say that the trail which Tiga followed led straight to the cliff edge and a sheer drop. But as yet no body has been found washed up, so the search continues.

Any news?

Praying Barkis is found safe soon. Come on boy be seen. Wish I livd closer to help you search x
Nora
Sounds like the area is being well covered and with Tiga up there as well to try and pick up his scent, hopefully he will be found safe soon
my boy max
been up there for the last 3 hours checked the next level down from the cafe back to stmargerets .looked as if the inshore rescue boat was checking along the clife face .lots of walkers up there .. has the area behind the coastguards been checked

I have been talking to JB who will be on her way there shortly to assist with Tiga. If Barkis went over the cliff and is stuck on a ledge, it would help to narrow the area down and find out exactly where he went over. The shoreline has been regularly searched so it doesn't look as if he has gone into the sea. From the direction he went it seems likely that he chased the rabbit over the cliff after getting through a hole in stock fencing. There are paths and ledges suitable for rabbits but nothing bigger. Coastguards have been informed.Last edited: 2013-07-04 11:52:38 by Owl

I hope he is ok, stay positive, he is just like my boy, also a B&W springer, and I know how daft they are when they smell a rabbit, all common sense (mine has very little anyway) goes out the window, he is off like a rocket, but if he was after a rabbit, he may just has easily ran further inland, lost his sense of direction, got scared, and with the miserable weather, be hiding under a bush somewhere, mine is also a dreadful baby and this is what he would.
I am wondering if there is anyone nearby with a dog that could pick up his trail, or may be you could take a portable Barbecue out there, and cook up some nice smells to entice him if he is hiding somewhere.
Good luck xx
my boy max
walk my gang along there most afternoons so will look out for him tomorrow
BBKM
Oh no. He may be trapped and injured on a ledge. He will probably stay silent too. Hope you can maybe get the coast guard to keep a lookout for him. Hope he is home safe very soon x
