If someone reports a dog lost to a local vets, they hopefully would tell the owner to contact the dog warden as we are the only agency that deals with stray dogs. The alleged owner of this dog is young and recently accquired him. Another possibility is he could be from the Travellers that were in Elms Field (next to where he was found). They have since moved on. He is off to rescue on Monday.

Do Dog wardens contact local vets who might recognise him, (sorry if this is the first thing they do. I am new to this) but I I know if a picture of my dogs were shown to the local vets//receptionists they would know who they belonged to.

My thoughts exactly about the elderly owner etc. Ah thank you for your kind words ... I would just hope that if this kind of thing ever happened to my doggie, somebody would do the same : )
The posters went up two nights ago but appears not to have done the trick yet : / X

This little chap is still with us. Been given a name of a possible owner and he has been told to contact us. So far nothing. Thanks VivSmart for rescuing him before he got squashed!

Just my thoughts, but the poor mite may belong to someone elderly / without computer etc, so I think a few posters as you suggest with some basic info. would be a good idea. Well done for ensuring his safety & trying to re-unite him. x

Hi, just wondering if this lovely little guy has found his family yet? Me and my friends managed to catch him by Carnival Pool in Wokingham after seeing him trotting down the road. Is it a good idea to put up some 'found' posters? As he is not chipped, don't want to attract people who aren't actually the owners so maybe just basic info (without pic)?

Thank you for taking the time to list this found dog and ensuring the safety of the dog.
Please ensure that you notify your local Dog Warden and the local Police Station - in Scotland you MUST inform your local Police Station and if possible contact the Dog Warden also.
The found dog may have a Microchip or a Tattoo - please have the dog scanned and checked for a tattoo at a vet's so that owners may be contacted as soon as possible.
Please check on our Missing pages in case the Found dog has been registered as missing with us.
If possible please add a photo as this greatly assists our work in matching Found dogs with Missing dogs.
