Thanks Paula Marie. This dog ran down a walkway between Wilson Ave and Garside Ave, North east area of Birtley. I have spoken to a man who lives nearby and he said he thinks there is a springer who is chained up in a garden on the estate and sometimes gets out. I suppose this is the dog I saw.

Brother-in-law lives Birtley area, will send link to see if he recognises dog as local wanderer.

Definately liver and white, got very close to this boy a few times, but kept running off. No more sightings today, so hopefully he does live on the estate he run on, just worried his garden is not secure and he gets again, hope not.

Could this be Woody (ID 48040) missing from DH8? He is black and white tho; is this one definitely liver?
BBKM
Uploaded photo, best I could get of him. Been back out to same area and had a drive around the estate but no sign of him. Hoping he lives somewhere near and has made it back home safely.
