Any news on this deceased springer?? Was this Mabel or Winnie? Lots of lost spaniels out there this could give someone closure xx
Carol
Has anyone contacted council or highways to rule out the fact that Winnie may have been in an accident and her body removed from scene hence no findings :-(
MMM
Have the owners actually checked the location I mnetioned in my earlier post? The last update from facebook indicated indicated the slip road and McDonalds as being where I saw the dog, it wasn't, please re-read my message from Sat.

Update on facebook yesterday:
Mabel is doing well & had a very quiet day today with lots of her favourite things to eat. The other dogs are being so good with her & making sure they don't barge into her poorly leg. Unfortunately still no sighting of Winifred altho' we have had postings of a Springer Spaniel being killed on the slip road at Junction 11 of the M42 near MacDonalds. We have investigated this but no positive feedback. We have obviously reported the fact that she is missing to all the local police forces but have heard nothing from them regarding this dead dog
debbie
Fingers crossed it was Mabel that was seen, hope she's ok and that Winnie is found safe very soon xxx
Ellie
Thanks for everyone's concern. We are also confused and trying to find facts as of course owners of Mabel and Winnie. We will advise everyone as soon as we have details wether it was Mabel who was sighted following her accident or heaven forbid Winifred or an unknown springer spaniel.

Just hope they weren't both on the motorway at the same time :(
debbie
Wasn't Winnie missing with Mabel? Hope to god it's not Winnie but whoever it is RIP :( xxxx
Lucylou
Im confused. is this dog alive??
Unknown
Not as yet.....still keeping finger crossed for Winnie
Lorn
Any updates?

I have spoken to the owner and her husband is going to go and check this out. Apparently Mabel caused an accident and was taken to the vets by a Police lady
Owner didn't say that was where Mabel was found when I told her the place. Fingers crossed it isn't Winnie and she is safe somewhere.
MMM
so the dog I thought was dead is actually alive JaneyV? if so that is good news but gawd do I now feel crap if she was lying there in pain but I thought Mabel was found on a different road?
JaneyV
Thanks for the info Maria, it sounds like it might have been Mabel you saw laying in the central reservation as that is where she was picked up from and taken to the vets. An off-duty policeman friend, who also owns IRWS, is off now to re-drive the area to check whether there is still a body in the central reservation as apparently it would be up to the Highways Agency to retrieve.

I couldn't rule out Winifred, the patches look similar but I can't recall the colour of the dogs face I saw, I did initially think springer spaniel but as mentioned not dis-similar to a irish red & white setter. The dog I saw looked a healthy size and (sorry no easy way to say this) didn't look as if it had been there a while. If the council have not already moved the dog to help locate it...... I was driving north on A42 between the north and south bound lanes there are metal barriers, part of the road have double barriers, so one on the north side and one on the south with a bit of rough soil/weed land in between, the part I saw the dog has double barriers with the dog lying in between, this is what made me think it was stuck there waiting for a safe time to cross the other half. I drove off at the next turn off with the intention of driving back southbound, the slip road I tool was the A444 which was juntion 11, there is a petrol station and a McDonalds on that juntion, I got the police tel number from these services and drove back south bound, as I passed I noticed the dog didn't look alive, I was actually on the phone to the police at this point and I had just passed a blue motorway sign saying welcome to "wherever" didn't notice where but that was almost the spot where the dog was. I had to turn off and head north bound home again and again I looked and no movement from the dog.....I do hope it's not Winifred and she is found safe and well... fingers crossed for her
MMM
No problem Ellie, I have two dogs and know if either went missing I would be distraught.
I'll have a look at Winifred.
The tel number I called was 0116222 2222 and it was 15:02 when I called, it was a lady who took my call, I was literally driving back past the dog as I was talking to her to report it and noticed the dog was deceased. The call should be logged, I was driving so couldn't write down any ref number but the lady did say she would ring the council.

Thank you for mentioning Winifred, I phoned admin this morning as the same thought crossed my mind. I am a close friend of Winifred's owner and also own Irish Red & White Setters. We are frequently mistaken for Springer Spaniels. Wondering whether to contact Leics police, does anyone have a contact name and number?
Ellie
Thank you for caring Maria and notifying us. Yes, i wondered about Winifred, could you take a look at ID 50224 Maria, has the M42 is close by. Hope the owner is able to trace this little soul. Last edited: 2013-03-23 10:00:35 by Ellie

Maria, could this poor dog have been Winifred 50224. She is an Irish red and White Setter but could look like a Springer from a passing glance. She has gone missing from this area and her companion Mabel was found injured in an RTA.
MMM
Hi I'm Maria who saw this dog and mailed admin. Don't know if the dog was 29191 as that has no pic but fairly sure it"s not 50208, the dog I seen looked mostly white with liver patches. It's a busy road so I couldn't stop to take a pic. Drove past and initially thought the dog was trapped between the barriers in the centre of the road and too afraid to move, it was only as I turned off the road and drove back I realised dog was deceased.
jackie
could this be the dog with the id 50208
Nikki (Tyler's mum)
Just wondering about dog I'd 29191 lost in 2011 so unlikely but lost from DE13 and also liver and white?
Ellie
I am afraid I have no further details as this was a message sent to Admin. Leicester police notified. Phone number is DogLost admin.
RIP sweetheart.
