Just logged on to see if Cheeky was ever found. So so sorry to hear this sad news. I hope you find peace in the fact that her disappearance brought people together searching for her. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Oh nooooo! Have only just seen this. I am so sad. Please know that it would have been quick, even though it it so awful. My heart goes out to you. Cheeky had already earnt her wings and she will now wait while you continue to earn yours and you will all be together once more. I promise. God was there to catch her and she will always be with you, just from up above instead. What a wonderful time it will be, on that Rainbow Bridge day. God bless. x

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.

There is always food and water and warm Spring weather. The old frail animals are young again. The maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on Earth.

Each day they all run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears rise up! The eyes are staring! Then suddenly, this one runs from the group! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and you both embrace. Your face is licked again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated again.

Cheeky found today deceased. Thanks to everyone of you that helped in searching for my beautiful girl. I am really grateful. Best wishes
Didofido
Also it's a good idea to see if echo will do a story? Lot of dogs have been 'returned' if there is too much publicity! Just in case someone has her?
Didofido
Hi I work at waitrose in Leigh and can put a poster up at work but unfortunately not in window! I am coming tonight but finish at six so may be but late. Printer not working is anyone bringing posters tonight that I could take? My dog went missing in belfairs years ago but fortunately only for seven hours. She went as far as St Michaels road to a fenced off gasworks place? Does anyone know it? And postered that way? If not I could as I have plastic wallets and staple gun at the ready!
Buzz and Amber

I will meet you for the search tomorrow.
Will bring my daughter alone as well.

Ann
I will try my hardest to be there tomorrow. Will Cheeky come up to dogs ie, should we bring ours or not?
Jennyb
I have facebooked details of search. It would be great if the organisers could notify helpers in the region. My husband and I spent an hour in the woods/reserve yesterday from Warren road entrance with our dogs. Shells can you clarify which entrance we should meet at on Tuesday? Is Cheeky a nervous dog? do you think she would make her way towards people/houses or do you think she would hide?
Paula Griffin's Mum
Shells… I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make Tuesday as I have a meeting I need to attend, I wish you & everyone helping the very best of luck. I’m afraid I didn’t manage to get to poster the Leigh/Shoebury area at the weekend as my plans changed, I’ve handed a poster to my Sister who lives in Hullbridge, she will find a good place to pin it up I’m sure. I still have posters on me at all times & will poster where I can, I did see one up in Hockley woods this morning, so lots of dog walking areas have been postered in the Hockley, Hawkwell, Rochford area, I hope & pray that someone somewhere will see a poster, see Cheeky & make the connection & make that all important call. A friend of mine uses the school hall at The Fairway on a Thursday evening, I will hand her a good handful of posters to hand out to people she meets with there who I know live in the local area to help spread the word, making as many people aware as we can, until then stay safe Cheeky until we can find you…
Buzz and Amber
Ok shells. if u in facebook u could setup an event. i spoke to a local groomer yesterday who has her poster up and the vets u use confirmed the same. i will share the search details as well. c u there. exactly what entrance is it? (near the resturant or from scrublane area?)Last edited: 2013-06-10 09:42:14 by Buzz and Amber
shells
Tuesday evening 6:30pm meet at the entrance to Belfairs Nature Reserve. Anyone that can make it will be more than welcome and their help greatly appreciated
Jennyb
Hi Shells, Why don't you set a date and time for a search and we will try to get as many people together as possible. Maybe one evening? You could also add her details to free websites such as Gumtree. Have you re-checked with all the local kennels/vets?
shells
A proper coordinated search would be great. I've gone along the shops from Thames Drive as far as Iceland in Leigh along A13 will continue tomorrow. if anyone is unable to print posters I'm more than willing to deliver them to you. Someone is putting a poster up at Westleigh School I'll try Belfairs and Hadleigh schools tomorrow. Anymore ideas would be extremely welcome.
Buzz and Amber
Have kept sharing. gonna give info to our dog group tomorrow as well. glad the posters are up. have u rechecked the vets and kennels shells? Do you want to organise a proper search so we can coordinate retracing where she could have been? As the nights are quite light it might be worthwhile. also have you given details to belfairs and westleigh schools? Print posters to put on their notice boards and see if they will allow them to be handed to parents
Dog WardenBasildon DW
I am keeping my eyes peeled. I am at a dog show in Wickford tomorrow, if I can get to a printer I will take some posters with me and will spread the word, it is a popular event and lots of visitors from all around the area including Southend.
shells
I have added a new picture of Cheeky this one has no tongue sticking out!
Tinksbaby
have reshared her poster on my wall as am in westcliff and on y missing dog page too . and will keep my eyes open wide have her pic on my mob as well just in case i see her
Ann
Keep going Shells. More and more people know about her with every day. How about a picture and advert in the local freeby papers? I haven't seen anything in the press about dogs going missing locally, so they might even be interested in doing an article. Make sure you say she is chipped and spayed, so they know they cant breed from her. The more publicity you can get, the more difficult it will be for someone to hang on to her. I even gave a poster to my mothers leg ulcer nurse this morning! I will be doing two farmers markets in Hockley this weekend and Cheekys poster will be hanging at the front of the stand and handed out to anyone who will take it. I dont have kids but am I right in thinking they were on holiday when she went missing? Do you have any young relatives/friends who can keep tweeting it and circulating it on facebook. Any dog owner will be sympathetic and it will soon go viral. It wont take long for the word to spread amongst youngsters so if anyone has her they may decide she is too hot to handle. How about a poster in Leigh Community Centre and any dog-friendly shops in the Broadway and on Highlands. How about a board outside Leigh station, for commuters to see? We WILL get her back, please believe it and keep going. x
Paula Griffin's Mum
It must be so hard, but stay strong Shells, I'm in the Leigh area Saturday morning then Shoebury in the afternoon, I'll pup a poster up wherever I can. How far is it from the Warren Road entrance to where you last saw her? Could she back track & try to find her way home, could scenting be tried? If you really feel that someone has taken her then let’s hope the posters will make her too hot to handle, I will keep postering where I can, Helpers, please please help Shells by postering wherever you can...
shells
I live near the Warren Road entrance.Cheeky went missing at the bottom end of the Nature Reserve before you turn into the woods. If anyone needs posters I can print off lots and deliver them to you. I have revisited where I last saw her several tfor imes but it does really upset me. I really think now someone has taken her. Thanks again everyone for helpimg.
Jimbo
So sorry to see Cheeky still not found. We live by the woods and walk in there every day with our Dobermann. We go in by the Belfairs Park Drive/Woodside entrance. We have seen the posters and have been looking every day since. I took a pic of the poster and put it on the Leigh-on-Sea twitter feed and it had loads of re-tweets so hopefully the more people know the better. Are you local to the area? I'll check if there is a poster in Byford's, the local shop and in the local pub. Good luck and keep us posted.
Ann
Re facebooked her. Good idea about leaflet through doors of houses backing onto woods. Even if she is not found directly from this, it will make more people aware of her. A friend has put a poster in her shop window in Southchurch.
Tinksbaby
sad to see this missing. i live in southend and if anyone wants help with a search im happy to help. have a neighbor who works there and he is also on the look out for cheeky .have taken a screen shot of her pic onmy phone to have at hand.
PuppyPower
Walked Belfairs today and was calling for Cheeky. Checked every shadow and ditch. Hope you get her back soon. Pleased to see more posters up. My printer has run out of ink so cannot print off. I had an idea, why don't you ask brownies/scouts if they could do a search? Obviously need parents permission.
Jennyb
I walked my dogs around Belfairs today from Eastwood Road side. Went all along the boundarys getting my dogs to check rabbit holes etc. I think more posters need to go up around the surrounding areas. I put a couple up today. Has anyone knocked at the doors of the houses that back on to the woods as many of them have sheds etc where Cheeky could have hidden or got stuck etc? Do we have an exact location where she disappeared so that I can focus my attention on that area when I go back?.
Debs D
I'll put some up in Battlesbridge later today and try and get some more up in Hockley.
shells
Put posters in blenheim Park yesterday didn't realise there were stables. I would be grateul if you could put up a poster. Thank you
PuppyPower
Hello just shared on fb. I was at Belfairs yesterday (the main entrance by the stables) and didn't see any posters there. Happy to help if I can.
Paula Griffin's Mum
has the area where Cheeky went missing been revisted? they often return to where they last saw you, I'm sure all's being done that can be done, just so want to see her home
Paula Griffin's Mum
I put another poster up yesterday at the Hockely Mount, top of Plumberow Avenue, again lots of dog walkers there, close to where Annie went missing, I have put one up at work on the notice board, work in Brentwood, I will still do as many as I can in the Hockley, Hawkwell area, I can put more up at the weekend as I'll be visting Leigh & Shoebury, so anywhere I can see to put a poster up I will, come on Cheeky we all want you home, stay safe girlie
Buzz and Amber
Sorry if you are already doing this but make sure you keep contacting all the kennels and vets as there have been a couple of dogs who, even though noted as lost or missing and details shared, had been taken to kennels and within the legal timeframe had been rehomed! One was a southend dog who went missing while his new potential owners were being homechecked and a week later he was rehomed through rescue without owner or rehoming people being notified! Try acresway kennels, gemini kennels, vets4pets, your vets, earls hall vets, downs vets, as well as ringing dog wardens again. Also per fb her details have been uploaded onto the Rayleigh and Your Southend fb sites so hundreds of people will now see her infoLast edited: 2013-06-04 09:34:34 by Buzz and Amber

I saw a poster on Highlands Boulevard today. I will print some at work and put them up this evening around the Woodlands Park entrance if there aren't any already. If I get a chance I'll check some of the other entrances. Will be speaking to Gill at Crofters later today who rehomes for RSPCA and make sure she's aware.

I back on to Belfairs and have a gate on to the woods. I will leave the gate open whenever my dogs are not in the garden, with bowls of food and water just inside in case she smells it and comes in and will obviously look whilst out with mine. Hope you find her soon. Will she come up to other dogs? I have posted it on facebook as well.Last edited: 2013-05-31 21:07:10 by Ann

There is a cafe and disabled horseriding centre plus row of shops nearby - let them know Cheeky is missing and give out posters plus mention to Woodcutters pub and golfers will look out for Cheeky - good luck
Paula Griffin's Mum
Yes of course thank you Angel Tina, I was getting confused with the Two Tree island area, the penny has now dropped & I've just realised I know Belfairs woods/park having been there fairly recently for a walk with Griffin. Really good that there's lots of dogwalkers, horse riders, golfers, hopefully the good weather will bring more people out, more eyes & ears, hope she's found soon
Buzz and Amber
Shared on fb. If its belfairs woods/park then no seawalls. horse stables there and a golf course. used by many dogwalkers so hopefully picked up quickly. also kids playground so will be lots of people around. will take my dog there later if cheeky isnt back already
Paula Griffin's Mum
Shared on FB & asked friends to re-share, I'm sure you have, but please go back to the last place you saw her as they do often return. I used to live in Leigh, but I don't know this area very well, are there sea walls, could she have got caught up somewhere? I'm sure this has all been thought of, am happy to come help look on over the weekend, I will keep an eye out on here for more information/and or will call the mobiles to check before heading over, stay safe lovely girl...
