So delighted Darcy has been apprehended after a week, four hours and 30 minutes on the run. A dog walker had seen the notice we put up at the Old John car-park and was able to tell the rangers he was missing and not just off the lead in the park. The rangers found our details on his collar and thought his name was Fletcher... Yes, Fletch Lives! He recognised me right away and let out a few excited yaps. Needless to say, he was very muddy and smelly. He felt much better after a shower and was then ready to meet the rest of the family he had left so long ago. Kezzie had missed him and now they are both having a well-earned rest. A big thank you to DogLost for providing this resource to enable everyone to be updated with particular searches.

Welcome home Darcy, I'm soooo pleased! Well done to the Bradgate rangers. Stay safe now xxx

Yippeeeeeee. Fantastic news that Darcy is home. I went looking in the area this morning. Well done Bradgate Park Rangers. x
Ellie
I am over the moon to be able to report that Darcy is safely home! He has just been reunited with his owners after being found by Rangers on Bradgate Park who had seen a poster in the car park.
Well done owners after your exhausting search. They thank DogLost and say they can now sleep well tonight.
Welcome home Darcy, stay safe, just ignore those workmen!

We now think 'Warren Hills' is not heading in the Whitwick area, but the stretch of road off the Roecliffe Crossroads towards Sharpley Hill. (Google Search) Going for another hour up there until 11 am...
Helen
Im just wondering but if you are on his trail surely if he is frightened and in survival mode, going about it shouting, whistling and clapping hands is just going to frighten him off and push him further away from you. Set up a quiet area to where he has been sighted, leaving loads of food and a blanket with his smells on, keep going back to it and earn his trust might take days but it will be worth it. Good luck guys if you do a search let me know more than happy to help. Live Syston. Xx

Day #8 - Further to yesterday's sighting, owners parked in Maplewell Road WE and walked footpath to Lingdale Golf Course. No sign of Darcy. Details passed to Ellie. We drove Priory Road shouting towards Benscliffe Woods. Had to conclude search 5/3 at 7.45 am and return to Loughborough
Ellie
Groundsman at Lingdale Golf Course reported sighting to owners who are making an early search heading to the extension towards Warren Hills. They are splitting into groups, anyone else available to search would be welcomed
Ellie
He may cover this ground several times. Please do not be tempted to make too much noise on your searches, talk quietly and make no eye contact if you see him.
Lucylou
thats encouraging news. Im sure you will find him soon. good luck.
Thelutenist
Dashed out to Lingdale Golf Course after a sighting there about 3.40pm today (Monday). Extensive search of the links on both sides of Joe Moores Lane (9-holes each side), shouting his name, whistling and clapping but still no sign. Left our phone number with golf-club office, Roecliffe Farm next door and, with the night-security at Roecliffe Manor. So disappointing for us not to spot him this time. We seemed so close. Just read these messages, it would seem he has gone back towards Roecliffe from Maplewell Rd. If only he had crossed Maplewell Rd onto Broombriggs, we would know he was heading towards home...Last edited: 2013-03-04 20:44:47 by Thelutenist
Ellie
That's really positive news. Please reread the mapping and scenting email and leaving food at areas he is going back to, obviously do not draw him into any areas where he would have to cross a road. You now have all 3 points of his triangle so try to get in front of him.
Alex
Maplewell Rd in Woodhouse Eaves.
Alex
I saw Darcy running down Maplewell Rd towards Maplewell school and farm on Sunday 3rd March about 16:00. I thought it was strange so I pulled over but the dog bolted.

Darcy was sighted againt today and yesterday on Lingdale Golf Course - woodhouse eaves again. We have searched the area to no avail. This is a link with a map showing his first sighting last Tues Pm and the one today - as you can see he is staying in a relatively small area and all sightings in between have been within these 2 points (approx) https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Breakback+Road,+Woodhouse+Eaves,+United+Kingdom&daddr=Lingdale+Golf+Club,+Woodhouse+Eaves,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&t=m&z=14&geocode=FY2aJAMdKDft_ykV8uVdUOB5SDGh7Bes_ZTB1w%3BFQpLJAMd-UTt_yHM8GKaal500inDP-Z1POB5SDHM8GKaal500g

So sorry to see that you still have not found beloved Darcy.....are you happy for me to spread news of his being missing further around via my friends and Facebook? Let me know and, if so, I,will pass on his photo and get going.....

Shelties are very resourceful, but yes they don go into flight. However they also usually come back to the point they went missing from. Scenting might be an idea. Any of the coordinators on this site can advise. Darcy may be laying low during the day although must be getting quite hungry although they can even survive on turnips. Fingers crossed for a quick reunion. They are a very clever breed.

We spent several hours searching the whole area of the sightings with his sheltie-girlfriend Kezzie! Roecliffe Manor estate (where the only sighting was on Friday) is locked for the weekend. Managed to inform the site-security man. We walked Kezzie over the footpath from Broombriggs Fm to Woodhouse Eaves. Also from Deans Lane to Woodbrook School. Hope it lays a trail for Darcy to find his way home. No sightings on Saturday. The whole area searched again on Sunday. Still no sightings. Postering extended to Swithland and Old Woodhouse. Darcy PLEASE come home!
tomkat
Hi, we met on Saturday, Rushey Lane....I have posted Darcy's details on my facebook page and have made the phone calls I promised....hoping and praying you have found him safe and well x
Thelutenist
Another sighting for yesterday morning (approx 11.30 am) in a back garden in Woodhouse Eaves . he ran as soon as spotted. he does seem to be keeping in a relatively small area though. We have had other calls but these are of sightings earlier in the week - all near to other sightings . We have been out again searching and putting posters out and speaking to walkers/dog owners/runners etc in the area
Joy
Shared on Facebook. Hope darcy is found fit and we'll very soon x

Wish i was closer to help, I have four shelties and one of mine went missing but through doglost i got her back, But what i would say is it was difficult and only because she got stuck in brambles did we catch her, when she realised it was us she cried like a baby, I think they get totally disorientated and dont realise who you are, Fingers and paws crossed for you, Come on Darcy be caught, xxx
Ellie
This is Woodhouse Eaves. Please owners remember my earlier advice of what to do if you see him as he will be in survival mode and may not recognise you straightaway. Please come home Darcy.
Thelutenist
Possible sighting of Darcy nr Roecliffe Manor at about 11.30 this morning - he was chased onto a building site there apparently but then vanished . We are currently combing the area and postering . Dog warden was called out by sighter
Ellie
I have obtained permission to poster at the LOROS Paws 4 a Cause walk at Abbey Park on Sunday and will take fliers of all currently missing LE dogs. Anyone who could also do hand outs appreciated.

Hi. I'm not in yr area, but if sighting has been near to where you live perhaps you could light a bbq and cook some smelly sausages/bacon to see if it attracts Darcy. Sounds silly but it has worked many times before! Also searching is often best done in early morning and dusk/evenings when things are quiet and yr voice can be heard. Good luck.

Sighting was again for Tuesday - He crossed the road back from Beacon Hill (breakback road) and was heading back towards the Outwoods. Time was not confirmed. apparently traffic was stopping to let him across. We were out most of yesterday in this area looking and calling him but no response :(

Advert in local paper has brought in a sighting...have given owners details to sighter...

Thanks Snowdrop and Riverlady. Addd to DogLost Leicestershire Facebook, Central and East Midlands and Warks plus my own and other relevant sites
Darcy was sighted this afternoon 2pm Briggs Farm, Woodhouse Eaves, directly across fields from where he was missing. Reports had come in suggesting it was Jake ID 38635. Have cross referenced both pages. Both boys please stay safe until your families can find you.

It looks like he was also seen this afternoon in fields along Breakback Road so very close to other sighting - not sure on timings re this one so not sure if before or afterwards .
Thelutenist
darcy probably seen this afternoon running along Deans Lane and entering the Broombriggs estate at about 2pm. Ive seen comments that this might have been jake the missing border collie but think it is more likely Darcy given his earlier sighting and direction he was headed
