Natalie, a few of us have looked and checked and sadly, we don't think it's Simba. A couple of GSD people took a look especially, too. Thank you SO much for that though, you really just never know, so this is really appreciated. Thank you. If you see any more do pass our way. xxx

Thank you Natalie - I have seen it. I am uploading Simba's photo now after we lost it. Bit hard to tell with pups as they do look different as they grow. What do you think? x

Oh dear. Okay, how about trying to get this in the local paper. You never know if they will help or not, but worth a try. Owners can plead for more information. It may not have been planned theft; it could be that they found a dog and decided to keep it because they didn't know who it belonged to. Remember it took a couple of weeks or more till the posters went up. Some people really don't know what to do when they find a dog & police don't help with this anymore, so they would have been turned away if they tried to hand a dog in there. They may now have become attached & only just seen a poster. Someone has a conscience though as owners have been contacted. Was this told to owners in person, or over the phone? The police should be called now, as you have grounds to prove that this has become theft by finder (or even deliberate theft, you just don't know yet). If a dog is not returned it becomes theft; that is the law. The only good from this, if true, is that Simba is safe. I see no reason for anyone to tell you this, if not true. Please keep us updated here. Thank you. Bumping Simba. Last edited: 2013-02-19 22:19:58 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

I didn't receive your email, I have now managed to contact the harlow dog warden, a dog that looks like simba was sighted yesterday running into brockles mead in Harlow, there has since been no more sightings and the owner of simba did go round there after work last night with leaflets but there was no sign, we are going to go round there tomorrow and leaflet sumners and staple tye and the parks between there and brockles mead xx

Soph, did you get the email I sent? It has all Essex numbers on there. Off hand, I don't have all the Herts numbers, but all you need to do is call the councils. Here is what I do have: Call Dog Control East Herts & North Herts 01279 655261 and 01462 474000 also call 0845 130862. Epping is 01992 564077. DW, any I have forgotten?Last edited: 2013-02-02 00:27:15 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

This dog is not at Foxdells, was there yesterday and they would have told me. Soph i'm not sure who you are contacting with regards to 'Dog Wardens' but you need to ensure you have contacted the Animal Wardens at each Council I listed to ensure they are aware.

Have you tried Foxdells Rescue in Bishops Stortford? Its called ARC and you can find it on the internet. Call them quickly. Well done to Silent Paws for her fantastic help. x

Hi, Simba was reported to the dog wardens when he first went missing but i will happily call them again in the morning. I met her today and collected the posters and flyers, i am so greatful to all of you for what you are doing for us and Simba's owners. I have my phone on at all times and will always be answering calls and txts about our missing boy. The owner doesn't speak very good english especially via phone and works very long hours as a builder and is not always free to take calls and txts, this is why me and my mum are acting on his behalf to get Simba home, Thank you xx

Thank you, Dog Warden. Soph, we are all doing what we can to help find Simba. We have a lovely helper that has made hundreds of posters for you, but we are still waiting for contact in order to hand them over. The number on the posters is your number and we need the owners (or you) to be ready to answer and reply to any calls and texts in relation to Simba. The phone does need to be answered in case of a sighting. Is everyone ready to do that? Can you let us know who the owners are (by calling Admin or emailing Admin) so we can contact them - is that possible Soph? Thank you for your help.

My concern is that this dog has not been reported to Dog Warden, although I look on here daily not all do. They must make everyone aware that it is missing, especially if he is not chipped. Can we ensure they have rung the Dog Warden at East Herts, Harlow, Epping and Uttlesford as it may have been taken over the border. Also advise the Police Herts and Essex and any vets and rescue centres surrounding these areas. Thanks Dog Warden East Herts

Soph, get them to check other people's gardens and any ponds will need checking. Garden sheds that he may have got inside? Any other types of outhouses? Have they told the hotel? The pubs? Get posters in them all. The school needs little leaflets to give to all the kids. The garden centre on Redricks Lane needs to know too. And tell all the farmers - give them posters. Let the Rivers hospital know too. The more eyes, the better.x

Thank you Soph. Okay, if he went missing from the garden it is possible he was stolen, so your friend must tell the police and demand a crime number, not an incident number. Any strange people, men with vans hanging around before he disappeared? Or, could he have got through any gaps in the fences, or were there no fences? Need to call the council cleansing depts for both councils, Sawbridgeworth & Harlow and the Highways Agencies - two separate entities, to see they have seen a dog on the roads. Also, dog wardens of both if not already done so. If someone is holding on to him, posters will make him too hot to handle. Loads! Well done for helping your friend. Let's find this little boy! x
soph
He went missing from the back garden, he went missing from High Whych lane near the manor of groves hotel. I don't live there, Simba is my friends dog but they have no access to the internet or computer so i am trying to find simba on their behalf. Thank you for the email, we will take the steps needed to get our boy home :) xx

Soph, how exactly did Simba go missing and exactly where? Do you live there or were you visiting someone? We need all that kind of info please. I am sending you an email with advice and you need to do everything on there. I am so glad you finally got her on here. Well done. x

Sorry to see that SIMBA is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (47602)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
