Oh dear. There are a number of possibilities here. I'd definitely try and get this dog away. Arguing - some people argue "physically" in which case hazebella could be on the right lines. Dogs don't like arguments any more than we do and dogs like to protect people too. Some domestic situations or lack of care through ignorance can make dogs react. This is obviously not a good home environment for the dog. If anyone is able, I would suggest finding a way to get owner give up the dog to a good "no kill" rescue and there are many rescues out there that would happily work with the dog and of course, test his behaviour. This is a much better way for dog and owner rather than Gumtree, or other such places, that may ultimately end with an even worse situation for the dog or others. Owner wants to part with him, so for the good of all concerned, maybe a rescue could be found to step in to help this happen. I am only suggesting from afar here as I don't actually know the situation other than what I have read on here. Maybe the dog warden, owner and Dogs Trust (no kill), could come to an arrangement?

this boy is still with owner unfortunatly :( here is the update on this boy... Ruth: To those following the am bull advertised free on gum tree last night I said I would get.
I spoke to the man advertising it last night and eventually he agreed to let me have it. He told me had found this dog outside his friends house phoned the dog warden but they wouldn't take it. Alarm bells rang. I asked which council he rang which he told me islington. Today I rang the senior animal welfare man named Joe Clarke from islington to be told it looks like this man owns the dog it isn't a stray and he had phoned the council dog warden to ask him to take it as it has aggressively bit people in his family. I am waiting for phone call back to see what can be done now.... Update... Jo Clarke just rang me from the council the man giving the dog away is the same one that tried to pass it off as a stray he has admitted this. It apparently has bitten him when he was rowing with his girlfriend but had bitten before as well.... Now what ?????

The advert has gone now but this is a double posting with Found ID 49291 which has some info from someone who managed to have an email convo with the person who posted on gumtree. I emailed the person who posted on gumtree and did not hear back and I also emailed the advert to Battersea in case anyone had reported him missing. The other one has a photo.

Date found approx - 'found over a week ago' being given away on Gumtree - free to good home. NO mention if Dog warden has been notified although says been vet checked. Worried someone could be missing him. I have added finders number but it is my phone details. Will also message finder to tell him I have listed dog on here. http://www.gumtree.com/p/pets/american-bulldog-free-to-a-good-home/1010670617#.USviZ6RxWeA.facebook No postcode I am afraid but is listed on London Gumtree and the map pinpoints the ad to East Barnet/New Southgate area.Last edited: 2013-02-25 23:27:33 by coralvb
