A message for jobadger or anyone else who knows about Welsh Hounds. A reference was made to two lennels of Welsh Hounds some time back. I have been trying to track down pure Welsh Hound packs for some time and would love to be able to obtain contacts for those two kennels. It would be much appreciated if you could help me out here. Thank you, Mike.
Ellie
Oh! What a surprise! The hunting fraternity have not claimed their hound. The truth is that they probably haven't even missed her yet!!
Goldenfrodo
This lovely girl wasnt claimed so she's now looking for her forever home. Good luck sweetheart xx

digbysmum
Do hope this girl is soon reunited/rehomed. She is beautiful xx
jobadger
I agree - this girl is gorgeous. I know of two kennels of Welsh hounds and both are extremely proud of the condition of their hounds. I have also had nothing but politeness from the huntsmen I have contacted regarding stray hounds - these don't always appear on DL. Perhaps you have just been unlucky in the people you have come across Claire. x
Carol
Glad she is ok keep us updated on her she is beautiful xxx

Hi 4paws and Ellie tell me about the pong and so did I by the time the Hunt staff collected their Hound from me!!!! And as for food well I've never seen the food I put down for it disappear so quick - it was actually trying to eat my hand whilst tipping onto a plate! I'm so pleased that she is safe and not living life in the "harsh" lane. thank you xLast edited: 2013-04-18 09:48:12 by ClaireC
Ellie
Hi Claire
If she is a proper Welsh Hound then I would actually doubt that she could be walked on a lead. These hounds are normally kept all together in a barn or similar. They're normally very dirty and pong to High Heaven! They are certainly not kept like our pooches infact life is very hard for these poor dogs. This lovely girl looks quite well cared for and clean so perhaps she has been a pet.
4paws
Hi Claire, she has been tried on a lead but was very nervous as still very early days and she seems very timid as she was only caught on Sunday so hopefully will hear more in next couple of days how she is now. If she was a hunt dog she obviously was unable to find her way home as was appently seen in the area since December..poor girl.
ClaireC
Sheer curiosity but has anybody taken her for a walk on a lead as yet? I ask this because when I found a Hound a couple of months ago it pulled like you would never believe and just so very strong! I was told by the Hunt that collected her its because they are never walked on a lead. If this is true and she walks nicely on a lead then she may belong to someone other than a Hunt! The Hunt also told me that I should never have bothered catching her as they always find their way home! Such gratitude having nearly had my shoulders dislocated. Have to add not even a thank you.Last edited: 2013-04-17 21:02:17 by ClaireC

I have read somewhere that working hounds are sometimes tattooed inside their lip. I know it sounds weird but maybe worth checking. Would love to see this gorgeous girl reunited with her owners. If this is not possible I really hope that she will be found a home where someone has understanding of all the pitfalls of owning a dog that has been bred to hunt for generations.
4paws
Hi poochpal, Yes ears and inside legs been checked for tattoo & checked for chip..and nothing..xx
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Have her ears been checked for tattoo?
Ellie
SuzeeB, You could well be right about her being a Welsh Foxhound. She looks very much like the ones that I see a lot of in Wales, although the ones that I have seen are normally brown and white.Perhaps she got lost while out on a hunt. She's most certainly a stunner!
ClaireC
What a beautiful girl. Sure hope someone is looking for her.
Paula Griffin's Mum
She's beautiful, hope her family find her soon, good luck girlie xx
SuzeeBee
Isn't she a stunner----- wish my fences were higher !!

Dear Admin,

I know all the followers of doglost like to have updates on the dogs found. This Trailhound 50908 has been caught after running wild for some time. She is now with Wooffles Rescue they have called her Nina and there are some lovely photos on this link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ton-Y-Fedw-Farm-Wooffles/156497104486860?ref=stream

She is a stunning dog, someone must be missing her. Could she have a "Bump"

Thanks,

Sue (Suzeebee)

Updated photos to follow...very shortly..
SuzeeBee
I have looked at pictures of this girl now she is caught and think she may be a Welsh Foxhound as she has a dense rough coat. She looks such a beautiful girl someone must be looking for her.

Dog is safe in Wooffles Animal Rescue and they have named her Nina. Sadly she
is not chipped or tattood..still hopeful an owner will appear when we have some

4paws so sorry for you but the dog did the wisest thing and stayed put under cover having been fed the day before! Must be sheltering nearby. I'm sure though, it will be back to the same place looking for some more food very probably the same time as you fed before. Good luck xxLast edited: 2013-04-14 20:16:46 by ClaireC

I have forwarded this page to Trailhound Welfare in the hope that someone may recognise her/him as a rehomed hound. Last edited: 2013-04-12 14:56:40 by jobadger

Definitely not the same dog then. I have uploaded a new photo of 51017 which shows her more clearly. I am also bumping this one due to the latest sighting. I hope she stays safe and allows herself to be caught.
4paws
Dont think its the lurcher(51017) as this trailhound was sighted 11 hours ago still in wales xxLast edited: 2013-04-11 13:30:11 by 4paws
Carol
Could this be the lurcher x saluki that's just been found it looks like it , it was thin and had flakey skin and in poor condition x
4paws
Have changed to trailhound as someone may be looking for it. Apparently it has been sighted in area since December so people are now looking and going to contact if seen at all xx Hoping owners may contact also.
ClaireC
If he/she has run that far he/she will need the cuppa! Let's hope the dog stands still long enough to be able to catch him/her xLast edited: 2013-04-08 19:33:34 by ClaireC
Laraine
Certainly does look like a Trailhound - I have a re-homed one. If it has raced it should come for a bucket of food and lots of whistling and encouragement. They are also partial to a large cup of tea!
SuzeeBee
I agree with Lucie looks like a Trailhound to me. They run 20 miles no trouble so could be from some way away.
Lucie
Is it big enough to be that breed?Last edited: 2013-04-08 00:58:33 by Lucie
jobadger
Grand Bleu de Gascoine?
Lucie
Are there any Hound trailing associations in the area?
If it is caught then there should be a tattoo in the ear as they have to be registered, also if it is a trailing hound then it might be difficult to catch as they are trained to come to their catches in different ways when racing to the finishing line.
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
Yes, my first thought was Saluki cross. Most likely a Lurcher type I'm sure. Have there been other sightings, has the dog been there for long? xxx
ClaireC
From what I can see it looks like a bit Lurcher/Saluki X. What does anyone else think?

Hope this dog is soon caught safe, and sound, and finds it`s owner.
